Coronation Street star Denise Black told ‘you’re too fat and disabled for telly’

Denise Black, the actress from Coronation Street and Waterloo Road, was born with a condition that affected the muscles on her right arm. As a result, it got worse as she tried to hide it from attention.

Coronation Street seductress Denise Black has revealed how, as a young actress, she was told that she was too fat and too disabled to work in television. She earned millions of fans during her five years on the cobbles playing hairdresser Denise Osbourne, who had a passionate love affair with Ken Barlow, but says that some TV companies shockingly wrote her off.

Denise, 67, who was born with a condition that causes her fingers to slam against one another, says: “I’ve been told I’m too fat for television, I’m too disabled for television,” despite the fact that she has been given the condition. All of this nonsense is a “you have to fit in and you don’t fit.”

I felt very sorry when people pointed out things that were wrong with me because of my lack of self-esteem, doubt that I was right, desire to please, look good, and lack of confidence in myself.

On Kaye Adams’ How to Be 60 podcast, she continues, “You’ve got a lovely face, it’s a shame about your body,” she says. You lose confidence in yourself. I’m a fantastic person who “loves people as they are.” “

The actress, who joined Emmerdale in 2013 as Joanie Dingle, the adoptive grandmother of Amy Wyatt’s son Kyle, believes her condition worsened as a result of trying to hide it on screen for so long. She explains: “I think the reason it’s like this is because for 30 years I hid it out of the camera under the table, and it clawed over through lack of use. There’s a regret. I don’t think you get into your 60s without the odd regret.”

Denise, who played Ken Barlow’s mistress in the 1990s, became one of the most well-known faces on television when she gave birth to Daniel, his son. She claims she wasn’t aware of her character’s turbulent romantic life until she realized it.

“I genuinely didn’t know,” she insists. “When I did a comeback, they put together a YouTube of ‘Who is Denise Osbourne?’ I looked at this woman. I went,‘Jesus, I was hot.’ I had no idea. I wish I’d known I was hot, but I didn’t.”

However, since her 60s, Denise has grown more confident and isn’t as concerned with what other people think. You don’t care about other people’s approval in the same way about them because you know you’re a little better, she says.

Denise recently joined the cast of the popular BBC series Waterloo Road, playing Mo, the grandmother of Liam Scholes’ character Noel McManus. She can also currently be seen in the raunchy TV adaption of Jilly Cooper’s 1988 novel Rivals, playing frumpy straight-laced secretary Joyce Madden.

She says, “My character doesn’t get any in this second shag-fest that I’ve been involved in.” They did discuss something with Miss Madden, and I responded, “No, please,” because it’s awful to have to film that kind of thing. Who would want to appear on a popular show? It is fantastic. Miss Madden is a very enjoyable game. I’ve never been cast as the invisible woman before because she is the invisible woman. I wear a wig and look hilarious in it.

After deciding to stop coloring her hair when she was 60, Denise claims that the roles she was given had a significant impact. She claims that the dye has dried off. In a play in 2018, I was the magnolia color. After that, I stopped dyeing my hair, which had a significant impact on the casting.

“I’m going to be a grandma forever, not a mother again,” she declares. However, my goal is to learn the lines as much as I can before I can live to 20 or 30 years.

She does feel a little let down by the casting change to the “sexual interest” Politically speaking, there are some political feelings that “don’t ignore me just because I have white hair and I’m 67.” Does not imply that I am physically dead, in fact. Thank you very much, I still reside in my body.”

Denise plays Lord Baddingham, the ruthless managing director of Corinium Television in the film Rivals, which premieres on Disney+. And the show’s chauvinism and debauchery brought back memories of Denise’s early television days.

She says, “I remembered things that were really difficult, really MeToo-like,” things that you just took in your stride because that’s how it was. So that I can see it a little objectively, I enjoyed that bridge back to the past.

This is a wealthy, spoiled bunch of people acting disrespectfully. Who else enjoys watching that, anyway? It has a retro-feel to it that is also pertinent.

A TV actress for 36 years, Denise has had an illustrious career. One of her best loved roles was that of Hazel Tyler, the free-spirited mum that all gay men wanted, in Russell T Davies’ ground-breaking 1999 series Queer as Folk. She also returned to Coronation Street in 2007 and 2017.

She claims there was a time when it won her audition invitations after feeling discriminated against because of her disability in her early years as an actress. She goes on to say, “Differiority has gotten a little more fashionable, but that also has some drawbacks.” People with disabilities can apply for this role after I was put up for castings.

“Now I have a problem with the word disability because it kind of implies that you are less than complete because it’s “dis.” I initially thought I had been invited to the freak show, but I didn’t quite feel that way. Therefore, more change could still be possible.

Denise, who has two adult children and is married to musician Paul Sand, says she never realized her disability would prevent her from growing up. She states that “you only become disabled when someone tells you that you are disabled.” “I would argue that I wasn’t disabled because it suggests that I’ve lost something that I might not have had otherwise. while making me feel truly special. I didn’t want to make up, but I felt special.

We look at people and say, “Well, that’s good, they’ve got that, but it’s shameful that they’ve got that.” No, it’s not who they are. Just let them exist. The big nose is lovely, the jug ears are lovely, and the teeth are fantastic!

Vernon Kay subjected to ‘massive guffaws’ while supporting Tess Daly at Strictly

Vernon Kay shared his thoughts on a shopping trip he took with his youngest daughter, Amber, and how it resulted in “massive guffawing” at his own expense.

Vernon Kay has confessed he was ridiculed over a “horrendous” fashion blunder when he turned up at Strictly Come Dancing to support his wife, Tess Daly. The presenter, who has two daughters, Phoebe and Amber, with Tess, revealed details about a shopping expedition he enjoyed with youngest daughter, Amber, in Central London during his time off last week.

During a recent episode of his BBC Radio 2 programme (October 27), Vernon explained how he’d decided to seize the chance to purchase some fresh jeans – a choice that would result in “massive guffawing” at his expense.

Following a suggestion he attributed to Amber, who’s “down with the kids”, he said she recommended he buy some baggy jeans. So Vernon, heeding her guidance, tried some on, decided he fancied them, and eventually purchased a pair.

Vernon’s humorous description of the trousers made the comparison to an “80s pair of women’s culottes,” but he said he liked them anyway and that they are “very airy.”

He said, “I like them, so you can imagine with my legs sticking out from the end of a big napkin.” I then attended Strictly Come Dancing with Amber on Saturday afternoon.

And when I entered, I was met with a frenzied, massive guffawing; ‘What… What are you wearing, haha? Wow! And Amber says, “They’re really cool.” “

Then he responded, “No, they’re horrendous! I was disappointed, Vernon continued, “I was walking in there feeling very cool,” but I didn’t. I’m attempting to follow the kids. “

Later during the programme, Vernon disclosed Tess’ response to his bold sartorial decision. He confessed that upon her return from Strictly, Tess – who is departing the programme alongside Claudia Winkleman – instructed him to “get rid of them”.

However, he said he retorted his response with the resolute: “No;” in a comically high voice. They appeal to me! He jokingly admitted that if he had wore them right away, he would “end up in the south of France” and would “fly away like a “kite” because of the gloomy weather.

In related news, reports have surfaced that Vernon has expressed his support for Tess following her unexpected exit announcement last week, which will mark the culmination of an impressive 21-year tenure on Strictly.

Responding to Tess’ Instagram statement, her spouse shared a series of heart emojis and liked the post. He also turned to his own social platforms in reaction, sharing an article confirming the departure on his Instagram Story alongside a ‘Breaking News’ GIF.

Vernon subsequently posted an artist’s depiction of Tess and Claudia, featuring the message: “What a fantastic duo they have been.”

Caroline Flack’s mother Christine reveals ‘biggest regret’ in first-look Disney+ clip

In a first-look clip from Disney+’s new two-part documentary Caroline Flack: Search for the Truth, Christine Flack’s mother has revealed her “big regret.”

Christine, Caroline Flack’s mother, expressed her deepest regret after the passing of her daughter. Caroline, 40, took her own life tragically, and her mother doesn’t want anyone else to experience the same nightmare.

In a first look clip from Disney+’s newest two-part documentary Caroline Flack: Search for the Truth, Christine addresses a memorial bench for Caroline along with her children.

Speaking of her daughter, Christine said: “I think Caroline would be pleased with what I’m doing. I wish I had done it then, before she took her own life, and that’s my biggest regret, that I wasn’t shouting like this, then. But now I have nothing to lose. The worst thing in the world happened with losing Carrie.”

Christine and Caroline’s children were pictured in the first look scene. She continued, “I come here, and you have different moods when you’re here, don’t you? ” I must have felt awful that day.

Another lonely year has passed, I just said. You missed me just as much as I did when you left today. I’m making every effort to explain to the world why some horrible people compelled you. I’ll keep fighting. I sincerely love you. “

Do you think there will ever be a moment when you can stop fighting, mother, Elizabeth asks Caroline’s older sister?

Then Christine said, “I hope I can stop. I’m hoping it will end. You can fight until the truth is revealed to you until the end of your life.

Elizabeth responded, “Your main concern is that you’re dealing with organizations that are so corrupt, they have so much money, legal experts, and can you ever truly find the truth in these organizations”…

“I only hope I can accomplish something.” And I’ll continue doing it as long as you all approve of it.

Christine previously spoke to The Mirror about her daughter’s legacy. She told us: “At the end, Carrie didn’t think there was anything to live for, she felt the world had turned against her. I hope people who read her story will see her life was wasted and may think twice about ending theirs. That’s how I want Carrie to be remembered, for inspiring people to live.

Caroline would speak to depressed people almost as though she knew what they were going through. Her compassion and kindness can continue to be used to help people through her bench and others.

She would be unbelievably proud, I am certain. A secure location where people could sit and reflect at any time of day or night was the goal. There are currently so many negative aspects to the world.

She continued, “I think that’s often why people give up, because they don’t see any hope,” adding about Caroline’s memorial bench. Even if it’s just to sit for five minutes and reflect on things in a secure space, Caroline’s bench offers hope. And I am aware from speaking with members of the neighborhood that it is frequently used. The QR code needed to be replaced because it was out so quickly.

Zoe Ball’s ex Norman Cook recalls ‘weird’ experience that ‘really threw me’ during marriage

Norman Cook recalls a “weird” incident he and his ex-wife Zoe Ball had in a Dubai hotel room when Alan Carr spoke about his travel-themed podcast, Life’s a Beach.

Norman Cook has recalled a “weird” experience he shared with ex-wife Zoe Ball in a hotel room. In a recent episode of Celebrity Traitors star Alan Carr’s travel-themed podcast, Life’s a Beach, Norman (who also goes by his DJ name Fatboy Slim) shared a strange detail that he and his former wife spotted in a hotel in Dubai.

The Praise You hitmaker was urged to dish the truth about “everything” by Alan after he asked about his “best hotel experience.” He claimed that this might include “butler service” or a “pillow menu,” which is reportedly a “pillow menu” in hotels.

Norman, whose 18-year relationship with Zoe came to an end in 2016, was then asked if he’d ever had such a “menu”. It prompted him to share a “weird” thing they found in a hotel.

He said: “No, I’ve had weird ones where me and Zoe stayed at a place in Dubai, and there was our wedding photo was in a frame by the bed.”

What did an unprepared Alan say in response? adding that it was actually “weird.”

Norman continued, “I believe they were trying to make us feel at home, so they kind of Googled our wedding photo, printed one, framed it, and embroidered my name on the pillow one time.” That really threw me, ” “

Elaborating further about this rather strange perk that he encountered during his hotel stay, Norman described how he opted to go downstairs to ask why his name had been immortalised in such a way.

Norman, who has two children Woody and Nelly with Zoe, claimed that he was informed that the staff believed he would “like it” and that, despite his pointing out how much “trouble” they had endured, they would “save it” for when he returned.

Meanwhile, Zoe, who first met Norman in Ibiza in 1998, recently opened up about the friendship she shares with him post-breakup on an episode of the Dig It podcast, which she hosts with Jo Whiley.

She explained how she didn’t want to follow the same path as her parents (who reportedly divorced in the 1970s).

After their breakup, Zoe argued that they “have to do right by our kids,” and she remained in touch with Norman.

She said, “My parents divorced. I felt really bad about getting divorced because I believed what happened to me was what caused my children to lose.
