Maura Higgins has received a huge boost after being replaced from her presenting spot on Love Island USA. The reality TV star, 34, had found fame on the show herself and landed the spot of host of US Aftersun.

However, she now won’t be returning to the role but has something even better up her sleeve. She has been spending more and more time Stateside, and it appears to be paying off.

Maura has landed a major new show in her bid to break America. The Love Islander is competing in the upcoming series of The Traitors USA and will join the likes of Real Housewives Lisa Rinna, Porsha Williams, Dorinda Medley and Candiace Bassett.

She will rub shoulders with Taylor Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce’s mum Donna as well as Big Brother stars Ian Terry and Tiffany Mitchell. Survivor’s Rob Cesternino and Yam Yam Arocho have been named to take part alongside The Amazing Race winner Natalie Anderson.

The boost comes after Maura couldn’t return to Love Island USA due to conflicting schedules. She will be replaced by Sophie Monk, who is already familiar with how Love Island works due to being the host of the Australian version.

Love Island fans haven’t lost hope of Maura moving on from the series, however, as they think she could come back to host Aftersun for the second season of Love Island Games which films in Fiji later this year.

Maura got off to a tricky start this year as she was caught kissing married McFly singer Danny Jones at the BRIT Awards following her split from Pete Wicks. Danny went on to issue a grovelling apology to his wife, Georgia Horsley, and son, Cooper, seven, while Maura stayed silent.

She instead fled to the US to focus on a fashion shoot and later returned to attend the music festival Coachella in the California desert. Maura showed she was keen to keep working in the States, having rubbed shoulders with Kendall and Kylie Jenner, as well as Hailey Bieber.

Maura landed the role of social media host for Love Island USA as well as Love Island Games in 2023. A year later, she went on to present Love Island USA: Aftersun and became a hit with viewers.

It seems Maura is keen to continue to work in the US, as she has chosen to take part in their series of Celebrity Traitors instead of the UK. The BBC will air its first ever celebrity spin-off of the hit murder mystery series later this year.

Names including Kate Garraway, Alan Carr, Stephen Fry, Jonathan Ross and Paloma Faith are set to take part, as well as singer Cat Burns, actor Celia Imrie, singer and activist Charlotte Church, broadcaster Clare Balding, historian David Olusoga, rugby star Joe Marler and comedian Joe Wilkinson.

P Diddy’s shopping list for ‘king nights with women’ revealed by ex assistant

The trial of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has entered its 23rd day, and former assistant Jonathan Perez took to the stand to testify and detailed what he had purchased for the musician

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ former personal assistant, Jonathan Perez, testified about staff members setting up ‘king nights’ for the rapper, which he described as Diddy “going to a hotel to have private time with a female”. Perez, who worked for Diddy between December 2021 and September 2024, told the court that whichever assistant working in the evening would be the one setting up the “king night”.

According to Perez, he only set up five of the nights as he usually worked during the day. He went on to testify at Diddy’s trial, which has entered its 23rd day, how there was “a lot of packing materials” and “making sure that he would have everything he would need for 12 to 24 hours without having to bother anybody”.

Diddy, 55, is currently facing a number of serious charges, including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion and transportation to engage in prostitution.

He was arrested in September and strongly denies all allegations made against him. He has been in prison since his arrest, and a number of bail requests have been rejected.

The music mogul’s ex-assistant told the court that he brought food, liquor, music, red lights, condoms, lubricant, and sometimes honey, which he said “enhances the man’s libido”.

Perez said he sometimes went to sex stores to buy adult outfits and heels, paying with the company card of money he received from security.

According to the ex-assistant, who typically worked 9am to 9pm, Diddy had three or four personal assistants and added how Diddy’s chief of staff, Kristina Khorram, would make him aware of the “king nights” and the staff would get two hours to a day’s notice to set it up.

During Perez’s testimony, the jury were shown messages between Khorram, Perez and another assistant about setting up a hotel room for a “king nights”.

In another conversation shown to the jury, Khorram asked another assistant how cleanup of a “king’s night” was going. The assistant responded: “Slipped & fell twice”.

Messages sent by Perez to Diddy and “Jane”, Diddy’s ex-girlfriend using a pseudonym during the trial, on August 12, 2023, saw him speak about the hotel nights.

“Just left two candles and room phone in front of room door. I’m only 9 minutes away if y’all need anything,” he said.

Another message between Diddy’s assistant, chief of staff and another assistant saw him say he was heading to a store to buy outfits for Jane to wear.

The trial continues.

No Political Jokes In Springfield, Says Simpsons Creator Groening

Like many American families struggling for unity in the polarised United States, The Simpsons have decided to avoid political jokes, the creator of the series Matt Groening told AFP.

Despite the potential for storylines and humour, Groening ruled out venturing into America’s toxic politics for laughs.

“We don’t do political humour because political humour is very limited. It dates very quickly,” he said during an interview at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in the French Alps.

A Simpsons season takes at least six to nine months to produce, raising the risk of gags turning stale, Groening explained.

The show –- broadcast on US network Fox TV and on Disney Plus, which now owns the series –- has sometimes appeared to predict real events, such as Donald Trump’s election, which was first referenced in an episode in 2000.

It has also featured parodies in the past of a host of politicians from Bill Clinton to Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

“We just have to stay true to our characters, their spirit and their relationships. And when they face the sadness of the world, people feel briefly connected to them,” writer-producer Matt Selman told AFP.

Despite Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie remaining frozen in time since their debut in 1989, the writers have ensured the story lines move with the times.

A recent episode parodied artificial intelligence when a chatbot was asked to write the finale.

“In the plot of that episode, AI was given the job of writing the perfect finale. And of course, it just regurgitated and spat out all the other finales from all the other shows in very unoriginal and silly ways that of course would be terrible,” said Selman.

“It was our attempt to push back at AI, push back at ever ending the show.”

The natural environment remains a rich source of inspiration, including in “The Simpsons Movie” in 2007 which featured a disaster caused by Homer that leads to Springfield being sealed under a giant dome.

“The environment’s not going to get cleaned up anytime soon,” Groening added.

The Simpsons Movie grossed $536.4 million worldwide, but the creators ruled out making a sequel — for the moment.

“We are still recovering from the first movie,” joked Groening. “And the sad truth is we don’t have enough time to do both the show and the movie unless we decide we want to work really, really hard.”

The Simpsons has been translated into 26 languages and broadcast in around 100 countries.

David Beckham proudly beams with joy ahead of reported knighthood from King Charles

David Beckham was all smiles while chatting to pals during an Inter Miami team training session on Friday. The football star, who is rumoured to be being knighted in the King’s Birthday Honours List this week, looked relaxed as he chatted with head coach Javier Mascherano and another person.

If the star, who recently celebrated his 50th birthday without his eldest son in attendance, does receive a knighthood, then he officially becomes a Sir, and his wife Victoria will be a Lady. Amid the reports, Inter Miami co-owner David was pictured kicking a ball during a team training session on Friday afternoon.

The football icon, who is said to be locked in a feud with his eldest son, Brooklyn, looked cool and casual in a grey t-shirt, black sweatpants, trainers and a white baseball cap.

At one point, he took a break from training to sit by the sidelines under the blazing sun. Meanwhile, the training session comes after he was snapped attending a Royal event this week, hosted by King Charles himself.

The footballer was snapped attending the King’s Foundation Awards ceremony at St James’ Palace in London – before the official announcement of his long-awaited knighthood.

He looked dapper in a navy blue double breasted blazer, striped blue shirt and a grey tie for the lavish event.

Amid the family feud, it has been said that David didn’t tell Brooklyn, who is married to Nicola Peltz, about his reported knighthood. Instead, Brooklyn reportedly learned of his father’s happy news through the media.

A source for Brooklyn told Page Six he was thrilled his dad was finally receiving the honour, while a source quoted as someone close to his parents told the publication: “Brooklyn told his family he wants no contact and he’s not responding to those that try to connect.”

Now, the 26-year-old star has shared a picture of a tattoo that could be perceived as a tell-tale sign about where his loyalties lie.

The image shows the tattoo on Brooklyn’s upper back that is based on a note Nicola, 30, wrote to him before their wedding in April 2022. Tattooed in a stylish calligraphy font, it reads:

“My forever boy. Read this anytime you feel anxious. I want you to know how deeply loved you are. You have the kindest heart I’ve ever met and hope I never go a day without your love.

“I think you are so incredible. Just know we can get through it all together if you breathe slow and trust. I love you beyond. Love always, your future wifey.”

Paddy McGuinness says his nerves are jangling as he joins Tyson Fury at Soccer Aid

As one of the longest-serving members of Soccer Aid’s England team, Paddy McGuinness is back in action this weekend with a host of famous faces helping to raise funds for Unicef in the charity game

Paddy McGuiness beams as he celebrates a Soccer Aid goal

“The only thing that ruins Soccer Aid slightly is the game because you’re that nervous!” laughs Paddy McGuinness as he prepares to join the England squad facing the Soccer Aid World XI FC in the annual charity clash.

TV host and comedian Paddy, 51, is playing alongside some famous faces and footballing legends in the match that kicks off at 7.30pm this Sunday. England will be hoping to retain their winning streak led by a coaching team that includes Harry Redknapp, Wayne Rooney and Tyson Fury.

“There’ll be no excuses saying you can’t hear him,” Paddy says of two-time world heavyweight champ Fury. “Sometimes you can get away with that. ‘Oh sorry, I didn’t hear your gaffer.’ But you’re going to hear Tyson, aren’t you?

“It’s my first time meeting him. His brother Tommy [Fury] usually plays in Soccer Aid and he’s a lovely lad. This year we’ve got Tyson. But no, he’s a fellow northerner so we’ll be right as rain.”

Having been involved with Soccer Aid almost continuously since 2010, Paddy jokes he’s become a seasoned ’stalwart’ of the home side and has counted some of his footballing heroes as his teammates and rivals.

“Ronaldinho, Zidan, Figo, Giggs, Keane… I’ve played against some amazing players. Legends. But weirdly, being a football fan I’m just glad to be on the pitch with them even if they are on the other side!

“Even someone like Usain Bolt, who everyone knows for what he’s achieved in his sprinting career, but then he also could have played professional football as well he’s that good. He came burying down the pitch for a one on one with me last year and I just managed to save it.

“It can be terrifying. But once you’ve kicked the ball a couple of times the nerves go then. And if you’re not nervous in front of 70,000 people, live on telly and playing a football game then something is not right.”

This year the match returns to Manchester United’s Old Trafford, not the first time Paddy has played at the Theatre of Dreams during his tenure on the team. “I’ve played up at St. James’ Park as well and at Wembley. So, you know, I’m very fortunate to have had the opportunity to play at some of the most famous grounds in the country. And ‘lest we not forget the mighty Toughsheet Stadium, Bolton,” says the Lancashire native. Maybe next year.

For the last two years, Paddy has volunteered himself as team goalkeeper. “All these young whippers now running round, left, right and centre flipping heck that used to be me. I still keep myself fit and I’m athletic but now I just take it a bit easier in the net.”

But life in goal isn’t all standing around, as Paddy found out last year when he was trained up by ex England keeper David Seaman who put him through his paces with a one on one masterclass.

“On the first day, David said to me ‘Get in the net’. He picked a ball up, booted a half volley at me. I caught it and he said ‘Right, job done!’ I said, ‘Is that it!?’ It wasn’t.

“He’s a lovely bloke. I love being around him. You know, when he’s teaching me little tips about goalkeeping, I kind of think to myself, ‘Bloody hell this is David Seaman talking to me as though I’m a pro keeper as well,’ which obviously I am not.

“I’ve found a new appreciation for goalkeepers since playing in Soccer Aid because you get covered in bruises and scratches and bumps and bangs because you’re constantly diving about.”

Training kicked off this week with the likes of former Lioness Jill Scott, presenter Sam Thompson and ex-Olympian Mo Farah playing for England. While Carlos Tevez, comedian Lee Mack and Strictly Come Dancing’s Gorka Márquez are among the big names playing for the opposition.

Sunday’s game will be taken incredibly seriously — especially by England’s co-managers Redknapp and Rooney, who is also playing.

“Harry is so funny, but when it comes to game day, you see him change,” says Paddy. “And that’s really nice to be a part of. They aren’t pushing for promotion but of course they want to win.”

As well as the glory of taking home the Soccer Aid Shield, the match also raises millions of pounds for children’s charity Unicef each year, including over £15million raised last year. The event was masterminded by pop star Robbie Williams in 2006 and has grown into a global phenomenon with celebrities and footballers from around the world wanting to play their part.

“It’s a win-win Soccer Aid because everyone playing in it really enjoys it and you get to play with these heroes you’d never get a chance to play with before,” says Paddy. “And all the people who come to watch the game love it and you know, and they might not necessarily be football fans, they might be there to see a pop star or a film star. And in the mix of all that, you’ve got Unicef making millions of pounds for their charity.

“The crowd is so good. At my first one, I could hardly hear the person at the side of me speaking to me on the pitch. I spoke to a couple of the ex pros and I said, ‘I don’t know how you go on playing football with that noise,’ and they said not even at the World Cup does it reach that level.

Glastonbury Festival issued major warning by experts over ‘super spreader’ disease

As hundreds of thousands of festival-goers get ready to head to Glastonbury later this month, worries over possible measles outbreaks have been raised by experts

Health warnings have been issued ahead of Glastonbury this year(Image: Getty)

Health experts have warned that Glastonbury could be a super-spreader event for measles as outbreaks continue across the UK. This year’s festival is being held from June 25th-June 29th at Worthy Farm, Somerset, and the headline acts will be Neil Young, The 1975, and Olivia Rodrigo.

The event’s capacity is 210,000 people, which has sparked concern over a possible outbreak of infections this year. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) said: “It’s festival season. Don’t let #Measles be part of your festival line up.”

It urged festival-goers on social media to get two doses of the MMR vaccine to protect against the illness. The post added: “If you’ve missed yours, you can catch up through your GP surgery.”

Professor Lawrence Young, a virologist at Warwick University, told MailOnline that Glastonbury could worsen the outbreak. He said: “Given the currently high numbers of measles cases in the UK, particularly in the South West and London, and reduced uptake of the MMR vaccine, gatherings at festivals like Glastonbury are a perfect place for measles to spread.”

Measles usually starts with cold-like symptoms, such as a high temperature, a runny nose, or a cough. It is then followed by a rash a few days later, and some people may also get small spots in their mouth, the NHS explains.

The infection is spread by someone breathing, coughing, or sneezing, and you’re infectious from when you first have symptoms until four days after you get the rash.

Measles can also lead to serious problems like pneumonia, meningitis, seizures, and blindness. Babies and people with weakened immune systems are more at risk of developing these complications.

Dr Alasdair Wood, a consultant at UKHSA South West, told ITV: “We want festival-goers to enjoy their time at Glastonbury and other festivals this year. Being aware of the current health risks will help those attending enjoy their time as much as possible.”

He added that with cases circulating across the country, “festivals are the perfect place for measles to spread”. Earlier this month, the UKHSA announced that measles outbreaks were continuing across the country. There were 109 confirmed cases in April and 86 so far in May – and the UKHSA said it was concerned that more outbreaks could occur on a larger scale this summer.

Dr Vanessa Saliba, a consultant epidemiologist at the department, said: “It’s essential that everyone, particularly parents of young children, check all family members are up to date with 2 MMR doses, especially if you are travelling this summer for holidays or visiting family.”

She added that measles “spreads very easily and can be a nasty disease, leading to complications like ear and chest infections and inflammation of the brain”. Dr Sailba warned that in some cases, children can end up in hospital and suffer life-long consequences.

Article continues below

The MMR vaccine is administered over two doses, and about 99% of people with the two doses will be protected. It is never too late to catch-up if you missed the vaccine as a child, the government advises, and anyone who has not had the two doses can contact their GP to book an appointment.

Dr Amanda Doyle, the national director for primary care and community services at NHS England, said: “Too many babies and young children are still not protected against the diseases, which are contagious infections that spread very easily and can cause serious health problems.”
