Meghan Markle’s favourite magazine turns on her with very scathing ‘can’t stop flopping’ review

A magazine once favoured by Meghan Markle has seemingly turned against the Duchess of Sussex with a very scathing review.

The harsh article in The Cut was titled ‘Harry and Meghan’s Projects Can’t Stop Flopping’.

Pop culture news and entertainment writer Danielle Cohen commented on the couple’s “tortured attempts to launch a successful Stateside endeavour” which she wrote “continued this week” with the release of Polo on Netflix. The five-part series about Prince Harry’s favourite sport has been met with poor reviews, leading Cohen to predict: “Seems like this one is bound for the same fate as Markle’s beleaguered jam company.”

This critique comes shortly after The Cut highlighted the struggles faced by Meghan’s American Riviera Orchard “lifestyle brand”, which launched by gifting jars of strawberry jam to celebrities such as Kris Jenner and Chrissy Teigen.

This was followed by allegations that employees were leaving the new company, coupled with a trademark dispute from US food and gift company Harry and David, which sells Royal Riviera Pears. Olivia Craighead, who reports on pop culture and celebrity, wrote: “For Markle’s sake, I hope the next big story about ARO has the headline ‘Meghan Markle finally launches jam, ‘The best I’ve ever had,’ says King Charles.’ Maybe we’ll get a Christmas miracle.”

The negative coverage is significant given that The Cut, part of liberal New York Magazine, famously published a cover interview with the 43-year-old Duchess in August 2022, where she made derogatory comments about other members of the Royal family, reports the Scottish Daily Express.

Meghan Markle has openly expressed that she and Prince Harry were “happy” to leave the UK, disrupting the Royal hierarchy “upsetting the dynamic of the hierarchy… just by existing”. In his conversation with the magazine, Harry hinted at the challenges within the family, saying some relatives “aren’t able to work and live together”.

The feature, titled ‘Meghan Markle on Her New Life in California’, showcased a series of photographs by Campbell Addy. Meghan later confessed to being “too trusting” and “too open” during her interview with The Cut, seemingly criticising the publication and interviewer Allison P Davis. The magazine also caused controversy by labelling King Charles as a “big, fussy baby and a jerk” regarding his conduct at his mother’s funeral and accused him of “mundane cruelty” towards Princess Diana.

Notably, following the Queen’s passing, The Cut published an incendiary piece headlined: ‘I Won’t Cry Over the Death of a Violent Oppressor.”

‘I tried an interactive game and it brought my family together for Christmas’

It’s almost Christmas, which means it’s the time of year when my family is all in one place and spending lots of time together. With lots of siblings, nieces and nephews, we often struggle to settle on what to do with that time – but not this year.

Aside from the usual trips to see Santa and seasonal walks in the park, I was hoping to find an activity that the whole family could do together – and stay warm while we were at it. I found the perfect solution with Particula’s Go Balance Play.

The GoBalance Play is a smart wobble balance board that connects to any Android or iOS device via Bluetooth. It comes with a free companion app that has 12 interactive and balance-challenging games, including snowboarding or mini golf.

The device is a battery-powered half-ball balance trainer which has sensors that connect to your phone or tablet. The sensors track your movements and provide real-time feedback on your balance journey.

The GoBlance Play weighs under 2lbs, which means it can be easily carried and set up anywhere you want. It supports up to 330lbs and has an anti-slip surface to keep adults and kids stable and secure.

With kids aged five and up giving it a go, I was initially concerned the device might be a bit too wobbly, but I needn’t have worried as the anti-slip surface worked well, and it was stable enough to endure a little rough play from the kids.

While it was somewhat difficult to inflate the cushion for the base, it was simple enough to set the device up and connect it to the TV. The games were bright and entertaining – and simple enough to play that it meant the GoBalance Play was ideal for the whole family.

The most popular game for us was snowboarding, but each of the others was fun to play. The board turned our living room into an interactive playground, proving hugely popular with the entire family.

Aside from a huge amount of family fun, the GoBalance Play is also great for keeping active without leaving your home. As someone who much prefers an at-home workout, the chance to develop my motor skills, core strength, flexibility, coordination and concentration through one device was a massive bonus.

I’ve used the balance board regularly to exercise, whether its been for a quick workout or a more extensive exercise session and loved every moment, particularly the real-time feedback provided. I’m definitely looking forward to using it to help work off some of the festive food on the menu in the coming weeks.

What did other people say?

The GoBalance Play has an 4.4 star rating online, having racked up a number of rave reviews. Among them, one person said: “A solid choice I’d been considering getting a balance board for a while and finally chose GoBalance. Though it’s a newer product, I decided to give it a chance and was pleasantly surprised.

“It’s enjoyable to use, and my kids took to it quicker than I expected. There are plenty of games the app suggests, and they liked most of them. We ended up spending quite a bit of time with it. Overall, I’m pleased with the purchase.”

A second wrote: “I was pleasantly surprised by how fun GoBalance is from the very first moment! Setting it up was quick and easy, and connecting it to a bigger TV display made the experience even better. The cushion was a bit tricky to inflate initially, but after watching the instructions and squeezing firmly on the nozzle base, it was manageable.

“Once everything was ready, the kids jumped right in—and even started arguing over who got to play next! That’s probably the best measure of how much they enjoy it. Overall, it’s a great product for fun and active family time and I expect to use it regularly during the holiday season when it’s too cold to go outside.”

Another added: “The GoBalance Play is excellent for interactive games and balance training. It’s not just a workout device; it’s a fun way to stay active. The different game levels keep me motivated, and I love the real-time feedback. It’s a unique product that makes balance training enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to have fun while improving their balance.”

However, others shared that they’d dealt with issues when using the board. One person said: “I tried to surprise my kids with this activity but there is a tube you have to blow up. Ours can’t be blown up. It has solid plastic blocking the way. I tried inserting a straw, squeezing the sides, using an electric pump…. no air would go in the tube. I tried contacting the seller but they told me to squeeze the sides. Already tried that. I will return this product without being able to use it.”

The GoBalance Play is currently priced at £79.99 online and can be purchased at Very or Amazon. Very also stocks the GoBalance Sport for £99.99, another app-enabled balance board with a smart 3D sensor and Bluetooth connectivity. It comes with various interactive trainer programs and 12 free games.

Russell Grant’s Horoscopes as Aquarius initiates a tough conversation

It’s Saturday, and one star sign should reach out to a friend, while another could stumble upon an unexpected opportunity.

There are 12 zodiac signs – Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces – and the horoscopes for each can give you the lowdown on what your future holds, be it in work, your love life, your friends and family or more.

These daily forecasts have been compiled by astrologer Russell Grant, who has been reading star signs for over 50 years. From Aries through to Pisces, here’s what today could bring for your horoscope – and what you can do to be prepared.

Aries (Mar 21 – Apr 20)

If it has been a while since you last caught up with a friend, why not drop them a message or give them a call? This would be a nice way to show you care and keep those connections strong. Finding goodness in yourself, in others and in the world should be your focus, now.

Taurus (Apr 21 – May 21)

If a friend pulls out of plans you made together, treat yourself to a solo outing. If you keep waiting for other people to choose an activity, time or venue that works for everyone, you might end up feeling you’re missing out on having some fun.

Gemini (May 22 – June 21)

It doesn’t matter what has been happening recently, it’s time to cultivate a positive outlook. This may involve being choosy about where you direct your focus and energy. Remember, just because you have the ability to do something, this doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the right choice for you.

Cancer (June 22 – July 23)

A lucky opportunity will convince you that your Guardian Angel is watching over you. A short trip you had thought about cancelling will actually be very fortunate. Someone you meet at an evening festive event will help you further an important aim.

Leo (July 24 – Aug 23)

There’s still preparation to be done before any buttons can be pressed. With the amount of time and effort you are putting into this, very soon, all will be ready. A new project is on the verge of being launched and the excitement is palpable. You might even choose to work additional hours to be part of a big occasion.

Virgo (Aug 24 – Sept 23)

You’ve been hiding your feelings for fear of being rejected. Now you can see how this has been causing misunderstandings. You’re all set now to let someone in. Your courage will pay off. When it comes to money, you will get just what you need right when you need it.

Libra (Sept 24 – Oct 23)

It’s exhausting to have to listen to other people’s opinions. Refuse to allow someone else’s mockery to hold you back from a chance to improve your life. Dismiss any uncertainties they’ve planted in your mind regarding your skills. Show those who matter that you have what it takes to handle new responsibilities.

Scorpio (Oct 24 – Nov 22)

A joint effort is making good progress. If you’re thinking about teaming up for a business venture, you have the right experience behind you to make it happen. You could stumble upon an unexpected opportunity so keep an eye out for a nice surprise or a fortunate twist in your plans.

Sagittarius (Nov 23 – Dec 21)

This day isn’t just about what you accomplish alone. It’s also a time to join forces with others to tackle work and responsibilities. At the same time, you might run into a few bumps in a relationship that needs sorting out. This is a reminder to focus on your ability to get along harmoniously.

Capricorn (Dec 22 – Jan 20)

You accept you have taken on far too much lately. It is time to simplify your career goals into a workable strategy. It isn’t always easy to take action on your ideas especially when you’re focusing too much on the distant future.

Aquarius (Jan 21 – Feb 19)

You’re tempted to avoid having to discuss subjects that make you feel uncomfortable. It would be better to take a deep breath and initiate a tough conversation. Establishing boundaries with a relative or reminding a housemate to help with chores can help ease built-up frustration.

Pisces (Feb 20 – Mar 20)

If you don’t ask, you won’t receive. This old saying serves as a reminder that for you to achieve your desires, you need to express them. Let people know what you are hoping for. Don’t hesitate to express your thoughts. You could be pleasantly surprised by the response and the outcome.

The White Company’s snuggle robe makes ‘perfect present’ – but it’s hard to give away

Nothing says luxury like a fluffy robe, and The White Company’s fans are convinced a £60 Snuggle Robe is perfect for Christmas gifting. The ‘cosy’ robe is available in white or pale grey, with sizes spanning from XS to XL, and it’s received heaps of positive reviews, from self-care lovers and festive shoppers alike.

A quick browse of the online reviews suggests the product is a very popular Christmas present. One happy customer shared: “Bought as Xmas present looks lovely and cosy.” A second wrote: “This was the third snuggle robe that I have bought for my granddaughters.

“They love them I can be found wearing them any time of day. Snuggle is definitely the word to describe them,” while someone revealed: “Bought it for someone else, but really liked it, so decided to keep it, lovely and soft, very comfortable.”

Echoing the praise, a shopper said: “Beautiful quality material. Lightweight and warm,” someone replied: “What a beautiful robe! Soft and indulgent,” and yet another fan wrote: “A lovely comfortable robe. So soft and a great length. Also nice and light. Perfect.”

However, it’s worth mentioning the robe wasn’t thick enough for some customers. One reviewer commented: “Thinner than expected.” A second suggested the robe is ‘overpriced’, while another wrote: “The robe was a bit shapeless and (more importantly) the colour was more off-white with a pink/grey tinge, so I returned it.”

Reviewing Boux Avenue’s offering, shoppers praised the ‘soft and warm’ material but noted it is ‘just a bit too long’ for shorter customers.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry ‘raise eyebrows’ with new controversial behaviour around Netflix show

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s latest Netflix polo project has made a low-key debut, a departure from the usual high-profile launches associated with the Sussexes. The series surfaced without the expected promotional fanfare typically linked to their content.

Neither Meghan nor Harry participated in interviews to promote the show, choosing instead to step back from joint media appearances and attend events individually. Hollywood commentator Sean McNulty found the lack of a strong promotional drive for the Duke and Duchess’s series rather odd.

Speaking to The Daily Beast, he said: “The lack of a proper, visible press campaign for a series from Harry and Meghan raises an eyebrow to say the least.”

As Netflix appears to be directing its efforts towards other major content like Carry-On and stars Jamie Foxx and Sabrina Carpenter this week, McNulty suggested that the polo series “could very well disappear into the Netflix ether quite quickly”. Even the couple’s friends have been unusually quiet.

Nacho Figueras, a close friend linked with both the sport of polo and the couple’s new series, only posted a handful of tweets and a single Instagram story about it. A branding specialist warned that the lukewarm critical response to Harry and Meghan’s Netflix project could potentially affect their contract with the streaming giant, reports the Express.

Brand expert Nick Ede expressed his worries to MailOnline about the tepid response to Meghan and Harry’s latest documentary venture. He remarked: “The new polo documentary hasn’t received good reviews, and this is another foray into producing from Meghan and Harry.”

Ede underscored the importance of the documentary’s ranking in Netflix’s top ten, suggesting it could mirror the initial success of the Invictus documentary due to the public’s curiosity with the couple and the sport of polo.

He continued: “It could, like the Invictus documentary, start well due to the public’s fascination with the pair and with polo potentially.”

Meghan Markle ‘shot down’ former ESPN host as he recalls exact moment after he slid into her DMs

Long before Meghan Markle fell in love with Prince Harry and became the Duchess of Sussex we know today, one former ESPN host has revealed he had hoped to find romance with the star, but things didn’t quite go to plan. Former ESPN host Ryen Russillo once slid into Meghan’s DM’s after running into each other while playing a game of celebrity flag football, but despite his high hopes, Russillo, now 49, revealed that Meghan wasn’t nearly as thrilled about the prospect during Super Bowl weekend 2014, reports UsWeekly.

Recalling their meeting on The Bill Simmons podcast, Ryen revealed: “We played in a celebrity flag football game together and it was all of the [ Sports Illustrated ] swimsuit models. So, nobody was really paying any attention to Markle.”

The game featured a host of former NFL stars and famous faces including The Vampire Diaries actress Nina Dobrev, Black Panther star Michael B Jordan, and Sports Illustrated models like Chrissy Teigen, Nina Agdal and Hannah Davis, meaning Meghan was in some impressive company for the fun-filled match.

“I was like, ‘That’s my lane. She’s probably doubting herself a little bit right now,’” Russillo remembered. “She’s never been more obtainable.”

The game took place just before Suits season 4 premiered, and was around two years before Meghan first started dating her future husband Prince Harry. Following the conclusion of the game however, Russillo decided to shoot his shot and send the future-Duchess a cheeky DM.

“It was a very soft sell,” Russillo explained. “It was, ‘Hey, I know the new season of Suits is coming out if you ever want to come on the show to promote it.’ It was really professional.”

Despite the professional sell however, he did admit he had an ulterior motive at play adding: “It was like a gauging of interest,” he said. “Like, if I got an emoji back, who knows?”

Not long after sending the DM, Meghan did respond to the invitation, but it wasn’t quite the warm reception Russillo might have hoped for. “It was ice cold,” Russillo recalled. DM. “It was, ‘Oh, I don’t know anything about sports, but thanks for the offer.’”

Ultimately, Russillo said: “It didn’t work out.”

Although no budding romance ensued from the celebrity flag football game, Meghan did however walk away with a lifelong friendship, as it was the very same match that saw her meet and befriend her new BFF Serena Williams.

“When Serena Williams barrelled in my direction this past February at an event, nails done, hair done, everything did, I’ll be honest and say I looked behind me to see who she was running to. It was Serena Williams, after all,” Markle wrote on her blog The Tig in August 2014.

Markle continued: “We hit it off immediately, taking pictures, laughing through the flag football game we were both playing in, and chatting not about tennis or acting, but about all the good old fashioned girly stuff. So began our friendship. She quickly became a confidante I would text when I was traveling, the friend I would rally around for her tennis matches, and the down to earth chick I was able to grab lunch with just a couple weeks ago in Toronto.”
