Prince Harry and Meghan Markle offered sweet olive branch by King Charles

King Charles has extended a sweet olive branch to his son, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, following reports that tensions between the family have started to thaw out

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been offered an olive branch by King Charles. In recent years, tensions between the royals had been brewing following Harry and Meghan’s decision to step down as senior working Royals in 2020.

In January of 2020, Harry, 41, and Meghan, 44, announced that they intended to step back as working Royals and live a more financially independent lifestyle in North America and Canada. At the time, they stated that they had hoped to continue working in support of his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.

The following year, in February, it was announced that the Duke and Duchess would no longer be working members of The Royal Family but would remain “much-loved” members of the House of Windsor. But tensions started to brew when the Sussexes spoke to Oprah Winfrey about their lives inside the Palace, and spoke about alleged racist comments prior to the birth of their firstborn, Prince Archie.

But in recent years, these tensions have started to wind down after Harry jetted into the UK just hours after he discovered his father was battling cancer. Since then, the Duke and King have met on a handful of occasions, with the most recent being just last month, when the pair enjoyed tea together at Clarence House.

Now, the Mirror can reveal the King’s sweet olive branch to the Sussexes. As most families do, the King has pictures of his relatives scattered across his residences, but one sign has shown he’s keen to build bridges with Harry and Meghan.

The Mirror’s exclusive pictures reveal that Charles, 76, has carefully chosen to display pictures of the Sussexes throughout his official Northern Irish residence, Hillsborough Castle, mainly in the State Drawing Room. But there are no pictures of his brother, Prince Andrew, who stepped down from working Royal life in January 2022, due to his association with convicted paedophile, Jeffrey Epstein.

A source told us: “Royal Historic Palaces make decisions on what they believe to be appropriate. They are also guided by members of The Royal Family, but the decision over what pictures of the family to use ultimately lies with the King”.

Following the King and Harry’s recent reunion, it was reported that the meeting was “distinctly formal”, with the Duke said to have been left feeling like an “official visitor”. However, a spokesperson for the Duke quickly dismissed this, saying: “Recent reporting of The Duke’s view of the tone of the meeting is categorically false.

” The quotes attributed to him are pure invention fed, one can only assume, by sources intent on sabotaging any reconciliation between father and son. Presumably, those same sources have also chosen to disclose that gifts were exchanged.

“While we would have preferred such details to remain private, for the sake of clarity, we can confirm that a framed photograph was handed over, however, the image did not contain the Duke and Duchess”.

Although Hillsborough Castle is the official royal residence in Northern Ireland, the estate has been managed by Historic Royal Palaces since April 2014 and is open to paying members of the public. Situated just 20 minutes outside of Belfast, it has been the scene of some of the most historic moments.

These include the signing of the Anglo-Irish Agreement on November 15, 1985, as well as a visit from President George W. Bush in 2003. Just seven years later, the house was used by then Prime Minister Gordon Brown, members of the Democratic Union Party, Sinn Féin and the Irish Taoiseach Brian Cowen to discuss the crisis over Northern Ireland policing.

On September 13, 2022, just days after the death of his mother, King Charles was left livid while at the castle, signing a visitors ‘ book, he realised he’d written the wrong date. But things became more awkward when his pen started to look, causing the King to fume: “Oh God, I hate this]pen!]”

A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess declined to comment. Buckingham Palace and Historical Royal Palaces were approached by the Mirror.

Armed with a light enamel interior that facilitates easier cleaning, this cast iron pot has been designed to fit seamlessly inside the oven, on the hob, induction cooktop, or under the grill. For cheaper alternatives, Amazon offers the Overmont 24cm/4.2L Enamelled Cast Iron Round Casserole Pot with Lid for £35.49, or Dunelm stocks the Cast Iron Casserole Dish for the equally affordable price of £38.

Meanwhile, shoppers can’t stop raving about this Le Creuset icon, with 5-star reviews pouring in. One thrilled buyer beams: “I recently purchased the Le Creuset 28cm Dutch Oven, and I couldn’t be more impressed. The delivery was excellent, fast, secure, and the item was incredibly well-packaged, arriving in perfect condition. This Dutch oven is truly a universal piece of cookware. It’s perfect for everything from slow-cooked stews, curries, and soups to baking crusty bread or roasting a chicken. I’ve already used it to braise beef short ribs, make a rich tomato-based sauce, and even tried no-knead bread, each time, the results were fantastic. The even heat distribution and heat retention are unmatched.”

They add: “It works flawlessly on both the stovetop and in the oven, and the enamel interior means food doesn’t stick easily, making it ideal for browning meats before simmering. The 28cm size is generous enough to feed a family or meal prep in batches, without being unwieldy or difficult to handle.”

More praise comes from this shopper who enthuses: “It’s a Le Creuset! Perfect casserole dish for slow cooking, “mijoter, mariner”, etc. It’s a real pleasure to use this cocotte, very easy to clean! Look beautiful on the stove and on the table directly! Highly recommended.”

And a third chimes in: “This Le Creuset casserole dish is excellent in terms of build quality, heat retention, and even cooking performance. The enameled cast iron feels durable, and it’s perfect for slow cooking, stews, and baking. The lid fits snugly, keeping moisture and flavors locked in. However, it is quite heavy, which might make handling a bit difficult, especially when full. Overall, it’s a high-quality cookware piece that enhances the cooking experience, but be mindful of the weight if that’s a concern.”

Though one shopper provides a balanced argument, writing: “There’s a reason it isn’t cheap. The quality is great, fantastic colour, including on the bottom. The cook quality is great and retains heat so you can turn off the heat and let it finish off by itself. It is a little heavy.”

Katie Price’s ex Dane Bowers reveals reason for split as one thing she did ‘bothered’ him

At the height of her glamour modeling career, Katie Price admitted to being “obsessed” with singer Dane Bowers after splitting with her after dating for two years.

Katie Price’s ex boyfriend Dane Bowers has revealed he was to blame for their split as he shared his tipping point. The former glamour model, 47, is now loved up with reality star JJ Slater, but has a string of famous exes.

She has been married three times – to Peter Andre, Alex Reid and Kieran Hayler – but branded Dane the “love of her life”. The pair only dated for two years back in 1998 but the mum-of-five clearly holds a special place in her heart for the R&B singer.

Katie and Dane dated at the height of her modelling fame as she was catapulted into the spotlight, but it came at a price. She met Dane at the Wild Wild West film premiere and her mum Amy admitted she was “all in from the word go”.

However, Dane was “bothered” by Katie’s famed work behind closed doors. Dane remarked to The Shizzio Show in response to their romance, “It was really me being a bit of a d**k in terms of insecurities.”

I thought she was acting strangely as our relationship developed. She dressed up as a model in style. She had stopped performing topless. Dane continued, “After we had an argument, she said she had been asked to do this shoot, which I believe was Topless Calendar, but I said, “You said you’re not going to do that again.”

She responded, “Well, I’m going to do it.” I said, “If I tell you to do that, we can’t be together.” And she attempted to call my bluff. She succeeded. And I basically said, “Well, no, f**k off.”

Which was incorrect because she was employed there. And I was aware of her position. Katie revealed the breakdown of her romance with Dane during her Celebrity Big Brother appearance in 2015.

She told the other housemates, “It was] the first time my heart got properly broken,” adding that she degraded herself because “if he said jump, I would say how high.”

She later said, “He hurt me so much.” Katie fought valiantly to get him back, even attempting an overdose once to pique his interest.

Despite the fact that the pop star is already married to David Beckham, Katie had mistakenly convinced herself that Dane had developed a crush on her after they collaborated on the album Out of Your Mind in August 2000.

She said on Loose Women: “Lots of people try and do things make their exes jealous. But at the end of the day they’ve seen what you’re really like, so if you try and look different or go with their mates if they don’t want to know you they don’t want to know you.

You do these things for attention when you say, “You stupidly want your ex, Dane Bowers, back, and stupidly I took an overdose to get him back. I was young and naive, and if anyone was speaking to me, just don’t do it because it is a huge thing and doesn’t work.

“He worked with Victoria Beckham and I thought something was going on, I thought, is he obsessed with her? It ended up being her friend so my paranoia was right.”

Piers Morgan reveals Paul O’Grady was BGT’s original host but lost role for sour reason

Comedian and TV star Paul O’Grady was set to be the host of Britain’s Got Talent and even have the show named after him until things got very heated behind the scenes

Former Britain’s Got Talent judge Piers Morgan has revealed Paul O’Grady was meant to be the host for the hit talent show, until things went very wrong. The controversial broadcaster was part of the original line up on Simon Cowell’s talent show back in 2007.

Music mogul Simon was inspired by former talent shows including Opportunity Knocks and New Faces as he wanted to create a competition for people of any age and location to enter. He wanted a range of personalities on the judging panel with him, and first settled on Piers and Fern Britton.

Simon set his sights on comedian Paul as host and even planned to name the show, Paul O’Grady’s Got Talent. He met with Piers for lunch in Kensington, London to get him on board.

Piers admitted: “I owe him a lot actually because I would not have had any career in America without him. He has been great for me. He said ‘I am going to bring back an old all-round talent show like New Faces, Opportunity Knocks and The Gong Show in America. It can be any talent’.”

The broadcaster explained: “We did a pilot at ITV. Paul O’Grady was the host. The judging panel was Simon Cowell, me, and Fern Britton. It was about to be greenlit as a prime-time ITV show.”

Piers said he was ready “to get back in the game” but things quickly took a turn and the production was halted. He said: “Then Paul O’Grady had a massive falling out with ITV, told them to shove it and went to Channel 4.”

At the time, the Paul O’Grady Show moved over to Channel 4 and ITV stopped him being able to rent their studios. Paul decided to refuse all work with the network following the row.

He explained years later: “I did the pilot for Britain’s Got Talent – which was originally going to be called Paul O’Grady’s Got Talent. But I told the producers they were having a joke if they thought I would front a show with that title.

“The original panel of judges was going to be Simon Cowell, Fern Britton and Piers Morgan. I was the host. Then when I had the row with ITV I was banned from the studios.

“I remember I rang Simon and told him he had a huge hit on his hands, but there was no way I could do it. I said, if I am banned I have to be banned from everything. I can’t be a hypocrite and come in and do this. I had to bow out.”

Paul added: “I don’t regret what I did. Not in the slightest. Good luck to them.” He did also manage to patch things up with ITV and returned years later with Paul O’Grady Live!.

Paul’s decision to boycott ITV meant Britain’s Got Talent was hit with a huge delay and Simon decided to kick off with America’s Got Talent first. Simon enlisted Piers again as he wanted “someone who is judgmental, opinionated, obnoxious and arrogant” as him.

Britain’s Got Talent hit screens a year later with Simon, Piers and Amanda Holden as judges and Ant and Dec as hosts. Piers said on The Overlap and Betfair’s Stick to Cricket show: “He had literally come up with the entire concept of Got Talent on a napkin at the Ivy in Kensington.

“Bring back a talent show. Have a tough mean judge, a mother hen figure, a funny person and any talent goes. Now the Got Talent franchise is in more than 60 countries around the world. It changed my life.”
