The 65-year-old TV star’s recipe only requires six main ingredients – and it’s incredibly easy to prepare

Ruth Langsford has revealed her go-to recipe for hearty ‘comfort food’ that’s ideal for dark autumn evenings. Besides its delicious flavour, the Loose Women star said it fills her home with the ‘most amazing smell’ and needs only six main ingredients to prepare.
“Hi everybody,” Ruth said in an Instagram post this week. “Well, autumn is upon us – it’s sweater weather. I do like autumn, actually. I love the cosiness of it and all the colours changing. And I love a stew and a casserole, and that’s what I’m going to make today.”
The 65-year-old TV star kicked off her tutorial by showcasing big bowls of the following ingredients:
Lamb – a mixture of leg and shoulder (diced)
Carrots (very chunky but sliced)
Leeks (very chunky but sliced)
Chopped potatoes
Lamb stock (Ruth likes Knorr stock pots)
Flour seasoned with salt and pepper

Ruth began by placing her diced lamb into a bowl of seasoned flour, ensuring it was well-coated. She then transferred batches of this lamb to a heated pan to brown them in portions.
Once the lamb appeared light brown on the outside, she set this aside on a separate plate. In the meantime, she lightly cooked the chopped leeks and carrots in the same pot.
After a few minutes, she reintroduced the lamb with the potatoes and stock. Instead of boiling the ingredients, Ruth recommended simply increasing the heat slightly before transferring everything to the oven.
“I don’t do tiny pieces or it turns to mush,” Ruth wrote. “Everything goes back in the pot with a lamb stock pot, a gentle simmer (don’t boil!), and then into the oven at 170°C for 20 mins, then turn it down and let it slow cook for about 1hr 45 mins.”
The Loose Women panellist described her dish as a complete ‘meal-in-one’ thanks to its abundance of ingredients. She added: “It fills the house with the most amazing smell and is just perfect for these dark Autumn evenings, Enjoy!!”
Ruth’s recipe was swiftly showered with compliments from fans and celebrity friends alike. Katie Piper, who also frequently appears on Loose Women, said: “Yum.”

The No7 Pro Artist Ultimate Glamour Beauty Vault comes in sparkly pink three tier box that is the perfect present(Image: Boots)
Replenishing a makeup collection can often be a significant expense, sometimes costing £100s – especially for high-quality products that cover all bases. However, Boots’ No7 has released a beauty vault containing all the staple beauty products for a glowing look, and it has been reduced by half, helping shoppers save £92.50 on makeup.
Now costing £44.50 instead of its usual £90 price tag, the No7 Pro Artist Ultimate Glamour Beauty Vault is worth £137 and contains 11 full-size products, which makes it a pretty epic haul. It includes four lip products, two blushes, a bronzer, an eyeliner and two eyeshadow palettes.
While shoppers won’t be able to choose the shades for these products, with multiple options to choose from, it could make a fab gift, or it could be a good opportunity to try new shades for less, as it’s a treasure trove of cosmetic treats. With its current £44.50 price tag, it means each product will essentially cost £4 each – saving £10 on the cheapest product.
As a big fan of the No7 Pro Artist range, having treated myself to the No7 Pro Artist Luxe Liquid Blush and No7 Pro Artist Matte Muse Lipstick last Christmas, I was so excited to get this set. It’ll give me the perfect opportunity to not only stock up on the silky smooth lipstick formula I’ve worn so much, but also try a few new bits that have caught my eye – all the while stashing some goodies away for Secret Santa.
The box in which these treats come is stunning – pink, with gold specs of sparkles decorating it entirely and embossed in the No7 logo. For those giving it as a gift, it eliminates the need for any wrapping paper. With two drawers and a lid that reveals three products, it’s such a cute box that will last way past Christmas.

As an eyeshadow lover, these two palettes are absolutely gorgeous and are ideal for on-the-go or for taking on trips as they’re small and compact, containing four shades. One has a selection of warm, earthy colours (the On-The-Go Look Eye Palette Envy) that is perfect for smoky eyes and will make hazel eyes pop, while the other – the Natural Elegance Eyeshadow Quad, limited edition – has lighter cream-gold tones and browns.
Both palettes have a selection of matte and shimmery powders, with a lovely pigment that makes application rich. In my experience, they rarely budge, although after about eight hours of wear, they naturally diminish slightly.
As for the blushes, I found their texture to be similar to liquid-to-powder formulas (similar to Made by Mitchell’s Blursh) and really easy to apply with a finger or to blend out with a brush. They’re quite pigmented, so don’t need a lot to create a nice flush. Both shades are beautiful, with the Pink Blush providing a brighter, more intense hue.
The lipstick is a lovely matte product in a nude rose shade that’s great for everyday wear, plus it can be spruced up with the lip oil for a glossy finish. Its texture is initially quite hard, but it softens and blends easily, feeling like it won’t budge (albeit with food, it did a smidge).
As for the glosses – or Lip Shines – while the Berry shade was gorgeous and gave such a lovely, deep pink colour that is perfect for winter and matched my skintone, the Luminous Glow Lip Shine Nude Shine wasn’t my favourite. I found the colour made me look rather pale, and it feathered a little on my lips. But this is a preference, and for someone else, it might be ideal.
The highlighter/bronzer is a great combo too, as it gives a soft glow that isn’t too much in the winter months, meanwhile, the eyeliner is double-ended and comes in what I perceive to be a deep blue-black. The pencil is relatively soft, making it easy to apply, while the sponge on the other end is great for softening the line and blending.
Although I will note the sponge fell out of place easily when pulling off the lid. That being said, it was simple to put back in and use. All in all, the No7 Pro Artist Ultimate Glamour Beauty Vault is a great option for No7 makeup fans and makes for a fantastic Christmas present.
It rivals the likes of Lookfantastic’s The Beauty Advent Calendar, which is worth more than £655 and costs £105. This is a good alternative for those who’d rather have an assortment of brands rather than all the same one. For this, OK!’s Limited Edition Beauty Box by Genivieve Turley is another good haul that costs £59.99 but is worth more than £210.
This offer will be running while stock lasts.

Ms Rachel, an American educator and YouTuber known for her children’s music series on language development for infants and toddlers, was honoured at this year’s Glamour Women of the Year Awards.
She was named Woman of the Year for her prominent advocacy for Palestine. Other winners included actress Demi Moore and singer Tyla.
At the show on Tuesday November 4, Rachel displayed a powerful fashion statement, wearing a long, off the shoulder, black and white dress with pictures embroidered onto it.
Sharing the special meaning behind the red carpet look, Rachel revealed that she had asked kids from Gaza to create artwork for her, which highlighted their experiences. She then had the pictures embroidered onto her upcycled dress.
She told Glamour: “I’m carrying their stories in my heart. They all know about the dress, and they’re so excited.”

In her acceptance speech, she told the crowd: “Tonight I am wearing this beautiful dress that has art from kids in Gaza, and these kids are just amazing. They’re so thoughtful and so brilliant.”
“No matter how hard some people try to convince us that empathy is wrong, it’s right,” she added. “No matter how hard people try to convince us that diversity is a weakness, it’s a strength. No matter how hard people try to convince us that love is limited, it’s limitless.”
Rachel ended her speech by giving a special mention to a little girl called Rama who lost both of her sisters. “I want to end with her words because they’re more important than mine. Rama wanted to say: ‘I want to tell the world that my sisters are not numbers. They are moons. They are like the stars – they shine and sparkle.'” Rachel then left the stage receiving a standing ovation.

The YouTuber previously shared how she is continuing to advocate for children all over the world, specifically in Gaza and Sudan.
“My love and care for children doesn’t stop at my own children. It doesn’t stop at the children in our country. It embraces every child of the world.”
Rachel shared how she thinks having a platform is a positive thing, as using it can “highlight issues and get a message to a bigger audience.” She believes how that is a powerful role that should be used to the greatest extent.
Ms Rachel has been one of the loudest voices advocating for Palestine and has consistently used her social media platform to speak out for Palestinian children. She has refused to work with anyone who has not spoken out against the Israeli treatment on Gazans.

Beauty fans are in for a treat this month as Black Friday discounts are dropping early, with some already live – and now Charlotte Tilbury has joined in the mix. And the deals on offer help shoppers save up to 50% on some of its best-selling products.
Having launched this week, fans of the cult-favourite beauty brand will be pleased to hear its viral mystery boxes are back in shades Pretty Pink and Cheeky Peach for the shopping event, both of which are now half-price. As they sold out rapidly last year, we can’t see these bundles sticking around for long. Featuring four beauty buys, the Charlotte’s Beauty Treats Mystery Box costs £51 instead of its usual £103 and contains a selection of makeup and skincare icons.
While its contents tucked inside the crimson boxes are not known, from the brand’s subtle teaser images – which offer a sneak peak – it looks like the bundle includes a moisturiser, lipstick, mascara and palette. And while we know the two boxes will have shoppers donning either a pink look or more of a peachy vibe, the exact shades and styles are a secret until they are opened, even to us.

While the Charlotte Tilbury Mystery hauls haven’t received any comments just yet – having just launched – shoppers from previous years have praised the quality and delight of the items, with one person on TrustPilot revealing: “The mystery box was a smash! Loved it and the palette.” Although they did note: “The only negative I could possibly have is the packages seems very drugstore, not at all what I expected I’m sorry to say.”
Popstar Charli XCX was worried her label were going to drop her because of her BRAT album that became her most successful yet – and hinted at a potential release of new music soon

Charli XCX confessed she had a ‘lot of luck’ with the timing of BRAT(Image: GETTY)
Global popstar Charli XCX has admitted she thought she was going to be dropped by her label after her BRAT album as she feared it was ‘so out there’.
The singer topped the charts with her album BRAT, which also saw her win five Brit Awards, but in a chat with Gwyneth Paltrow on her GOOP podcast, Charli said she wasn’t thinking about the response to her album while she was making it.
The Party 4 U singer said: “I think when I was making it, I wasn’t thinking about the response at all. I actually made this record being like, ‘OK, I’m just going to do this one for me and maybe I’m going to get dropped by my label and that’s fine’. That was kind of the headspace that I was in.”

She also said there is a “lot of luck with timing” and the way that culture is moving, and added: “I think when I released this record, it’s like people were wanting something that felt very real and messy. And I think that’s just the way that culture was swinging.”
The album became the start of a cultural movement known as Brat Summer, a phenomenon that took over pop culture with its flurry of radioactive-green text memes and endless references to the album and themes of party girls of many genders, late nights, late mornings, and drugs.
After her success of BRAT, Charli, who recently married boyfriend and The 1975 drummer George Daniel, had hinted she was going to take a break from making music, however she has now teased there could be more in the pipelines, and completely different to what she’s previously released. “I’m really interested to see what comes next in pop culture, especially in the music space, what people are craving.

“I really like to work in contrast. I think whatever I do next will just inherently be different to Brat because that’s what feels natural. I’m exploring a lot of stuff with strings at the moment, which I’m really enjoying and I haven’t really worked in that space before.”
The star has also revealed she’s heading for the big screen too, with a number of movies on the way including Faces Of Death and I Want Your Sex.

Now branching into acting, she said: “And don’t get me wrong, I love making music, but I think there was just a point where I was kind of like, OK, I really need to exercise my creativity in a different way. I don’t actually really listen to that much music ever. I never really have. But what I am doing is I’m always watching films.”
Loose Women panellist Denise Welch opened up about adjusting to a health condition she hadn’t realised she had, following many years of struggling with depression

Denise Welch was diagnosed with ADHD in recent years (Image: ITV)
Loose Women’s Denise Welch has admitted she “completely underestimated” a condition she was diagnosed with in recent years. The actress has been candid about her struggle with depression over the years, but in 2022 she discovered she also has ADHD.
According to the NHS, ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) is a condition that affects how the brain functions. Symptoms can include difficulty paying attention, hyperactivity and impulsiveness.
Denise found out she had ADHD after being offered an assessment through Loose Women, following her co-star Nadia Sawalha’s own diagnosis and suspicions.
Discussing the discovery, the 67-year-old said: “To me, depression had always been my illness. I’d never considered that anything else was there.
“And I thought, well if it’s just that I interrupt a lot, sometimes girls that’s because you’re boring me, you know, I’m not going to take tablets because I interrupt a lot, or maybe I sort of go off on a tangent, thinking that’s maybe what it was, so I did the whole thing [assessment].
“And needless to say, I was diagnosed ADHD. And it’s only now on my second attempt at medication, which came after a breakdown last year, [my] first in five years, that I’ve realised how I had completely underestimated the impact of ADHD on me running parallel with my depression.”
Discussing how earlier awareness may have helped her understand her diagnosis, Denise added: “And if I had shown signs before I had Matthew, if maybe there was more money spent on women’s health, they would find a huge link between ADHD and postnatal depression, severe postnatal depression.”
The Loose Women star battled with depression after the birth of her first child, The 1975 frontman Matty Healy.
She refers to this illness as “the unwelcome visitor”, which led her to resort to alcohol and drugs in an attempt to escape it.
“My cocaine dependency didn’t start until my late thirties,” she revealed to Elizabeth Day on her How To Fail podcast.
She further explained that she was initially “vehemently against” drugs in her twenties and “had no desire to have anything more than a drink on a Friday [or] Saturday night with my friends”.
“That was me, but my desperation to lift this immovable depression led me to what will do it? That will,” Denise added.
The actress, who has been clean for over a decade now, continued: “When I’ve been depressed subsequently in the last four years and I have taken my ADHD tablet, it has the same effect, but not the I’m going to drink and smoke effect.”

If you suspect you may be dealing with depression or ADHD, it’s important to consult your GP for guidance and support. Help and advice can also be found on the NHS website.
