JENNIE BOND: ‘I finally have sympathy for Prince Harry – royals were wrong about this’

With the Royal Family out in force today at the Cenotaph for Remembrance Sunday, Prince Harry, who served in Afghanistan, was not among them

As the nation fell silent today to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, it was led by the Royal Family. King Charles took the lead by laying the first wreath at the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday, followed by Prince William as Queen Camilla and the Princess of Wales looked on.

But not among them was one royal who served for 10 years in the Army, completing two tours of duty in Afghanistan – Prince Harry. Instead, he carried out a series of Remembrance-related events last week in Toronto, while also releasing a personal essay.

In the piece, titled “The Bond, The Banter, The Bravery: What it means to be British – By Prince Harry”, the duke acknowledged that although he “currently” lives in the US, he reflects that “Britain is, and always will be, the country I proudly served and fought for”.

He described Remembrance as “not simply a minute’s silence” but “a call to collective responsibility”. And for former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond, Harry’s words were very telling. She explained to the Mirror : “The word that stood out for me in that essay was ‘currently’.

“Harry said ‘although I may currently live in the United States’…..which does suggest that he doesn’t yet see his move there as necessarily permanent.

“There’s obviously a lot about his homeland that he misses: a pint of beer, a cup of tea, the banter of the mess. But you can be nostalgic about a past life — and still be happy in your new one. And I think Harry is genuinely happy in California with his wife and children. For now.”

Harry has not taken part at events at the Cenotaph since 2019 after he and Meghan quite the UK and royal life in 2020. He was said to be “saddened and disappointed” not to have had a wreath laid on his behalf at the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday that year.

When he stepped down as a working royal, Harry was stripped of his military posts, including his role as Captain General of the Royal Marines.

It was reported at the time Harry’s wreath had been made but after his request to have it laid at the Cenotaph was refused, it laid unused in a box at the Royal British Legion’s Kent HQ. In the biography Finding Freedom, it is claimed his request was denied because he was no longer a “frontline royal”.

And Jennie added: “Harry was hurt to the quick when he was told a wreath could not be laid at the Cenotaph on his behalf, after he stepped back as a working royal. His Army days were some of the most important of his life, and I do have some sympathy with him over this.

“I don’t see what harm it could possibly have done to allow him, albeit remotely, to pay tribute to his fellow comrades in arms. So now he is doing it his way: flying to Canada to meet veterans and support military charities.

“And I think he is playing a valuable role in doing so he should simply have shifted his visit by a few days to be there closer to Remembrance Day itself — and avoid the clash with William.

“I’m sure that he would jump at the chance to be part of the commemorations at the Cenotaph— but while the rift with William continues, that day is a very long way off.”

Davina McCall’s rage over breast cancer diagnosis

Davina McCall revealed on Friday that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer after finding a lump in her breast and then undergoing a lumpectomy

Davina McCall has spoken about the rage she felt when she was diagnosed with breast cancer just a year on from having brain surgery. She recalled that she was “f***ing stamping her feet” with anger as she spoke to her partner Michael Douglas about her disgnosis.

The 58-year-old revealed on via Instagram Friday that had been diagnosed with breast cancer. Since the diagnosis, she has had a biopsy and the cancer was removed in a lumpectomy just weeks ago.

During a Dine With Davina charity event, the star admitted she was angry over the disease as it was just a year since she had brain tumour surgery.

Davina said: “I got really f*****g angry. And you know me, I’m a pacifist – I don’t really get angry – I’m like Tigger. I’m just always happy.

“I was like: ‘Are you f******g joking? What the f**k! Are you serious? I was keeping it all in and Michael one day looked at me and he said: ‘Stop. I can see what you’re doing. You’re not going there.’ He said: ‘Let’s talk about it’ – I said: ‘I’m fine.'”

She added: “He said: ‘You’re not fine’. I was like: ‘No, no, I’m fine. Honestly.’ I’m not f*****g fine, that’s why I’m f*****g mad. He just sat and he came and watched me and I was f*****g stamping my feet. And it felt so good.”

The TV presenter said that she caught the cancer early but will still require five days of radiotherapy in January as an “insurance policy” to remain cancer free.

Taking to Instagram to share the news, Davina said: “I just wanted to tell you that I have had breast cancer. I found a lump a few weeks ago, and it came and went.”

She added: “So I had a biopsy. I found out it was indeed breast cancer, and I had it taken out in a lumpectomy nearly three weeks ago … It was very, very small, so I got it very, very early, which is incredibly lucky, but I am so relieved to have had it removed, and to know that it hasn’t spread.”

Davina also said she had “dense breasts”, which is a risk factor in developing breast cancer and makes it harder to detect.

The star went on to thank everybody at the Royal Marsden hospital who treated her as well as her “brilliant kids”. She continued: “An extra special thanks to Michael – it’s been a lot. I was very angry when I found out but I let go of that and I feel in a much more positive place now.”

She explained that she managed to find the lump when she was at the ITV Lorraine studio. She said she was in the toilets where there were posters urging people to check their breasts and that’s when she found it.

Davina’s health setback comes almost a year after the TV star was diagnosed with a rare benign brain tumour which required neurosurgery. The surgery on the colloid cyst proved to be successful and recent scans showed no sign of recurrence.

Alan Carr ‘saved friend’s life’ after fending off attacker armed with knife

Alan Carr bravely fended off a man brandishing a knife in a terrifying attack that left his friend Cleo Rocos admitting that he had ‘saved her life’ with his bravery

Celebrity Traitors winner Alan Carr “saved” a friend’s life after chasing off an armed attacker. Actor Cleo Rocos – known for her role on The Kenny Everett Television Show – recalled the terrifying moment he fended off the assailant during their holiday to Morocco together.

Cleo, 63, revealed that the pair had been on a night out in Marrakesh, when she was grabbed by her arm by a strange man who then pulled out a knife. Speaking about the horrifying incident she explained how she initially thought he was joking as the scene unfolded.

She said: “I pushed him away but he grabbed me tighter and, in really bad English, he said he wanted to be with me. We didn’t think he was being serious but then he pulled a knife out. It was probably about 10 inches long.”

Talking to The Sun Cleo then explained how Alan, 49, sprung into action and remained “surprisingly calm” despite the unfolding terrifying predicament they were in. He then placed himself between her and the attacker as he set about diffusing the situation.

She explained further: “Most people would have been terrified, but Alan was surprisingly calm. He pulled me to the other side of him, so he was standing between me and the man, and he said, ‘Don’t be so rude’.

“Before the man could react, he slapped the knife out of his hand. The man wasn’t expecting that and I was shocked. We walked off at a pace and we kept looking behind us wondering if this man was going to come at us again with the knife.”

She then pointed out that Alan added, “had really knocked the wind out of” the attacker as they made their escape. She said: “He didn’t punch him or anything but he disarmed him and he was so brave in the way he handled it.”

Cleo then admitted she owed her life to him for his brave actions as things could have turned out very differently for the pair had he not intervened and helped her. She said: “That night could have gone terribly wrong, but Alan dealt with the situation so decisively – he literally saved my life.”

On Thursday (6 November), Alan became the first winner of The Celebrity Traitors after an eventful series as he convinced fellow players Nick Mohammed and David Olusoga that he was a Faithful.

He then dramatically revealed that he had in fact been a Traitor since the start of the competition.

The popular TV personality has donated his £87,500 prize winnings to Neuroblastoma UK. The charity is dedicated to supporting and providing vital help for children with a rare form of cancer.

Alan has been a patron of the charitable organisation for nine years. He was previously praised by the charity for his “commitment, compassion and drive to bring hope to children and families facing this aggressive cancer.”

Joe Marler ‘backstabbed’ claim made as England team reveal what Traitors star is really like

Former England prop Joe Marler became a fan favourite on the first season of Celebrity Traitors but was ousted during the final

One of Joe Marler’s former England rugby team-mates claimed he was “backstabbed” in the Celebrity Traitors final. Marler made it to the last episode of the reality TV show before being banished by his fellow players.

The 35-year-old, who retired from international rugby in November of last year, was one of 19 celebrities chosen to participate in the first series of the BBC programme. Marler was elected as one of the Faithful, whose job it was to discover and out a trio of Traitors.

Having cut an outspoken figure throughout the show, Marler made it to the final four alongside Ted Lasso actor Nick Mohammed, with whom he had made a pact and formed a close bond.

But Mohammed changed his mind at the last second and his decisive vote banished Marler, leaving chat show host Alan Carr to claim all of the £87,500 charity prize as a remaining Traitor.

Marler’s former England team-mates were taken aback when watching the show’s final as a group. Second-row Alex Coles spoke ahead of their win against Fiji about the programme and what Marler is truly like behind the scenes.

“We were all watching in the team room. Joe seemed to have read it perfectly and he had Nick onside and it was all going swimmingly,” said Coles.

“I guess they edited it to make you think it was all going to go exactly to plan and then the rug was pulled right out underneath him. We all expected that he was actually going to do really well if he was given a bit of time for people to get to know him.

“Joe’s a very charismatic person, he’s got a great sense of humour and it’s nice to see a different side of a rugby player being shown to the general public.

“We’re all really pleased for him. Shame he got backstabbed at the end, but that’s the way the game goes I guess. He’s shown his character, his personality and I’m sure off the back of it he will do really well if he wants to stay in that media space.”

As expected, Marler holds no hard feelings towards Mohammed after the dramatic final round of voting. The pair embraced when contestants reunited and speaking on Saturday Kitchen he broke his silence about the change of heart.

“He [Mohammed] didn’t stick to my plan. He went with his gut, which was a shame,” admitted Marler. “But I still was so in love with him.

“Because that little dicky bow, his little face, the three little love hearts he put by my name… Although in that moment, I was heartbroken.'”

Marler also struck up a friendship with comedian Joe Wilkinson on the show. He added: “He’s one of the funniest blokes I’ve come across, and I just fell in love with him, also really intelligent.”

Kelly Brook to recreate Myleene Klass show moment on I’m A Celeb

The 2025 series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! is set to hit our screens next weekend with plenty of famous faces entering the jungle

Kelly Brook is set to recreate Myleene Klass’ iconic show moment on the 2025 series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! The former Playboy model was spotted at the airport this week as she heads to Australia for the new series.

It’s been predicted that the star could recreate Myleene’s iconic moment in 2006 where she showered in a white bikini. The moment has become one to remember over the years as it’s often referenced to, even two decades later.

Kelly is no stranger to showing off her stunning figure as she forged a career as a lingerie model and Page Three girl for The Daily Star.

It’s been said that she has packed plenty of swimwear in order to create her own memorable shower scene. A source told The Sun: “The only way to get clean in the jungle is by using the jungle shower and Kelly is going to have her moment.

“Kelly is a pro at posing in swimwear and knows how to work camera angles. She’s comfortable with her figure after years of modelling.”

They added: “Over the years, jungle babes have used their shower moment to catapult them to super stardom, but Kelly is one of the original lingerie models and can’t wait for her time to shine.”

Myleene’s white bikini moment was recreated back in 2023 when she returned to the jungle for the all-star series I’m A Celebrity South Africa.

Myleene previously revealed that the first white bikini she wore in 2006 sold for a huge £7,500 after the show despite purchasing it for just £40.

Kelly said back in 2018 that there would be “a million” other things she would rather do like working in her local pub than appear in the jungle.

Speaking on her Heart radio show, she said: “I don’t want to eat eyeballs or sheep testicles and all the things they have to eat on there,’ she said on her Heart radio show. Even if I had a huge tax bill and I had to pay it really urgently, I still wouldn’t do it.”

Plenty of other well-known names have been thrown in the mix of who is entering the jungle. Also potentially heading down under is Ruby Wax who is known for starring in TV show Girls On Top and film Shock.

Spandau Ballet bass player Martin Kemp may also be on our screens as well as footballer Alex Scott and TV star Vogue Williams.

Netflix fan ‘absolutely hooked’ on ‘best release of the year’ after just one episode

A streaming fan has shared a TV show you might want to add to your watch-list. Luke Eccleston said it was ‘so good’ he was ‘hooked’ from the very first episode, and binged the whole thing

Although it can feel like you’re endlessly scrolling through Netflix trying to find your next binge-watch, the streaming service is always adding new titles for members to enjoy. But with so much out there, it can be difficult to know what’s worth watching.

If you’re now on the lookout for the next thing to add to your watch-list, you’re in luck. Luke Eccleston regularly shares his recommendations on his @EccyReviews TikTok page. Luke recently told his 352.8k TikTok followers they needed to “stop whatever you’re doing” because Netflix has dropped a new series which he says “might be one of the best shows of the year”.

The show, which is based on a true story, is called The Monster of Florence, which is a four-part limited series. Explaining the plot, he said: “It follows a real life case, serial killer, who murdered couples in their car over 17 years. A total of eight different couples.

“Now, trust me when I tell you the first episode will have you absolutely hooked. It is so good. Made me binge the entire thing and I honestly couldn’t recommend it enough.”

Luke said this series just “can’t go under the radar” and begged “everyone” to watch it. The Monster of Florence has a score of 62% on Rotten Tomatoes, and the description reads: “Follows the case of Il Mostro di Firenze, Italy’s first serial killer, who eluded justice while terrorising the nation for decades.”

Content cannot be displayed without consent

Nicknamed Il Monstro di Firenze, or the Monster of Florence, the killer targeted and shot couples who were parked in secluded spots on the outskirts of the city between 1968 and 1985. The identity of the killer remains unknown, and it remains one of Italy’s biggest mysteries.

The Netflix series, which was created by Leonardo Fasoli and Stefano Sollima, starts with the murder of a young couple who were found murdered in their car in 1982. It causes the police to reopen a case from 1968 with striking similarities.

The series continues to explore the case with the help of investigators, journalists, and followers suspects. Director Sollima said: “There was not a single perpetrator who has been sentenced for all 16 murders”.

He added: “We decided to tell the story from the beginning, when investigators started connecting the dots and realised this might be the act of a serial killer.”
