Prince William’s four-word response after Harry bombshell at Eugenie’s wedding

At Princess Eugenie’s wedding, which took place seven years ago today, the Prince of Wales had a telling four-word response after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced they were pregnant with their first child

Seven years ago today, Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank tied the knot in a stunning ceremony at Windsor Castle in front of the entire royal family. On the same day, a secret held by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle was shared, making the day memorable in more ways than one.

Standing in the wedding reception at St George’s Hall, the Duke of Sussex dropped a bombshell on his brother Prince William : that he and his wife, after being married for just five months, were expecting their first child. Harry recalled the moment he told his brother of their happy news in his autobiography Spare, revealing William’s telling reaction.

He wrote: “We were in a big room, suits of armour on the walls. Strange room, strange moment.” Harry recalled William’s response to his news and said he smiled and uttered just four words: “We must tell Kate.”

Harry also detailed the Princess of Wales ‘ reaction and said she was overjoyed to hear the news, as he wrote: “She also gave a big smile and hearty congratulations. They both reacted exactly as I hoped – as I’d wished.”

Meghan and Harry also told King Charles about their pregnancy at the wedding, as the Duke of Sussex said the monarch was “delighted” when he found out he would be welcoming another grandchild.

Harry wrote: “Just before a drink reception for the bride and groom, we cornered Pa in his study. He was delighted to learn that he was going to be a grandfather for a fourth time; his wide smile warmed me.”

Meghan Markle gave birth just six months later to Prince Archie on May 6, 2019 at the Portland Hospital, London. Harry also wrote about the birth of his first child in his memoir and admitted he was very nervous ahead of the birth.

The Sussexes have since gone on to welcome a second child, Princess Lilibet, who was born at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in California on June 4, 2021, one year after they quit their royal duties and relocated to America.

Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank tied the knot on October 12 2018, exchanging their vows in St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle in front of the entire royal family, including the late Queen Elizabeth.

More than 850 people, including Robbie Williams and Cara Delevigne, packed into the chapel to see Eugenie and Jack get married. Since their big day in 2018, Eugenie and Jack have welcomed two children – August, who was born in February 2021 and Ernest, who arrived in late May 2023.

Ian Watkins’ ex-girlfriend reveals ‘tears’ after death of Lostprophets paedo

Ian Watkins’ ex-girlfriend Jo Mjadzelics revealed she burst into tears after hearing that the former Lostprophets frontman had been killed at HMP Wakefield

Ian Watkins’ ex-girlfriend has revealed she started to cry when she heard he was dead. On Saturday, it was announced that the former Lostprophets frontman had been stabbed to death in jail.

He was serving a 29-year prison sentence for child sex offences. Watkins, aged 48, was attacked with a knife on Saturday morning. Emergency services were sent to HMP Wakefield, but he was pronounced dead on the scene. A Prison Service spokesperson said in a statement: “We are aware of an incident at HMP Wakefield which took place this morning. We are unable to comment further while the police investigate.”

Wakins was jailed in December 2013 with a further six years on license after he admitted a string of sex offences, including the attempted rape of a fan’s baby. Following the news, Jo Mjadzelics, 48, who first told the cops about Watkins’ dark fantasies, said she cried when she heard the news.

She told the Mirror: “I was shocked having the news out of the blue as I would with anyone who’s died.” Jo added: “There were tears, but only because of the shock – not tears for him.” She went on to explain that she was “surprised” it had taken 13 years for Watkins to be killed.

“I was worried sick he’d get out and track me down or something,” she added. A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said yesterday: “At 9.39am this morning (Saturday), police were called by staff at HMP Wakefield reporting an assault on a prisoner.

“Emergency services attended and the man was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later. Detectives from the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team are investigating and inquiries remain ongoing at the scene.” Two years prior to his death, he suffered severe but non-life-threatening injuries after being taken hostage.

In 2013, the Welsh native, 48, pleaded guilty at Cardiff Crown Court to 13 child sex offences. He also admitted to the rape and sexual assault of a child who was under the age of 13. Watkins also admitted conspiring to rape a child, three counts of sexual assault involving children, seven involving taking, making or possessing indecent images of children and one of possessing an extreme pornographic image involving a sex act on an animal.

Sentencing Mr Justice Royce said the case broke ‘new ground’ and ‘plunged into new depths of depravity’. He said Watkins had a ‘corrupting influence’ and had shown a ‘complete lack of remorse’. He added Watkins posed a significant risk to the public in particular to women with young children.

The musician was later handed an extra 10 months after he was discovered to have a mobile phone in his possession while behind bars. Initially, he denied having a three-inch GSTAR phone in his cell. As the verdict was read out, Watkins claimed that “known murderers” in his prison told him to keep an eye on the phone after chucking it on his bed.

During the hearing, Judge Rodney Jameson QC said: “I am very conscious of the fact you are serving a very long time and you will be well into middle age by the time you are released.

“The fact of the matter is, if there is not an appreciable penalty for having had a mobile phone in these circumstances, then of course you would draw from that the lesson you could have another one, and that is not a position I would want to encourage.”

Speaking about possible repercussions, he said: “Chances are someone would sneak up behind me and cut my throat. It’s not like one-on-one. Stuff like that, you don’t see it coming.” He was said to be sharing his wing with murderers, killers, rapists and paedophiles, who he described as “the worst of the worst”. Asked to describe his music career during an earlier appearance, Watkins told the court his band had sold between five and ten million records across the world between 1999 and 2012.

Watkins said the Lostprophets had toured all over the world, headlining at Wembley Arena and the MEN Arena in Manchester. Watkins was allegedly paying for protection in prison after being stabbed with a “sharpened toilet brush”. The convicted sex offender reportedly had “access to money” and “spent his time” buying both protection and friendships after the attack in 2023, which was reportedly over a £900 drugs debt.

Heartbreaking moment Kate went into ‘self preservation mode’ in Harry and Meghan feud

An expert has pinpointed the sad moment that Princess Kate seemingly decided ‘self-preservation mode’ was the way to go amid the Waleses’ ongoing feud with Prince Harry and Meghan

Prince Harry may finally be making progress in healing his relationship with his dad King Charles, but the same can’t be said when it comes to his estranged brother Prince William or sister-in-law, Princess Kate.

Since stepping back as working royals, Harry and Meghan have been extremely candid about their grievances towards the rest of the Royal Family, but according to Harry’s memoir Spare, relations started breaking down between the Sussexes and Waleses long before the couple took the plunge and moved to California.

The duke was once much closer to Kate and William, but as it stands, it doesn’t seem like making up is in the cards. The couples have only crossed paths on a couple of occasions since the Sussexes’ bombshell royal exit.

And now body language expert Judi James has pinpointed one particular moment in these few occasions when it seemed like Kate quickly chose to go into “self-preservation mode” rather than engage with the ongoing feud.

It occurred shortly after the late Queen’s death, when Harry, William, Kate, and Meghan all went to meet well-wishers in Windsor, and view tributes left to the late monarch.

Formerly dubbed the ‘Fab Four’, the two couples arrived in the same car, but Kate quickly walked by herself, rather than engaging in a group dynamic, the expert pointed out to the Daily Mail.

It was the first time the two couples had reunited so publicly since relations had broken down, and given the loss of the beloved Queen, it was a high-profile moment, so it was “no surprise” Kate decided to do what worked for her, the expert said.

“Kate appeared to use spatial behaviour and distancing to make her own point about group dynamics and a lack of desire to turn an homage to a dearly-loved Queen into a soap-style drama.”

Judi continued, “her body language suggested a very focused future Queen wanting to pay her respects to a late Queen with the kind of decisive firmness and resolve that Elizabeth II was famous for.”

Royal author Omid Scobie also explored the moment in his book Endgame, in which he revealed that Meghan had been, according to sources, “extremely nervous” about interacting with the public, and that during the drive to the walkabout, the two couples had barely spoken in the car, simply “muddled through light small talk” given the ongoing tension between them.

Meanwhile, sources close to Kate told royal author Robert Jobson that due to the soured relationship between the Waleses and the Sussexes, the future Queen found the walkabout, “one of the hardest things she ever had to do”.

Michelle Keegan’s ‘gutting’ blow as she has ‘fresh start’ with Mark Wright

As Michelle Keegan’s series Ten Pound Poms is axed, a source reveals what the actress might have in store for her and Mark Wright – and baby Palma

Following the news that the Michelle Keegan-led BBC series Ten Pound Poms has been axed after just two series, what might be seen as a blow for the actress could actually represent a “fresh start”, a source tells new. Sadly, it was confirmed last week that the popular period drama, set in Australia in the 1950s, which first hit our screens in 2023, would not be renewed for a third season.

But a source claims exclusively to OK! that, though disappointed, former Corrie star Michelle will be making the most of having more time off – and not having to fly to the other side of the world for long periods – as it means more quality time with husband Mark and their daughter Palma.

“With Michelle, her career is everything. She loves her family and absolutely loves being a mother, but that doesn’t mean she’s not gutted that Ten Pound Poms has been cancelled,” the source claims. “Despite that, she’s definitely found more balance since having Palma, and Mark is always so supportive, so she isn’t complaining.”

Michelle and her husband of 10 years, former TOWIE star Mark, became parents for the first time in March. “Together we have a new love to share… Our little girl,” the couple wrote to announce Palma’s birth.

Before having their baby girl, Michelle spent months away at a time to film Ten Pound Poms, which is both set and filmed in Australia.

And while Mark and Michelle, both 38, who share a sprawling family home in Essex, did make as much effort as possible to see one another between filming, Mark previously admitted it “was hard” being so far from his other half.

He remarked in 2023, “You have to learn that you’ve been together for a long time and not seen each other in weeks, so it’s exciting at first, but then it goes back to being a 10-year relationship. The longer you go, the more pressure there is because the longer it’s been.”

Mark added, “I had dinner with Piers Morgan in LA and I told him it was hard. He said, ‘I had this with my wife and we have a three-week rule, so don’t let it go past three weeks.’ And with Australia, it’s a lot of flying.”

However, bar any far-flung new TV projects for Michelle, it seems there won’t be any more long-haul flights, as the BBC confirmed the end of Ten Pound Poms, in which Michelle plays nurse Kate Thorne.

A statement read, “It’s been a joy to bring the story of the Ten Pound Poms to life for BBC viewers and we are really grateful to Danny Brocklehurst, Eleven and all the cast and crew who have worked on the series.” The disappointing news comes months after Michelle admitted she would “be up for it” if the BBC asked her to film a third season.

“I love this show and I feel very lucky to be a part of it. If the audience takes with this season, and there’s hunger there for another season, fingers crossed the BBC will want another one. I’d definitely be up for it,” she said in March, admitting at the time that there would be a slight delay in filming because of her pregnancy and Palma’s birth.

However, with the decision now made for her – and her Sky comedy drama Brassic also wrapping after seven series this year, our source maintains that this is the perfect opportunity for Michelle to settle in and enjoy some well-deserved rest with her family.

“This could actually be a fresh start for Michelle and Mark as they’re really used to being so busy and always spending time apart, so it’s a real opportunity to bond,” they explain.

Since rising to fame in Coronation Street at just 20, Michelle’s career has gone from strength to strength. With roles in dramas such as Our Girl, Brassic and Netflix hit Fool Me Once, her star has continued to rise.

But everyone needs a break, and after announcing her pregnancy at the beginning of the year, Michelle admitted that she was relishing the thought of a rare summer off. “I’m going to take a good chunk of time off to enjoy being a mum. I’m never normally at home in the summer, I’ve always been away working, so I can’t wait.”

And it would seem the Wrights are already making the most of it, with family get-togethers and several picture-postcard family holidays to Spain this year.

Looking back on a recent trip to favourite destination Palma, Mallorca – the place their daughter is named after – Mark gushed on his Heart radio show that the family have loved the quality time together. “Palma went to Palma for the first time, we took a picture in front of the Palma sign. It was a beautiful week. I ate and drank a bit, too.”

Article continues below

And long may the fun times continue, says our source. “They will never get these early days with Palma back, so it’s about savouring the time together and putting everything else on the back burner.”
