Vernon Kay confesses he and wife Tess Daly still regret one marriage decision

Vernon Kay, a host of BBC Radio 2, has been married to Tess Daly, a presenter of Strictly Come Dancing for more than 20 years. He has since admitted there is one thing they still regret.

BBC Radio 2 presenter Vernon Kay has opened up about his wedding day, revealing there’s one element of the special occasion he’ll always regret.

Despite exchanging vows with Strictly Come Dancing co-presenter Tess Daly more than two decades ago, he admitted that one choice the couple made before their big day continues to play on his mind.

He explained to a listener on his daily Radio 2 show this morning (Tuesday, 23 September) that he still feels bad about not having his special day with Tess on film, adding that it is just another expense in addition to the wine, the food, the fish, and all that kid-related costs. We didn’t have a videographer, so we’re now like “aghh,” looking back.

Previously, Vernon had revealed that he and Tess had met each other completely by accident at a BBC Christmas bash.

It was back in 2001, when they were both at the beginning of their broadcasting journeys, that they faced the peculiar task of creating their own interpretation of Britney Spears’ hit …Baby One More Time music video at the festive celebration.

The couple tied the knot in 2003 just two years after their initial meeting, and Amber, their second child, was born in October 2003, along with their eldest daughter, Phoebe.

It’s fair to say that Vernon and Tess have been together for more than 20 years, and the co-host of Strictly, who recently spoke with Hello magazine, was eager to pay tribute to him by saying: “Vernon’s also a brilliant dad. He attends netball games to cheer on, and we never miss a concert.

She continued, “I’m aware that you don’t get these precious moments back.”

The couple’s romance has grown on them over the years, but Vernon took Ken Bruce’s sought-after mid-morning position on BBC Radio 2 in 2023.

He had previously appeared on Radio 1 frequently and had intervened whenever Zoe Ball was unable to air her program.

Similar to Tess, she pursued modeling before beginning her television career in the early 2000s, hosting Strictly Come Dancing as co-host in 2004.

MAFS UK groom thanks experts for his ‘perfect match’ in romantic honeymoon

Steven and Nelly, the fourth couple to tie the knot in this series, were flown to sunny Jamaica for their lavish honeymoon.

After a pleasant wedding ceremony, Steven and Nelly, the newlyweds, traveled to Montego Bay, Jamaica, for their honeymoon. Nelly, who is known as Neelima, and Steven are currently satisfied that the experiment’s pairing was chosen.

Ahead of their wedding, the couple were so nervous to meet each other but Steven was in awe as Nelly arrived down the aisle carried on a doli adorned in flowers. The two were happy with their first impressions, with Steven saying: “What an entrance,” and Nelly commenting on how tall he is.

After concluding their thoughtful vows, the couple returned to their respective families and shared a sweet kiss as they entered the aisle. She reassured Steven and appreciated his sincerity about the situation while he was hesitant to tell Nelly about his two children.

Nelly and Steven were shocked as they rolled their suitcases into their five-star hotel in Jamaica in the first look clip for tonight’s episode.

She remarked to the cameras while posing on the beach, “I’ve never stayed there. It’s gorgeous.” The hotel staff included chocolate-covered strawberries in their room with a few presents.

She said, “I can’t say no to a chocolate-covered strawb,” before Steven jokingly said, “I’ll give you one in a minute.”

Later, Nelly added, “I’m really happy that I’m on my honeymoon with Steven.” We kind of seem to have been dating for a while. We don’t really feel like complete strangers.

When Steven inquired, “Do we actually need to leave the room?” the couple were speechless when they saw their bedroom. before they exchanged a kiss, Nelly saying, “I think not.”

Steven gushed about his new partner, saying, “The feeling is growing since the wedding. The entire journey so far has definitely exceeded my expectations. I believe Nelly and I are a perfect match right now.

The two were clearly head over heels for each other as they exchanged endless kisses before returning to the beach, as the video showed them enjoying a quick kayaking session.

Will the two become stronger as they progress? Viewers will have to wait to see what has happened to the (so far) happy couple since the show has only been broadcast for two days.

Band get up to give intimate pub gig – then people realise who it is

A band who announced a huge show at Finsbury Park for next year delighted a pub crowd as they got up on stage to play an impromptu set for those in attendance at the venue

A legendary band, known for their numerous hits and having opened for Liam Gallagher in the past, were spotted playing a surprise gig in a London pub on the same day they announced a massive Finsbury Park show. The band, who are set to play a huge concert of their own next year, also revealed a new single and an album due for release.

The band confirmed not just the colossal Finsbury Park gig, but also a new single and an album, Act III, set to hit the shelves next year. To promote it, Kasabian made a surprise appearance in a local pub. Their impromptu pub performance has since gone viral, with footage showing the crowd bouncing along to a stripped-back set from the Serge Pizzorno-led group.

Fans have been quick to commend the band for their intimate gig, held on the same day as their Finsbury Park announcement.

A post on X reads: “Kasabian celebrating their massive Finsbury Park show announcement with a gig in a local London pub tonight.” The band were seen performing a pared-down version of their hit song, Fire.

One fan lauded the performance, writing: “Serge becoming the frontman is the best thing that happened to Kasabian. His energy is just something else.”

Another added: “Few bands could rock a pub like that.” While a third shared: “Acoustic Fire” followed by a face with hearts for eyes emoji.

Alongside the announcement of their show next year, the band also unveiled their new album, Act III. A new track, Hippie Sunshine, has also been released to promote Act III.

Pizzorono, the frontman who stepped into Tom Meighan’s shoes in 2020, has opened up about the inspiration behind their new track.

He said: “The track is about the restless energy of hyper individuals who struggle to slow down and face reality, searching instead for the illusion of escape.”

He continued: “It captures the fleeting moment where everything feels light and limitless, yet beneath it lies a deep sense of disconnection, something both beautiful and tragic.”

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Pizzorono revealed that being part of Kasabian and creating music now is more thrilling than ever before.

He shared: “Everything at this point is on pure instinct, but I’m picking up the guitar every day and it’s making magic. The guitar is a huge part of where I am at the moment.

“The world just excites me, you know? I get up and I’m excited by what is possible, and I think that keeps things fresh when we’re nine albums in.

Cheryl slams stalker who left son Bear ‘terrified’ as he’s handed lifetime restraining order

Cheryl Tweedy’s stalker has been jailed for 12 months — and handed a fresh lifetime restraining order.

Daniel Bannister, 50, left the ex-Girls Aloud singer “stunned” and “terrified” when he turned up at her Buckinghamshire home for a fourth time in June, Reading Magistrates court heard.

He was sentenced to one year in prison today after being found guilty of breaching a previous restraining order. It is the third jail term handed to Bannister over his attempts to contact Cheryl, 42.

Sentencing, His Honour Judge Blake said: “You pose a high risk of reoffending and harm. Appropriate punishment can only be by immediate custody.

“You’ve shown little regard to Tweedy’s welfare.

“You need to draw a line under this behaviour otherwise you will find yourself returning to custody for longer periods.”

Cheryl did not attend court. But in a victim impact statement read by prosecution barrister Leandra Smith, the singer said she was “stunned” when Bannister turned up at her home near Chalfont, Bucks, for a fourth time on the evening of June 19 this year.

She added: “He’s been sentenced twice for this unwanted and scary behaviour toward me.

“Every time I leave my property I have to constantly look over my shoulder.

“No person should feel this way. The fear goes when he’s in prison.

“It’s had a huge impact — I have a young child to protect. It has made my young child scared.

“I have had to rely on security, family and friends for support.

“Why should I have to move because of Daniel’s behaviour? It’s unacceptable, terrifying and having a detrimental impact.”

Defending, Mr Allen Wellington said Bannister had shown “no violence or threat of violence” towards Ms Tweedy.

Bannister, who was convicted of manslaughter in 2012, was previously jailed for 16 weeks in March after returning to the singer’s home in December last year, breaching a restraining order.

He had previously been given a four-month jail term for targeting the star’s home.

The court heard how Bannister attended the address in January 2024, rang the intercom and said: “It’s Daniel, I’ve come to get Cheryl.”

And he returned again in July asking for a glass of wine.

Bannister, a former figure skater, denies having any mental health issues.

Cheryl, previously known as Cheryl Cole, was married to former Arsenal, Chelsea and England footballer Ashley Cole.

They divorced more than a decade ago.
