After falling from a hospital bed, Jacques O’Neill claimed that despite being in a “dark place,” he found himself in a “dark place” after Love Island. However, he claimed that every setback has taught him something.
Gemma Owen’s ex Jacques O’Neill has opened up about his dream of being back in the rugby league while he was sitting in a hospital bed, three years after he followed Gemma into the Love Island villa. Jacques told his followers that, after going on Love Island, he found himself in a ‘dark place’ but that ‘every setback’ has taught him ‘something valuable’.
Jacques posted a photo of himself, thumbs up, and a smile on his face from the hospital bed. In a lengthy caption, he wrote, “Operation done… Just as I was starting to get my confidence back and enjoy rugby league once more, it’s taken away, but that’s life.”
The former Love Island star admitted that he has been “stupidly” pursuing a life he found unsuitable for, but that he is getting back on track.
Being an idiot, I foolishly had out the game for four years, he said, “chasing a life that wasn’t for me.” I ended up in a rather dim and self-absorbed place as a result.
The 26-year-old continued, “I was putting off playing because other people said I had no chance to play again, that he had been too long out, etc.,” and that they had other comments about where I was physically and mentally.
I doubted myself too, to be honest. At first, I didn’t think I would ever be able to play again in the situation I did.
“When I drove home from training to check on myself if I was still in it, I remember thinking about it a few months later, and when I realized that there was no distraction, my outlook started to change.”
He continued, “I’m grateful for the life lessons I’ve learned over the past few years, even though my first season back hasn’t gone according to plan.” I have learned something from each setback. It has strengthened me. Not just as a player, but also as a person. I’ll return hungry like never before.
Although Jacques entered the villa after his ex-girlfriend Gemma Owen, the pair had no desire to rekindle their romance, and Jacques coupled up with Paige Thorne. Jacques then decided to call it quits on the villa life after Paige started getting to know bombshell Adam Collard.
It was an emotional goodbye, and the islanders were sad to see him go, even Luca Bish, who was coupled up with Gemma at the time.
