Victoria Beckham’s fashion business lost £70k on plants as humiliating blunders exposed

Victoria Beckham spent a ‘mind-blowing’ amount of money on plants for her office as she details her humiliating spending blunders and admits she ‘lost her way’ in new documentary

Victoria Beckham’s new Netflix documentary has revealed the Spice Girls singer’s fashion business lost £70k on plants as she details how people were ‘scared to say no’. The new series comes after Victoria featured in her husband’s 2022 docu-series, which left fans wanting more from Victoria on their screens.

In an honest and open discussion, Victoria, 51, took accountability for her spending and admitted she had ‘lost her way’ and needed to ‘change’.

Victoria’s business partner David Belhassen, revealed the singer turned fashion icon was spending £70,000 a year on plants for the office, and a further £15,000 a year to have them watered.

Victoria candidly said on the show: “The waste was mind-blowing. I was flying chairs from one side of the world to the other. I think part of the reason is some people were scared to say no. If I am honest, it is the power of celebrity. People thought I wasn’t used to hearing no.”

Reflecting on the difficult time, the mum of four took full accountability and admitted she was the one who needed to change. She said: “I will hold my hands up and be accountable. I was in debt, there was a lot I had to change. I realised I had lost my way. I needed to put Victoria Beckham back into Victoria Beckham.”

Things turned around when her business partner, David Belhassen, joined the company and took a look at the books. He said: “For years, she had people telling her what she wanted to hear. I remember one of the expenses was the office plants, because she loves plants, and it was costing like 70,000 a year. And then there was someone who was coming to water the plants for 15,000 a year, and that’s only the beginning.”

He added: “So I went to her, and I decided to just tell the truth exactly the way it is, and I didn’t know how she would react. And I said, Victoria, we have to change everything, restructure the business, and that’s going to be painful. And when I finished, she just listened, and she left a little silence.”

The world premiere of her new Netflix series took place on Wednesday 8 October and the former Spice Girl and fashion designer was the guest of honour for the event at the Curzon Mayfair cinema.

She was accompanied by husband David, 50, and the power couple arrived looking like a million bucks as they held hands for photos. Victoria stunned in a plunging white dress with a matching blazer draped over her shoulders.

David cut a smart figure in a black suit as he supported his wife at the event. Their children Cruz, Romeo and Harper (and even Cruz’s girlfriend, Jackie Apostel) were all in attendance, wearing variations of black and white.

Victoria Beckham says documentary is like ‘a year’s therapy’ after eating disorder admission

The former Spice Girl star turned fashion mogul Victoria Beckham looks back over the ups and downs of life in a three part series for Netflix, following her husband’s docuseries

Victoria Beckham has claimed making her new Netflix documentary is the equivalent to “a year of therapy” after she spoke about her past demons for the first time.

The former Spice Girl and fashion designer opens up about her eating disorder and business failures for the cameras. And far from finding it traumatic, Victoria believes the process has changed her for the better.

Victoria, 51, said: “When I did my master interviews, of which there were quite a few, it was the first time I’ve ever been forced to look back. Sometimes it made me smile, sometimes it was frustrating because I’m trying to remember things that maybe I’ve blocked out, there’s a few triggers along the way. This has been like a year’s therapy for me. I feel that I went into this process calling myself a control freak and I’ve come out the other end a reformed control freak. I haven’t had the control with this documentary that I have with most elements of my life, and I feel much more content coming out the other end.”

Victoria also said in the interview to accompany the Netflix documentary that she hopes her story can inspire others.

She said: “When I reflected on not just the Spice Girls, but my family growing up, my journey from when I was very small, I really was an underdog. If my story can inspire anyone along the way, to really not take no for an answer, to believe in themselves, not be afraid of the hard work, understand that you’re going to get knocked.

“I’ve been knocked so many times and I just bounce back up again and that doesn’t come without its challenges on you physically, mentally, emotionally, so I’d say I’ve been very honest about all of these things.”

The three part Netflix series sees Victoria and husband David discuss some areas of her life for the first time in depth.

Looking back to one tough time, Victoria said: “I really started to doubt myself and not like myself, you know, and because I let it affect me, I didn’t know what I saw when I looked in the mirror.

“You lose all sense of reality. I was just very critical of myself. I didn’t like what I saw. I’ve been everything from porky posh to skinny posh. I mean, you know, it’s been a lot, and that’s hard. I had no control over what was being written about me, pictures that were being taken.

“And I suppose I wanted to control that, you know, I could control it with the clothing. I could control my weight, and I was controlling it in an incredibly unhealthy way. When you have an eating disorder, you become very good at lying.

“And I was never honest about it with my parents. I never talked about it publicly. It really affects you when you’re being told constantly you’re not good enough, and I suppose that’s been with me my whole life.”

The three part series follows Victoria from the teenager who restyled her school uniform, to the Spice Girl who fought to be accepted by a notoriously demanding fashion industry.

Sharon Osbourne fans in tears by Ozzy birthday gesture in re-surfaced clip

A video has resurfaced online showing Ozzy Osbourne surprising his wife Sharon Osbourne on her birthday, and fans were left in tears by the gesture which has resurfaced on Facebook

A touching gesture from Ozzy Osbourne to his wife Sharon has left fans emotional after a resurfaced video went viral online. The Black Sabbath had always made his love for Sharon clear, and a surprise on her birthday was a real treat. Ozzy, who sadly passed away at the age of 76 on 22 July this year, would always charm fans with his appearances.

The spontaneous moment occurred on a talk show that Sharon was attending, when suddenly one of her husband’s hit songs started playing. The surprise saw Ozzy walk onto the show with a bouquet of flowers for Sharon, who was genuinely taken aback to see the Iron Man songwriter.

Fans were thrilled by the appearance, and even years after the touching moment, viewers are saying it encapsulates the couple’s marriage.

A video has now resurfaced as Sharon celebrates her 73rd birthday today (October 9). It also included a statement suggesting it showed a “softer” side to the Prince of Darkness.

It reads: “Ozzy Osbourne surprises his beloved Sharon on her birthday during a women’s talk show – a gesture that showed the softer side of the Prince of Darkness.”

Fans were moved to tears by the video, with the poignant clip recently shared online. One person wrote: “Seen this 100 times and I still cry.”

Another added: “She loves him so much and he lovers her so much. I hope everyone finds this kind of love.” Others were left thrilled by Sharon Osbourne’s reaction to the surprise appearance of her husband, saying it is “priceless”.

One person wrote: “Her face when Ozzy’s music hit. Pure perfection. Ozzy is the goat.”

Another added: “This never gets old! He adored her! It showed in the way he treated her. I know they had rough times but he adored her!”.

A third shared: “I love the look on her face. So much love in just her expression. My heart aches for her right now.”

However, Osbourne’s gentler nature wasn’t extended to fellow musicians, with the Prince of Darkness revealing one respected artist was “too cold”.

During the early ’80s, Yngwie Malmsteen was already making waves with his lightning-fast playing, pinpoint accuracy, and scale-heavy solo performances. Whilst he possessed exceptional technical abilities, Osbourne felt there could be too much of a good thing.

“There are guys who’ll go wingly-wangly up and down the fretboard, and some have emotions and others don’t,” he told Guitar World Magazine.

“This Yngwie Malmsteen guy must have the capability to do some amazing things, but it’s too cold, it’s too much for the mind to take in.”

Ron Dean dead: Risky Business and The Breakfast Club star dies as wife pays tribute

Ron Dean has died at the age of 87. The actor – who starred in the likes of Risky Business and The Breakfast Club – peacefully died alongside his family and loved ones.

The actor’s partner Maggie Neff shared: “He passed at exactly 4pm, after his beloved sisters had said their goodbyes. He hung on like a warrior to say goodbye to his little sisters. Then we were alone, and in my arms, I held his hand, and he trusted me when I told him that it was alright to let go. What an honour!”

Ron was born in Chicago in 1938 and he became well known for his early portrayals of police officers and other military officials. In one of his key roles, he played a detective alongside Tom Cruise in Risky Business.

He also had a key role in The Breakfast Club, where he played Mr Clark, the father of Andy Clark – which was portrayed by actor Emilio Estevez. The movie was a hit of the 1980s.

Ron also had roles in movies including Light of Day, The Fugitive, The Client as well as a part in Hollywood blockbuster The Dark Knight. He appeared in various TV shows including Frasier, Murder, She Wrote, ER, The West Wing and Cold Case.

Maggie described her and Ron as “kindred spirits”. She told People: “Ron and I were/are kindred spirits. Our connection was instantaneous and remained so for nearly four decades.

“The love between us was unconditional and permanent. We locked horns many times over the years, but there was never any question that we would be there for each other in our hour of need. And we always were.”

She added: “It’s hard to capture what an extraordinary human being Ron was. One glamorous woman friend of Ron’s once told me that she’d rather grab a hot dog with Ron Dean than have a fancy dinner with some rich bloke. I have always felt the same way.”

Director Andrew Davis, who worked with Dean on The Fugitive added in a statement to Deadline: “Ron Dean was my dear friend and a tremendous actor. He was the essence of what Chicago talent represented. Having a very troubled youth Ron turned his life around to have a wonderful career as a loving, decent human being and respected talent.”

Tributes have also flooded in from movie fans, with one writing: “He was a Chicago cop in every single movie that included Chicago cops for about 40 years.” Another added: “Very good in The Fugitive and The Dark Knight.”

A third shared: “RIP Ron Dean. You will be remembered for that role which only you could have done in The Breakfast Club.”

Kate Garraway ‘mortified’ by Celebrity Traitors stars’ brutal comments behind back

Kate Garraway has revealed that last night’s episode of The Celebrity Traitors left her ‘mortified’ as she discovered what her co-stars had been saying about her. The BBC One spin-off kicked off last night, with 19 stars arriving at the iconic Scottish castle to play the popular game.

Hosted by Claudia Winkleman, the show sees the likes of Jonathan Ross, Alan Carr, Charlotte Church, Cat Burns, Tom Daley, Celia Imrie and other stars attempt to win up to £100,000 for their selected charity. Viewers will know that Kate is not a Traitor after last night’s premiere, however her co-stars were not convinced at the time of filming – with many suspecting her.

In one scene, Clare Balding was referring to Kate when she told Charlotte after the Traitors were chosen: “There’s someone who’s overdoing it on the reaction.” Charlotte added: “Interesting.”

Later in the episode, after Kate won an immunity shield, actor Ruth Codd told a few other members of the cast: “I’m not certain at all but I am suspicious of Kate a little bit.”

When Tom pointed out that she didn’t have her shield out throughout the challenge – where you could surrender your shield to move the group further in the task – Ruth added: “I just think ordinarily she would strike me as the type of person who would give up a shield.”

Speaking to co-host Ed Balls and entertainment guest Melvin Odoom on Good Morning Britain, Kate said: “It’s fascinating because I didn’t know what they’d all been saying about me yesterday. Mortifying! I’m with you on this journey.”

She added: “The first task we had to do was pull up at the ceremony, there were grave stones with all our names on and we had to dig in the soil to find out shield.

“I was amazed at just how much I lost all respect and dignity. I went like a frenzy, like some crazy Labrador Retriever.”

Kate went onto to share her shock at the fact that some of her co-stars thought she was a Traitor. “What I didn’t realise, until last night, is right from the get go – people thought it was me,” she said. “I thought they thought I was a delight!”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV1 and ITVX.
