Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson admits he’s ‘not a big therapy guy’ after mental health battle

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has acknowledged that he felt like Mark Kerr in his most vulnerable performance to date after giving his most recent one.

Former WWE star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has admitted that he’s “not a big therapy guy”, despite suffering from several severe bouts of depression. The 53-year-old actor found the pressure of making Hollywood blockbusters particularly difficult to deal with.

But ahead of his upcoming biopic, the wrestler has opened up about the similarities between him and his troubled character Mark Kerr. The Smashing Machine delves into the life of former wrestler and MMA fighter Kerr, who battled addiction problems and experienced multiple overdoses.

The critically acclaimed movie sees Johnson portray Kerr, whose promising career was derailed by his opioid addiction. Kerr, 56, is now in recovery and on a mission to inspire others to fight their demons and free themselves from addiction.

Johnson himself inducted him in the UFC Hall of Fame in 2025 with a moving performance. However, the actor, who admits he’s always preferred to “bottle s*** up,” discovered that playing the lead character in the new film had old wounds.

Speaking to the Guardian, Johnson revealed: “I’m not a big therapy guy. I’ve had some great conversations with therapists but it’s not the thing I run to. I bottle s*** up inside me, like a lot of guys, which I recognise is not the healthiest thing to do.

Then I said, “Wait, I can still do what I love to do, acting. What if, however, it contains something deeper and more meaningful for me?

Johnson, the wrestler who played Kerr, admitted that he had been wanting to do something more brutal for a while and that the two wrestlers shared traits. He acknowledged that he felt free from the pressure of the box office and that he felt “comfortable with the challenge of having to live up to an image”.

The Smashing Machine was “so liberating” despite his passion for “making the Jumanjis and Moanas”. Johnson was pleased that the “process” was being prioritized over the “money” issue.

Johnson, a Fast & Furious star, previously discussed his mental health issues on The Pivot Podcast. He had his first encounter with depression when he left school, revealing: “At that time… I simply knew I didn’t want to be there because I didn’t know what depression was or what mental health was.

Speaking to former NFL stars Ryan Clark, Fred Taylor and Channing Crowder, he shared aspects of his mental-health journey and the “three bouts of depression” he has faced. He experienced it again when he divorced his first wife, Dany Garcia in 2008, and then again in 2017.

He explained to the hosts, “Fortunately at that time, I had some friends on whom to lean on and say, “Hey, I’m feeling a little wobbly now, have a little struggle happening, I’m seeing a little gray and not the blue.”

His mother also had her own experiences with depression. In a 2019 interview with the Express, he revealed he had saved his mum from a suicide attempt as she stepped onto a freeway in Nashville when he was just 15.

He responded, “I grabbed her and placed her back on the side of the road that was gravel.” We both recovered, but we must always make an effort to watch other people when they are hurt. We must remind them that they are not the only ones who have to face it.

Chris Robshaw ‘wants fans to think he’s been hit by Strictly curse’ with partner Nadiya

Rugby star Chris Robshaw is welcoming rumors of an affair ahead of his first live performance with stunning Nadiya Bychkova, but the Strictly curse has no mercy when it comes to wrecking relationships.

Rugby ace Chris Robshaw has sensationally admitted that he wants viewers to think his marriage will fall victim to the ‘Strictly curse’. The sportsman, who has been partnered with stunning Ukrainian dancer Nadiya Bychkova, is happily married to opera singer Camilla Kerslake.

In Provence, France, the couple tied the knot in 2012. The couple have since welcomed two sons and are now parents.

Wilding, age 4, was born in May 2021. Hunter, the couple’s youngest son, turned 13 months old when he arrived in August of 2024.

Chris is not even remotely concerned about the potential danger of his marriage, despite the fact that the curse of Strictly is known to strike indiscriminately. He has since stated that he would be thrilled if Nadiya’s relationship with him sparked rumors of an affair.

In an interview with the Sun, he explained: “Surely if people think there’s something going on between us, we must be doing something right.”

He thinks he and Nadiya have “arrived to create a sense of chemistry for the show” if their routines are sufficiently steamy. Camilla and I are solid, she’s incredibly supportive, and we have a lot of faith in our marriage, he continued. My family is everything.

But he has made an effort to include Camilla in rehearsals, with a video shared on Instagram on Sunday showing Nadiya holding his baby son, Hunter. Nadiya was seen giving Camilla a one-to-one training session, as well as a group rehearsal with the whole family.

Camilla has publicly expressed her full support for her husband’s Strictly debut, posting pictures of how the family managed to survive a terrifying stalking ordeal on Instagram. She thanked the press for “handling a very difficult situation with such sensitivity,” saying that they wouldn’t allow it to “define” them.

She stated, “We won’t be defining ourselves; we’ll be focusing on our family and the exciting journey that Strictly will lead us on.” I’m not sure if you’re into sequins and spray tans, but I’m already very excited about them.

Let’s hope our boy receives more snake hips than he does hip replacement! If you see us having fun on social media, be aware that we want to experience SCD with you in addition to the joy, laughter, and magic of it.

We fully embrace the fact that this is our current happy place right now. From the bottom of our hearts, we once more thank you for uplifting us and entrusting us with love. “Bring on the sequins”!

It seems that thankfully, the famous curse will be kept at bay in this instance, but there is definitive evidence that the intense training and close quarters of the show has left a trail of ruined relationships in its wake. Famous examples include comedian Seann Walsh, who was snapped kissing his partner Katya Jones in 2018, despite both being involved with others at the time.

Katya and Neil Jones, a fellow Strictly professional, were married at the time. Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton confirmed their romance after the series, despite making no mention of any romantic ties while the show was being made available.

After making an appearance on Strictly with Kristina Rihanoff, with whom he now has a daughter, Ben Cohen’s 11-year marriage to Abby came to an end. He also refuted the claims that his marriage was canceled because of his ties to Kristina.

Dianne Buswell and Joe Sugg have revealed that they’re expecting their first child together, after meeting on Strictly back in 2018. Rachel Riley and Pasha Kovalev, who were matched on the programme in 2013, are also now raising two children after her marriage ended shortly after her Strictly stint.

MasterChef judge John Torode brushes off axe as he gets cooking while final airs

Before the final episode of the BBC show’s most recent series premiere, MasterChef host John Torode appeared to be having a quiet evening with his wife Lisa Faulkner.

Presenter John Torode was seen cooking a meal for his wife Lisa Faulkner in a video shared by her shortly before the final of MasterChef’s latest series aired earlier tonight. The episode saw the newest winner of the BBC show unveiled.

Shortly before the final was broadcast this evening, John’s wife Lisa, 53, shared footage of him in the kitchen with her followers. The video, shared on Instagram, showed John, 60, cooking a meal as they enjoyed an evening together.

Lisa posed the question, “What are you making?” I’m making a version of Pad Thai, John said. In the video that was posted tonight, he continued, “Crispy pork belly and chilli sauce, followed by seafood curry and rice.”

As John prepared the meal, fans were then shown some of the food, with Lisa saying, “Oh my!” as she looked into the pot! She told her husband, “Love you, love you,” while turning the camera back. Then, John said, “Love you.

The latest series of MasterChef launched last month with John and Gregg Wallace, 60, as the judges. Gregg is said to have ‘silently disappeared’ during this week’s episodes.

Gregg announced last year that he would leave the show as a result of a misconduct investigation. He claimed, “It is entirely false that he engages in sexual harassment harassment,” as the time reported via a lawyer.

Then, earlier this year, production company Banijay said that Gregg’s position on the show had become “untenable” after allegations of inappropriate behaviour were upheld. Gregg, who apologised for “some” of his humour and language, had said in advance that the review “exonerates” him of “all the serious allegations which made headlines last year and finds [him] primarily guilty of inappropriate language between 2005 and 2018.”

Additionally, it was previously reported that John would not be able to renew his MasterChef contract. According to Bijay, a firm’s investigation into his Gregg’s behavior “substantiated an accusation of highly offensive racist language against” his co-host John.

The BBC said John denied the allegation and he previously told fans in a statement: “I have no recollection of what I’m accused of.” John also said at the time: “Celebrity MasterChef, which I recently filmed with Grace Dent along with two fantastic Christmas specials will be my last.”

Earlier this month, it was announced that Grace and Anna Haugh will be the next MasterChef hosts. Chef Anna had already replaced Gregg at the end of the latest series, whilst food critic Grace was unveiled last year as a judge with John on the next series of Celebrity MasterChef.

Beckham family feud intensifies as Brooklyn brutally snubs sister Harper’s huge move

As the youngest of the family opens her own Instagram account, Brooklyn Beckham has intensified their feud by making an appearance to criticize his little sister’s social media debut.

Teenager Harper Beckham has been dragged full force into the family’s feud with eldest son Brooklyn, if her brand new Instagram account is anything to go by. The 14-year-old has joined the social media platform with a private account, which will be managed by her parents.

And while Harper’s posts are still accessible to the general public, her entire family has followed her as she rises to fame. She has been prominently featured on her family’s accounts, with photos of her celebrating lavish vacations and milestone milestones appearing on her parents’ and brother’s pages.

Harper, who is David and Victoria’s only daughter, has 31 followers on her private account and follows 63 profiles. Her brothers Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 20, follow her, as do her parents and Cruz’s girlfriend, Jackie Apostel, 30. But it appears her big brother Brooklyn, 26, has so far snubbed his sister’s social media debut, along with his wife Nicola Peltz.

Yours truly < 3 Your favorite blonde, according to Harper's bio. LDN / L. A. / MIAMI". Fans were able to see a glimpse of Victoria, the fashion designer, who is also the verified account, when she shared one of her stories with her 33 million followers.

Harper can be seen yelling along with her famous mother in the repost. Victoria added “Kisses xx @harperbeckham” to the post on her own page.

But Brooklyn’s apparent snub of his little sister’s social media is just the latest attempt to distance himself entirely from his family. On Monday (22 September), almost all of the Beckhams took to Instagram to share sweet tributes to Finlay, the son of Victoria Beckham’s sister, as he celebrated his 21st birthday.

Happy birthday, Victoria wrote in an old photo of her nephew. We love you!!”! Romao and Maria were both photographed as children, in line with Romao. He wished you a happy birthday, broskie.

Cruz and his cousin are also seen on Facebook. They looked adorable in dress shirts and bowties, with the youngest Beckham boy adding “Happy Birthday” below.

Brooklyn’s celebration of his cousin’s big birthday was unavoidable, though. And his cousin’s birthday is not his first significant family birthday.

Brooklyn and Romeo were the only Beckhams who didn’t turn up for his birthday celebrations earlier this month, and he was the only one to do so. Despite being in London at the time, the oldest Beckham child snubbed his father’s celebrations for his 50th birthday earlier this year and made no public remarks about his knighthood.

The move publicise Harper’s private Instagram account comes just before Victoria’s upcoming Netflix docu-series, in which she will share intimate details of her life. Much like her husband David’s three-parter, released in 2023, Posh Spice has given fans an insight into her own life.

Titled simply Victoria Beckham, the Netflix series will include clips of family life for the Beckhams, showing Harper and their other children onscreen. As Harper still lives at home, she naturally appears more in the show, as it follows the ups and downs of Victoria’s personal and professional life.

A heartfelt Victoria discusses the debt her business has previously held, confessing, “I want my kids and David to be proud of me.” I won’t let it pass through my fingers once more because it has taken so long to get to this point.

When David assured his wife that even if she could “make a cheese and ham toastie,” Victoria humorously responded, “Let’s be honest, I couldn’t make a cheese sandwich very well.”

JK Rowling bizarrely reacts to Emma Watson’s olive branch comments amid fallout

Emma Watson’s comments, as J.K. Rowling claimed she still loved the author despite having very different viewpoints, were scorned by J.K. Rowling.

JK Rowling has responded to Emma Watson after the actress seemingly offered an olive branch to end their feud. Watson, 35, rose to fame as Hermione Granger in the on-screen adaptions of Rowling’s Harry Potter books.

But the pair have had an on-going fallout in recent years with Watson fiercely disagreeing with the 60-year-old authors views on the transgender community. Since 2019, Rowling has been very vocal about her beliefs when it comes to the topic, with many of her Twitter/X posts being described as transphobic.

A number of the cast members of the well-known movies have distanced themselves from the director as a result of her remarks. Watson previously said on social media that “trans people are who they say they are and deserve to live their lives without being constantly questioned or told that they are not who they say they are.”

Rowling said she would never forgive them because of the criticism and backlash the cast members caused. Watson has admittedly having a negative outlook on things, but it appears she has at least offered to help.

Watson recently stated in an interview with the On Purpose With Jay Shetty podcast that she will always “cherish” Rowling’s past. I really don’t think that having that experience and having those feelings and opinions don’t make me feel bad about Jo and the people I’ve had personal experiences with,” she said.

“I will never think that one contradicts the other, and that my personal experience with that person is unheard and valued.” These things simply don’t fit the definition of either or.

I believe that I have a deep desire to love those who disagree with my feelings and to continue to love those who don’t necessarily share my opinion.

And she continued, “A conversation was never made possible, which is what I was most upset with.” However, it seems like something could possibly occur in the future.

Rowling reshared a post on social media while not directly mentioning the comments. A satirist who went by the name Intel Lady posted a video of the latter posing as Watson in the clip.

The mockup said, “Of course, I will never forget the opportunity she gave me when it comes to my relationship with Jo,” according to the mockup. She recognized the significance of my presence and knew she had to incorporate me into her creative vision.

She continued, “I’ll be grateful forever. She altered my life’s course completely, and I’ll never forget that.] But I also stand shoulder to shoulder with those who hate her and wish the worst for her in their lives.

“Those seemingly incompatible two [views] can exist at the same time, which is why I love this incredibly diverse world that we live in.”

And Rowling shared the clip with the caption: “I’m already missing @intel_lady’s Angela Rayner, but I’m here for ALL the spoofs.”

Stalker jailed for Katie Piper acid attack making first bid for freedom

After organizing for the Loose Women actress to receive sulphuric acid, the possessive and domineer Daniel Lynch has completed his minimum 16-year term.

The stalker who arranged for acid to be thrown in Katie Piper’s face is making his first bid for parole with a rare three-day hearing.

Daniel Lynch, 49, was imprisoned for life in 2009 for organizing “pure, calculated and deliberate evil.” However, after serving his minimum of 16 years in office, the violent and obstinate rapist will now be considered for release for the first time.

After a fourth delay lasting two years, a new hearing has been set for March next year. Katie’s victim impact statement is expected to be read at the hearing but it is not known if she will attend. Loose Women star Katie was just 24 in March 2008 when Lynch plotted the acid attack that left her face severely burned in March 2008.

She said two years ago that she wanted to release him, and she is now 41 and a mother-of-two. I turned 40 this year, Katie said. In ten years, will I pass away? Actually, I’m not sure. I’ll be free of the attackers. Will they murder me? I’m not sure”.

When she was read to the court, she said, “It felt like I was burning in hell when the acid was thrown at me.” It was a torturous, unrecognisable pain that was unrecognisable. I have lost my dignity, my job, my spirit, my body, my appearance, and my future. the list goes on.

I have an empty shell, all I have. I’ve passed away that will never be able to recover. There is no such thing as death. She appeared on a number of TV shows, including a documentary about the impact of the attack in 2009, and Strictly Come Dancing in 2018, but she has since rebuilt her life.

After suffering horrific burns in the attack, Katie needed 400 operations to rebuild her life. She competed in Strictly Come Dancing in 2018 and appeared on TV in 2018, including a documentary about the impact of the attack.

After being found guilty of rape, having been convicted of GBH, and having admitted ABH, Lynch was sentenced to life in London’s Wood Green crown court in March 2009.

Stefan Sylvestre, then 19, who threw the acid, was given a life sentence with a minimum of six years after he admitted GBH. He was released in 2018.

The victim had a face that was unmatched in beauty, according to Judge Nicholas Browne, QC. The face of pure evil is yours, Danny Lynch, and Stefan Sylvestre.

In February 2008, Lynch and Katie started dating, but he attacked and abused her in a hotel. He was on the phone when Sylvestre threw sulphuric acid in Katie’s face in a street in Golders Green, North London, in March 2008 after she finished it and called her.

The Secretary of State for Justice referred Daniel Lynch’s parole review to the Parole Board, according to a spokesperson for the Parole Board, and it is proceeding according to law.

“Parole Board decisions solely focus on the risk a prisoner poses to the public if released, and whether that risk can be managed in the community. A panel will examine a wide range of evidence carefully, including details of the original crime and any changes in behavior, as well as the harm done and the harm suffered by the victims as a result of the crime.
