Jade Thirlwall kicked off the 2025 Capital Summertime Ball at Wembley Stadium, making it her debut at the concert as a solo artist. However, it wasn’t Jade’s first time performing there, as she reminded fans during her set, and gave a sweet nod to her former band Little Mix, saying ‘I miss my girls’.

As the pop icon stood on the stage, she asked the audience, “I have done the Summertime Ball a few times before – do you know who with?”, before sending fans into a frenzy with a medley of Shout Out To My Ex and Sweet Melody by Little Mix.

Jade then took a moment to mention her former bandmates and sweetly mentioned how much she ‘misses’ them and is ‘proud’ of all they achieved together. Jade said: “I really do miss my Little Mix girls a lot and I am so proud of everything we achieved together, but I can’t lie Wembley, it does feel nice to do my own songs written about my own personal experiences. With that said, this song was my first single”.

The singer, who looked stunning in a red and white miniskirt with a matching jacket, then performed Angel of My Dreams, but not before thanking her fans first.

Jade said: “Before I leave, I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for backing me, supporting me as an artist, thank you Capital for having me here today, this is Angel of My Dreams”.

Last month, the singer took to Instagram to share the news with fans, posting: “THAT’S SHOWBIZ BABY! This career move comes after Jade has already spent a decade in the spotlight after rising to fame as part of Little Mix in 2011.

The band went on to become one of the UK’s most successful girl groups, clinching number one singles, Brit Awards, and touring internationally. After the band went on hiatus in May 2022, Jade kicked off her career as a solo artist.

Capital’s Summertime Ball red carpet as Jessie J and unexpected A-lister lead glam

Pop star Jessie J has returned to the red carpet following her breast cancer diagnosis as she’s set to take a break after performing at Capital FM’s Summertime Ball

The 2025 Capital FM’s Summertime Ball has kicked off in style as Jessie J returned to the red carpet following her breast cancer diagnosis. She is performing at the annual music event at London’s Wembley Stadium before “disappearing” to have surgery.

Jessie looked sensational as she rocked a mesh bodysuit and black mini dress while striking a pose on the red carpet. The likes of Mariah Carey, Benson Boone, KSI, Lola Young, Busted vs McFly, Zara Larsson, Dasha, Reneé Rapp and Jessie are all performing.

Hollywood star Will Smith has made an unexpected appearance at the event alongside DJ Jazzy Jeff, Tate McRae, Myles Smith and JADE, who are also performing at the huge event, which is expected to draw in a crowd of 80,000.

As the stars prepared for the bash and walked the red carpet, fans became concerned over whether it would go ahead. They were shown a statement from organisers on the large screens while inside the stadium.

It read: “We have had to pause the show temporarily. Please remain in the stadium. We hope to restart shortly. Thank you.” It hasn’t been confirmed but fans have said there was a power outage at the stadium.

Gavin and Stacey’s Laura Aikman was told to give up acting career due to mystery illness

Gavin and Stacey star Laura Aikman revealed she was advised to change her job after she was diagnosed with an illness that made her ‘very unwell’

Gavin and Stacey star told to give up acting career because of mystery illness

Gavin and Stacey star Laura Aikman revealed she was told to give up her acting career after she was struck down a mystery illness. The 39-year-old actress, known for playing Smithy’s partner Sonia in the popular sitcom, struggled with painful symptoms for many years before she learned she had ulcerative colitis.

Ulcerative colitis is a chronic autoimmune condition which causes inflammation and ulcers in the colon. Symptoms include recurring diarrhoea, stomach pain, needing to poo frequently as well as extreme fatigue and loss of appetite. In a recent interview, Laura revealed it took her a ‘long time’ before she was diagnosed and spent a long time ‘very, very unwell’.

She explained The Sun: “I’d been to the doctors a lot and they kept telling me that it was probably piles, without examining me, and giving me cream because I had blood in my stool. Nothing worked.

“And then I went to a homeopath and she asked me all of these questions about when I’d been poorly and she was like, ‘Listen, I’ve written out a timeline here of when you’ve not been working, and that is when you’ve been at your most unwell’.”

The actor was asked whether she would consider finding another career but insisted acting was her ‘entire personality’. The stress from not working between acting roles ended up worsening her illness.

Laura is now in a BBC gangster drama called This City is Ours. She also stars in Disney+’s Suspect: The Shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes as Lana Vandenberghe.

Last year, she reprised her role as Sonia in the Gavin and Stacey Christmas special. She was also in ITV’s Archie, Joan and The Rising.

The star previously discussed her role on This City Is Ours. The actress, whose surprise appearance as Smithy’s bride in the Christmas Day special shocked the nation, stars as Rachel Duffy in BBC One’s drugs drama This City Is Ours.

Filming on the big-budget series took place last year, at the same time as Laura was filming Gavin and Stacey. “It was the year of the bitch,” laughs Laura. “But they’re great to play.”

While pretentious Sonia was what Laura cheerfully called a “rotter”, Rachel is a much darker character, with ambitions to become a major player in Liverpool’s dark drugs scene.

It was a refreshing role for Laura, having spent much of her career playing romantic love interests. “One of the first things I fell in love with about Rachel was that she never tries to make other people feel comfortable,” explained Laura earlier this year. “We all have that tendency to laugh at a bad joke or fill silence but Rachel doesn’t give a s**t.

“She’s happy for everyone to get uncomfortable. She can be quite rude, she tells people what she thinks, she doesn’t like new people but she’s really smart, she’s determined and she’s ambitious.”

Jessie J looked sensational as she made a return to the red carpet for Capital’s Summertime Ball. The pop star, 37, decided to share her cancer diagnosis earlier this month and spoke of her plans to have surgery after her performance tonight.

She revealed she has been diagnosed with “early breast cancer” and that she has spent a lot of her recent time “in and out of tests”. Jessie made a stunning entrance on the red carpet this evening as she stepped out in a mesh bodysuit paired with black mini dress.

The Pricetag hitmaker added a pair of chunky black heels as well as a silver broach on her chest of a hand pinching part of her dress. Jessie added a smokey eye paired with a nude lipstick and had her dark locks slicked back into a bun.

She beamed as she posed for photos ahead of taking to the stage later. Speaking just last week, the mum-of-one told her fans: “I was diagnosed with early breast cancer.”

“Cancer sucks in any form, but I’m holding on to the word ‘early’. It’s a very dramatic way to get a boob job. I am going to disappear for a bit after Summertime Ball to have my surgery, and I will come back with massive t**s and more music,” Jessie, whose full name is Jessica Cornish, shared.

After making the announcement, the much-loved singer shared a video on Instagram from her performance at London’s Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, explaining that she was in a lot of discomfort but she didn’t want to cancel the show and let her fans down.

In the video, Jessie admitted: “I had 5 breast biopsies the night before this show. I was in some discomfort but so hyped to do it and I didn’t want to cancel.

“The more I watch this show back I can see my brain working in complete overdrive trying not to blurt it all out. Laughing and making jokes in hard times [handshake emoji] me. And I am in-fact under your bed.”

Nearing the end of her set, the singer said that she was in a lot of pain, but that she wasn’t going to let it get in the way of doing what she loves most. She joked: “I don’t know why I’m w**king off the mic. Okay, it’s time for me to end this set because I’m getting too wild.”

Jessie revealed she wanted to share her diagnosis with the public to help her process the news, and to show solidarity with others who are going through a similar experience. “I just wanted to be open and share it, ” she expressed.

“One, because, selfishly, I do not talk about it enough. I’m not processing it because I’m working so hard. I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support and also their own stories.

“I’m an open book. It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much similar and worse-that’s the bit that kills me.” She continued: “The timing of it has been mad but also beautiful and given me this incredible perspective in this time.

“But honestly I need to process it and talk about it and, I need a hug. You have loved me through all my good and hard times. And I don’t want this to be any different,” she concluded.

Love Island villa erupts as Islander left ‘raging’ over ‘disrespect’ as row breaks out

The Love Island villa erupts tonight after the girls get to watch the boys unknowingly talk about them and date three new bombshells, with Helena stating she is ‘raging about the disrespect’

Love Island series 12 has already surprised islanders and viewers with twists and turns, including already dumping two islanders, but the villa is about to explode in a new teaser for the upcoming episode. After seeing three new bombshells enter the ‘boys night out’, the girls are fuming and it could be the last bump in the road for some couples.

The boys left the villa earlier in the day for drinks, but what they didn’t know was that the girls would be watching their every move on a giant TV back in the main villa. Shortly after they all established where they stood in their relationship, three new bombshells entered and caused a stir for the girls watching.

The three bombshells include 24-year-old teaching assistant Malisha from Broxbourne, Commercial Banking Executive Yasmin, 24, and Insurance Development Executive Emily, 24, from Aberdeen.

After the girls watched the other half of their couple flirt with the new bombshells, Helena was not best pleased and said: “My man basically saying I’m a massive red flag because of something I’ve done in the past and I’m a big party girl…?” Alima responds: “Double standards”. Helena continues and says, “I’m raging about the disrespect.”

But they don’t have long to debrief about the boys as suddenly their one-on-one dates start playing on the big screen and they rush back to secretly listen in to more chats.

Opening up to the new bombshell on what he is looking for, Harry said: “The main thing is ambition; someone that wants a family, I’m 30 and ready for it, I’ve got my s*** together.” Discussing Shakira, Harry adds: “Potentially there’s unfinished business, I think she knows that as well, it’s just not the right time. She has pride, she’s only 22, but she’s ahead of her years and has a lot of self-respect.”

Yasmin eagerly asks Harry, “Are you open to getting to know other people, or do you like what you’ve got with Helena?

The islanders then get a sneak peek into Conor’s date with bombshell Emily. Conor tells Emily: “Whatever I do, I wanna be respectful, I’m definitely going to get to know you…” Unknowing to Conor, this comment goes down well with the girls watching, with the other half of his couple, Toni, labelling him “My respectful king.”

Later, the boys and bombshells return to the Villa and spot the huge screen and quickly realise what’s been happening. The boys aren’t happy, to say the least, about the girls being a fly on the wall during their chats, as Dejon says, “boys chat stays in the boys chat!”

But it is too late for that as Helena has some beef with Harry about what he said during the boys chat, and Meg tells Dejon exactly how she’s feeling about watching his date, telling him: “You failed the test.”

Harry and Helena head to the terrace and she tells him: “I dunno where we go from here…I don’t know how we can move forward…” Meanwhile, Conor chats to Emily in the snug, as he tells her: “The vibe I’ve got, we’re on the same wavelength, everything you said – I want someone to look after me and listen to me – I feel like that’s me”.

*Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.

Fans were quick to point out a surprising detail in Cristiano Ronaldo’s new post as he posted a Father’s Day picture of him and his son showing off their toned physiques

Cristiano Ronaldo posed alongside his son, showing off his impressively toned body as a tribute to Father’s Day. And while at first glance many of his social media followers were enamoured by his amazing physique, other eagle-eyed fans noticed that he had painted his toenail black.

The Father’s Day post showed the iconic footballer dressed in nothing but a pair of red shorts as he flexed his muscles alongside his son.

He captioned the X post with a message in Portuguese that read: “Like Father, like son.”

However, it was soon noticed that his toenails were panted black, which created a huge discussion thread. Posting a picture of his feet one person wrote: “Why is he painting his toenails?” Another person said: “Painted your toe nails goat??” And a third person added: “Tf is this @cristiano?”

Explaining the reason behind his choice of painting his nails black, one follower on the social media platform said: “Cristiano Ronaldo paints his toenails, particularly with black polish, for practical, health-related reasons, not for fashion.”

They added: “The practice is inspired by combat sports athletes like MMA fighters who use it to protect their nails from cracking, splitting, or fungal infections.”

Last month, Cristiano praised his son Ronaldo Jnr after the 14 year old made his international debut playing for the under 15s in Croatia.

Taking to social media, the legendary footballer, who has played for a string of high profile clubs including Manchester United, wrote: “Congratulations on your debut by @selecaoportugal, son. Very proud of you!”

Following three series of the reality TV show which gave fans an insight into her luxurious life, model Georgina Rodriguez had earned an estimated eye-watering sum of £22million.

Speaking to Vogue Arabia confirming the cancellation of her show, she said: “The reality show has been one of the most important professional experiences and the one that has made me the most excited. It has been a lot of work and requires so much effort.”

She added: “I think that it has given me the opportunity to show the real ‘me’ to the world. “

She went on to say: “It has been the most important and large-scale project that I have done so far. However, at the moment, I do not plan to continue with the reality show.”
