The One Show’s Roman Kemp left red-faced as book signing turns into ‘one of my worst nights’

Roman Kemp, a presenter for One Show, described it as “one of the worst nights of my life” when only two people showed up for the signing of his book, the star’s security team, outnumbered them.

TV star Roman Kemp was mortified when only two people turned up to his book signing in what he called “one of the worst nights of my life”.

The One Show presenter released Are You Really OK? in 2022. The book itself was a success but the reception was not replicated when Roman agreed to do a book signing in the branch of a major clothing chain in London’s Oxford Circus.

Speaking to his friend, the singer Tom Grennan, on their You About? podcast, the 32-year-old admitted there were more security present that fans who turned up to a get a copy of Roman’s new book signed.

He said, “I s*** you not; I had more security than anyone who arrived.” It was undoubtedly the funniest thing ever for me.

His three security guards were given the appearance of buying the book because Roman explained that the publishers had said “we need to look like people are in there.”

You’ve got three guys in the photo pretending to sign their book, he continued, “so there.” The worst thing ever happened. After five minutes, we finished it. No one wanted the book signed, despite the success of the book.

One of my life’s worst nights, I thought. There were two people, in my opinion. There are two people there at the signing of your own book.

Singer Tom Grennan, who announced today that he would become a father, said he “would have been devastated” if the same thing had transpired.

Roman, whose dad is former Spandau Ballet and EastEnders star Martin Kemp, admitted he was skeptical about the book signing at first because he finds “anything PR led really cringe.

He claimed that there was a “big clothing store right on Oxford Circus” and that he had no idea where the event was taking place. Before being brought back to Earth, the radio presenter claimed it made him feel like a “big star.”

Roman declared, “It was a big deal. They said, “We’re going to have a holding area, so we’ll take you there, we’ll brief you there, get ready there, get hair done there,” and then proceed to say, “We’re going to have a holding area.”

“Big star,” I’m thinking, “This is alright, doing alright.” Three fellas and they say, “When we go in there, you know, I know people might want to say hello and stuff like that, but just stick with us and sit down and chat to them.”

“So we end up going through Oxford Street on almost the same route as I’ve never seen, just in case we want to see all the signs for “Roman Kemp book signing” at the back entrance of this store. No one was present, as it was.

Meghan Markle’s new Netflix show’s devastating reviews as she brushes off criticism

Critics have scathing reviews of the Duchess of Sussexes’ new lifestyle program just hours after the second season of With Love, Meghan premiered.

Just hours after the release of the second series of Meghan Markle’s lifestyle programme With Love, Meghan, critics have shared their savage reviews of the show, calling it everything from “needy” to “‘narcissistic”.

The anticipated second season of the show was released on Netflix this morning, which follows the widely-panned first season that premiered earlier this year, and sees Meghan share cooking, crafting, and hosting tips with a range of celebrity pals and experts.

In the second instalment, Meghan is joined by guests such as US model and T V personality Chrissy Teigen and Queer Eye star Tan France, as well as podcaster Jay Shetty and his cookbook author wife Radhi Devlukia. While chefs joining Meghan include Clare Smyth, who runs Core, a three-Michelin star restaurant in London, and Jose Andres, who set up the World Central Kitchen.

Despite the line-up of celebrity figures featuring on the show, critics have shared their scathing reviews of the second series, with The Telegraph giving the lifestyle a two-star rating, panning the season as “marginally less mad but more needy” than its first instalment.

The review went on to call Meghan a “Montecito Marie Antoinette”, and called the series as a whole “boring and at times, pretty insufferable”. The Telegraph’s Anita Singh added that Harry’s absence from the show – despite the programme being based on the couple’s Californian home life – was becoming “increasingly weird ”.

The sentiment was echoed by The Guardian , who dismissed the show as a “gormless lifestyle filler”. The publication also gave the second series a mere two stars, as the review went on to say how Meghan’s show is “so painfully contrived that it’s genuinely fascinating,” before questioning whether “Meghan’s impulse to sprinkle flowers over everything is a choice or a compulsion”.

Meghan Markle
With Love, Meghan received only two-star reviews from numerous publications.

The Times was equally cutting, branding the eight-part season “a series in search of a meaning, fronted by a woman in need of some cash”. The Times’ Hilary Rose added: “With Love, Meghan is baffling. It occupies the sweet spot where irrelevant meets intolerable. It’s like an advert for somewhere we’ll never go and aren’t invited. It’s an entry for Miss World, not a concept for ten hours of TV.”

The show’s general consensus appears to be that despite the presence of a large number of guests, Meghan comes across as unauthentic despite the breadth of the list.

While the second series of With Love, Meghan appeared to be unapologetically bad, some of the Duchess’ devoted followers online have had opposing opinions of the show, with one user writing on X: “It was such a joy and laughter. Every episode was wonderful.

Meghan’s support was praised by some as being “almost relatably girlie and endearing.” Such a lovely, unassuming, and completely unupbeat soul. Another fan remarked, “You can tell from the inside how much more confident and joyful Meghan is this season.

Meghan also defended her show in an appearance on The Circuit podcast with host Emily Chang when she was asked about the divisive reviews of season one of the show, and how the hate comments landed, as she said: “I think I know who I was trying to meet, so if you know your audience and you know your demographic, well they love the show, and my partners love the show and that’s why we have a season two.”

“So I frequently consider the voices that are saying bad things before secretly returning home and making my single skillet spaghetti,” she said. They might be. Therefore, my goal with the show was to reveal more of myself, offer advice that I value and have fun.

Freddy Brazier announces podcast with unseen pics of mum Jade as he tackles addiction

Freddy Brazier, the son of Jeff and Jade Goody, recently revealed that he has been a smoker’s dependent since he was 12 years old. He is now releasing a new podcast, Load of Old Cobblers.

Freddy Brazier is launching a new podcast after a dramatic year in the spotlight. The son of reality stars, Jade Goody and Jeff Brazier, 20, hit the headlines earlier this year after it was reported that his dad was seeking legal action against Freddy’s nan, Jackiey, who the model has been living with.

Freddy has also been dealing with addiction issues after admitting he’d been smoking since he was 12 after declaring he needed to go to rebab – before backtracking and saying a “retreat” would be better.

After a difficult year, Freddy has now revealed he’s starting a podcast, called Load of Old Cobblers, which he promoted on its Instagram page with unseen photos of Jade and her two sons before the Big Brother star tragically died, aged 29, from cervical cancer.

Freddy has the following name for the Instagram page, which has only one post so far: “Got bored so created a podcast! Bring the real with the rubbish. I’ll be discussing “mental health, life experiences, and a ton of pony”!

In a TikTok video released in March, Freddy revealed that he has ADHD and bipolar disorder. In response, Jeff reportedly filed a lawsuit against Jackiey because he was worried about her impact on his son.

Freddy said, “I’m Freddy Brazier,” when he shared a video of himself in his garden during Epilepsy Awareness Week. Some might refer to me as the harsh mother Jade Goody, or the Big Brother star. Or my father, a well-known TV presenter, who is unknown, couldn’t tell you.

“Just coming on to say that seizures, like any other illness, shouldn’t be made fun of or funny.” He then revealed that I have bipolar disorder and ADHD, and that I also have serious mental health. And it’s not nice when others criticize you or criticize you for it.

However, he then said he needed to take a “boy’s holiday” or “retreat” instead, which was a surprising U-turn.

His remarks came just as Bobby, Bobby’s older brother, announced that he would spend a year studying the Hare Krishna teachings.

Love Island star jailed after brutally battering man over Sainsbury’s car parking space

Troy Frith, a former Love Island contestant, admitted punching a man over a parking space at a supermarket, and he has been imprisoned for a year and two weeks.

A Love Island star has been put behind bars after he battered a man over a parking space. Troy Frith, who starred on the second series of the ITV2 dating show, targeted the victim outside a Sainabury’s in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

The man suffered series head injuries after being repeatedly punched so severely. After pleading guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent, Frith, 32, was imprisoned for a year and two weeks.

According to Woolwich Crown Court, he had grown agitated as a family removed a car seat. In front of horrified shoppers, Frith attacked the man despite having other parking spaces for cars available.

He left the scene on April 27 but was later apprehended and detained by police. Despite having other car parking spaces available, investigating officer PC Faye Gubby stated that Frith became impatient as a family waited to remove a child seat from the backseat of a car.

He expressed regret by questioning the victim’s welfare, but he still caused a man serious harm due to a relatively trivial issue.

The judge considered the assault’s unprovokedness when deciding the sentence. When he arrived on day 30 as a bombshell, Frith had previously appeared on the second season of the dating program.

In 2016, Firth and Tina Stinnes dated while on the show, and they later co-starred in Made in Chelsea. After seven days, Frith was removed from the island.

Olivia Buckland, his love interest, instead chose to work with Adam Jukes. Marnie Simpson, who had previously dated Frith, slammed him after he entered the villa.

She once said, “The most annoying thing in the world is probably to drop a name or anything similar just to get on a TV show,” or “to get into a relationship.”

Olivia and Alex Bowen, who finished runners-up, and Frith made the same series. They tied the knot in Essex on September 15, 2018, and got engaged in late 2016;

Abel (AJ), their first child, was born in June 2022, and Siena, their second child, was born this month. The couple continues to live happily married and have a family life.

Three years after Cara De La Hoyde and Nathan Massey tied the knot, the 2016 series’ winners are still together.

Romeo Beckham spitting image of dad David as he strips off for magazine shoot

Romeo Beckham, a football player and model, revealed that his famous father, David Beckham, was his inspiration when he stripped off for a fashion shoot and revealed his tatted chest.

Romeo Beckham enters the fashion industry in imitation of his famous father, David Beckham. As a popular player in the industry, the 22-year-old footballer stripped off to show off his tattooed torso.

Romeo has been keen to show how much his father has inspired him in the wake of his older brother Brooklyn’s ongoing family feud. He posed with a vintage Jean Paul Gaultier white fishnet jacket and Jeans by Burberry.

Romeo’s inked chest, which is not particularly similar to his football-icon father, was revealed in a single snap as he raised his jumper. Because he chooses to distance himself from the well-known family, it is said that Brooklyn is no longer the Beckhams’ neighbors.

‘This is the only celebrity perfume I’ve ever loved – it gets me so many compliments’

Although celebrity fragrances aren’t always to everyone’s taste, our beauty editor Laura Mulley says, “I’m so impressed with this new launch because it smells so luxurious.”

A new favourite(Image: Rare Beauty)

You might initially turn your back on celebrity perfumes if you’re a bit of a fan of fragrances, but for a long time I was. I’ve been considering this new A-lister’s release seriously, though.

Selena Gomez’s beauty brand Rare Beauty, which sells for £71 for a 50ml bottle, just launched its first perfume, Rare Eau De Parfum. It has quickly grown to be a new firm favorite for a number of reasons, not to mention the fact that it has become a particularly adored one.

Amy Dowden credits “amazing” serum for encouraging hair growth following chemotherapy.

First, the bottle. It has been so thoughtfully designed, and not only does it look great, it looks luxe and unobtrusive in muted pink and nude colors, and doesn’t look like a posh pot of face cream. To create an accessible bottle that is accessible to everyone, including those with motor disabilities, RARE Beauty collaborated with certified hand therapists.

This includes a large, wide atomizer that can even be pushed with your palm, a short, squat shape that won’t topple over, and a twist lock-unlock mechanism that eliminates fussy little lids. It’s incredibly simple and satisfying to spray, and a lot of mist is also dispersed with each pump, making it so much easier and satisfying for someone without any motor problems.

Of course, the smell is probably what matters most, and I was delighted to learn that it also wins. The exact notes are as follows:

  • Top: Pink Pepper, Pistachio, and Caramel.
  • Mid: Cocoa Beans, Ginger, and Vanilla
  • Sandalwood, Tonka Beans, and Skin Musks are dry.

Given Selena’s fan base, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that this is a gourmand fragrance, which is very popular these days. I agree with most celeb fragrances, and gourmands are. This is a true cosy cashmere jumper of a fragrance rather than sickly sweet and young.

It’s really simple to wear and doesn’t smell cloying, and my boyfriend only ever complimented it, which is unusual.

I do need to re-spritz my skin a few times throughout the day if there is one thing I can’t stand. It doesn’t last the longest on my skin. I keep it on my desk and am more than happy to reapply throughout the day because it really makes me a lot of joy every time I press down.

A gourmand like D. S. &amp, DURGA Deep Dark Vanilla, £155, or Kayali Vanilla 28 Eau de Parfum, £73, might be the choice for you if you’re looking for one that’s more likely to last on the skin. The light, airy PHLUR Vanilla Skin Body Mist, available for £25, is at the other end of the strength spectrum.
