River Island shoppers have compared the dress to one by a luxury brand – but there’s a big price difference

River Island shoppers are impressed with a “classy” dress that’s similar to one by a luxury brand. The retailer is well known for it’s on-trend fashion and accessories – and now there may be a new fan favourite on the shelves.

The high street retailer is selling the Long Sleeve Square Neck Mini Dress, priced at £42, in several colours; brown, black, cream polka dot, green, pink and red. It is available in sizes six to 22.

The dress features a square neckline, long sleeves, decorative pockets and a mini length. The retailer has noted online that shoppers should machine wash the product at a maximum 30°C, cool iron it and warns not to dry clean it.

For those keen to get their hands on a similar dress, there are a number of other retailers with options. Next stocks the Friends Like These Black Long Sleeve Square Neck Mini Dress for £36.

PrettyLittleThing also has the Chocolate Structured Woven Boat Neck Shift Dress on sale for £17.25, down from £32. New Look is selling the Black Pocket Detail Mini Dress for £27.99.

The River Island dress has gained attention on TikTok, with user Shileen (@shileen18) showing off the cream polka dot version in a recent clip. Her video was captioned: “Odd Muse vibes from @riverisland.”

Elsewhere on TikTok, fashion page @thescousestylists shared a clip showcasing the dress in black during a trip to River Island. The post was captioned: “The perfect black dress from @riverisland” while text over it read: “This dress is giving Odd Muse vibes.”

In the video, the two ladies discussed the dress and how they’d style it. They added: “This is giving Odd Muse vibes. Oh, it is, yeah.”

They also said it would be a “nice option for the races” and dubbed it “classy” and ideal for night out, adding that it is “very Odd Muse.” They added that it is “such an elegant and classy dress.”

Some shoppers have taken to review website TrustPilot to share their thoughts on River Island, particularly when it comes to large sizing, so it might be worth keeping this in mind when ordering online. One person said: “Lovely quality but not great sizing.”

Another customer shared: “The quality of most clothes I’ve tried on are good… but the sizing is HUGE!! I recently bought some new UK size 6 shorts, skirts, jeans and trousers and they slid down my hips and legs! They wouldn’t stay on my hips! The dress was huge on me too! I’ve had to return most of the order (kept the UK size 4 items).”

The dress is similar to luxury brand Odd Muse’s The Ultimate Muse Split Sleeve Mini Dress. The high end dress is priced at £135, while River Island’s comes in at £42.

The two feature similar structured designs, with long sleeves, decorative pockets and cinched waist. However, the Odd Muse dress has a higher neckline and wider, flared sleeves than the River Island version.

Nick Knowles’ fiancée looked like she had the time of her life at her hen party in what she described was the “last fling before the ring”. The couple are getting ready to waltz down the aisle after Nick proposed in New Orleans two years ago.

Katie Dadzie, 34, who is 28 years younger than Nick, 62, met the BBC DIY SOS star in 2021 and shared a selection of snaps from her hen do ahead of the couple’s nuptials, in which her friends all donned masks with Nick’s face on. Captioning the carousel, the “last fling before the ring”, Katie posed up a storm in the photos wearing a white strapless mini dress and pearl earrings, with her brown locks styled into loose curls.

Dancing alongside her friends at the Karma Sanctum Hotel in London, the mum-of-two could be seen in fits of laughter as her pals all posed with paper masks with Nick’s face on, recreating the hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil emojis.

In another shot, Katie holds up her hand to show a jelly ring nestled above her engagement ring as she poses in front of a screen, which displays loved-up photos of her and Nick.

Speaking to the Mirror about the Katie’s hen party, Ellie Silk, Head of Events at GoHen.com, said: “Katie absolutely nailed the hen party brief – fun, glam and just the right amount of wild!”

“And the Nick Knowles face masks? Iconic. DIY hen party accessory S.O.Yes!”

The lingerie and sex toy business owner, who also owns another company, Boobbix which sells ‘lactation products for breastfeeding mums’, met Nick at his youngest son’s playgroup.

Katie has two daughters from a previous relationship – while Strictly Come Dancing star, Nick, has four.

The presenter’s youngest son, Eddie, inadvertently served as the couple’s matchmaker – after dad Nick put him in the same playgroup as Katie’s little ones, when filming in the United States, according to reports.

Katie recently opened up about how she found the courage to pose for her lingerie brand, Boa Boa.

Admitting that she wasn’t initially keen to model her pieces, the mum-of-two owner thanked Nick for encouraging her to ‘represent her business proudly’.

Katie explained: “Nick said to me he thought that I should do it to represent the brand and the ethos that we have of being comfortable with yourself and loving the skin you’re in.” The mother of two added that she “doesn’t love the skin she’s in,” but explained to the Daily Mail that Nick reminded her to set an example of self acceptance.

“For me to be in front of the camera the first time was absolutely hideous. I was cacking my pants, I was terrified,” Katie admitted, and revealed how it took a larger model encouraging her to be brave and take her dressing gown off during her first lingerie shoot.

While Katie is focusing on her own company, Nick has been busy in physio and rehab after undergoing gruelling surgery before Christmas.

Nick was on Strictly Come Dancing last year, and had to pull out of one of the live shows in October after injuring his knee during rehearsals. He became the third celebrity to leave the show, but admitted he “played down” his injuries before being voted out.

Katie Price has heartbreakingly opened up on abuse she suffered in past relationships. The former glamour model, 46, is known for having a very rocky love life, yet behind closed doors it seems she was subject to horrific mental and physical abuse.

She is now happily loved up with Married At First Sight UK star JJ Slater, but it wasn’t always that way. Katie, who has only been single for three years in her adult life, has had eight engagements and three marriages – all of which have ended in divorce.

In a very candid confession, Katie looked back at her romantic relationships and how she was treated. “There was domestic abuse, gaslighting, narcissists and that’s all I was used to,” she shared.

Opening up on the impact it had on her life, she said: “When you are in them kind of relationships and they isolate you, even from your family. If you want to see your family, they have to be there, won’t let you see your friends, put you down or ‘how long are you going to be’ and ‘where are you’.

“‘Why are you doing that job, you’re a s**g if you want to do that’. I have only ever been used to that. If I was working, they would have to come to work with me and you never get a break. It ends up being 24/7 on my case. It is exhausting.”

While on Paul C Brunson’s We Need to Talk podcast, he asked Katie if there was a relationship moment that she’s not yet unpacked in therapy.

She devastatingly replied: “Being strangled, spat on, my computer being completely smashed, holes being punched in the wall, the name calling, things like that.”

Katie was asked if she ever feared for her life, as she explained: “Yes, but I couldn’t leave because [the partners say] ‘I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. I’ll never do it again. I love you, and it’s always ‘you will never find anyone as good as me.

“You will never find anyone who loves you like me. No one would accept you, and who would want you an old has-been like you with five kids? You are lucky I want you.’

“It is very easy to say to someone who is a victim of mental or physical abuse because you won’t see it. It is behind closed doors. It is the worst situation to be in.”

Katie added: “It is so easy done and it happens very quick. You fall for it but really you fall into the red flags of them isolating you. It all starts, the comments.”

Paul explained his two signs of a good relationship; feeling better with your partner and feeling free. Despite her romance with JJ, Katie admitted: “I’ve never had that in any relationship. Never had any of them.

“And JJ, he’s the most kindest, genuine, easygoing, chilled person. But do I feel my most happiest and do I feel free? No. It’s not a reflection on him, maybe that’s what I need to change for myself.”

Just last week, JJ and Katie were hit by split rumours. Some fans noticed Katie hadn’t featured JJ on her Instagram in a while and JJ has also not posted Katie on his own account in 23 weeks. They also spent Christmas apart.

Amid the speculation, Katie’s representative settled the rumours once and for all. They told the Mirror that the rumours are “not true” and that “nothing has been removed, they’re continuing as normal.”

A new Netflix documentary has explored the rise and fall of Liver King, the fitness influencer who built a huge following by promoting an extreme ancestral lifestyle online

Fitness influencer Liver King, whose real name is Brian Johnson, became an internet sensation by promoting his extreme ancestral lifestyle, which included eating raw meat and testicles, alongside a punishing exercise routine.

Netflix has just dropped a new documentary delving into how Liver King built his online empire and the scandal that nearly toppled it all.

Despite being grilled in interviews about whether steroids played a part in sculpting his muscular frame, he vehemently denied it every time, claiming his physique was purely the result of the all-natural way of life he promoted.

But the façade crumbled when an email leak exposed his staggering $11,000 monthly spend on performance-enhancing drugs, leading to an apology video where he confessed to steroid use.

Among the sceptics was podcaster Logan Paul. In 2022, Liver King confronted steroid speculation head-on during an appearance on Paul’s Impaulsive podcast, fiercely rejecting the claims, reports Surrey Live.

“If you don’t believe this is possible [being natural], then I suggest that you take that self-limiting belief, you put that s*** in a box and you bury that next to all your embarrassing s*** and don’t open your f****** mouth about it,” Brian had fired back when pressed on the issue.

Logan was quick to slam the influencer for his steroid scandal, with his blunt six-word reaction captured in a Netflix documentary.

“You lied to my f****** face,” he vents to the camera in the wake of the Liver King’s apology video being released.

Despite being called out for dishonesty, the Liver King still boasts an impressive online presence. At the last count, he has nearly three million followers on Instagram, six million TikTok fans, and a YouTube subscriber base topping one million, even though he’s not much of a regular poster.

The documentary also shows Brian confessing that he’s toned down his extreme lifestyle, admitting: “I was so convinced all of the carnivore stuff, well, that’s all you needed to really kick ass in life. I’m convinced now I was starving myself… I guess I want the world to know that I was wrong. I got all of it wrong… There’s a lot more that I don’t know than I do know.”

Saturday Night Live comedian Sarah Sherman broke her silence on the White Lotus sketch that received backlash from Aimee Lou Wood for being ‘mean and unfunny’

Saturday Night Live star Sarah Sherman broke her silence after the comedian and producers of the show were criticised for mocking Aimee Lou Wood’s teeth in a White Lotus sketch. The BAFTA winning actress, 31, was left feeling offended and angry after watching the skit which ridiculed her appearance, calling it ‘mean and unfunny’.

The skit saw actress Sarah do an exaggerated impersonation of Aimee while using dramatic prosthetic teeth. The sketch was based on US President Donald Trump and his top team spending time at the fictional White Lotus hotel. Aimee’s character Chelsea, portrayed by cast member Sarah, was seen referencing the actress’s teeth in the scenes as she asks: “Fluoride? What’s that?”

In response to the skit, Aimee said that she was left questioning her own appearance. She told her Instagram followers: “Whilst in honest mode – I did find the SNL thing mean and unfunny.”

After watching the sketch, Aimee said that she’s ‘not thin-skinned’ and understands that the show’s humour relies on exaggeration and ‘caricature’, but that the whole joke ‘was about fluoride.’ Aimee insisted: “I have big gap teeth, not bad teeth.”

Aimee noted that most of the sketch aimed at those in power and she felt singled out. She continued: “The rest of the skit was punching up, and I/Chelsea was the only one punched down on.” She clarified she wasn’t hitting out at Sarah herself but ‘hating on the concept’ of the sketch.

She even included a comment from a viewer who first found the sketch ‘sharp and funny’ before it took a ‘misogynistic’ turn.

“This sums up my view,” the actress agreed. Aimee also took issue with Sarah’s portrayal of her, and in particular, her voice and her accent: “I respect accuracy even if it’s mean.”

While SNL were quick to apologised for the sketch and even edited the online version, Sarah remained quiet on the controversial topic until now.

Sarah sent Aimee flowers after offending her, which Aimee shared on social media, but she only recently spoke out in an interview with Vanity Fair.

“I was excited to play her because she’s so iconic, her character is so iconic, and I f***ing obviously never meant to hurt anyone’s feelings,” Sarah said.

“Never in a million years did I get into comedy to make anyone upset. I feel terrible that anyone would feel bad,” she added. When asked whether she has to think about the possibilities of offending people while doing sketches, Sarah said: “Totally.”

“The show is in constant dialogue with culture as it’s happening, and it happens really fast. You have to be vigilant, you know what I mean?” the star continued.

“There are a lot of things out of your control. You’re playing a lot of different parts, you’re doing a lot of different roles that you’re not in control of.” She went on to say ‘staying vigilant’ while being part of the show is part of the job.
