Zayn Malik issues urgent warning to fans and pleads for people to stay safe

Zayn Malik pleaded with fans to “not hurt anybody” during chaotic scenes at his sold-out gig in London.
Following the unanticipated passing of his One Direction bandmate Liam Payne, who died in October after falling from an Argentine balcony, the 31-year-old was forced to postpone his UK and US tour dates. In October, Zayn was scheduled to begin his first ever solo tour in San Francisco, but he had put off the dates due to Liam’s tragic passing.
The Pillow Talk hitmaker began his string of sold-out gigs last week, and took to the stage at London’s Eventim Apollo on Tuesday, just days after Liam’s heartbreaking funeral. Zayn was briefly reunited with his One Direction bandmates Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson, as they grieved the loss of Liam, alongside his devastated family and former girlfriend, Cheryl, who is mum to his son Bear, seven.

The crowd started swaying toward the front of the stage as he performed on Tuesday, and Zayn warned audience members to be watchful of other people’s safety. Try not to push because front-facing people are getting a little squished if you’re at the back. We’re all here to have a good time, I’m not going anywhere. Just try not to hurt anybody. Let’s have a good time tonight”, he pleaded.
Zayn has further dates in Manchester, Leeds and Newcastle, as well as an emotional concert in Liam’s home city of Wolverhampton, before he moves on to the US. Zayn confirmed in a statement that he was postponing his solo tour in the wake of his former bandmate’s tragic passing. He stated in a statement on Instagram that “I’ve made the decision to postpone the US leg of the STAIRWAY TO THE SKY Tour” in response to the heartbreaking loss experienced this week.

“The dates have been changed for January, and I’ll post them as soon as everything is set.” Your tickets will remain in effect until the new dates. Love you all and thank you for your understanding”, he added. The singer will be playing songs from his newest album, Room Under the Stairs, which he unveiled in May of this year.
As he began his sold-out UK tour earlier this month, Liam paid tribute to the Strip That Down star. A backdrop behind the stage at Leeds First Direct Arena appeared, which sweetly read: “Liam Payne 1993-2024. Love you bro”, alongside a red heart. His Edinburgh concert was scheduled for the day after Liam’s funeral, and he confirmed that the concert would be changed to December.
