Matty Healy breaks silence after claims new The 1975 music is about Taylor Swift romance

Matty Healy has broken his silence after claims The 1975’s album was inspired by Taylor Swift.

The rocker and Taylor briefly dated in 2023, with her own latest release, The Tortured Poets Department, said to have been an insight into their relationship. Currently, Matty and his The 1975 bandmates, George Daniel, Ross MacDonald and Adam Hann are working on their sixth studio album and it’s believed that their lead single from the record could be a reference to Matty and Taylor’s relationship.

God Has Entered My Body which is believed to be the title track has seen Matty and the Cheshire-based band work with some of the biggest producers in the industry. But after hearing Taylor’s take on their romance on her album, Matty is believed to have taken inspiration and put his own feelings into the music.

A lyric on the track is believed to be “Keep your head up princess, your tiara is falling,” this is also what he used to caption an Instagram post in 2021. It’s claimed that those in the studio at the time instantly believed that this was a reference to Matty and Taylor being an item, albeit for a brief period of time. A source claimed that while he won’t publicly comment on past relationships, he has a lot to get off his chest.

Speaking to The Sun, the source said: “Matty will never publicly comment on his relationships, but he lets his deepest feelings out in his songs and gets everything off his chest. Fans will want to listen to the lyrics very carefully. With the band set to headline Glastonbury, a new album dropping in the summer makes perfect sense for them, so they can capitalise on the performance and have some new material. “

Meanwhile, over on Reddit, he told fans that the news was “huge if true. ” Last year, Matty briefly alluded to his previously relationship with the chart-mauling pop princess. He said: “Last year, I became a way more well-known public figure for loads of different reasons. The only reason that I was interested in is kind of, like, what I was doing? “

During an appearance on the Doomscroll podcast, he added: “I think that a lot of artists become very interested in their lore, or they become interested in the things that have happened outside of their art that people know about, and they want to address that [in their music. ]” But Matty admitted that their first record was filled with a series of journal entries, including his heartbreak.

He went on to add: “I used to write about relationships a lot more and stuff like that. But honestly I would kind of just be lying if I made a record about, I don’t know, all the stuff that was said about me or my casual romantic liaisons or whatever it may be, that I’ve kind of become known for just because I was famous. “

Last year, Taylor appeared to take aim at the rockstar in her track, The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived, on her 11th album, leaving Matty completely blindsided. A source told US Weekly: “He loves the attention it’s brought to him, [but] he also thinks it’s hilarious because at no time [were they] ever serious. “

Jamie Theakston ‘thrown off motorbike’ on first day back at Heart FM after cancer battle

Radio presenter Jamie Theakston revealed he was thrown off his motorcycle on his way to work as he returned to Heart Breakfast this morning.

The 54-year-old announced on Friday that he would be returning to his day job after being declared ‘cancer free. ‘ Jamie announced in September he was taking a break from the show after being diagnosed with laryngeal cancer.

On Monday, as he returned to the airwaves alongside co-host Amanda Holden, Jamie revealed he’d had an accident on the way to work.

“If Mr Bean had his first day back at work after four months, this is probably how it might have gone,” he said.

Theakston said he had put an extra lock on the vehicle, that he had forgotten about, which “threw” him “off the bike”.

He added that a number of other people who ride motorcycles had travelled in with him, saying: “Thanks to everyone for making this morning feel very, very special. Thanks for your (the listeners’) messages as well. “

During the programme, audio clips were played of Theakston’s colleagues, friends and family talking about his cancer diagnosis.

His wife, Sophie Siegle, said: “Hello, darling. It’s me, Sophie. When we found out you had cancer, it was wow, such a dark time”.

His son, Sidney, added: “Well done for getting through these past few months. “

After the audio played, Holden said: “What an amazing man you are. You really fought very hard, Jamie, you’ve kept your sense of humour, which is the most important thing, I think. “

“And isn’t it wonderful? It’s a terrible thing to go through, but it’s a wonderful thing to see how many people love you. “

Also on the programme, Theakston encouraged listeners to check themselves and said: “Ignoring cancer won’t beat it. “

“Cancer loves being ignored. It’s a coward that lives in the shadows, and I think that, if we can shine a light on that, then we can defeat the darkness. “

“If we just get ourselves checked, then stage one diagnosis, which is what I was very fortunate enough to be at, shouldn’t be a problem, but I do, I urge you to go and get checked. “

According to the NHS, laryngeal cancer affects the larynx and symptoms include pain when swallowing, a lump or swelling in the neck and a persistent sore throat.

Theakston has presented music show The O-Zone, children’s show Live & Kicking alongside Zoe Ball, and Top Of The Pops on the BBC.

Heart Breakfast With Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden airs on weekdays from 6. 30am to 10am across the UK and on Global Player.

Anton Du Beke confesses he ‘doesn’t recognise half the celebrities on Strictly Come Dancing’

Strictly Come Dancing’s dancer-turned-judge Anton Du Beke has confessed that he had no idea who Love Island’s Tasha Ghouri or vlogger Joe Sugg were when they first waltzed onto the Strictly dancefloor. As a professional dancer on the BBC show, Anton preformed with the likes of soprano Lesley Garrett, TV’s Kate Garraway and EastEnders star Emma Barton, but after swapping for a seat on the judge’s panel, he says he now doesn’t “know half the people who come on”.

Anton, 58, has been part of the show since it first aired in 2004, but failed to lift the glitterball in any of those 18 series, despite reaching the final twice. In a new interview, he reflected on how the celebrity line-up has changed over the years, revealing: “I don’t know half the people who come on Strictly Come Dancing. But they all turn out to be marvellous. For example, I didn’t know of Tasha Ghouri, but she was extraordinarily fabulous. I had no idea who Joe Sugg was either. In the old days of Strictly, we used to know everybody. “

Speaking to The Times, the dad of two said he could understand the natural evolution of the celebrity dancers, as the show needs to reflect the audience watching at home. “Strictly is not Love Island,” he added.

“There’s no point seeing gorgeous 25-year-olds dancing fabulously. We want the celebrity partners to reflect the people who watch the show. “

Liverpool-born comedian Chris McCausland, 47, is the current custodian of the show’s glitterball, after winning the 2024 series with pro dancer Dianne Buswell. He was the series’ first blind celebrity contestant, and he said afterwards that his win was not just “tokenism”.

“What we need more of when it comes to inclusivity is [to] show what guys like myself and many, many other disabled people have been doing – incredible stuff for years,” he said.

“Really shine a light on that in these entertainment shows, just on ordinary people, it doesn’t have to be a celebrity. I think there’s a hunger for it nowadays to be quite honest. “

In his latest interview, Anton, who lives in lives in Buckinghamshire with his wife Hannah Summers, said the Strictly team were conscious of producing something great after the bullying scandal last year, which saw Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima both leave the show.

He described the latest series as “best it’s ever been”, adding: “With all that went on in the summer, you think, “We’ve been going a long time now. Let’s have a look at ourselves and see what’s going on, and see if we need to do it like that. “

Village People conspiracy after failed Trump music ban to dancing with him on stage

Donald Trump has called upon the Village People to perform at his second inauguration despite them once asking him to not use their music.

Renowned for their 1978 hit Y. M. C. A. , the band will perform alongside Nelly, Carrie Underwood, Kid Rock, Billy Ray Cyrus and Jason Aldean at the US Capitol. The Village People joined Trump on stage hours before his inauguration as they closed his victory rally in Washington D. C.

The Make America Great Again Victory Rally took place on Sunday night as the band performed hit Y. M. C. A. while Trump danced alongside them. Their 1978 disco track has become synonymous with Trump and has been played countless times at his rallies, often accompanied by some fist pumping.

For years, the song was considered to be an anthem for the LGBTQ+ community and the band was founded by two French music producers who were inspired by the scene at a gay club in New York City. Village People frontman Victor Willis, who is the only original member left in the band, previously spoke out against Trump using the track.

The group’s manager Karen Willis sent Trump’s legal team a cease-and-desist letter after he was filmed dancing to the band’s hit Macho Man at Mar-a-Lago two years ago. However, singer Victor has since changed his tune with the onset of publicity. He explained: “Since 2020, I’ve received over a thousand complaints about President Elect Trump’s use of Y. M. C. A.

“With that many complaints, I decided to ask the President Elect to stop using Y. M. C. A. because his use had become a nuisance to me. ” He said the reports of “numerous artists” asking Trump not to use their songs made him have a change of heart. Victor explained: “As such, I simply didn’t have the heart to prevent his continued use of my song in the face of so many artists withdrawing his use of their material. So I told my wife… to not withdraw the Trump campaign political use license. ”

The Village People issued a statement amid backlash online about them performing at Trump’s inauguration. They said: “We are announcing today that VILLAGE PEOPLE have accepted an invitation from President Elect Trump’s campaign to participate in inaugural activities, including at least one event with President Elect Trump. We know this wont make some of you happy to hear however we believe that music is to be performed without regard to politics. “

They said Y. M. C. A. is a global anthem that “hopefully helps bring the country together after a tumultuous and divided campaign where our preferred candidate lost. ” Victor recently admitted Trump can legally play Y. M. C. A. at any of his events since he had previously applied for a political use license.

He added: ”Trump’s use of Y. M. C. A. has greatly benefited the song. For example, when Trump started using Y. M. C. A the song shot back up to #2 on Billboard’s digital chart. ” It is not uncommon for musicians to urge Trump not to use their music at his rallies. There’s a long list of award-winning performers who have refused to lend Trump their music such as Beyonce, Celine Dion, Isaac Hayes’ Family and Bruce Springsteen.

Joey Essex’s alleged stalker who threatened to ‘shoot’ ex-girlfriend is arrested

A woman has been arrested after allegedly stalking Joey Essex.

The TV personality who found fame on The Only Way is Essex is said to have have raised a case with police after an individual sent him over “100,000 messages” and allegedly threatened to shoot his ex-girlfriend, Jessy Potts. In August, it was claimed that his alleged stalker had left “hundreds” of notes under his social media posts.

It was reported that the individual had threatened to “shoot the s**t” out of Jessy, who Joey met on Love Island. Now, local police are said to have seized electronic devices, including a laptop and mobile phone from an individual relating to the case. The individual has since been bailed on the conditions that she does not contact Joey, or travel to Essex or London.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Constabulary told the Mirror: “We can confirm a 34-year-old woman from the Poynton area has been arrested on suspicion of stalking. The woman has been released on conditional bail until February while enquiries continue. “

An insider claimed that Joey “loves” being able to engage with his fans online, and is used to the odd nasty message or troll. However, despite years of practice dealing with haters alongside fans, he claims the recent messages crossed the line.

The source told The Sun: “When he was in the Love Island villa, his team noticed a real uptick in messages from one user in particular, which grew increasingly frightening with some targeted, physical threats and it became cause for concern. Joey is relieved… and grateful to Cheshire Constabulary. ”

Last August, Joey contacted police after he says he received 100,000 messages from his alleged stalker. The person responsible is said to have sent Joey private messages and left “hundreds of notes” under his posts on social media. At the time, the The Sun reported that online messages from the alleged stalker seem to threaten to “shoot the s**t” out of Jessy, who was reportedly also branded a “fat s**g” and a “b***h”.

According to the outlet, Joey “called in police,” with it reported that the reality TV star and his team are due to speak to police to launch “a formal probe” after he became “increasingly concerned” when the content of the messages “grew more menacing. ” The alleged stalker is said to have written in a rant: “Just call me annoying again that’s what you get your insecure in yourself. “

Joey broke his silence to The Sun, explaining how things went so far that he had no choice but to take action. He shared: “We have had to take the decision to report the stalker to the police because the messages have started to become more threatening. I love my fans and want to be able to talk to them online but there has to be a line somewhere and sadly this is it. “

While Jessy was a target of Joey’s alleged stalker, they split just weeks after leaving the villa. After being dumped from the show, Jessy reflected on their journey in a post on Instagram. She wrote: “I had the most amazing time in the villa. It was an absolute dream come true from beginning to end. I have made friends for life, laughed til I cried, and found my Joey. It was an experience I’ll never forget and I made memories that will last forever. “

The Mirror has approached Joey’s spokesperson for comment.
