Photographer, Melissa Lim, is credited with persuading Noel Gallagher to stay with Oasis after the star had a major fallout with his brother, Liam, in 1994

The mystery woman who many reckon stopped Oasis from splitting up 30 years ago surprised Noel Gallagher at the band’s reunion gig in California at the weekend.

Photographer, Melissa Lim, was in the packed-out stadium at the Rose Bowl on Saturday after spending time with the Don’t Look Back In Anger star in 1994 after meeting Noel at one of Oasis’ first gigs.

After she captioned a photo of Oasis on stage surrounded by fireworks at the weekend: “30 years and worth the wait. Thank you @oasis”, a fan page responded with a throwback snap of Melissa and Noel, posting: “Melissa Lim, the lady that saved Oasis attended the show at the Rose Bowl on Saturday, September 6th.”

The post continued: “Did you know? She played a quiet, yet pivotal role in Oasis history. She’s widely recognised as the woman who prevented Noel Gallagher from leaving the band, becoming the muse behind the song Talk Tonight and even influencing the album title (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?”

Melissa spoke about her relationship with Noel in the San Francisco Chronicle last year, revealing that she met the star backstage in the US in 1994, supporting the band’s soon-to-be-platinum-selling album, Definitely Maybe.

After Noel reportedly asked the photographer if he could “hang out” with her that night, their encounter would become a significant part of the group’s early history, as told in the epic 2016 Oasis documentary, Supersonic.

Three days after their disastrous concert in LA at which Liam reportedly threw a tambourine at his older brother, Noel is said to have sought refuge at Melissa’s apartment in San Francisco.

“He was very upset,” Melissa said. “I took him in, fed him and tried to calm him down. He wanted to break up the band.”

She continued: “San Francisco has a reputation of being a place where bands come to die, like the Band and the Sex Pistols. I wasn’t going to let it happen on my watch. I told him, ‘You can’t leave the band — you’re on the verge of something big.’”

While the documentary refers to Mark Coyle, the band’s producer, calling Melissa a “spiritual animal,” Noel’s recollection of their time together is somewhat hazy.

“If I close my eyes now, I can’t even picture the girl,” he says in the film. “I can’t remember her name.”

When the Chronicle asked Oasis to confirm Lim’s story, Noel declined to comment.

However, responding to Melissa’s post at the weekend, many Oasis fans thanked her for keeping the band together, as one said: “I was just watching a video on my laptop of Noel singing Talk Tonight on MTV unplugged in 1996 and your image popped up on my Insta!! That’s crazy!!!

“This is my favourite song and I cried like a baby. Thank you for being the inspiration for this epic song and I’m so happy you got to see them!! I hope he invited you back stage ;).”

Big Brother star Mike Goldman has heartbreakingly revealed his house has burnt down and shared the devastating impact on his family. The voice-over legend, 52, was asleep with his wife Bianca Zouppas–Goldman, and their one–year–old son, Jagger, when their home went up in flames.

Mike, who narrates the Australian version of the hit social experiment, said he feared his family wouldn’t be alive today if his two-storey home in Brisbane didn’t have smoke alarms.

He has credited the home safety device with saving their lives as he spoke of the terrifying experience for the first time. Mike harrowingly said: “If the [smoke] alarm hadn’t gone off, I wouldn’t be here today. I’m alive because of it.”

The affects of such a life changing incident have stayed with him as he shared: “I still wake up at night, and I’m sleeping like a real light sleeper at the moment. I never used to be a light sleeper.

“And I’m waking up sometimes and I’m thinking, ‘I think I see smoke, I think I smell smoke’, and I’m like, ‘calm down’.” Mike said the fire was “such an intense experience” as he recalled to the Courier–Mail details of the night that destroyed his home.

He said it is always in the back of his mind as he remembers how it could have had a very different ending. Mike shared how he was alerted to the fire through his smoke alarm.

Initially, he thought the batteries just need changing but then heard the fire. Mike saw smoke and said the lights in his home wouldn’t turn on or off.

He still doesn’t know what caused the blaze to the home two months ago, but thankfully his house is insured. The TV star has even teamed up with Checktember, a national smoke alarm safety campaign Down Under.

He is urging everyone to check their smoke alarm and take it “seriously”. Mike shot to fame thanks to his role as the famous narrator on the Australian version of Big Brother in the early 2000s.

He worked on the hit reality show for years from 2001 to 2014. The TV presenter also hosted his own spin-off series, Up Late, which featured the live evictions from the house.

Since leaving Big Brother, Mike has appeared on the Tiger King-inspire series Joe vs. Carole and NBC Universal’s Young Rock. He met his wife Bianca in an acting class in 2016 where they fell in love.

They went on to marry in 2019 and welcomed their first child Jagger in May last year. Prior to them welcoming their son through IVF, Bianca had bravely documented their complications with trying to conceive.

Daisy May Cooper looked fantastic at her son’s sixth birthday party, where she wore a black jumpsuit that showed off her new figure after losing 10 stone. The comedian and actor has had quite the weight loss journey over the past three years and revealed the simple lifestyle changes that helped her work so hard to slim down.

Speaking to The Sunday Times, Daisy shared that the best advice she’d been given was “from Denise Welch, who said stopping drinking is life-changing”. Alongside ditching the alcohol, she opted for a keto diet, which focuses on low-carb, high-fat meals.

Keto diets are said to encourage the body into a metabolic state called ketosis, where the body starts burning stored fat and turning them into ketones in the liver. By limiting carb intake to 20-50 grams a day, the body will start to use up fat for energy.

There are many low-carb diets to follow, such as Atkins or the paleo diet, but while these are high in protein with a moderate amount of fat, the keto diet contains higher fat and a moderate amount of protein. It’s health benefits are debated and some NHS hospitals who offer it as a treatment for drug resistant epilepsy and certain metabolic conditions insist on close monitoring by a specialist dietitian.

Daisy also appeared on the BBC podcast How to Be in the Spotlight in June and said changes to her medication impacted her weight loss. “I was put on some medication for depression, Quetiapine. It slows your metabolism right down to a crawl and it makes you have the munchies 24/7.

“I was put on it just before I started This Country. What people weren’t aware of is I’d always been a size 8 to 10. It was that medication that made me balloon.”

She credited coming off the medication with a dramatic weight loss: It wasn’t until I made the decision to come off that that people were like, “Oh my God, she’s so different and she’s losing all this weight”. This was always who I was, so shedding all of that was great.”

It is important to note that coming off antidepressants does can come with serious side effects and you should always talk to your doctor before choosing to stop medication.

Daisy made it clear that one thing was not involved in her weight loss – surgery. “I haven’t had any surgery. I did go in to have a consultation for a tummy tuck and the surgeon just scared the s*** out of me.”

Speaking to Grazia, she opened up about the reason she started losing weight in the first place, despite being “so for body positivity”.

“I’m so for body positivity, but when I was at my biggest, I was at my most miserable and I had a massive food addiction. I wasn’t healthy. I couldn’t breathe when I was walking up the stairs. I was so unhappy.”

She has received backlash for her weight loss and spoke about how “angry” some comments made her. “I’ve had some messages like, “Well, now you’ve lost the weight you’re not funny any more.” What the f**k? Why do women have to be f**king fat to be funny?

“That makes me so angry. I champion anybody. I think everybody should be happy with their body.”
