  • Rob and Michele Reiner’s son, Nick, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder. The 32-year-old was arrested on Sunday at 21:15 local time in Los Angeles and officially booked the following morning. He is accused of murdering his parents, who were found dead at their home in the Brentwood area. Both Rob and Michele had their throats slit.
  • He has been remanded in custody since his arrest. On Tuesday, Nick was officially charged but was not given medical clearance to appear in court. He’s expected to make his first in-person appearance later today. But reports claim that he is now under the “supervision of the jail mental evaluation team” at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Downtown Los Angeles.
  • On Tuesday, Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman announced that Nick had been formally charged. He said: “I’m here to announce that our office will be filing charges against Nick Reiner accused of killing his parents. These charges will be two counts of first-degree murder with a special circumstance of multiple murders. He also faces a special allegation that he personally used a dangerous and deadly weapon, that being a knife.”
  • The charges carry a maximum sentence of life in prison. Along with the two counts of first-degree murder, prosecutors added special circumstances of multiple murders and a special allegation that the defendant used a dangerous weapon, a knife. The additions could mean a greater sentence.
  • However, no decision has yet been made in respect of the death penalty. In the past year, there have been 46 executions in the United States, with a further two planned for this year. President Donald Trump has been vocal about his support for the death penalty. But, no prisoners in California have been executed since Clarence Ray Allen was given the lethal injection on January 17, 2006. Nathan Hochman explained that he would be willing to allow prosecutors to seek capital punishment. He did, however, say that these would be “exceedingly rare cases”.
  • Nick is believed to have checked into the Pierside Santa Monica at around 4am after leaving a party, where he had argued with his father. Staff discovered that the shower was “full of blood” and there was a trail leading from his bed, with bedsheets also covering the windows. Nick and Michele’s dead bodies were discovered less than 11 hours later by their daughter, Romy, at 3:30pm on Sunday. He did not resist when he was arrested hours later in the Exposition Park area near the University of Southern California, about 14 miles (22.5 kilometres) from the crime scene, police said.

Gabby Logan couldn’t resist making the cheeky remark about Anton Du Beke as she and her husband, Kenny Logan, reflected on their time on Strictly Come Dancing

Gabby Logan has playfully taken aim at former Strictly Come Dancing professional, turned judge, Anton Du Beke. The BBC presenter appeared on the programme with her dance partner James Jordan back in 2007.

Simultaneously, Gabby’s husband Kenny Logan also participated in the competition alongside James’ wife and fellow professional dancer, Ola Jordan.

During a recent podcast appearance together, the pair were questioned about their Strictly experience and Gabby couldn’t help but make a cheeky dig at Anton.

Throughout his 16-year stint as a competitor, the 59-year-old had limited success with his celebrity partners – something he frequently jokes about himself.

Appearing on the Stick to Rugby podcast, the married duo were asked about programmes they had both featured on, including Strictly and the game show Mr and Mrs.

When questioned about who performed better on the dancing show, Kenny swiftly responded: “Look at the history books.”

Gabby, 52, became the fourth celebrity eliminated from the series, while Kenny secured fifth place.

Looking back on their appearance, the presenter remarked: “Kenny went on a journey,” to which he playfully interjected: “‘I got voted out after week two’, that was her journey.”

In response, Gabby quipped: “Put it this way, if he could’ve danced with Anton Du Beke he would’ve been that person.”

Fighting back, Kenny jested: “Stick to what you’re good at sweetheart.”

In her memoir The First Half, published in 2022, the presenter admitted she was reduced to tears when the judges decided to save Rod Stewart’s wife, Penny Lancaster, instead of her.

Speaking about her feelings to The Times, she revealed: “It was a harsh lesson, learning that sometimes not everyone likes you. You realise the parts of your personality that you thought were attributes as a sportswoman are not valued.

“I was told I was being too competitive, whereas I was thinking, ‘I thought that was good. That’s what I did in sport – and it worked – and that’s what my husband is doing’.

“I actually reckon there was a societal shift between that show in 2007 and 2012. At the 2012 Olympics we started to appreciate tough, competitive women.

“We made heroes of them. But in 2007 I wasn’t playing the game expected of a woman.”

During 2023, Anton appeared alongside Gabby on her The Mid.Point podcast. Throughout the episode, they reflected on their Strictly experiences and the so-called show curse.

The phrase “curse” is commonly referenced when describing celebrity or professional relationships that have crumbled during or immediately following their stint on the programme.

Gabby admitted that, for her part, she found it “weird” to be so up-close to another male who wasn’t Kenny, though didn’t believe the “curse” existed.

“I think if you go on Strictly and you want romance, you might find some,” she shared.

“If you go on Strictly and you’re in a good relationship and you don’t want romance, you’re not going to get any. There’s no curse.

Dawn O’Porter has revealed the cheeky tattoo she got for her husband, Chris O’Dowd, after he told her he loved her for the first time.

The Celebrity MasterChef star, 46, tied the knot with Hollywood actor, Chris, also 46, in 2012 in a three-day wedding fest after he told the TV presenter she was the one for him in a kebab shop called Munchies.

Paying tribute to the milestone moment, Dawn had the name of the fast food joint tattooed on her bottom – which proudly displays the word ‘Munchies’ to this day. She revealed the sweet tribute – which she got a week before her wedding – as she whipped up a kebab, complete with marinated chicken, pineapple, bread, and garlic sauce on Tuesday night’s episode of Celebrity MasterChef.

While making her “happy food”, the star – who has reached the final three stage of the BBC cooking show – told hosts John Torode, 60, and 52-year-old Grace Dent: “Delicious food is delicious food. I’m dedicating this to my husband Chris, who first told me he loved me in a kebab shop.

“We sat in there and ate this kebab and drank champagne out of a blue plastic bag, and it obviously changed my life.

“For Chris’ wedding present, I got a tattoo of the name Munchies on my bottom because that was the name of the shop. So I got it done a week before the wedding, and I had to hide it the whole week.”

John and Grace were stunned by the revelation from Dawn – who decided against taking Chris’ full Irish surname, and instead got an ‘O’ before her maiden name. Dawn also got a small ‘O’ inked onto her right hand as a tribute to the letter in the Bridesmaids star’s surname.

After her kebab was cooked, John complimented Dawn on the “fantastic” meat and “fluffy” bread, and Grace declared it “fabulous”. Following the hosts’ feedback, Dawn said: “I think Chris will have loved all that. I think he’ll feel very well represented and loved.”

The Scottish star, who shares two kids with Chris, has now bagged a place in the final after singer, Alfie Boe, left on Tuesday. Alfie was eliminated from the show – meaning either Dawn, retired rugby player Alun Wyn Jones, 40, or RuPaul’s Drag Race UK series 5 winner Ginger Johnson, 37, will be crowned this series’ winner.

After his exit was confirmed, Alfie said: “This has been quite precious. These moments in life that come about are really special. I’m happy to be going home as a Celebrity MasterChef finalist.”

The tenor left the show after underwhelming the judges with his “eggy” Belgian Le Miserable cake – which boasted ginger and cinnamon poached apricots – which was a tribute to his dad, Alfred, who died in 1997.
