James Bond legend Lee Tamahori has died at the age of 75. The New Zealand-born director was best known for having been at the helm of Die Another Day in 2002, which starred Pierce Brosnan in the title role of the iconic 007 spy and featured a soundtrack headed up by Madonna, but he passed away after battling Parkinson’s Disease for a period of time.
In a statement, his family said: “His legacy endures with his whānau, his mokopuna, every filmmaker he inspired, every boundary he broke, and every story he told with his genius eye and honest heart. A charismatic leader and fierce creative spirit, Lee championed Māori talent both on and off screen.
“He ultimately returned home to tell stories grounded in whakapapa and identity, with Mahana and his latest film The Convert, reaffirming his deep connection to Aotearoa. We’ve lost an immense creative spirit.”

Arsenal owner and property mogul Stan Kroenke has seen his net worth soar in the last four years as the Gunners chase their first Premier League title since 2004

A brilliant season so far for Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke has got even better with news his wealth has ballooned by £11billion. The Gunners are hot favourites to win the Premier League title after a storming start.
Mikel Arteta’s side have built a six-point lead over Manchester City. Eight wins in 10 games have vindicated the club’s £250million summer spending spree, which saw players like Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze arrive at the Emirates.
It seems that outlay has barely put a net in Kroenke’s fortune, which now stands at a whopping £17.7bn, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index and Forbes. That’s a staggering increase of more than £11bn from just four years ago, when his net worth stood at around £6.4bn.
Much of Kroenke’s wealth can be attributed to his property portfolio, which comprises an estimated 60million square feet of commercial real estate. He is also a major landowner with more than 1.6million acres of ranches across the United States and Canada.
In sport, as well as being Arsenal’s majority shareholder since 2011, he owns the NBA’s Denver Nuggets, ice hockey franchise the Colorado Avalanche, and MLS side the Colorado Rapids. Kroenke also owns the Los Angeles Rams, relocating the franchise back to California from St Louis in 2016.

Amid the team’s shortage of silverware since the second half of Arsene Wenger’s reign, Kroenke has previously come under fire from Gunners fans for the side’s lack of success.
That criticism has subsided in recent times, as Arteta has transformed Arsenal into genuine title contenders again with three successive second-place finishes in the Premier League. Given the Gunners’ strength in depth now, this season feels like the club’s best opportunity to clinch the league title for the first time since the Invincibles season of 2003/04.
A rigid defence and set-piece success have been the backbone of Arsenal’s form so far this term. Earlier this week, the Gunners took their winning streak in all competitions into double figures with a 3-0 victory over Slavia Prague.
That fixture also equalled a club record for consecutive clean sheets and saw a Champions League record broken when Max Dowman came off the bench aged 15 years and 308 days to become the competition’s youngest-ever debutant.
Arsenal also equalled the 1969/70 Leeds team, who until Tuesday night had been the only English side in European Cup or Champions League history to win their first four games without conceding a goal. Despite a number of injury concerns in forward areas, the Gunners machine keeps moving forward.
Arteta hailed the mentality of his players to always want more. The team’s eighth clean sheet in a row equalled a club record dating back to 1903, and Arteta said: “That’s a long time ago, so it tells you about the difficulty of achieving it.
“There’s a lot of work there to achieve that. The most pleasing thing is probably not the record, it’s the mindset of the players. They are talking about how we can still do better.”

Gardeners’ World star Monty Don shared how an unforeseen setback plunged him and his wife Sarah into financial difficulty before a major U-turn

Monty Don and his long-term wife Sarah once found themselves “penniless”, after a devastating blow. Before achieving fame, the Gardeners’ World presenter and his spouse ran a costume jewellery business in London.
With the help of 20 in-house staff members plus many more outworkers, they successfully stocked products in upmarket retailers such as Harrods and Harvey Nichols.
However, by the end of the 1980s, financial difficulties forced everything to cease and the couple had no option but to “sell everything”.
Reflecting on what his renowned Jewel Garden had taught him, the 70-year-old explained: “It began as a kind of celebration and sort of to confront a situation whereby Sarah and I had a jewellery business in the 80s. At the end of the 80s, the business collapsed because of huge interest hikes.
“We lost dollars in America and so we wound it down and in order to wind it down, we basically had to sell everything we had, and I mean everything we had.
“So, we were penniless and eventually, for a combination of circumstances, we got enough money to buy a ruin and an empty field which is Longmeadow.”
From that moment onwards, Monty said he and Sarah concentrated on transforming the ruin into a home and creating a garden they could treasure.
Once they’d settled in, he revealed on the BBC Gardeners’ World Magazine podcast: “We thought we should celebrate what was great about the jewellery business and there were a lot of good things, you know, we did a lot of stuff with pop music, rock, film and opera. The 80s in fashion was a a very sort of interesting, exciting time.
“So, we began this garden and we explored the idea. That’s what taught us about colour and colour schemes and how when you’re gardening you need to have defined parameters with colour, you can’t just chuck everything [in] it looks terrible!”.
Speaking about how he and Sarah crafted their dream garden as a team, he revealed that he primarily handles the “design, structure and physical planting” aspects, while his wife shines with the finer details.
“I’ve learnt [about] colour from her,” he shared. “She has perfect pitch when it comes to colour which is quite a rare thing.
“So, she can see a colour of any sort and go into another building and if there are thousands of swatches of fabric, she’ll choose exactly that colour and it’ll match.”
Thanks to this talent, the gardening expert said it’s enabled them to cultivate a desirable colour scheme with their plants – as viewers witness on the BBC programme.

Additionally, Monty joked that while Sarah’s precision is “really annoying”, it has contributed to the creativity.
“I planted a hedge, you know a socking great hedge, and she was out and she came back and I said, ‘What do you think?’ and she looked and she does this thing where she’ll go, ‘It needs to be moved one foot that way’. And she was right,” he added.
Amy Dowden has provided fans with an update following her second mastectomy surgery. Taking to social media, the Strictly star confirmed the operation has gone well.
She shared an image of herself in her hospital bed on her Instagram account. The professional dancer was first diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2023.
At the time, she underwent treatment including a mastectomy, chemotherapy, fertility treatment. She also almost died of sepsis, before recovering and returning to Strictly.
She had revealed earlier in the week how she required another mastectomy operation. And in an update, she has shared it went well – and she was even watching the Celebrity Traitors finale.

Taking to Instagram, Amy shared an image of herself in a hospital bed with husband Ben and family members with her. She wrote: “Thank you for all the messages and love.
“Sorry I’ve not replied to anyone, (only just looked at my phone). Surgery went well and lots of sleep and resting up.”
She went on: “Hubby & Family have been looking after me and the besties have turned up with the goods and nothing is stopping us from watching the traitors…keeping the tradition going.”
Many of her Strictly pals and cast mates were quick to comment on the update. Among them was fellow dancer Dianne Buswell, who said: “Heal and rest up Amy.”
Claudia Winkleman also responded with a quartet of love heart emojis. And so did Karen Hauer, while another follower wrote: “What a ray of sunshine you are! Even smiling for the camera after surgery! Be kind to yourself, go gently and get well soon xxx”
Speaking of her initial diagnosis, Amy, 35, previously said she stared death in the face during her gruelling cancer battle after initially “thinking the worst”. She was given the all clear in February 2024.
In an Instagram post at the weekend, the Welsh star said: “As you all know I’ve always been very open about my health and the care I receive. So I’d like to start by being clear what I am about to share is not to treat a new cancer diagnosis.
“However, following a recent appointment with my incredible medical team, we’ve decided that I’ll be having another mastectomy this week. They’re confident that, all going well, I can expect a straightforward recovery. Once I have healed I look forward to rejoining my strictly family.
“Of course I’m going to miss not being there so much but I will be watching from home and look forward to cheering everyone on. Thank you always for all the support.”

Caroline Flack heartbreakingly admitted that she ‘couldn’t see any way out’ before she took her own life, according to final voice notes and text messages that have now come to light

Caroline Flack said she ‘couldn’t see any way out’ in heartbreaking texts and voicenotes sent before her death.
The former Love Island presenter took her own life in February 2020 at the age of 40 as she was awaiting trial for the alleged assault of her boyfriend.
A coroner determined that her mental health had worsened following her arrest, with an inquest hearing that the presenter had been “hounded” by sections of the media. Now the star’s desperate final messages have been shared – with the permission of her family – in a brand new documentary.
The TV presenter’s mother Christine retraces her daughter’s steps before her tragic death as part of new Disney+ documentary Caroline Flack: The Search for the Truth. In the trailer, Caroline can be heard saying: “I’m just really going all over the place, my head doesn’t know what to think at any point.”

Mum Christine says the phone messages Caroline left behind tell the ‘real story.’ A new trailer for the documentary shows a message sent by the late Love Island presenter which reads: “I feel the lowest I’ve ever felt, I don’t see any way out of this.”
Revealing why she has decided to share the untold side of her daughter’s story, Christine admits: “I’ve got nothing to lose. The worst thing in the world has happened. My daughter has died. As a parent, we think our children are always gonna be there. I want justice for my daughter.”
And in the very last moment of the documentary trailer, the former Strictly Come Dancing star is heard saying: “I think I should make a documentary about all this! What do you think?” as she reflects on the trauma of her looming court case. Caroline was also replaced on her Love Island hosting job as she waited for her court trial.
Caroline was accused of assaulting her boyfriend, Lewis Burton following a row at her flat.
In 2023, the Metropolitan Police apologised to Flack’s family for not keeping a record about why they charged her with assault.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) had recommended the former Love Island presenter receive a caution following an incident with her boyfriend but this was overturned after an appeal from the Met Police who instead charged her with assault by beating.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said the force was ordered to apologise to Flack’s family following a review by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) which found there was not a “record of rationale” to appeal against the CPS decision.
Split into two parts, Caroline Flack: Search for the Truth will see mum Christine revisit the events that occurred prior to Caroline taking her own life in 2020. Both episodes will be released on the streaming platform on November 10.
Ahead of the release date, Disney+ shared an emotional scene from the documentary in which Christine visits her daughter’s grave with family as they discuss her mission to expose those who contributed to her daughter’s spiralling mental health. She later addresses the camera directly, saying: “I think Caroline would be pleased with what I’m doing. I wish I’d done it then, before she took her own life – and that’s my biggest regret, that I wasn’t shouting like this, then.”
She continues: “But now, I’ve got nothing to lose. The worst thing in the world happened with losing Carrie.”
A synopsis for the upcoming Disney+ documentary states: “After her arrest in 2019, she became the target of a relentless media storm. Vilified in the press and online, her world spiralled – ending in tragedy when she took her own life.

“This powerful two-part Disney+ documentary follows Caroline’s mother, Christine, as she investigates the truth about her daughter’s final months – uncovering new shocking details, asking difficult questions, and exposing the misrepresentations, pressures, and failures from institutions and decision makers that shaped Caroline’s final days.”
