Emmerdale’s Michelle Hardwick and co-star wife suffer heartbreaking loss as fans rally round

Away from ITV’s Emmerdale, Michelle Hardwick is married to her wife and the pair have two children together

Emmerdale’s Michelle Hardwick has been flooded with support after sharing some heartbreaking news.

The actress joined the long-running ITV soap back in 2012, playing village vet Vanessa, half-sister of Tracy Metcalfe’s (Amy Walsh). And it’s fair to say she has been involved in several big storylines over the years.

Away from the soap, Michelle is loved-up with her wife, Kate Brooks, whom she met on Emmerdale. Kate is a talented TV executive who previously worked as a series producer on Emmerdale before being appointed as the producer of Coronation Street in 2024.

Michelle and Kate started dating shortly after Michelle split from her first wife in 2017. Fast forward to 2019, and the beloved couple got married at a stunning venue in Memphis.

The pair also has two children, a son named Edward “Teddy” Peter Brooks, born in 2020, and a daughter named Betty Brooks, born in November 2022.

However, on Tuesday (January 6) Michelle revealed that the family have been hit with heartbreak following the death of their four-legged family member. Taking to Instagram, Michelle shared a photo of her pup, Fred, and confirmed some tragic news.

Lorraine Kelly reveals ‘very different’ side to her in ’emotional’ move away from ITV

Lorraine Kelly, the presenter of ITV, opened up about her most recent project while hosting her morning show and explained why fans will be able to see her “very different” side.

Lorraine Kelly has said she became “very emotional” while filming her new Channel 4 show. In the three-part documentary, the 66-year-old ditches the ITV studio for a breathtaking adventure in Norway.

From fishing for cod, to goat massages and swimming in icy waters, Lorraine shows fans her more adventurous side as she throws herself into the local culture.

The presenter explained why one of her show’s highlights caused her to feel particularly emotional.

My dad would have been proud to have caught a large cod on my first try, she said. And watching sea eagles closely affected my emotional state.

I enjoyed getting to know the Sami people and their customs. And yes, I’ve gotten goat massage all the time!

Fans will see her in a “very different” way, according to Lorraine, who revealed how the show differs from her morning chat show.

She added to Closer Magazine, “It’s just me, no make-up, hair all over the place, and occasionally a little sweary!”

I’ve always wanted to do a travel show, so I finally had to jump in the cold water and help muck out a farm.

Lorraine will meet people along her travels who are preserving the rich history of Norway through folktales and Nordic tales, and she will also get a chance to taste the regional produce and specialties.

The TV personality plans to travel north along the coast to experience the beauty of the region’s natural ecosystem, including whales and eagles, in hopes that her journey will culminate with an aurora borealis spectacle.

Lorraine’s new venture comes as her ITV show’s major overhaul approaches. The program will air fewer episodes and be shorter, as part of a scheduling change.

The shake-up also impacts other morning shows, with Good Morning Britain extended by 30 minutes and Loose Women continuing on a seasonal basis without a live audience.

Reflecting on the changes, Lorraine previously told Woman magazine: “It’s a different world we live in, isn’t it?

Because I believe in reality, I was aware of the need for adjustments and reductions. Television must cut its own slack in every department because there are now so many more outlets. It’s not what it once was.

The mother-of-one maintains optimism about what the future holds despite the restructuring.

Who knows what will happen in six months, she said, “This is just another change.” They might want to expand, but they might not. Who is aware?

We just let it go and see what happens because I love my job and I love working with these incredible people. Nothing can ever remain motionless.

Meanwhile, Lorraine has turned her talents to writing in recent years, releasing her debut novel, The Island Swimmer, in 2024. In recent interviews, she has confirmed that more writing projects are on the way. Over the festive period, she also stood in for Jeremy Vine to present his BBC Radio 2 show.

Leigh-Anne Pinnock left ‘heartbroken’ after ‘losing trust’ in her relationship

The former Little Mix star has revealed that her husband visited therapy after “betraying” her and explained how difficult it was to “lose trust” in her relationship.

Leigh-Anne Pinnock has opened up about how “heartbroken” she was after “losing trust” in her relationship, following a “betrayal” from her husband, Andre Gray.

The former Little Mix star married footballer Andre in 2023 and shares two twin children with him, but has now admitted that things in their relationship haven’t always been rosy. Instead, Andre, who “wanted to change”, went to therapy so that they could work on their romance.

Talking to Paloma Faith on her Mad Sad Bad podcast, Leigh-Anne said she and Andre “went through a weird time” where he “hurt” her. She said: “I went through a bit of a weird time with my husband actually and I think that sort of not being totally honest and losing trust and that kind of betrayal – I think like heartbreak is wild.

“It’s awful and especially someone that you’re so madly in love with and that they can hurt you.” She added that Andre had moved abroad to Greece to play for Aris Thessaloniki but realised he was being “selfish” and went to therapy to change.

Leigh-Anne said, “I think that person needs to want to change, and he did.” And I believe that you can go through a relationship if the other party isn’t willing to.

They must carry out the work, and they must turn things around because, once more, it’s not your turn. He attended therapy, and I believe that for us, it was the best thing.

He began playing abroad, and he realized that everything he was doing was not how a relationship should work, because it was more leisurely. It is egotistical.

Leigh-Anne has previously criticized Andre for “breaking her heart.” She shared in a video that was uploaded to TikTok in June 2024 that she learned that he had committed a crime that she found heartbreaking. She continued, “She learned the power of forgiveness,” in a conversation with Paloma.

I was taught the power of pardon, she said. The person who broke my heart went above and beyond to make a change for me because he is still there. It makes it worthwhile, in my opinion, if you can actually get to the other side and survive.

“Some people might say, “Oops, why are you still with them,” Or why do you continue to give them a chance? I suppose that can be seen as a weakness and putting your own needs before others, but I believe you alone are capable of discerning what is truly yours.

She concluded by stating that forgiveness for someone can be “healing” and that it is acceptable. According to Leigh-Anne, it is acceptable to give someone another chance, but it is not acceptable to let someone abuse you.

Make sure you have those barriers in place so you can protect yourself and determine when enough is enough. Being hurt helps to sort of make that armor up, like, “I’m not going through that again.” Don’t think of forgiveness as a weak action; it can be very healing and effective.

Noel Gallagher drops hint about Oasis’ next move weeks after reunion tour

Noel Gallagher, the band’s front man, has stated that he would be honored to write the song for the upcoming Bond movie and that he would be interested in playing a “Mancunian villain.”

Noel Gallagher says he would like to play a villain in the next 007 film and would happily write the next Bond song if asked.

The Oasis rocker, 58, also said that any track for the next instalment should be performed by a British artist. Asked how he would respond if Barbara Broccoli phoned him up, Gallagher said: “I’d say ‘all right Babs’… for Oasis to do it?

“Alright, yes, that would be an honor, I know. I believe Brits should handle those things, not Yanks, as you may well know.

In response to rumors that the band was on Amazon’s wishlist, he also stated that he had not been asked. He joked on TalkSport with Andy Goldstein that he would be interested in playing the role of a “Mancunian villain” in the movie, though.

Noel has previously stated that he wanted to write a Bond song. He once said, “I’ve written a few Bond theme songs.”

“I would have to adjust the title accordingly because they don’t have very Bond-like titles. I listened to the most recent one and said, “F***ing hell man, that’d make a f***ing great Bond theme.”

Lead guitarist Noel recently wrapped up the highly anticipated Oasis Live 25 reunion world tour alongside brother Liam, 53, and their bandmates.

It came almost 15 years after the band’s dramatic breakup as a result of a conflict between the siblings. Who will play the iconic secret agent and who will be in charge of the 007 theme song is yet to be announced for the film.

Artists who have lent their voices to the blockbusters in recent years include Adele with Skyfall (2012), Billie Eilish with No Time To Die (2020) and Madonna with Die Another Day (2002). Broccoli and fellow producer Michael G Wilson have stepped away after handing over creative control to Amazon MGM studios as part of a lucrative deal, with the pair remaining as co-owners of the franchise.

Since the first 007 movie, Dr. No, in 1962, members of the Broccoli family had been in charge of the official franchise on their own or through a partnership with others.

Steven Knight, a 65-year-old British screenwriter, made the announcement in August that the next movie would be written.

Oasis is credited with producing songs like Wonderwall, Live Forever, Shakermaker, and Half the World Away.

I’m A Celeb winner Angry Ginge lands first post-jungle job with A-List stars

Later this year, Angry Ginge from I’m a celeb will be honored at the BRIT Awards, and he may even honor his idol Taylor Swift.

I’m A Celeb’s Angry Ginge will swap eating animals’ bits for BRITs’ glitz and could even give an award to his idol Taylor Swift.

The 24-year-old YouTuber, who revealed in the jungle that he is a Swiftie fan, will receive an award at the BRITs ceremony the following month. If Swift is nominated for best international artist, Ginge might hand it to her.

His huge fanbase broke voting records last month when he won I’m a Celeb. ITV bosses hope his fans will also want to see the King of the Jungle at the BRITs. The ceremony is moving to Manchester for the first time in the awards’ almost 50-year history.

Ginge, who supports Manchester United, was a star with local connections who was raised in Eccles, Salford, and ITV is delighted to land him.

Organisers “jumped at the chance to sign up Ginge, a proud local lad who obviously had a bad time in the jungle,” according to a show source. The executives there are so passionate about him because of his heroics in Down Under, and they sincerely want to keep working with him.

Ginge “brings with him a sizable audience,” which awards managers adore, so they jumped at the chance to give him an award. When he leaves, the place will be in chaos.

Ginge was at London’s Alexandra Palace at the weekend to cheer on his friend Luke Littler to a second PDC world darts title.

Comedian Jack Whitehall, who studied at Manchester University, is hosting the awards for the sixth time. They are on February 28 at the Co-op Live arena.

It feels like a true full circle moment to return to host this historic night at the Co-op Live, a venue that is only a stone’s throw from the comedy club where I performed my first 10-minute set in all those years ago, according to Jack.

“I’m hoping I get a few more laughs than I did that night.” I’m in a rush.

Jesy Nelson demands urgent change after twins’ diagnosis as Health Secretary steps in

Health Secretary Wes Streeting has vowed to look into newborn screening for the condition after Jesy Nelson revealed the devastating news that her twins have spinal muscular atrophy.

Wes Streeting has vowed to look into singer Jesy Nelson’s call for newborn screening for a rare condition that leaves babies paralysed.

The Health Secretary responded to the former Little Mix singer’s revelation on Sunday that her twin babies, Ocean Jade and Story Monroe Nelson-Foster, had been diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). Families of infants left paralysed are demanding the Government adds a £5 blood test for the condition, previously known as “floppy baby syndrome”, to the newborn heel prick test.

Gene therapies can now prevent newborns with SMA being left paralysed but only if administered at birth before irreversible nerve damage has occurred. Speaking to ITV News, Mr Streeting said: “My heart goes out to Jesy Nelson and I think the way she has spoken about what must be an unimaginably frightening situation has been commendable.

She is correct in saying that she has asked us to improve our screening.

The Mirror revealed in 2024 that around one baby every week is being left paralysed while the NHS delays a simple birth check for SMA. Every week that goes by untreated after birth sees the permanent death of nerves. Jesy, 34, shared her family’s ordeal in an Instagram video, describing “the most gruelling three/four months and endless appointments” leading to the diagnosis.

She said that heel pricks are all it takes to prevent the majority of this, which can be prevented from birth. There are many countries where it is possible to test a child’s ability with just a simple heel prick, but this is not in this country.

It literally can save their legs, so many body parts, and effectively prevent their deaths.

If babies do not have an older sibling with SMA they are currently usually diagnosed in England after parents repeatedly present to the NHS to report that their baby is not lifting its head or moving. Dozens of countries around the world added the SMA test to newborn screening in recent years.

The UK Screening Committee is currently planning a pilot which will see babies screened for SMA in some parts of England but not others. National rollout could take years. In contrast, NHS Scotland has already rolled out SMA screening to all babies.

Mr. Streeting continued, “Jesy Nelson is right to criticize and challenge the length of the process, and there is screening available.” And because of this, I’m determined to use genomic medicine much more effectively than just screening for SMA.
