Coronation Street as recast a beloved character after just one year on screen, with the fourth star now taking on the role. The ITV soap has rejigged its cast as a new actor will appear on the Cobbles very soon.

The character has been part of the ITV show for eight years, but will now be taken on by a new actor. Harry Platt, who is the son of Sarah Barlow, had been played by Carter J Murphy.

He took on the part of actress Tina O’Brien’s child, having filled in from twins Freddie and Isaac Rhodes. It comes as a former Coronation Street resident is sentenced to four years in prison offscreen.

However, Carter’s departure from the soap comes with a good reason. He has landed a huge role in Matilda the Musical and could no longer carry on with his commitments on Corrie.

Carter has decided to step away from his role for a year, with a new actor called Josh filling in for him. He will make his debut on the Cobbles in the coming weeks, according to the Sun.

Character Harry was born in 2016 following Sarah’s fling with baddie Callum Logan, played by Sean Ward. Twins Freddie and Isaac played the role from 2017 to last year.

It wasn’t Carter’s first taste of the big screen thanks to landing the role of a young Robbie Williams in his upcoming movie Better Man. Speaking to press about Carter joining the soap, Jack P Shepherd said: “They’ve just recast the lad who plays Harry.

“Carter is very, very confident.” He made his debut on screens in December last year. Just last month, Corrie saw a new actress step into a role following the recasting of a character.

Grace Ashcroft-Gardiner stepped into the shoes of Lily Platt on the beloved ITV soap. The young actress couldn’t contain her joy as she announced her new gig to her followers, taking over from Brooke Malonie who portrayed Lily since 2016.

Grace said: “I am so excited to share my news that I have joined the cast of Coronation Street playing the role of Lily Platt.” She went on to thank the Stagebox team for their pivotal role in her journey.

The young star added: “It’s been a brilliant few months since my first audition, which wouldn’t have happened without the fantastic Stagebox team (who I can’t thank enough! ).

“The whole Corrie team, the cast and crew have been absolutely amazing, I couldn’t have asked for any more support during my first few weeks filming on the cobbles.”

Sydney Martin, who plays Betsy Swain, commented: “Smashing it! ! I love the sass you give her.” Jack P Shepherd, who plays her on-screen father David Platt, chimed in: “Yay! Great to have part of the family Grace.”

Grace became the sixth actress to step into the shoes of Lily since the character’s introduction in 2013.

Harvey Weinstein, 73, set for third trial this year after mistrial on rape charge

Disgraced media mogul Harvey Weinstein is set for a third trial in New York after a mistrial in June as jury members couldn’t reach a decision

Harvey Weinstein is set to face trial for a third time later this year. It comes after the disgraced media mogul was convicted in June of sexually assaulting one woman.

He was also acquitted of assaulting another by a jury who could not reach a verdict in a third case. Now, the judge wants another retrial to be held this year.

On Wednesday, New York Judge Curtis Farber said he wants the trial to take place before the end of the year after a jury was unable to come to a verdict on a rape charge that accused Weinstein of sexually assaulting former actress Jessica Mann.

Weinstein, 73, denies sexually assaulting or raping anyone.

The jury in June reached a split verdict in the second of the fallen star’s New York trials. Of three charges from three different women, only one resulted in a criminal conviction. Another resulted in an acquittal, and the third, the accusation from Jessica Mann, ended in a mistrial as jury members couldn’t reach a decision.

Now, however, that mistrial might see a different ending with the latest decision. The first New York trial against Weinstein occurred in 2020. At that time, a jury returned a guilty verdict.

However, his team were successful in having the conviction overturned, which resulted in a retrial.

The sentencing for Weinstein’s conviction, according to the judge, is set for September 30. “We continue to fight,” Jennifer Bonjean, Weinstein’s attorney said, according to The New York Times. “This doesn’t change the strength of the appeal, which is strong and compelling. We will continue to fight till the bitter end.”

Following the verdict in June, Mann told the Mirror in a statement, “I would never lie about rape or use something so traumatic to hurt someone. Rape can happen in relationships – and in dynamics where power and manipulation control the narrative.

“Some victims survive by appeasing, and many carry deep empathy, even for their abusers. That’s part of the trap.

“No matter the ‘power’ I gained, I never used it to harm him. I’ve advocated for men, studied consent law to protect both victims and the wrongly accused, and kept the fight where it belongs: in the courtroom. I never even sued him civilly when I could have been awarded damages. I waived liability because I only ask for accountability.“Even in my dynamic with Harvey – the lack of a ‘seductress’ is under-discussed and the evidence that usually follows a person with those intentions. The smear campaign built around me is hollow.

“The evidence doesn’t exist because the propaganda isn’t real. It’s the nuances I fight to have heard while I’m objected at when answering in the courtroom.“Coming forward cost me everything. My privacy, my safety. I laid bare my trauma, my shame – everything I’d tried to bury just to keep living. Still, I stood up and told the truth. Again and again.”

Traitors and Celebrity SAS star ‘involved in boozy brawl with TikTok star’

The Traitors winner and former Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins star Harry Clark was reportedly involved in a ‘drunken scuffle’ with a TikTok influencer following a recent showbiz event

After viewers watched Harry Clark get the chop from Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, reports of a previous bust up and a glitzy bash came to light.

The Traitors star exited the gruelling Channel 4 show at the midway point after being caught out. And now allegations have came to light on a boozy brawl involving Harry and a TikTok star at the Brit Awards.

According to reports, the reality TV star had a “drunken scuffle” with social media star Moe Osman at the awards ceremony in March. Sources claim the alleged incident saw Harry, 24, retaliate after being “antagonised” by the influencer.

A source told The Sun that Moe, who is known as Hellacreps online, and Harry clashed at the event. They said: “Harry is clearly really enjoying being able to attend amazing events like the Brits but at the event he and Moe clashed.

“It got physical. It was a drunken scuffle. There is never a fight at that sort of thing so everyone was really shocked.”

Following his exit from Celeb SAS, it was revealed that Harry has now joined Pause For Thought in a permanent role. He recently appeared on BBC Radio 2’s long-running segment where he opened up about his religious beliefs.

Joining Scott Mills live on air on Tuesday, he said: “I know that some of your listeners will know me from winning The Traitors, and I wanna know more about that next week but for now, for this Pause For Thought, I thought I’d tell you more about what makes me tick. So, I’m Harry, I’m 24, and I come from a massive family.

“There’s five of us children, I’ve got two brothers, two sisters and a mum and dad. Despite achieving something, I’m still just a normal kid from Slough who lives with his parents and sisters in a council house.

“Both of my brothers have now moved out. Luckily, thanks to my mum, religion has always been a big part of my life and has helped me all the way through.”

He went on: “Faith has been, and it means a lot to me always and it’s amazing to be a part of something bigger that is outside of myself. As soon as I could I decided I was off to North Yorkshire at the age of 16 to become an avionics technician, which is technically a helicopter engineer, which is easier to understand but it’s still just as crazy as it sounds.

“I’d never seen a helicopter before I left Slough, so becoming a helicopter engineer is the coolest thing ever.”

And speaking of his involvement in The Traitors, he said: “I was asked to go on Traitors series two, which to my surprise, I actually managed to win somehow.

“Since then, it’s been a rollercoaster of ups and downs and around summertime again last year, I seemed to lose myself mentally but then the thing that saved me for a second time was my faith. When I prayed, I didn’t feel alone and I felt that there was something there for me just like there always has been.”

‘Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon couldn’t put each other down during photoshoot’

Celebrity photographer Steve Read shares the inside track on some of the most famous celebrities he has snapped ahead of an exhibition of his work, Shooting Stars Pays the Rent

A constant flow of hilarious anecdotes about everyone from Hollywood idols to rock ‘n’ roll stars trip off Steve Read’s tongue.

But it is the lensman’s images that really do the talking, a gallery of which are on show in his new exhibition – Shooting Stars Pays The Rent.

The original art director of lads’ mag loaded , Steve’s incredible pictures take viewers on a journey through the celebrity world of the late 1990s and early noughties, when he swapped commissioning photographers for taking pictures himself – and rubbing shoulders with La La Land’s glitterati. It comes after The Face magazine celebrated its 45th anniversary.

He tells The Mirror: “Soon I was on a different planet.”

One of his favourite memories comes from photographing Sharon and the late Ozzy Osbourne.

“This was before she was properly famous, but The Osbournes reality TV show was just about to come out in 2002,” he says. “The shoot was supposed to be all about her, but you couldn’t stop Ozzy getting in the shot and they just couldn’t put each other down.

“Sharon had wanted to do another shot, but the one that worked was them giving me the finger while they were kissing. ‘Pussy’ the cat is in the pic too.”

Now 64, Steve’s picture of the couple can be seen in his exhibition, which opens in Edinburgh at Kimpton Charlotte Square Hotel on Monday, 18 August, before touring the UK.

Also a filmmaker, Steve continues: “Ozzy was getting his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame the next day and he asked me if I wanted to go with him. Robbie Williams had just moved out to L.A. and he was like his new best friend and hanging out as well so I just tagged along. That was the level of intimacy you used to get back then.”

Another priceless anecdote comes from his shoot with Princess Anne’s daughter, the talented equestrian Zara Tindal.

He anticipated some problems, because he wanted her to bring her horse indoors, but he needn’t have worried – recalling how a middle-aged woman in a headscarf even offered to help.

“No, I’m ok love thanks,” he told her, without looking up.

His assistant ran up after she had walked off and told him: “That was Princess Anne you tw*t.” While Steve blushed, Zara laughed.

He says: “Zara is a dream to work with.”

As a photographer, Steve often found celebrities very different to their public persona.

Tom Constanten Grateful Dead

“I bumped into John Lydon in a diner when he was in the States with the reformed Sex Pistols and he was on his own,” he says. “This was when I was working for loaded and he loved the magazine, took my number and said he’d call the next day. I thought no more about it until he actually did. Lovely guy. We had a great couple of days.”

His knack for putting famous people at ease comes from his childhood, according to Steve, as his dad was a Luton Town goalie and he became used to seeing celebrities, like Eric Morecambe – who was a director of the club – coming to his house.

Steve, who also worked with legendary editor Tina Brown on Talk magazine – an iconic celebrity title in America – adds: “Celebrities are like everybody else. “They have good days and bad days.”

Taylor announced her 12th studio album, The Life Of A Showgirl, during her boyfriend Travis’ podcast. There is no confirmed release date, but it has been made available for pre-order and will be sent out by October 13.

In a teaser, Taylor appeared in a clip with her NFL star boyfriend Travis and his brother Jason, a former NFL player, on their New Heights podcast, where she opened a briefcase with “TS” printed on it, which contained the album but with its cover blurred out.

In the clip, she told the brothers: “So I wanted to show you something, this is my brand new album, The Life Of A Showgirl.” The brothers screamed and Travis shouted “TS 12”.

In a second teaser, Taylor jokingly took aim at the usual demographic for the podcast. “As we all know, you guys have a lot of male sports fans that listen to your podcast,” she quipped. “I think we all know that if there’s one thing that male sports fans want to see in their spaces and on their screens — it’s more of me.”

Rob Beckett has revealed that he was kicked out of Mick Jagger’s wild 82nd birthday party last month as he partied with rock legends. Crashing the party as fellow funnyman Jimmy Carr’s plus one, Rob was already two sheets to the wind after rocking out at Oasis’ Wembley gig, knocking back beer, cocktails and wine, before accepting the last minute invite.

Hotfooting it over to a swanky Chelsea nightclub The Rex Rooms, he couldn’t believe his luck as he partied with the rock legends. “It was a tiny little back room and Mick Jagger was there,” he shared.

“Obviously, a lot of his ex-wives and children from his ex-wives. There was Mariella Frostrup. Someone Guinness (Lulu), this sort of like fashion lady. She looked like Lady Gaga. Sacha Baron Cohen. Ronnie Wood.”

“It was really nice. They were really chatty and hospitable. The music was quite loud. I said hello to Mick Jagger. I didn’t properly chat to him.

“Because there was another separate room that had him in it with Sacha Baron Cohen,” he continued, talking on the Parenting Hell podcast. Rob isn’t the only one who has been letting his hair down.

“And I was chatting to Ronnie Wood and his wife, Sally, who are lovely.” But it all got a bit much for Rob, who started to get the beer fear.

“Then I was like, I’m too p***ed to be here. I was so p***ed. I’ve had six pints of lager, two espresso martinis, and I’d say a bottle and a half of rose, and just been to the best gig of my life.

Making a beeline for the door in his drunk state, he was helped on his way by some burly security.

“I got like frog marched out by four people that were like holding on to me,” he laughed.

Teased by co-host Josh Widdecombe that he’d been forcibly ejected, he mused: “Maybe I got kicked out. I don’t know! They’re walking me out, like they’re extracting me, like I’m a Rolling Stone and there’s like 10,000 people trying to grab me.”

He woke up in the morning to a banging headache and a friendly check in from his new pals Ronnie and Sally Wood. “They said they wanted to come to a gig!” he squeals. “That was one of the most mental nights of my life.”
