Frankie Bridge’s £39 River Island skirt that ‘can be restyled so many ways over summer’

Frankie Bridge is one of the UK’s most stylish women, and is always serving up major fashion inspiration – and this outfit she recently wore is from River Island

TV personality and fashion favourite Frankie Bridge has once again proven why she’s a go-to for warm-weather style inspiration. In a recent Instagram post, she debuted a look that she hailed as ‘perfect’ for a city break – and best of all, every piece is from high street favourite River Island.

Giving us all the Italian Riviera vibes, Frankie stepped out in River Island’s White A-Line Poplin Midi Skirt, which costs £39. White cotton skirts dominated Instagram in summer 2024, and are very much back for 2025, making it a smart investment for anyone looking to build a capsule warm-weather wardrobe.

With its elasticated hem and classic midi length, the skirt is as comfortable as it is elegant, made from 100% cotton making it ideal for beating the heat. As we’ve learned from influencers over the last 12 months, it really is a versatile summer staple, with Frankie noting: “The skirt can be restyled SO many ways over summer.”

Elsewhere, New Look has this White Pleated Midi Skirt for £29.99, while Mango’s flared cotton skirt is £45.99, available in white, black or red. At Boden, the Double Cloth Smocked Skirt comes in at £66, but for something more budget friendly, M&S’s Pure Cotton Shirred Midi A-Line Skirt is under £30. But the fact that so many high street retailers are stocking them cements them as a go-to trend for the season.

The 36-year-old paired the skirt with a Black Sleeveless Textured Trim Bandeau Top for £26. The beaded notch detail and side split hem add an elevated twist to the minimalist bandeau cut, which is an insanely sought-after silhouette this year.

Frankie shared her thoughts on the top, saying: “Love the top and the detailing.” She added: “If you’re on a city break then this is the perfect outfit. Stay cool in the heat but still look put together.”

Accessorising the look, she added a Black Mini Raffia Cross Body Tote Bag featuring a front flap with popper fastening, gold branding detail, and a convenient crossbody strap, as well as a pair of Black Toe Thong Wedge Heeled Sandals (£38), ideal for the petite 5’3” presenter with their 12cm heel.

Completing the look with the retailer’s £14 Black Cat Eye Slim Chain Sunglasses, Frankie commented: “I feel very chic in this, it’s a nice little dinner outfit.” And we couldn’t agree more, with both capsule wardrobe staples prime for styling with basically anything you already own.

Frankie isn’t the only ex-Saturdays singer that’s a fan of River Island, though. Rochelle Humes wore the brand’s Blue Seam Detail Balloon Leg Jeans, priced at £49 for an episode of This Morning last month. She told her fans: “There’s a new rule, we didn’t used to wear jeans but we can wear jeans now. This is amazing news to me. So these are River Island, they’re like a nice barrel cut.”

BBC Top of the Pops presenter who was as famous as Zoe Ball on ‘what went wrong’

Sarah Cawood was a regular face on our TV screens in the 1990s, but now she’s living a very different life away from the cameras

Sarah Cawood was one of the biggest TV hosts of the ’90s and a key presenter on Top of The Pops. But her life has changed dramatically two decades after her big break.

Sarah’s first major role was in children’s television for Nickelodeon in the ’90s, and just two years later she secured a presenting job on Channel 4’s The Girlie Show alongside Sara Cox. The programme ran for two series and followed a magazine format, featuring interviews, live music and stunts.

The show aired at the late ‘post-pub’ slot of 11pm on Fridays, aiming to be edgier than its competitors and capitalising on the ‘ladette’ culture that defined the decade. She then joined the revamped Live and Kicking programme for its final two years on air.

Her most significant role came when she landed a spot on Top of The Pops. After her stint ended, she went on to present various mini-series and one-offs, including co-commentating the Eurovision semi-finals in 2007, 2009 and 2010.

However, around this time, many of the big presenting opportunities began to dwindle, with Sarah joining Heart East Anglia’s breakfast show team for a year in 2014 before leaving to focus on caring for her children, reports the Daily Record.

In 2022 Sarah was diagnosed with breast cancer – but thankfully she was treated and given the all-clear. Earlier this year, the star opened up about her health struggles on social media, expressing fears about her breast cancer returning.

“This is the reality of anyone who has had any kind of cancer,” she said. “I never struggled with health anxiety before but post-breast cancer it’s all-consuming and it wears me out a bit tbh.

“I have been feeling tired since the new year began and although it’s probably just life-ing, there’s always a niggling worry that it’s back.

“All I can do is carry on doing healthy things, moving my body, practising mindfulness and living each day with gratitude that I got to breathe again this morning.

Helen Skelton’s romance with Gethin Jones ramps up a notch with steamy move

Helen Skelton and Gethin Jones enjoyed a steamy afternoon out at the spa as their relationship heats up. The pair have been friends for years but things recently turned romantic

Helen Skelton’s romance with Gethin Jones has been heating up – as the pair enjoyed a steamy time away. The pair have become close and romance rumours have swirled around the pair.

Gethin brought Helen to a country house spa venue near his home and onlookers were shocked to see the pair so flirty and friendly in front of one another and in a public space. The pair have been friends for years but have got close in recent weeks.

The duo appear together on Morning Live, which airs every weekday morning on BBC One. Whilst their relationship was initially platonic, it soon blossomed and now it seems like the pair aren’t hiding their feelings.

“Gethin and Helen were all over each other. They are clearly super comfortable with each other and it wasn’t just like two friends hanging out,” a source told The Sun of their budding romance and trip to the spa.

“Helen was really laughing and smiling as they spent time together before heading off in the late afternoon.”

Just the other day, Helen discussed her friendships and close personal bonds on Morning Live – including with Gethin. She said to HELLO!: “Michelle [Ackerley] and Gethin [Jones] and I have all been friends for years and years. Gethin and I crossed over a lot at Blue Peter, so we’ve got a lot of the same reference points.

“Michelle and I used to flat share back in London so people say, ‘You’ve got a natural chemistry’, but we have known each other since we were in our twenties, starting out in telly. If you have to go to work and you like what you do and you do it with people that are like an extension of your family, then you’re very lucky and I definitely feel like that at Morning Live.”

The pair have been spotted at various events over the years together but it seems like things are heating up.

“It was very clear that Helen and Gethin were together as a couple at the event. They were with close friends of Helen’s and their connection was undeniable,” a source said of their budding romance.

Helen has remained coy about her relationship but recently, she posted a gushing tribute to Gethin after they completed a very special Comic Relief challenge alongside one another earlier this year.

“I don’t publicly say often enough how much love and respect I have for you my friend because I assume it is well known. But for the record you’re a legend and I am beyond grateful to have you by my side on the rink, the sofa and beyond,” she said, “I can gush.. he doesn’t read beyond one paragraph on an insta post.”

Black Sabbath admit they ‘don’t know’ how Ozzy Osbourne will perform again

Black Sabbath take to the stage in July and have confirmed rehearsals start this month but Ozzy’s input is not clear

Black Sabbath guitarist and rock icon Tony Iommi has admitted he “doesn’t know what’s going to happen” when Ozzy Osbourne tries to get back on stage next month with the band.

Ozzy and Black Sabbath will headline their final gig on July 5th at Villa Park in Birmingham, as part of an event titled “Back To The Beginning”.

This show will reunite the original band members – Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward – for the first time in 20 years.

The band played its “last” gig in 2017 in Birmingham with Osborne, guitarist Iommi and bassist Butler but without Ward on drums.

But last year Ozzy was not well enough to perform at the band’s Rock’N’Roll Hall Of Fame inauguration in America.

In a new interview ahead of the show Tony admitted he has “excitement mixed with fear” ahead of the show, whilst he also confirmed rehearsals are due to start this month.

He said: “This would be a big, monumental thing if it all comes good. The worrying thing for me is the unknown.

“We don’t know what’s going to happen. Normally, when we’d tour, we’d rehearse and run through the thing for a while, and it’s just us. But with this event there are so many other moving parts.”

He added: “You’re used to Ozzy running around, but he certainly won’t be doing that for this show. I don’t know if he’s going to be standing or sitting on a throne or what.”

Iommi and Ozzy have exchanged setlist wishlists, which will be consolidated in due course when they meet up in person.

Speaking to Music Week, Iommi said: “Once we start playing, then we’ll know we’re doing it.

“It’s always a worry, even when we did tours before, there’s always that build-up, and then it gets to the point that we do it and it’s OK.”

Ozzy, who is suffering from Parkinson’s disease, told last month how he has been having physical therapy and training with a trainer virtually living with him in Los Angeles in a bid to get him fit enough to perform on stage after a catalogue of illnesses.

Ozzy’s wife Sharon said: “Ozzy’s working with his therapist every single day. He’s doing really well, actually. Ozzy’s number one thing in life is his fans, so he’s working hard to be ready for them, to make this show the perfect way to end things.”

Ozzy’s wife also told Music Week(PLS REF) the celebration gig shows how well the band have endured through the years since they formed over 50 years ago. She said: “You’ve got to remember, this is a band that started in the ‘60s – and they’re still here,” marvels the manager. “A lot of the bands who started in the ‘60s are no longer alive, or operating as they used to.”

In May Ozzy admitted he is suffering huge self confidence and stage fright issues ahead of his summer UK farewell show – but has vowed “to give 120 percent”.

Speaking on his own radio show in America he said: “My head’s crazy. ADHD – I have that badly.

“I will have done the show and died a death before I even started my exercises. So I try and put it on the back burner.

“I’m not going up there saying ‘It’s going to be great. I’m really confident.’ “In my head I will have died on my ass. I remember being in f***ing Vegas one time being in the dressing room going, ‘I’m going to play. I’m going to die.’

“And I talked myself into blowing the gig. It was only two f***ing songs.

“Sharon goes, ‘just don’t think about it.’

“But all I can say is I’m giving 120%. If my God wants me to do the show. I’ll do it. Sometimes if I start obsessing on the time, I’ll be insane by Friday. So I’m just taking it one day at a time.”

The Queen of Pop, Madonna, shared a few raunchy snaps on her social media, but not all of her followers were impressed with her caption

Madonna was blasted by fans for being a ‘hypocrite’ as she told them to ‘love the skin they’re in’ after sharing snaps of her latest raunchy photoshoot. The Material Girl icon, 66, took to her Instagram page to share several snaps of herself donning knickers and a white vest.

The singer styled her blonde locks in loose waves and rocked dark eyeshadow with simple makeup. She used a white flower as a prop as she pouted for the camera. In the caption, she wrote: “Love the Skin you’re in. Happy Pride,” along with the Pride flag and a blue heart emoji.

She also added the hashtag, Veronica Electronica, in reference to the remix album she’s releasing on July 25. The long-rumoured remix album is the accompaniment to her 1998 record, Ray of Light.

While many were in awe over the photoshoot, some branded her a ‘hypocrite’ for her use of filters in her images. One person said: “Love the skin you’re in but u use filters all the time lol.”

“And if you don’t love the skin you’re in, fill it full of injectables,” another said to the star while one fan simply commented: “Oh the irony.”

Others were quick to compliment the star, with one user writing: “The essence of a woman who continues to defy patterns, break barriers and reaffirm her place as a symbol of reinvention and freedom.”

“Wow beautiful,” one said while another commented: “It doesn’t matter who is in office because everybody know Madonna will forever be the queen of pop.”

Madonna recently showcased a brunette look on social media and revealed the motivation behind her recent decision to have the makeover.

She shared a series of selfies on her Instagram Story. She ditched her signature blonde hair in favour of going brunette in the photos. In one of the posts, she told her followers on the platform that there was a poignant reason being her sporting the new hairstyle.

The La Isla Bonita singer revealed to her followers that the look was inspired by her late mother Madonna Fortin, who died when the Vogue singer was five. The Grammy Award winner wrote over one of the photos: “I missed my Mother so I channeled her.”

Following her mother’s death, Madonna was raised by her father Silvio ‘Tony’ Ciccone, 93, and her late step-mother Joan Ciccone, who died aged 81 last year.

Joan, who had briefly been a housekeeper for the family, married father-of-six Tony in 1966, three years on from his first wife’s death.

Pete Wicks rages after Sam Thompson tells him about cafe you ‘can’t eat anything’ at

Pete Wickes couldn’t believe what he was hearing when podcast co-host and best mate Sam Thompson told him there’s a cafe you can go to where you can’t eat a morsel

They discussed the topic on their podcast (Image: instagram/@p_wicks01)

Pete Wicks, who found fame on The Only Way Is Essex, has been left raging after podcast co-host Sam Thompson, of Made In Chelsea fame, told him there’s a cafe in London where you can’t actually eat anything. When Sam told him this on their Staying Relevant podcast, the 37-year-old was left dumbfounded, wondering what the point is.

“So what do you eat?” Pete asked Sam, and the 32-year-old responded: “Nothing”. Pete continued: “So if you go for lunch, you’re just as hungry when you leave?” Sam then explained to Pete that you wouldn’t be going to this place for lunch, because it’s the Jellycat cafe.

“But why else would you go to a cafe other than to f**king eat something?” Pete fumed, unable to grasp the concept of the Jellycat cafe. Jellycats are plush toys known for their adorable faces. The company was founded in London in 1999 and has surged in popularity, with many adults and children collecting them.

For those, like Pete, who are not in the know, the Jellycat cafe was a pop-up store in London, and when you purchased a product from there, staff members would pretend to ‘cook’ the toy food item in front of you. Currently, there’s a fish and chip shop in Selfridges, London, where staff will do the same thing.

In other countries, there’s a Jellycat Diner Experience at FAO Schwarz, New York, and the Jellycat Pâtisserie experience on the 5th floor of Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann within the FAO Schwarz store.

Sam explained that you’d “go and pick up your burger, but it’s your Jellycat burger,” but Pete still couldn’t grasp “which bit you eat”.

“You don’t eat anything, it’s a toy,” Sam continued, which led Pete to fume: “So what’s she cooking?”

Things started to sound a little weird when Sam said: “Nothing. She’s pretending to cook the toy,” but anyone who has seen the Jellycat experiences in action will know how wholesome it is.

Pete was baffled about what “the point” was in pretending to cook the Jellycat, wondering why they can’t just put it in a bag.

“You coulda just picked the f**ker up and whacked it in your bag,” he seethed, saying that the staff pretending to cook something is silly.

“It’s the only way you can get it,” Sam shared, and Pete couldn’t believe you were “forced” to watch it.

Sam then revealed that their producer, Pippa, has been, and also owns around 30 to 40 Jellycats, and that seemed to be the final straw for Pete.

Sam then shared he has two, and Pete raged: “You’re an adult. I’m not going to a cafe so I can go and watch someone pretend to cook a toy, so I can take it home and say ‘ooh I picked myself up a nice new toy burger today and someone cooked it for me and pretended to put blueberry sauce all over my f**king toy pancake’. What’s the point? What is the point?”
