Jamie Redknapp says ‘it’s not always easy’ in rare comment about life after Louise split

Jamie Redknapp offered a rare personal insight into the highs and lows of having a blended family, following his high-profile split from singer Louise Redknapp

Jamie Redknapp has made a rare comment about his blended family with his wife Frida Andersson. The football pundit and the Swedish model married and welcomed their first baby together, a son named Raphael, back in 2021.

Jamie’s new relationship came following his highly-publicised split from his ex-wife Louise Redknapp, 50. The former couple, who share sons Charley, 21, and Beau, 16, called it quits after 19 years of marriage in 2017.

Since then, Louise has spoken publicly about their split, while Jamie has largely steered clear of the topic.

Now, in a candid podcast, the 52-year-old has opened up about the highs and lows of having a blended family.

Starting with a rare comment about his second wife, he gushed: “She’s a diamond, she really is,” before going on to describe her as “fiercely competitive”.

Before meeting Jamie, the model was married to hedge fund manager Jonathan Lourie, with whom she has four children.

The couple now enjoy a blended family of seven children between them – but the football pundit admits it’s not always been easy.

Upon telling Charley that Frida was pregnant, Jamie said the news “went down like a lead balloon”, while his other son Beau took it a bit better.

After adapting to the change over time, he said their younger brother Raphael has since become “the glue for everybody”.

“We’ve got seven kids between us,” he said on The Romesh Ranganathan Show. “We’ve got a lot of kids, a lot of moving parts.

“And it’s not always easy, and I’m sure everyone who has done the same, you know the modern term is to blend a family, it’s never going to be that simple, but I like to think we’ve done it pretty well.

“Raphael has definitely been the glue for everybody because you can’t not love him, he’s amazing, he’s hilarious,” he added.

“So with Charley, once he sort of got over that, and I got it, I wouldn’t be disrespectful as he had his own individual feelings, but Beau was a little bit easier, he was a bit younger at the time.

“But I think he [Charley] knew how much I loved Frida, so he was totally fine with it in the end.”

Speaking further about parenting, Jamie insisted he had learned many of his ways from his parents, Harry and Sandra Redknapp.

“You want to be their best mate, but you’ve also got to be tough with them like my dad was with me,” he shared.

“He was very, very, honest and you know, in terms of my relationship with him, it’s as good now as what it’s ever been.”

Meanwhile, Jamie’s ex-wife Louise, who rose to fame in the girl group Eternal, has also been enjoying a new relationship with Drew Michael for the last two years.

With Christmas fast approaching, its look and price rivals high-street options such as Never Fully Dressed’s Silver Sequin T Shirt Dress, which costs £129 and is a bit more of a relaxed look with a twist – perfect for those who don’t particularly enjoy figure-fitting dresses.

For something with a high neck, Next’s Lipsy Silver Sequin Long Sleeve Wrap Skirt Mini Dress is £69 with gold sequins and a cinched-in waist.

Sharing just a few of these looks on Matalan’s Instagram, fans of Vicky were quick to share their love for the new pieces with one person commenting: “Love it all. Can’t wait for sequin season,” while someone else added: “Bloody beautiful collection, perfect for Christmas.”

Having just launched, the dress has no reviews just yet although comments on social media make us think it’ll be well received. Our only worry, with sequin dresses, is that they can sometimes be a bit itchy. However, the dress has a lining, so that should prevent this. If it doesn’t, we’d suggest purchasing a slip to ensure the dress falls perfectly.

‘Victoria Beckham and I got eating disorders for same reason, I almost died’

Former Emmerdale star Gemma Oaten has spoken of the sadness and devastation eating disorders can cause and voiced fears the ‘heroin chic’ trend from the 90s is returning

Victoria Beckham has revealed she has faced a lifelong struggle with an eating disorder after being body shamed at theatre school when she was a teen.

The Spice Girl turned fashion designer will open up about her ordeal for the first time in her new Netflix documentary, saying she had controlled her weight in an “incredibly unhealthy way”.

“I have been everything from porky posh to skinny posh, I mean, it’s been a lot and that’s hard,” said the 51-year-old star of being judged for her size over the years.

“I never spoke about it publicly, it really affects you. When you’re told constantly you’re not good enough. And I suppose that’s been with me my whole life.”

Former Emmerdale actress Gemma Oaten knows first hand the devastating impact of an eating disorder, having suffered with anorexia for 13 years. The star was hospitalised 21 times from the age of 12 to 19 and heartbreakingly told The Times last year: “I could be sitting here today with a husband and a child. I might not have had a heart attack at 18.”

Gemma, 41, grew up in the ’90s, a time when the term “heroin chic” became popular, with extremely thin fashion models placed on a dangerous pedestal. Like Victoria, she says, “My eating disorder stemmed from bullying.

“I couldn’t control what people were saying but I felt my weight was something I could control. I began my eating disorder journey at ten years old in 1994 and I remember the Spice Girls coming out around 1996.

“It’s just so ironic and sad that these were powerful, go-getting women who me and many other girls around the world looked up to and aspired to be and yet I think three of them – Mel C has talked openly about an eating disorder, Geri has and now Victoria Beckham, it’s just really sad to think that those people I looked up to were struggling as well. It just goes to show that nobody knows the hidden battles between the success and the glamour and the glitz.”

The star told how Victoria’s description of a need for control resonated deeply. “I think it’s really brave that Victoria has spoken out,” said Gemma, who has been appeared in Doctors and Coronation Street.

“She’s very eloquent in saying about how an eating disorder is about control, which is a really important thing to get across in the narrative.

“A lot of people misconstrue that an eating disorder is brought about by seeing images of thin people and magazines and social media. Yes, there is an element of that but ultimately it’s about losing control over something and feeling like the eating disorder is a way of getting control back.”

“Like she says in the article, people were just having opinions of her and she was losing sense of who she was and couldn’t control the narrative,” she added.

“The eating disorder tricks you into believing that there is something you can control but the ironic thing is that an eating disorder will make you lose control of everything. It’s such a sad and devastating mental health illness.”

Gemma is now the CEO of SEED, a charity service that provides support to people with eating disorders. Worryingly, she feels we are going backwards when it comes to the pressure women face to be skinny. “There’s a lot around pressure to be skinny again at the moment which is really scary,” she said.

“I was talking about it to my friend, with the Montjaro jabs. In the ’90s and ’00s we were in our Kate Moss and Jodie Kidd era, ‘heroin chic’ was on the catwalk. It was this big narrative around how skinny and thin was beautiful.

“Then things progressed with body positivity and seeing larger models and people in our social streams and on television. All of a sudden I feel like the narrative is going back to: thin is how society is meant to be, especially for women.

Katie Price ordered to cut ‘extravagant’ spending as she’s set to lose half her monthly income

Katie Price faced more financial woes as she was told to pay almost half her earnings to creditors after being declared bankrupt for a second time last year

Katie Price is set to lose almost half of her monthly income from multiple companies to pay off creditors after a judge said she must reduce her “extravagant pattern of expenditure”.

The former glamour model was first declared bankrupt in 2019 and again last year. Both bankruptcies have since been discharged, but she remains the subject of a court order known as an income payments order (IPO) – meaning she must pay 40 per cent of her monthly income from several companies to the trustee of her bankruptcies until February 2027.

On Thursday, barristers for the trustee asked a specialist bankruptcy court to make a second IPO, which would see a further 10 companies pay 40% of Ms Price’s monthly income to the trustee for three years. The companies include media and entertainment firms, and the partnership which acts as Ms Price’s agent.

Neither Ms Price nor any of the 10 companies were in attendance or represented at the hearing. But Deputy Insolvency and Companies Court Judge Stephen Baister said Ms Price had “every opportunity to appear and to make representations”.

Making the second IPO, he said: “The bankrupt’s expenditure seems to have exceeded her income, but that is only because she has adopted an extravagant pattern of expenditure, that of course she is now going to have to trim somewhat.”

He continued: “I will make the order for the reasons that the trustee of the bankruptcies seeks.”

The judge said that Ms Price now works as an influencer and has “enjoyed a considerable amount of success”, earning income “that by any standard would be regarded as significant”.

He also said that “very substantial sums remain that provide ample headroom” for Ms Price, despite the second IPO being made.

Rowena Page, for the trustee, told the court in written submissions that under the terms of the first IPO, Ms Price had to pay a lump sum of £25,000 and 34 monthly payments of £12,500 to the trustee.

But she continued that Ms Price had “failed to make the lump-sum payment due” and had “failed to discharge any of the monthly instalments she was ordered to make”.

Ms Page also said that more than £124,000 had been paid to the trustee by the companies covered by the first IPO. She added that the second IPO “should be granted for the benefit of Ms Price’s creditors”.

She said: “It is apparent that Ms Price earns sums significantly in excess of the sums required to meet her and her family’s reasonable domestic needs.”

After her first bankruptcy in November 2019, Ms Price was made bankrupt again in March 2024 over an unpaid tax bill worth more than £750,000.

The first IPO was made in February last year and covered Ms Price’s monthly income from four companies, including the adult entertainment website OnlyFans, with more added at a hearing in July last year. At that hearing, a judge also issued a warrant for Ms Price’s arrest after she failed to attend.

She was due to attend a public examination in August last year to face questions over her finances, but this was adjourned so she could attend a “private interview”. Both bankruptcies were then discharged earlier this year, but the IPOs remain in force as they were applied for before the bankruptcies ended.
