Jimmy Kimmel axe blasted by Stephen Colbert as host blames Donald Trump

Stephen Colbert has jumped to the defence of pal and fellow TV presenter Jimmy Kimmel following ABC’s decision to axe his show. Jimmy Kimmel Live! was pulled “indefinitely” following the presenter’s comments regarding the death of activist Charlie Kirk.

Now, following Donald Trump’s celebrating of the announcement, Colbert has hit out at the president and ABC’s call on the situation. He blasted the decision as “blatant censorship” in a rant which also saw him label Trump an “autocrat”.

Colbert began his monologue on Thursday by saying, “I’m your host, Steven Colbert, but tonight we’re all Jimmy Kimmel,” and he’s taken to the screens behind his own late-night talk show.

You cannot give an inch without an autocrat, he continued. I firmly agree with you and your staff, Jimmie. He dedicated his show to the audience, his employees, and free speech.

A day earlier, Jimmy took to the ABC programme to call out what he said he thought was hypocrisy in how Republicans have responded to the death of Kirk. However, his actions were met with a heavy hand by bosses at the organisation her pulled his show from air.

The broadcasting division of Nexstar, according to Andrew Alford, president of the company, “strongly objected” to Kimmel’s remarks. President Trump expressed his joy after making the choice.

The POTUS congratulated ABC on Truth Social and said Kimmel had “no talent.” However, his opinions weren’t shared by everyone, and a number of famous people were quick to criticize the ax.

Colbert criticized the decision in a letter to Hollywood legends like Ben Stiller and British comedian John Bishop. On social media, Henry Winkler also expressed his support for Kimmel.

However, Piers Morgan seems to side with Trump’s way of thinking. He questioned why members of the public were heralding the presenter as a ‘free speech martyr’ following his suspension.

The former Good Morning Britain star claimed on Twitter/X: “Jimmy Kimmel lied about Charlie Kirk’s assassin being MAGA. This caused understandable outrage all over America, prompted TV station owners to say they wouldn’t air him, and he’s now been suspended by his employers. Why is he being heralded as some kind of free speech martyr?”

Colbert is facing his own show ending soon, with CBS deciding to end the programme next year after eight years. Stephen became a household name hosting the satirical news programme The Colbert Report on Comedy Central from 2005 until 2014, before taking over from David Letterman as host of The Late Show on CBS, a subsidiary of Paramount Global.

At the conclusion of the broadcast season in May 2026, CBS announced in July that “The LATE SHOW with STEPHEN COLBERT” would end its legendary run. We will retire the “The LATE SHOW” franchise at that time because we believe Stephen Colbert is unreplaceable.

“We are proud that Stephen called CBS home. He and the broadcast will be remembered in the pantheon of greats that graced late-night television.”

Kneecap blast Donald Trump state visit with foul-mouthed slurs during Wembley gig

On Thursday night, Kneecap performed at Wembley, and Liam hAnnaidh and his band raped about Donald Trump and his state visit.

Belfast rap trio Kneecap slammed Donald Trump’s state visit to the UK – during a rousing gig at Wembley last night.

The band told fans music artists are “filling a void” left by politicians, taking aim at the US President hours after he left the UK for the US following his three-day trip. Mid performance, during a break between songs, one of the band members could be heard saying: “Is Donald Trump in f****** England? For f**** sake.”

A message read, “Starmer welcomed Isaac Herzog to this city like a king last week,” was displayed on the wall before the show in London. Trump, the one who authorized the slaughter, is present.

Mr Starmer met with Israel’s President at Number 10 last week, after which a Downing Street spokesperson described the Doha bombing by Israel as a ‘flagrant violation’, and also called out the ‘manmade famine’ in Gaza.

Kneecap’s performance at Glastonbury in the summer sparked controversy, and led to criticism from fans. Police launched a criminal investigation after they reviewed footage of Kneecap’s set, but eventually decided to take “no further action”.

However, it didn’t cut it for Kneecap at Wembley, where Naoise O Caireallain, who performs under the stage name Moglai Bap, added “release the f****** files,” appearing to quote requests for the Trump administration to release all Jeffrey Epstein investigation documents.

The crowd was then led by Liam Og O hAnnaidh, also known as Mo Chara, in chants of “f*** the Royal Family” and “f*** Keir Starmer” as well.

The evening included a special audio-visual presentation from trip hop collective Massive Attack, followed by a speech from Ben Jamal, the director of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, supported by Irish post-punk band Gurriers and London artist Jelani Blackman.

The group, which also includes JJ O’Dochartaigh (DJ Provai), performed tracks like Grian Chatten, Sick In The Head, and Hood, which are from Fontaines, DC.

O hAnnaidh added in a separate address to the audience that “people like us, people like Massive Attack, and other acts that decide to talk about Palestine.” At the end of the day, all we’re doing is filling a void that politicians aren’t filling.

JD Vance announces ‘new ABC late night host’ after Jimmy Kimmel axe

Jimmy Kimmel was suspended from air indefinitely after his comments about Charlie Kirk in Monday’s opening monologue, and US Vice President JD Vance has revealed the identity of the “new ABC late night host.”

US Vice President JD Vance has made a surprising announcement on X, formerly known as Twitter. He revealed that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will be stepping in to fill the shoes of Jimmy Kimmel on ABC.

The network has yet to officially confirm this news, but Vance dropped the bombshell on Thursday morning. This comes just a day after the sudden cancellation of the comedian’s long-standing late-night programme, Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Jimmy’s show was abruptly axed by the broadcaster following his opening monologue earlier this week, where he mentioned Charlie Kirk.

The VP requested that everyone congratulate @marcorubio, the new host of ABC’s late-night show, in an unanticipated turn of events.

ABC, which is owned by Disney, pulled the plug on Jimmy Kimmel Live! after his comments about the death of right-wing podcaster Charlie Kirk. Specifically, his remarks about the suspected killer and his mockery of Trump’s icy response to questions about his associate’s death, according to the Irish Star.

Charlie Kirk, the host of the podcast Turning Point, was attending the first event of The American Comeback Tour at Utah Valley University when he was shot in the neck. Officials believe the weapon used was a high-powered rifle.

Kirk did not survive his injuries and has since become a martyr for the Republican Party.

The MAGA Gang is frantically trying to characterize this kid who killed Charlie Kirk as anything but one of them and using all means to gain political points from it, according to Jimmy.

He continued, “There was grieving in between the finger-pointing.”

On a human level, the president is taking it seriously, he continued, cutting a clip of Trump being interviewed by the press about the new ballroom when asked how he was holding up after his friend’s death.

Yes, construction is the fourth stage of grief. An adult does not grieve the death of a person he referred to as a friend. Okay, that’s how a four-year-old mourns a goldfish, right? And it didn’t just happen once, Jimmy claimed before airing a second clip of the president talking about the ballroom on Fox News when questioned about how he had heard about Charlie’s passing.

The host continued, “Why are we building a $200 million ballroom in the White House?” Is it possible that he intentionally acts in a way that makes us angry rather than the Epstein list? “The country has been frightened over his sudden dismissal, which has caused fear to surround the right to free speech.”

Despite having no prior television experience aside from making guest appearances on Fox News and other networks, Marco Rubio is rumored to be stepping down as vice president.

However, it is still unknown whether the politician will host his own ABC program.

Joel Moss dead: Hollywood icon who worked with Red Hot Chili Peppers dies at 79

Following a distinguished career that spanned nearly six decades, Joel Moss, a record producer, sound engineer, and mixer, passed away in Saratoga Springs, New York.

Seven-time Grammy-winning producer Joel Moss has died at the age of 79.

Throughout his distinguished career, the Hollywood legend worked on blockbusters like Omen IV: The Awakening and with music legends like Eagles, Little Richard, Johnny Cash, Joe Cocker, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Talking Heads. For producing the cast recording of the musical In the Heights, which premiered on Broadway in 2008, about life in the streets of Manhattan’s Washington Heights neighborhood, he received a Best Musical Show Album award.

Moss passed away on Monday in Saratoga Springs, New York, his family reported today. Moss was described by the relatives as “the biggest mensch in the recording industry who created the best sounds in town,” who refused to name a cause of death.

His career began in Los Angeles when he began working on recordings for recording artists like Little Richard, Joe Cocker, and Johnny Cash at the age of 23. The Record Plant Recording Studios, a recording business that ran the Paramount Pictures scoring stage, was then led by Moss as its executive director and chief engineer.

For Hollywood movies like Fatal Attraction, Omen IV: The Awakening, and South Pacific, Moss was able to provide scores for these projects. For Talking Heads’ iconic documentary, Stop Making Sense, Moss was the first to convert analogue recordings to 24-track digital in the 1980s.

In the 1990s, the actor founded Managra Music Company, a company specializing in jazz and theater compositions, and became associated with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra.

Paying tribute to Moss today, production company Caffe Lena said on Facebook: “It never failed to amaze us that a man who produced records for Johnny Cash, Tony Bennett, The Talking Heads, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and hundreds of others, believed so much in the community of Saratoga Springs and the value of Caffe Lena, that he spent his evenings running our livestream cameras and recording our shows.

Jimmy Kimmel’s future in doubt as huge ABC contract set to expire

Jimmy Kimmel Live ! is currently suspended, and the show’s future is uncertain because the host’s ABC contract is scheduled to expire in a few months.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! has been “suspended indefinitely”, however, fans are worried this is in effect a cancellation as the host’s multi-million dollar contract is set to expire in just a few months.

Jimmy Kimmel’s long-running late-night program was suspended by ABC after the host made contentious remarks about Charlie Kirk’s passing. No permanent decision has been made regarding the suspension’s future, aside from a request that Kimmel apologize to Kirk’s family if he wishes to return to the air. The suspension is currently scheduled to continue “indefinitely.”

However, some media reports claim Kimmel’s $48 million contract with ABC will expire in 2026. The show will end if it is not renewed. According to reports, the network wants to keep him as host of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, but it’s possible they won’t renew his contract or will cancel Jimmy Kimmel Live! altogether.

Kimmel has not yet responded to his comments or the show’s suspension, which aired on Monday (15 September). The television host explained to viewers that the “MAGA gang” were using Kirk’s death to “score political points” during his opening monologue on Monday’s show.

Ben Stiller, Jean Smart, and Wanda Sykes were among the many Hollywood stars who criticized Kimmel’s show, which received backlash and was suspended. Kimmel was attempting to “mislead the American people,” according to Brendan Carr, the Trump-appointed Federal Communications Commission head, and demanded that the program be pulled.

Kirk was passionate about protecting the suspension despite the fact that Stiller, Smart, Sykes, and others have all criticized it as an attack on free speech. He claimed that the Trump administration was in danger of doing so because of left-wing critics.

Writing on X, formerly known as Twitter last year, Kirk said: “Hate speech does not exist legally in America. There’s ugly speech. There’s gross speech. There’s evil speech. And ALL of it is protected by the First Amendment.”

Charlie Kirk

Attorney General Pam Bondi has since stated that those who post “hate speech” will be “shut down,” and that the Trump administration will actively pursue those who violate its terms. On a podcast, Bondi stated, “There’s free speech, and then there’s hate speech.” If you use hate speech, we will absolutely target you and pursue you.

Jimmy Kimmel Live’s suspension staff were reportedly minutes away from airing the show when it was shut down because it occurred so suddenly. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert was canceled by another network, CBS, just months prior to this abrupt stop in filming. According to some, the show was canceled as a result of President Trump’s remarks and a subsequent lawsuit. Trump has also filed legal suits against the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times, both of which have criticized his administration.

The President also stated on Truth Social that NBC should axe Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers’ shows, raising questions for the future of many late-night television programs. He thanked ABC for “finally having the courage to do what needed to be done” and continued, “That leaves Jimmy and Seth on Fake News NBC, two total losers.” They also have terrible reviews. NBC, please! “!

The lone Democrat on the FCC, Anna Gomez, told CNN on Wednesday (17 September) that Kimmel’s show’s suspension was unrelated to hate speech or inciting violence. This administration is increasingly repressing lawful expression because it challenges those in power and represents views that they oppose, not because it glorifies or violates the law.
