BBC staff left ‘raging’ as Huw Edwards keeps hold of £200k salary amid job losses

Huw Edwards, a disgraced BBC News presenter, hasn’t returned his £200, 000 salary to the BBC despite being paid for five months after his arrest.

Huw Edwards, a scandalist, was requested by the BBC to pay back his salary.

Staff at the BBC are said to be frustrated that shamed Huw Edwards still hasn’t paid back his £200,000 salary, despite numerous calls. The corporation has announced the loss of 155 roles as part of cost-saving measures, with the decision causing upset among its workers.

Bosses revealed last year that they formally requested the disgraced BBC News presenter to return the wages that he received after his arrest. Edwards pleaded guilty to making indecent images of children and narrowly avoided jail.

Last year, he was given six months’ imprisonment, suspended for two years, after pleading guilty to three offences of making indecent images of children. He was found to have seven Category A indecent images of children – the worst type – as well as 12 Category B, and 22 Category C images.

Edwards was the BBC’s highest-paying newsreader when he first started out as a trainee in 1984. For the fiscal year 2023/24, he earned between £475, 000 and £479, 999.

The BBC continued to pay Edwards until his resignation five months after his arrest in November 2023. Edwards was reportedly asked to reimburse his salary for that time by the BBC, but the Mirror now knows he still hasn’t paid a penny.

“Everyone is raging about it — firstly at Huw, who is a disgrace, secondly that gutless bosses seem unwilling or unable to do anything about it,” a source told the Sun.

According to a previous statement from the BBC, “Huw Edwards has not returned any money that the BBC paid him in connection with any of his work for the BBC’s commercial operations or the public service.”

The BBC has requested that all of the money Huw Edwards received from the BBC for the months of November 2023 (arrest) and April 2024 (resignation) be returned.

Dr. Samir Shah, the BBC’s chairman, confirmed in March that the company had been unable to recover any money from former broadcaster Edwards, calling it “quite frustrating.”

When questioned about whether Edwards had been able to recover any money, Dr. Shah replied, “We have not. He seems unwilling, despite our best efforts and repeated requests, to speak up.

We initially believed he might just do the right thing for a change, but he later made the decision not to. Really, I find this to be quite frustrating because I believe he should have done it.

He was still able to do it. It is not appropriate. He knew what he had done and should have given it back to license fee payers right away. The BBC director general also confirmed that the organization had contacted legal counsel and that there was nothing more it could do.

Westminster Magistrates Court heard harrowing details about Edwards’ conversations with convicted paedophile Alex Williams, who sent the once renowned journalist crude images of children between 2018 and 2021.

BBC has reached out to The Mirror for comment.

Former Saturdays singer Frankie Bridge has landed a new ITV role following a reported feud with her co-star Myleene Klass. Frankie, 36, has been involved in a rumoured feud with Myleene and also her former bandmate Rochelle Humes in recent weeks, and ITV reportedly had to step in to ensure the panellists didn’t cross paths.

Frankie has now bagged a new role on ITV and will be appearing as a judge on the upcoming series of ITV’s M&S: Dress The Nation. The singer is known for her style and has regularly shared her fashion outfits and tips online in recent years.

Her sense of style has been noted since she first stepped into the spotlight with The Saturdays, and when she had her iconic pixie haircut. The show was announced earlier this year with presenters Vernon Kay and AJ Odudu back on our screens. It comes after David Beckham speaks ‘as a father’ in ‘family’ announcement after latest Brooklyn snub.

A source revealed to the Daily Star: “Producers think Frankie is perfect for the show because she’s so fashionable.” The Mirror has contacted Frankie’s representatives for comment.

Despite the reported rift between Frankie and the ladies, they appeared to shut down the rumours as Rochelle and Frankie have both been interacting with one another on Instagram and showing their support for one another.

After Frankie revealed a glimpse into her vacation, Rochelle liked the post, and the opposite happened after Rochelle took a vacation. None of the women, however, has ever communicated with Myleene online, and neither does.

The three Loose Women stars were once thought to be good friends, as Myleene and Frankie attended Rochelle’s hen do back in 2012, however, Rochelle and Frankie have remained friends with Myleene’s ex-husband Graham Quinn.

A source previously said: “Myleene seemed to take that as Frankie taking sides with Graham because of their working relationship.”

In response to speculation about the rift between herself and Myleene, Frankie took to social media to post a cryptic message. In a video that she is filmed on a beach resort while singing along to Manchild by Sabrina Carpenter, Frankie posted on TikTok as she enjoyed her most recent getaway.

Being a people pleaser doesn’t please anyone, according to the video’s caption.

She continued, “Fad diets are a waste of time. It turns out to be all about balance, right? Who was aware? You can only satisfy yourself.

Frankie continued, “You can do the difficult thing!” You are aware of this. Then, she emailed her post a red love heart emoji. Fans quickly expressed their opinions on the post, letting their emotions be known.

Amanda Holden supporting Alesha Dixon on lavish getaway after her ‘split’

Britain’s Got Talent stars Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon were bouncing around the Greek seas on a fun-fuelled motorboat trip as they soaked up some continental sunshine

Alesha Dixon was able to lean on a good friend and fellow Britain’s Got Talent star Amanda Holden as they enjoyed a girls’ trip to the sun amid the singer’s ongoing divorce. Last year it was revealed that 46-year-old Alesha was set to be divorced for a second time after the collapse of her marriage to dancer Azuka Ononye.

But fellow TV star Amanda, 54, proved she is a friend that everyone can dream of as she helped lift her fellow BGT star’s spirits with a trip to a sun-drenched Mediterranean island. On Saturday, the former Wild at Heart actress shared social media content showing her and Alesha having the time of their lives.

The talent show judges have been sunning themselves in Corfu, where it is believed Amanda has reunited with interior design show co-star Alan Carr for the next instalment of their surprise hit renovation series, Amanda and Alan’s Greek Job. Photos and a brief video clip showed Amanda and Alesha enjoying a motorboat trip across the waves.

And further snaps showed the pair posing in striking bikinis. In a caption alongside the content, Amanda wrote: “Loved having this one @aleshaofficial and her beautiful family with me and the girls for a few days of sunshine in #Corfu.” And the feeling was mutual – as Alesha reacted to the news by sharing a short message, declaring: “Love you” alongside a heart emoji.

Alesha is said to have split from her husband last year. The Mis-teeq star fell for backing dancer Azuka, 44, after first meeting in 2006 and they had enjoyed a love-fuelled relationship together.

They welcomed two children during their time together: daughters Azura, 11, and Anaya, who turns six this month. Reports emerged in November last year, however, that Alesha and Azuka had called time on their romance after almost two decades.

It marks the end of a second marriage for Alesha who was previously married to So Solid Crew star MC Harvey. The Scandalous singer and the They Don’t Know rapper, whose real name is Michael Harvey Jr, 46, were declared husband and wife in 2005 – but divorced the following year.

In April this year it was reported Alesha and Azuka made a last ditch attempt to try and save their marriage. A source told the Sun at the time: “They went through a really rocky patch and decided to call it a day. It had been difficult for a long time, and Alesha just couldn’t see a way forward. AZ even moved out to a hotel for a while, despite the fact that they were co-parenting.

“But there is still a huge amount of feeling between them. They’ve been together for 12 years and have two beautiful children. So they have decided to give it one last try.

“They both desperately want to be a family again and are going to do all it takes to make it work. But Alesha’s friends aren’t convinced it will last. Ultimately, none of their problems have been fixed, so it’s going to be tough.”

Alesha previously discussed her marriage to Azuka on a TV talk show, explaining: “I was kind of playing hard to get for about a year,” the star confessed.

“And then I had the foot operation and I couldn’t walk and he was literally sleeping on the floor looking after me every day. I was just looking at him thinking, ‘That is for better or for worse isn’t it.’ I looked a state, he was sleeping on the floor because I was on the couch, I couldn’t even get up the stairs. If he can carry me to the toilet then he’s a keeper.”

Alesha later sweetly admitted she didn’t see herself having children until she met her husband. Speaking on their relationship on Giovanna Fletcher’s podcast, she shared: “He was the first person that I’d met, that I knew that we could have children together because of our values, our morals, our thinking aligned…

“The thought of having children with someone who could do something toxic or show them something toxic that I saw as a child frightened me more than anything in the world.”

Noel Gallagher took to the stage for Oasis’s final night in Ireland during their current 2025 tour and was the subject of some vicious boos. The 58-year-old appeared to be irate his audience at Croke Park, Ireland, for the second of two nights.

Noel, who stunned fans last year when he reunited with his brother Liam Gallagher to announce the current Oasis Live’25 Tour, posed the question, “Anyone from Manchester?” before half-performing in Half The World Away on Sunday night. He didn’t anticipate the reaction, though, as the crowd booed.

He continued, “Excuse me, excuse me,” shocked by the response. Booing for Manchester residents? Oh no, that won’t work, no, no, no, no! Be nice”! Lennon, Liam’s oldest son, made the decision to boycott the Dublin concerts and travel to Ibiza.

As he introduced Half The World Away, he said: “This is for the Royle Family – the real Royal Family,” a swipe at the House of Windsor. Ahead of Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee, he said he wasn’t “anti-royal” but noted that the “appeal” of the monarchy had been “dwindling”.

Before calling the monarchy “a little farcical,” he said, “There are other things that people should be interested in.”

Noel and Liam played two sold-out shows at the iconic Irish venue, which can accommodate more than 80, 000 audience members at once, but the frosty response from the Dublin audience was unable to maintain a successful weekend. On Saturday night, they performed to a crowded audience, which included some extended family members.

On Saturday, Liam revealed that his mother, Peggy, was standing next to him as he sang a song in honor of her. He told the audience, “This one, I want to dedicate to my mum, my mum is here tonight,” before performing Stand By Me.

After a brief hiatus that began in 2009, proud mother Peggy has been supporting her sons. They have decided to put aside their differences and perform for fans.

The Gallagher Mawas was questioned about Noel and Liam’s reunion in a June interview. She responded, “Yes, I was the instigator. But wasn’t it going to happen at some point, surely? Of course, that was their choice. Look, you can’t make them do things they don’t want to.

Noel’s 25-year-old daughter Anas Gallagher was also on the show on Saturday. She shared video clips of a friend singing along to Live Forever on social media while enjoying herself in the crowd.

She then uploaded a photo of her dad and her uncle Liam performing live music to the delight of Oasis fans. Oasis will next fly to Canada to play in Toronto following their Dublin shows.

Gigs will then take them across North America before they return to the UK for two more London shows. They then head to Asia, Australia, and then South America – with the tour ending in Brasil in late November.

Tommy Fury reveals brutal Molly-Mae wake-up call as ‘everything was gone’

Tommy Fury, a boxer and Love Island star, candidly reflects on the day he realized he needed to change after Molly-Mae Hague left him.

Molly-Mae Hague had to make a difficult choice to leave Tommy Fury.

Tommy Fury has opened up on the harrowing moment he knew he needed to change or face losing his family forever. The former Love Island star-turned-boxer, 26, seemed to have it all with his lavish home life with Molly-Mae Hague and their baby daughter, as well as his flourishing career.

However, everything came crashing down following a fight in January 2024 that saw him damage his hand. Tommy was unable to train,n and the lack of discipline left his life in tatters.

He turned to drink after hitting “rock bottom”, which resulted in him losing his fiancé and two-year-old Bambi. It comes after Vogue Williams quits drinking after blacking out drunk at lavish showbiz wedding.

Tommy struggled with his drinking issues, so Molly-Mae made the difficult but understandable choice to leave their family home. He admitted, “I had enough alcohol to last me a lifetime in 2024.”

“Unfortunately, you discover that all you can do is sit down and then a few of them (drinks) take the pain away one day. You forget what’s happening and where you are. And that’s where it obviously begins when you occasionally crave that sensation constantly.

Tommy admitted: “Now, when I look at that person from back then, I don’t even recognise that guy. It’s just not me. Back then, I didn’t really care about anything. It was like the world going by, wasn’t bothered, and that’s just not me.”

The boxer claims he is now hardly touching any alcohol and hasn’t consumed any of it. If it’s a wedding or something similar, I might have a few drinks going forward. Nobody should be doing it, he said, “four or five times per week is something nobody should be doing.”

Under the same roof, Molly-Mae and Tommy have been rekindling their romance and lives together. However, Tommy really gained weight from her upping and leaving.

Tommy recalled that when I woke up one morning, Molly and the baby were gone. What’s happening, I thought at that moment, “Wow, what’s going on? ” And that’s when I first started trying to make changes.”

Speaking to the Mirror earlier this month, Tommy shared his pain of being alone in their Cheshire mansion. He spent a lot of time “sitting in a big dark room” by himself.

He said, “That’s what I was doing most days. You spend a lot of time thinking about things when you’re all by yourself and wish you could never go down that path, but it has happened.

Last summer, the couple shocked fans with their split announcement. Soon after, rumours started to spread that Tommy had cheated on Molly-Mae, leaving him “horrified”.

A Tommy’s spokesperson at the time furiously refuted the assertions. Tommy is consulting his attorneys and is horrified by the false allegations being made by the media, they told the Mirror. The father-of-one was called “distraught” because he was aware that the allegations couldn’t possibly be further from the truth.

And when it was taken away, and it hit us like a ton of bricks, it was ten times worse for her. We simply went into a somewhat negative place. And to be honest, I pretended to be completely fine in front of her while pretending to be cool.

It is not the only point at which Adam becomes overcome during Sunday night’s episode, however. Another task shows the participants – who include former footballers Adebayo Akinfenwa and Troy Deeney, boxer Conor Benn, and The Traitors star Harry Clark – reading out letters they penned to be distributed in the event of their death.

In a subsequent confessionals conversation, Adam praised Laura, saying, “She definitely helped me open up,” despite the fact that he was speaking directly to the camera.
