Donald Trump has celebrated ABC’s decision to axe Jimmy Kimmel Live! following the host’s comments about the killing of Charlie Kirk. The American political activist was shot dead last week during a debate in Utah.

On Monday, Kimmel used his programme to accuse the US president and his allies of “doing their best to fan the flames following the assassination. And now the organisation that airs his show, ABC, has revealed it is taking the long-running programme off air, with Andrew Alford, president of Nexstar’s broadcasting division, saying it “strongly objects” to Kimmel’s comments.

This has resulted in ABC receiving Trump’s support. He crudely addressed Truth Social, saying “congratulations to ABC” and that Kimmel lacks talent. Other high-end celebrities have expressed gratitude for the decision, but they haven’t.

Jamie Lee Curtis was among those sharing her disbelief at the decision. On her Instagram Story, she shared a quote attributed to the comedian alongside of photo of him. “I don’t think anybody should be canceled. I really don’t,” it read.

Additionally, John Legend, a singer, criticized the decision in a post. How dare you refer to us as fascists just because our appointees threaten government retaliation against broadcast networks if our comedians don’t say what we want them to say, according to David Frum’s original post.

And on Twitter/X, Ben stiller reposted ABC’s decision to pull the show and added: “This isn’t right.”

Kimmel had criticized the Republican response to Kirk’s death in what he claimed he thought was hypocritical. The presenter’s contract with the program is set to expire in May of next year, and insiders believe he is currently “looking for ways to get out” of the agreement.

It is believed Kimmel, 57, is set to go on Stephen Colbert’s show in the US in the coming days as Colbert – a Democrat – has also been criticised by Mr Trump after his show was axed by CBS in the summer.

Speaking to Daily Mail a source said: “They both are in the same predicament with being against the Trump administration, and they are now looking to do something together to fight for what they believe in.

They both oppose Trump in any way or manner, and this has stoked Jimmy’s desire to keep telling the truth and remain true to himself.

Tyler Robinson, 22, is accused of shooting Kirk dead at the university. The FBI claims it has uncovered a message where he indicated he would kill the MAGA activist before the shooting took place. An alleged note chillingly claims Robinson had vowed to seize the chance to “take out” the firebrand activist, according to the organisation.

What did Jimmy Kimmel say about Charlie Kirk shooting to get ABC show axed

Following controversy over comments the host made about Charlie Kirk’s tragic shooting, ABC suspended Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night program.

The network pulled the program after several ABC-affiliated stations objected to comments Kimmel made during Monday and Tuesday shows.

The comedian claimed that many people in MAGA land are actively pursuing profits from Charlie Kirk’s murder.

After Kirk American right-wing activist Kirk was shot on September 10 at an event on a campus at Utah University, he made a statement. Tyler Robinson, 22, was charged with aggravated murder after the conservative activist’s death, and he appeared in court on Tuesday.

Kimmel compared the actions of FBI director Kash Patel to a young person who had not read the book “BSing his way through an oral report” and claimed that the president’s response to Kirk’s death “is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he called a friend.”

Kimmel claimed that “The MAGA Gang] is desperate to characterize this kid who killed Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and uses all means to gain political advantage from it.

There was grieving in the space of the fingerpointing.

Kimmel then made fun of JD Vance’s choice to host Kirk’s podcast the following night.

Kimmel said in his opening monologue for Tuesday night’s show that “many in Maga-land are working very hard to capitalize on the murder of Charlie Kirk.” He claimed without proof that the US vice-president, JD Vance, was to blame for Kirk’s death.

Donald Trump, who was once a guest on the show, has hailed the news.
Donald Trump, who was once a guest on the show, has hailed the news.

While our side of the aisle certainly has its crazies, Vance said while hosting a White House episode of Kirk’s podcast that the majority of the lunatics in American politics are proud to be far leftists.

Kimmel remarked to the audience in his studio, “And statistical fact, he means “complete bulls***.” Then he explained to the audience a study that revealed far-right organizations were the nation’s top targets for domestic terrorism and extremist violence. The study was removed from the website by the Department of Justice.

Who wanted to hang the man who was vice president before you, JD Vance might be able to answer? The liberal left, was that? Or the toothless army that stormed the Capitol on January 6? “he said.

Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Brendan Carr also expressed his resentment over the comments, which suggested the FCC could revoke affiliate licenses if Kimmel wasn’t punished. He claimed that the comments “constituted the sickest conduct possible” and that Kimmel had been held accountable.

The firing of commentators and the cancellation of shows was deemed “coordinated” and “dangerous,” according to California Governor Gavin Newsom.

During his first day of travel to the UK, Trump praised ABC’s decision in a post on Truth Social, writing: “Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done.”

If it’s possible, Kimmel has ZERO talent and worse ratings than Stephen Colbert.

Hollywood stars backed Kimmel, with Sophia Bush claiming that the “First Amendment doesn’t exist in America anymore” while actor Ben Stiller claimed in a post on X the move “isn’t right” and actress Sophia Bush supporting the move.

CBS, a rival network, announced in July that it would stop hosting The Late Show With Stephen Colbert in May for financial reasons. Colbert has criticized Donald Trump.

Kimmel’s comments were “offensive and insensitive at a crucial time in our national political discourse,” according to Nexstar Communications Group, which owns more than 20 ABC affiliates.

Sinclair, which runs ABC’s largest number of affiliates, made similar assertions.

The company announced in a statement posted to X that a special would be broadcast on Friday in honor of Charlie Kirk and that Kimmel should formally apologize to Kirk’s family.

“Jimmy Kimmel Live’s suspension will not be lifted by Sinclair!” “on our stations until formal discussions are held with ABC regarding the network’s commitment to professionalism and accountability,” the statement said.

Love Island’s Georgia Steel joins new campaign to protect students from romance scams

Romance scams are a new category of online fraud, according to recent research from Tinder. Victims who lose more than £2, 000 on average are particularly vulnerable, especially students and recent graduates.

As the new term begins, Tinder is collaborating with Get Safe Online and former Love Islander Georgia Steel to help students make connections safely as the term develops.

Love Island star Georgia Steel has joined forces with Tinder and Get Safe Online in a bid to protect young people from online romance scams.

Freshers and recent graduates are increasingly falling victim to a new type of online scam, specifically targeting those looking for love. Romance scams are on the rise and duping even the tech-savviest young adults, with an average reported loss of £2,228 per scam.

According to new research findings commissioned by Tinder, 44% of students and graduates admitted to sharing personal details online with someone they have never met in person; details including their university address, phone number and even their bank information.

Georgia says being scammed was one of the most traumatic periods in her life(Image: Instagram/ @geesteelx)

When it comes to online dating, this readiness to trust is leaving young people vulnerable to exploitation. The findings show that 65% of the 2,000 18-24 year-olds surveyed overlooked something they considered a warning sign in the past because they wanted to have fun.

Last year, Georgia opened up about being scammed by someone she was dating. A year after appearing on the Love Island, Georgia had begun dating a wealthy American called Miguel Johnson, who had showered her with gifts.

However, he was actually found guilty of lying and was actually connected to a fraudster named Medi Abalimba, who was once a football player and appeared on Crystal Palace and Liverpool’s books. She later learned that he had defrauded two unsuspecting chauffeurs and record label manager, raising the total cost of his deceptions to more than £170, 000.

After admitting 15 counts of fraud between January and March 2021, the con artist from Camden was imprisoned for four years and two months.

Georgia said: “I had no idea he was a convicted fraudster.” She spoke on the Secure The Insecure podcast in 2023. Another error was made, but we learned a new lesson. Although it was undoubtedly a traumatic experience, I now see the light and believe I’ve recovered from it. In my opinion, it serves as a way to illuminate other young men and women. You never believe it will be you.

Tinder’s research also indicates that scams are becoming harder to spot, with 63% of those surveyed saying romance scams now sound more convincing than ever.

Detective Superintendent Oliver Little at the City of London Police, the National Lead Force for fraud, says romance scams are particularly common during the first weeks of university. “Romance fraud isn’t just about stolen money – it’s about stolen trust. For many students, freshers week marks a new chapter filled with excitement and possibility, but it also brings heightened vulnerability.

“Criminals know this and exploit it, often using charm and emotional manipulation to deceive victims.” Little emphasises that romance scams affect everyone “regardless of age, gender, or experience” but that stigma still exists around reporting, especially among younger demographics.

A manipulative criminal saw an opportunity and seized it by being targeted by a romance fraud, not because you’re naive. According to the survey results from Tinder, 31% of those who were defrauded said they didn’t speak out because they felt embarrassed.

Data from the City of London Police collected between 2024 and 2025 reveals that among 18-24 year olds who reported being defrauded, the average loss was £2,228 per scam, with young men aged 18–24 making up 64% of victims – double the rate of young women.

To help students feel confident meeting new people as they start the new term, Tinder is joining forces with Get Safe Online and Georgia to share tools that will help them stay scam-smart online.

It’s simple to let your guard down, Georgia said, referring to the need to be aware of romance scams. My counsel? Enjoy the experience, but continue to be scam-smart by listening to your gut and asking questions. I regret not receiving this kind of support sooner.

In the UK this September, Tinder will also release an in-app Swipe Card to help students identify potential romance scams. It will offer quick, easy-to-follow advice to students during Freshers Week to help them date more confidently and safely.

Jimmy Kimmel is said to be “p*ssed” over ABC’s decision to axe his late-night show indefinitely.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! has been scrapped following the veteran host’s divisive comments about the reaction to Charlie Kirk’s assassination on Monday and Tuesday’s shows. A group of ABC-affiliated stations said it would not air the programme, citing the remarks broadcast less than one week after the killing as the reason.

However, according to sources, the host, who has hosted and been the show’s executive producer since 2003, “isn’t going to take this lightly.” According to an insider, Jimmy is upset that he was forced to suspend him and the show, and he won’t take it lightly because he is actively looking for ways to leave his contract. Jimmy is now looking to end his relationship with ABC forever with this decision.

“Many in MAGA land are working very hard to capitalize on the murder of Charlie Kirk,” Kimmel said. The MAGA gang is frantically trying to characterize this kid as anything other than Charlie Kirk, and they are doing everything they can to get political points out of it, he added on Monday’s program.

Nexstar Communications Group, which owns 23 ABC affiliates, labeled these as “offensive and insensitive,” and ABC itself took action quickly on Wednesday. Kimmel, who hasn’t commented on the decision, has, however, publicly stated on Truth Social: “Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done.”

Country singer Spencer Hatcher’s mother was murdered by an armed intruder in the middle of the night.

Following the violent stabbing, which police described as “apparently completely random,” Spencer, 28, expressed his grief yesterday. In a heartbreaking tribute to the woman who worked as a teacher in Harrisonburg, a city in Virginia, he called his mother, Holly, “his biggest fan.”

The up-and-coming country artist thanked fans for their support since the August 3 attack, saying, “You all sent so many loving comments and messages and made posts and everything. We tried our best to read them, but I just want to let you know how grateful we are and how you are all.

She was everything I did with the most support and support I could muster. She adored the music. She adored everything about it. She adored the performances and the music. And I’ve already made the decision to continue making music, making faces in people’s eyes, and playing on the stage and everything else after much thought, prayer, and speaking with my label about doing it, you know.

Despite the challenging time since, Spencer told fans he is determined to continue with the rest of his tour, and write new music. In a YouTube video, in which he addressed his fans, Spencer added: “I know that is what my mom would want me to do. She would want me to keep on, and I know how much she loved it, and I know how much y’all love it.”
