Linda Nolan’s last wish behind family’s poignant funeral invitation to fans

Linda Nolan’s final farewell will be a send off befitting the showbiz legend, her family have promised.

With one final round of applause from her fans, the fun-loving actress wanted to leave like she lived, big, bold, and unhinged. In what will be Linda’s final public appearance, her siblings have now invited well-wishers to congregate outside the church to wave her off after her funeral on Saturday.

Everyone is invited to join them in celebrating Linda Nolan’s extraordinary life, according to a Nolan family spokesman. Every person she met, in addition to the millions who she had met, was inspired by her with her unwavering love, strength, and light.

Although her absence causes ache in our hearts, the joy, hope, and kindness she freely shared will carry on. Everyone who knew Linda, or whose lives she touched, is invited to join us to pay her respects as we remember her remarkable life.

“The family welcomes all fans and members of the general public who wish to visit designated areas outside the church.”

St. Paul’s Church in Blackpool (David Hill) will host the funeral.

Just one month shy of her 66th birthday, the Daily Mirror columnist tragically passed away from double pneumonia on January 15, 20 years after receiving a cancer diagnosis.

She had previously told the Mirror how she wanted a “pink, sparkly coffin” – a wish the family have granted, with sister Coleen, 59, telling us on Saturday: “The one thing my sister loved was bling – her trainers had bling on them, her handbags, her walking stick [..] so it feels right”.

Now Coleen and the Nolan siblings, Anne, 74, Denise, 72, Maureen, 70, Tommy, 75, and Brian, 69, are determined to make the rest of Linda’s last hurrah as vibrant and as full of life as she was – and are calling on the fans to help.

This Saturday, the Dublin-born Nolan sisters’ “spiritual home” in Blackpool, where they first gained notoriety and lived their entire lives, will be laid to rest.

The day will start at 10 a.m. with a service at St. Paul’s Church, the same church where Linda and her husband Brian, who passed away in 2007, were both married and attended the same church.

The family is then anticipating that Linda’s siblings will receive one last standing ovation as they leave for a private service at a nearby crematorium. After leaving her home in Blackpool for the past 18 years, Linda will be buried with Brian’s remains.

“St. Paul’s Church holds a deeply special place in Linda’s heart”, explains her manager and longtime friend Dermot McNamara. “It is where she married the love of her life, Brian Hudson, with whom she shared 26 wonderful years of marriage. Brian was Linda’s rock, her soulmate, and the love of her life, just as she was his.

Linda found the courage to continue after Brian tragically passed away in 2007. Linda also said her final farewell to Brian at St. Paul’s, where they had exchanged their vows, in the same church where they both had sung their last songs. In order to be reunited with Brian once more, Linda will now be at peace and embraced once more in this sacred location.

It’s a poignant symmetry. But for those fans who can’t make it to Blackpool, the family have also set up a memorial page, linda-nolan. muchloved.com, where people can leave messages of support and share their stories of the so-called” Naughty Nolan”.

Supporters can also use the page to donate to Trinity Hospice, Blackpool, in Linda’s honour. Given Linda’s dedication to helping others, which she helped raise more than £20 million for mental health and breast cancer charities during her lifetime, is fitting.

In a statement given to the Mirror, the family said:” In honour of Linda’s compassionate and giving spirit, the family wishes to raise as much money as possible for Trinity Hospice, a charity that held a special place in Linda’s heart.

“During her own battle, Trinity Hospice provided exceptional care to her sister Bernie as well as to Linda in her final days.” Their team treated Linda and Bernie with unparalleled kindness, dignity and respect, for which the family will always be profoundly grateful”.

Prior to being diagnosed with secondary breast cancer in her hip in 2017, Linda was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 and spent a short time without it. It spread to her liver in 2020, and by 2023, it had spread to her brain.

She passed away in 2013 at the age of 52 from secondary breast cancer in her sister Bernie. Hundreds turned out to line the Blackpool streets for Bernie’s funeral – all wanting to celebrate The Nolans, who sold 30 million records, including Spirit, Body and Soul, Attention To Me and the iconic I’m In The Mood For Dancing.

Blackpool Tower lit up in pink in honour of Linda Nolan
After Linda passed away on January 15 (Dave Nelson), the Pink Blackpool Tower was lit up in her honor.

After a distinguished career on television and the West End and the support she provided for others who were diagnosed with cancer, Linda’s family is hopeful that she will experience the same outpouring of love.

The former Big Brother star was known for her upbeat and down-to-earth approach to dealing with her diagnosis, and she continued to be so in her final Mirror column.

She described her joy at overcoming what she thought was “a bout of flu” as “a whole new world out there,” just six days before her passing. Every morning when I wake up, I think “this is another day to celebrate.”

Blackpool Tower was made pink in her honor after learning of her passing, while the pier’s billboard-sized tribute remembered Maggie May, who she played for 10 years. The memories of travelers from as far away as Japan, the US, South Africa, and Australia have also been shared.

Hugh Jackman’s ex wife Deborra-Lee Furness makes huge decision after ‘messy’ split

Deborra-Lee Furness is reportedly contemplating a return to her native Australia following her split from ex-husband, Hugh Jackman.

The Greatest Showman actor and the Australian producer, 69, had been married for 27 years before their shocking split in 2023. Deborra has reportedly kept her ex-husband company ever since. Meanwhile, Wolverine star Hugh, 56, has recently went public with his new girlfriend, American actress Sutton Foster.

The X-Men star recently confirmed he is dating his former Broadway co-star, Foster, 46, amidst growing speculation about when their romance began. According to insiders, the breakup between the Aussie stars could turn out to be “messy” as they divide their estimated $250 million fortune.

Deborra appeared “confident, poised, and warm” when she was most recently seen greeting guests at the Australian Open and making hints about a more long-term stay in her hometown. During an interview at the Open, she said: “Melbourne will always feel like home. I’ve had a few offers for films back here, so I’m still reading some scripts, so if there’s something that’s great”.

The Shame actress mentioned that she might be traveling soon despite revealing that she has some work scheduled in New York, where she and her ex-boyfriend reside. She added: “I’ve got some projects in New York. I’m in my chapter three. I’m a creative, I love being creative in a variety of areas and I think I’ll be doing more travelling”.

When the actress and producer revealed that her kids adore Australia, she also gave a second hint. Her daughter Ava, 19, is currently taking a gap year, while their son Oscar, 24, is an artist based in Brooklyn who also teaches two days a week.

She said, “We spend one Christmas in New York and one here.” I feel like I’ve been here forever. I love coming back, I grew up here. Every time I go out, Ava says, ‘ Is there anyone you don’t know in Melbourne? They love the simplicity, the food, the culture, they have family and friends here. There’s no place like home, as Dorothy said”.

Hugh’s Australian friends are reportedly “disgusted” with the Australian actor because of his split from his wife and publicizing his new romance.

Sources told Radar: “Hugh’s friends in Australia are close to Debs too, and they’re siding with her in all of this. Even though Hugh hasn’t gone public with Sutton, it’s an open secret that they’re madly in love. Debs feels like she was let down for the younger model, which is unfortunate.

Deborra-Lee is reportedly relieved after seeing the romantic photos of the new couple together, but she also claims to be “blinded” by the news of Hugh’s new relationship. They are also reportedly now ready to move on with their romance after their breakup more than a year and a half ago.

According to Mail Online, Hugh and his new partner Sutton reportedly made the decision to finally declare their romance because they no longer want to “hide their love.”

The Mirror has approached Deborra-Lee’s representatives for comment on this story.

West End star blinded in random horror attack as thug smashes through car window

After a horrifying attack while waiting at traffic lights, a West End star was left blind in one eye.

After a thug smashed a metal object through his van window in East London, Mike Holoway, 63, needed stitches for his right eye ball. In an effort to save his eye sight, Mike has needed three more operations over the course of a nine-month period as a result of the incident.

Mike, who spent four years as the lead in Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat, believes that his attack was an attempted robbery.

Mike called the weeks that followed a “roller coaster” after the attack took place on December 18. He explained how his eye is stable on Instagram, but he claimed that he still has “many months to heal.”

Speaking to the Sun, Mike described the ordeal, saying a man “smashed his first through the driver’s side window”. He claimed that his face was struck directly in the face and that the passenger seat was knocked across.

“I had to have metallic fragments pulled out of my face”, he said. “You think you know how you can react in these situations. But I saw stars. I didn’t know what the hell was going on”.

The attacker targeted Mike in his car while he was reportedly holding a knuckle-duster or other small-weighted metal object. The attacker, who was then driven off in his own van, is claimed by a GoFundMe page set up by Mike’s wife, which claims the traffic started again spooking him.

She wrote, “Mike’s life was turned upside down in a matter of seconds, and over the past month, between several trips to Moorfields for appointments and checkups, the gravity of the situation has started to sink in and sometimes it is overwhelming. It is deeply unfair that justice won’t be served,” she continued.

Mike praised his “angel of the day”, a witness called Bobby, who made sure he got to hospital following the incident. Due to a number of scans and tests, Mike was forced to spend more than seven hours in A&amp, E. It’s unknown how much of his vision will eventually return after being moved to an eye hospital for surgery.

“I’ve got to have a lens replacement. I’ve got to get a cornea donor. I’ve got to have a cornea replacement”, he explained. “My eye is currently being anchored by six stitches. I’m on painkillers all day, every day for the first five weeks of it happening. It’s a bit of a blur. My wife Emma has been incredible”.

Despite the ordeal, he managed to enjoy his birthday over the weekend and still appeared happy. His eye was severely bandaged, and he was standing next to birthday balloons. On his GoFundMe page, he also provided an update to thank users who had contributed and supported him. He continued, “Things are improving well for me,” in the Instagram upload.

After thanking the Moorfields Eye Hospital once again, he continued to tell his supporters: “Thank you, I love you all”.

The mum-of-five, who has always been open about her love and devotion to her kids, added that she’s worked hard to provide them with everything they’ve needed. Now, though, she’s keen for Heidi to take charge of her life and start standing on her own two feet.

The milestone significantly brings the family together. Kerry revealed that her eldest daughter, Lilly, recently made a surprise trip from Ireland to visit her. “Last week, Lilly surprised me by visiting from Ireland, which was amazing! I cried my eyes out, I really wasn’t expecting it”, she said.

As Heidi’s 18th approaches, it’s clear that Kerry’s priority is helping her daughter prepare for the future. In more ways than one way, Heidi might be emulating her mother’s example. Scott Mills kicks off BBC Radio 2 breakfast show with huge song and bold promise

Scott Mills made a bold promise to his breakfast program’s viewers as soon as his first official day was over.

Scott made his debut on the radio at 6:30 am, replacing Zoe Ball with him forever, and he added that he had a awkward decision when choosing his first song. He began: “Here we go then, Monday, January 27, 2025, and this is the Scott Mills Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2. I can’t believe I’m finally saying those words. If I’m honest, I’ve been a radio fan my entire life and a presenter.

For a young person who wanted to be on the radio but wasn’t sure he had the self-assurance to do it, “If I think too much about the previous occupiers of this show, it becomes mind blowing.” The aim here is to make you smile, to bring up your mood. To encourage shoulder and head dancing in bed, in the shower, in the car, in the kitchen, and to lift your spirits when it might not feel so good in the morning.

Zoe Ball (PA) has been replaced by Scott.

And I want you to reach out and participate in this show at any time, wherever you like. You will be the star of this show because of your voice, your life, and your stories, I sincerely hope you will enjoy it every day. That’s my aim. I want you to be listening every morning, and this is going to be your go-to source for information on how to be inspired, entertained, entertained, or inspired by an artist you love, or to hear a piece of music that means a lot to you.

Scott continued, stating that he had been working for the BBC for 25 years and that he would give it “absolutely everything” on the program.

Then he admitted that his first song was nearly unveiled during an appearance on The One Show last week and that many people had been trying to guess it. Everyone’s been trying to guess what our first song will be, “he said”. And as they]The One Show] introduced me, I don’t know if you saw it on Friday night. They played this in the background, and I was like, great. I simply had to smile, wave to the camera, and pretend that they hadn’t noticed that this was my first song. It is Robbie Williams, of course. “

To start off the show off a high note, Scott faded into Robbie’s most recent classic Rock DJ song. Zoe left her position on the show six years ago, and he has a new role. She delivered a moving speech to listeners and coworkers on her final day of December.

Alan Carr reveals worrying health scare as he undergoes terrifying procedure

Loved TV comedian Alan Carr has described his harrowing “health scare” and fears that he is losing his sight.

The 48-year-old comedian claimed a “spike” was stuck into his eyeball while describing how he had to have his eyeballs drained at a specialist eye hospital.

The bespectacled stand-up comic and TV host said the experience was “surreal” and left him “so worried”.

Speaking on his own podcast, Life’s a Beach, Carr told guest and fellow comic Grace Campbell: “I’ve got astigmatism – I kept telling people I had stigmata, like the wounds of Christ. Get over yourself, Alan.

“I had a bit of a health scare. I went to Moorfields [Eye Hospital, London]. I’ve got something wrong with my eyes – quite a bit of pressure. When they squirt the air into your eyes, I detest the glaucoma. My cornea was damaged by something. I was so worried. “

Following the Royal Variety Performance in November of last year (PA), King Charles III attends a meeting with Alan Carr and Amanda Holden.

He continued, “He had to basically choke me because this air entered my eye too quickly.” My eyeball was anesthetized at Moorfields, and the spike inserted onto the lens to check if it worked.

“They said: ‘Just relax Alan, and just concentrate on the spike going into your eye. ‘ I’m like excuse me? What? Oh good, the spike is coming closer. Relax! It was so surreal. My worst fear is losing my sight, and I can already feel it getting worse.

“My eyeballs need draining – they’ve got too much pressure. “

In November last year, Carr described the news that one of his TV shows has been renewed for two more series as “utterly mind-blowing” and added that it’s a “huge compliment”.

The sitcom Changing Ends, which Alan calls a “semi-autobiographical comedy,” was released on ITVX last year. A second series was released earlier in 2024 and the first series later aired on ITV.

The popular television program had been recommissioned for a third and fourth series, it was announced. They will have six episodes, according to the broadcaster, and will be back-to-back episodes. However, the release dates for the two upcoming series have not yet been announced.

Changing Ends is “based on” Alan’s own life in Northampton during the 1980s. The presenter, who writes for the program and appears in it as “himself,” was born Graham Carr, a former fourth division football manager, whose successful career included managing Northampton Town F. C. .

Oliver Savell and Taylor Fay (Gary Carr) join Oliver Savell in the cast as young Alan, along with co-stars Shaun Dooley, Nancy Sullivan, and Gary Carr. It features Rourke Mooney, Harry Peacock, and Gambby Best.

In a Changing Ends (ITV) promo photo, Alan Carr and Oliver Savell pose.

In a statement, Alan explained that getting your own sitcom recommissioned for a series was the most wonderful news ever, but getting TWO series recommissioned is utterly mind-blowing and a huge compliment. “

For someone whose actual life occasionally feels like a sitcom, believe me, there are more stories from my childhood to be told, and I know how much this show has resonated with the viewers. Two series were commissioned, eh? Two more steps closer to becoming reality, in my opinion, is that Changing Ends will become Northampton’s version of the Crown. “
