Bladeless hot and cool tower fan under £100 rivals Dyson’s £550 best-seller(Image: Amazon)
We’re all looking for ways to keep our homes warm without paying a fortune on heating bills this winter, and while buying a portable heater may sound like an expensive choice, it doesn’t have to be.
Unlike Dyson’s best-selling Purifier Hot+Cool HP1 Purifying fan heater, which currently retails for £549.99 on their website, this Hot and Cool Tower Fan from Amazon is not only eco-friendly but costs less than £100, saving shoppers a huge £450.

Much like the Dyson, this tower fan features a bladeless design that ensures it’s a top choice for households with pets or young children, who don’t want to get hurt when the fan is running. Plus, the lack of blades contributes to its quiet running, which shoppers have been quick to praise.
This rotating tower fan comes armed with a handy remote control, so you can operate the heat and fan settings from anywhere in the room without needing to move, making it especially handy for when you’re curled up and comfy.
The fan boasts eight speeds, so you can easily customise the airflow and temperature as you wish. With a 1400W Power supply, this Amazon fan offers great airflow for both 80° wide and long-range heat distribution, promising to warm the room quickly and evenly.
Boasting a similar design to Dyson’s iconic hot and cold fan, this Amazon pick comes armed with a 1—to 8-hour timer. This allows you to easily set the cooling or heating to run as you doze off to sleep without needing to keep the fan on all night long.
The fan’s shell is made of ABS refractory materials, and the gadget only weighs 2.5kg, which means it can be easily moved from one room to another.

A “long-standing” problem that many women of color face is brought up again as Shakira Khan bravely speaks out about her experience in the Love Island villa

Many viewers believe familiar patterns continue in the villa(Image: ITV/Shutterstock)
Love Island’s Shakira Khan has reignited a conversation around the treatment of women of colour in ITV’s hit reality TV show, Love Island.
Speaking on the We Need To Talk podcast with host Paul C. Brunson, Shakira explained how she, Toni Laites and Yasmin Pettet labelled themselves the “outcasts” after realising they’d been sidelined by the main group in the villa.
There is a pattern here, which I don’t think anyone wants to talk about: women of color, she said, “but you could also add Billykiss to that, Malisha, Andrada, and Emma.”
It wasn’t about desire, according to Shakira. She claims that friendship dynamics contributed to her being an “outcast.” She explained that anyone who threatened the other group was systematically spies out. The outcasts banded together, they said.

Speaking from a similar experience of being sidelined and ignored, season 4’s Samira Mighty recently revealed what it felt like to be a Black woman in the villa. “It didn’t bother me at all, until the guys started coming in and I wasn’t getting picked,” she said.
“I remember speaking to one of the producers and saying ‘do you think it’s because I’m Black?’” she recalled on ITV The Rundown. While the producer was taken aback, Samira recognises the pattern that often appears in TV. “Why is it sometimes the ethnic people are pushed to the side and not even looked at?” she asked.
Seven years after Samira’s season, questions remain unanswered. Kaz Kamwi described how one of the first cast members, Kaz Kamwi, quickly realized she wasn’t everyone’s “type on paper.”
“The last thing I wanted was to be a box-ticker and it was hard to not take the rejection personally. Aside from being ‘petite’, I just wasn’t fitting in with what the guys were looking for ‘on paper’,” she told Grazia.
Kaz acknowledged that the weight of that rejection increased as the days and weeks progressed. She said, “I worry about the bigger impact of this and where the real damage can be done.” It sends the impression that Black women might not be desirable.
Without prior authorization, content cannot be displayed.
Another islander, Rachel Finni from season 7, said she felt she was placed on the show “to make them look good”, being the first Black bombshell in seven years. She told Grazia that people are entitled to be attracted to who they are, but believes the producers should’ve put people in the villa that were attracted to her.
Make sure there are some guys there who are also drawn to Black girls and Asian girls if you have a lot of guys who are attracted to blonde hair and blue eyes because it’s just a matter of ticking a box. Let people know what type of person you are, and make sure to use it in a positive way, she said.
It appears that today’s Love Island Island is more diverse than ever. Mimii Ngulube and Josh Oyinsan, the show’s first Black couple, won last year, making it a milestone in British history. However, despite having better representation than it has ever been, diversity and equity are both shown repeatedly in the reality TV dating landscape.
When it comes to Love Island UK, “We] are having the exact conversation every year. They don’t even entertain Black women who are attracted to them in the villa. Talk less of the amount of screen time available, according to a show fan.

Another person claimed that the show’s UK version is completely abandoned because of how it treats Black women, while adding, “I think a big reason why I don’t] watch Love Island UK is how they are treating the black women.” My girls should be pursued and further desired in the USA version, which is just better for my mental health.
And representation alone isn’t enough, as the experiences of Shakira, Samira, Kaz, and Rachel show, for women of color entering the Love Island villa. Fair treatment also matters.

The Mirror reached out to ITV for comment. They said: “Love Island’s only stipulation is that applicants are over 18, single and looking for love. Our application and casting process is inclusive to all and we are always aiming to reflect the age and diversity of our audience on the show.”
Sean Bean, the star of the Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones, is praised as a local hero as he spearheads a campaign to deter development plans for greenbelts.

Sean Bean has become a local hero after taking over “valiant and impassioned campaign” to save greenbelt land from development plans after the original campaign leader tragically died.
The Game of Thrones star, 66, has joined forces with other local residents of Handsworth, Sheffield, as part of the ‘Save S13 Greenbelt – The Sapphire McCarthy campaign’. Together, they seek to halt the plans of the local council to build 1638 homes in two areas of greenbelt land.
Sapphire was concerned that the proposed scheme would sagutter her “dream views” when she launched the campaign. Sean paid tribute to her and praised the “valiant and impassioned campaign” after her sadly passing away at the age of 39.
The campaigners claim that a significant development in Waverley’s immediate vicinity has already rendered health services and schools in jeopardy because of the increased pollution and overcrowding of the local infrastructure.
After raising £10, 000 to help with the housing plans challenge, Sean praised the community’s efforts and unity. He claimed that, despite receiving hundreds of objections and no assistance from the council, “MP Clive Betts has been the only source of assistance,” according to the Daily Mail.
It is amazing how the residents have come together and how they have managed to cram all this armor around them in such a short amount of time, and shows that we mean business. We are not letting that go. We won’t stop, and we will carry this out.
He noted that his own childhood love for the greenbelt and that the green areas designated for development have a significant impact on residents’ mental health.
The actor said, “I grew up in that area, and all of my friends and families from that area, which was the heart and heart of the area where we explored the countryside, laughed at, and played games, were very important to me. Because it is the only greenery in the area, it has long been a draw for children to grow up and encounter wildlife; it has since been a blessing to Handsworth and the surrounding communities. If we lost it, it would be devastating.
If you don’t have that space around you mentally and psychologically, it’s harmful because you become isolated, blinkered, and very claustrophobic, according to the saying “you have to have greenery, it’s calming influence, good for your health, and good for your mind.”
Sean continued, “The people’s land is their land.” What will the council do if they just flog it and keep the money? The council owns it, though. Then, it will be gone; they will have some of the money while we have nothing. He compared the area to Wimbledon Common in London and Central Park in New York, both of which are renowned for their advantages for both mental and physical health.
Cheryl Hague, a different campaigner, stated: “We are delighted to have Sean’s support on this important campaign and will continue this fight with the planning inspector meetings that will be held next week.
The planning inspectors of the government now have to decide whether the housing development plans are fair and robust after the Sheffield City Council voted through them in May. On Monday (September 29), a hearing will take a decision. 1.5 million homes have been promised by the Labour government.
According to the latest official statistics, homelessness in England is at a record high, with the number of rough sleepers increasing by 20% in just a year. Analysis from the Financial Times showed that one in every 200 households in the UK is experiencing homelessness, placing this country at the top of the global league of table for highest rate of homelessness.
The government also pledged to prioritise social and affordable housing plans, and promised to build 300,000 homes as part of what former housing secretary Angela Rayner called the “social rent revolution”. Social housing schemes are designed to build properties that can help alleviate homelessness by ensuring such housing is genuinely affordable and linked to local incomes.
It is unknown if the S13 greenbelt developments are part of this pledge, but the council are part of a coalition calling for a “green and decent homes programme”. In May, they said the coalition believes England’s council housing needs to be modernised and more funding for new council homes should be put in place.

The influencer, who inspired millions with her cancer journey, tragically passed after more than a decade of battling leukemia. Zuza openly shared health updates on instagram and TikTok, along with “get ready with me” videos and dances with friends.
The Wisconsin-based influencer and her family started documenting her journey with cancer on the Instagram account @Zuzas_Way_To_Healing in 2020. The account gained almost 2million followers.

“She lived 11 of her 14 years with a relentless cancer, yet lived more fully and gratefully than most. Her being changed us forever, and her dying will too.”
Zuza was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, which starts in the bone marrow and moves into the blood. Though most cases affect adults, Zuza was diagnosed when she was only three-years-old. She had beaten the illness five times before died, having undergone bone marrow transplants and multiple rounds of chemotherapy.
In her final videos, Zuza opened up about the pain she was in. She explained how tough her illness was. “I’m going to be honest, lately my health has not been the best,” she said.
“Physically and mentally. I have been in so much pain lately. I’m constantly on pain medicine.”

She spoke about how “grateful” she was ( Jam Press)
In her last post, she said having cancer made her more “grateful” for the things others take for granted: “Being diagnosed with cancer has made me deeply grateful for the everyday things that many people often take for granted.” These included food, friendships, family, and even the fun of experimenting with different hairstyles thanks to chemotherapy.
After her death, Zuza’s family said what made her life “beautiful” was her ability to “face the heardest circumstances, like disease, and still live fully”.
“It is no coincidence to us that the last video she made captures what she was grateful for a testament to a life filled with both beauty and suffering.
“More than anything, she wanted to be a normal, healthy kid. But what made her life so beautiful was how she learned to face the hardest circumstances, like her disease, and still live fully.”

Love Island star lands starring role in ‘iconic casting’ for Legally Blonde revival(Image: Western Mail)
Love Island star Amber Davies has hit a huge milestone in her career as she announced her new theatre role. The TV personality took to her page to announce she landed the lead role of Elle Woods in the Legally Blonde musical with a short clip of her dressed up in the character’s iconic outfit.
“Omigod omigod you guys!!” the post, which was also shared on the musical’s page, said. “Amber Davies is Elle Woods. Bend and snap up your tickets now.” Fans and friends were over the moon with the news, with them rushing to the comment section to praise the TV personality.
“Literally sobbing!!! My perfect Elle!!! Cannot WAIT,” her sister commented while Carrie Hope Fletcher posted: “ICONIC CASTING. Yes yes yes!”

One said: “Say whaaat?!! Born to play this part babe. Huge congrats,” and another added: “YES AMAZING! @amb_d you look absolutely incredible! Snaps.”
After seeing the support from fans, Amber took to her Stories to say she burst into tears and added: “I am so overwhelmed with this response. I promise you Elle is in such safe hands with me. I’m so excited to be touring her. She’s a dream role, you know.
“I’m so excited to tour her around the UK and Ireland. I’m so grateful, I’m speechless. I love you all so much and see you next year!”
It comes after actress Amber launched a furious tirade at a ‘selfish’ audience member who wrecked her West End show. She was appearing in The Great Gatsby Musical in London and had a lengthy rant after someone in the stalls decided to film the production.
Amber explained in detail while recording from your seat is such an issue – and it doesn’t just irritate those who pay to see the performance. Amber, who has also played Vivian Ward in the stage show of Pretty Woman, took to Instagram to make her point, and the Welsh star didn’t hold back.
She told the woman filming to think of others as well as those performing – and says she’ll get security to act the next time she sees a person doing it.
“This is a PSA,” she said in a video on the social media platform. “The closer you are to the stage when you’re watching a show the more obvious it is when you’re filming. This is the entire stalls. If you’re filming in the stalls we can see you!
“From someone who’s on stage, I just wanna tell you a little bit about what we see. So we see like a dark canvas and outlines of people’s heads. If you’re filming, the reflection from the lights bounce straight back the back of your iPhone onto us on stage. So it is the one thing we can see.
“So to the woman filming New Money tonight, you distracted absolutely everybody on that stage. And not only that, it takes us out of the Gatsby world because you’re filming and you’ve basically ruined that moment for everybody else who was watching the show tonight.”
