Gardening legend Monty Don says there’s only one plant he ‘doesn’t like’

The well-known BBC Gardeners’ World host, Monty Don, revealed in a podcast episode that there is one plant he doesn’t like as he described how his ideal garden would look.

Monty Don has revealed one popular plant that he “doesn’t like very much”. In a revelation that may come as a surprise to enthusiasts, the BBC Gardeners’ World presenter disclosed that he’s not a particular fan of a much-loved plant that adorns gardens up and down Britain.

Speaking in an episode of the Talking Gardens podcast, Monty was asked to name something he wouldn’t allow in his “dream garden”, prompting him to reveal that he’s actually “quite tolerant”.

Monty, whose stunning Longmeadow garden appears on the show, explained that due to his long tenure on the BBC programme, they have to feature “all kinds of things” to cater for “all kinds of tastes”.

He added that if it weren’t being filmed, there wouldn’t be such a “complicated and complex” garden. Then, following that, Monty revealed three things he doesn’t like a lot, including a plant.

So, in some ways, I would just get rid of half of what we, you know, is too much of everything, Monty said. I’ve never willingly had a hanging basket, but if other people want one, I don’t mind if they do, because that’s what they want. They are not my enemies.

I simply don’t want them because they don’t offend me. I suppose bedding. I don’t often like to bedded, and it’s not something that really interests me. I have a hard time with chrysanthemum (chrysanthemum).

“I’m trying to whittle out what I already have, not to keep out what I don’t have,” I say. Therefore, I believe that’s the problem: I’m attempting to get rid of things I really enjoy rather than toss things I don’t want.

Despite this mild aversion to hanging baskets, it hasn’t stopped the helpful host from dishing out some advice on how to keep them blooming over the summer months.

Writing in his column for the Daily Mail, Monty advised people to remember that baskets dry out “much faster” than pots, particularly when they’re exposed to the elements. He did say there are two things keen gardeners can do to address this.

He suggested a “high awkward places” lance, a device that aids in travel. You can also try planting the basket to maintain the desired amount of moisture.

Monty advised “plant the basket to keep as much moisture in it as possible without it becoming clogged.” As your work surface, first place, place it on an empty bucket.

“Sprinkle moss from your garden, preferably, along the bottom of the basket and up the sides.” The compost will remain moist and intact.

In the meantime, moss can act as soil’s insulating layer. He continued, adding that evergreen clippings, including the “soft growth” of conifers, can aid in its fusion.

Molly Mae took anxiety medication as she struggled to cope with Tommy Fury issues

By the end of 2025, Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague are still going through things, but they still want to live together.

When she experienced severe anxiety, Molly-Mae Hague revealed that she had taken a prescription drug called beta blockers to help her deal with it.

The former Love Island star and businesswoman makes the revelation to a friend during the second season of Prime Video series Behind It All. She has a difficult phone call with partner Tommy Fury and puts the phone down on him when he is at an event.

And afterwards, Molly-Mae says: “Even though Tommy and I have been so much better and we’ve been getting to a much better place, there’s still things that trigger me so badly, like I hear the word alcohol, and I’m like, Oh, I mean, I’m tense, I’m shaking, I’m like, really anxious.

When Tommy and our relationship aren’t in top shape or when there is a problem, it’s just all that bothersome for me. I had a panic attack, and I was reportedly sick. Oh God, I was like, “This is not good.” Like, this is terrible, too.

“Because my body is actually not coping with the anxiety, not at all.” Yes, it was awful. because I was so anxious, I needed beta blockers.

Even though I’ve chosen to go away with her, I feel like “Oh, I’m doing it all,” and I’m just trying to navigate it as best I can, and kind of accepted it’s just part of the journey. “The past does affect me, especially when I’m away with Bambi.

Molly-Mae is engaged to Tommy after the couple met on Love Island in 2019. They become the most famous and celebrated romance from the ITV series.

However, Tommy and his daughter Bambi split in August of that year despite rumors that he had cheated, something he has always denied. They got married and had their daughter together.

Behind It All’s first season concentrated a lot on the breakup and subsequent attempts to mend the relationship. She admits in series two that she isn’t wearing the engagement ring he gave her because she “don’t feel quite ready.”

She also appears in the series claiming to be hoping to move back home with Tommy in Manchester and that she enjoys spending time with Bambi, but that she isn’t entirely committed to it.

She says: “Tommy and I in an ideal world, we wouldn’t be in two separate houses, and hopefully, maybe by the end of this year, we won’t be. I just don’t know what I’m gonna do about this house[her home in Manchester], because I definitely, definitely don’t want to sell it. I definitely don’t want to rent it out. I want the option of still coming here If I need to.

“The thought of putting all of my eggs in one basket again,” I thought. I can never predict what tomorrow will bring, so it’s obvious that it’s scary. I simply believe that I have anxiety because I’m not sure if I’ll wake up and have a major issue. Because I’ve had a significant problem on my hands for a long time when I wake up.

Tommy Fury, a boxer and TV star, admitted to having some alcohol issues in a January interview with Men’s Health. He claimed that while he used to train, he would occasionally hit the bottle and still get up early to play and feed Bambi.

He continued, “It’s not like I wake up in the morning and start drinking, but I’d rather think, “Why not go out” rather than spend the entire day in bed festering? I’d normally be in camp, but instead I’d just be hitting Guinness left and center and then shooting shots at night. I frequently drink to experience a blackout. That is what I believe really affected me.

Molly Mae finally admits she has a nanny despite solo parenting complaints

In the second season of her critically acclaimed Prime Video program, Molly-Mae: Behind It All, Molly-Mae Hague discusses childcare.

Molly-Mae Hague has spoken for the first time about having a nanny – and explained why she kept it a secret from fans.

The influencer and former Love Island star has faced criticism from other parents for talking about the challenges she faces raising two-year-old Bambi on her own for most of the time as she no longer lives with on-off boyfriend Tommy. Last month there were claims she was getting childcare or a nanny when she was working on her business brand Maebe which led to claims she was being “inauthentic” and not telling the full story.

Speaking in-depth about it for the first time, she explains her reasoning to her dad Stephen in a scene from Season Two of Molly Mae: Behind It All. Talking with her dad about being away for a Maebe photoshoot, Molly-Mae says: “We’ve got Tommy when he can, and then obviously childcare at home on some of the days, I only kind of like doing two nights away maximum now. I think now she’s gotten older.”

Molly, 26, continues, “There’s always been some speculating about Bambi’s childcare and having a nanny, but I never really knew what it would turn out to be.” I suppose I just avoided it. I believe I was a little too afraid to discuss it in person.

“I just feel like I’ve caused this significant circumstance where people believe I’ve been truthful by not talking about it.” I do have assistance when I need it, and Tommy and I both work, but I regret not being open to it right away. I resisted speaking about it because I wanted to make any other mothers feel like they were invalid.

Her father tries to comfort her in response. Mum lives three hours away, Stephen says. I have full-time employment. You need support because you work but occasionally don’t live in the UK.

As you know, Molly says, “Obviously, as you know dad, it’s not round the clock care, like it’s just when we need it to work.” It has allowed me to continue working, grow my businesses, and also lead Bambi’s life while also being able to stay at home and be present with her while working, which is exactly what we both wanted to do.

“But I also understand that it isn’t typical.” I have a very, very special chance of having someone watch over me so that I can do these things and help grow my business.

The series’ launch of new clothing in the summer saw the majority of the Maebe products sell out on launch night because the Maebe brand is growing.

Molly-Mae and Bambi also have some heartwarming moments, such as when she serves her daughter as a waiter and another time when they feed ducks in a park together.

Elsewhere in the series, Molly says she hopes to move back in with boyfriend Tommy Fury by the end of the year but it does make her anxious to think about it.

She says, “I’m considering going there and putting all of my eggs in one basket again.” I can never predict what tomorrow will bring, so it’s obvious that it’s scary.

I just believe I have anxiety because I’m not sure if I’ll wake up and have a major problem to deal with. Because I’ve had a significant problem on my hands for a long time when I wake up.

Today (Saturday, October 18), Prime Video will exclusively stream episodes 1 through 3 of Series 2’s episodes of Molly-Mae: Behind It All. The last three episodes will be released in early 2026.

She considered going to the hospital because she was concerned, but when she called her GP, they sent a doctor over to check her and she was diagnosed with a surprise diagnosis that explained all of her symptoms.

Because it was his 50th birthday and we were taking off the following day, I took him to a Ferrari day. He was going round the track, and I fell to the ground. And I was like, “Whoa, I’m in pain.” I then realized I’d have to get in A&amp, E.

But gallstones, this is where I’m not 100 per cent convinced at the minute, gallstones, everyone can have gallstones and they can flare up at any time. You know, I was in such pain.

“I’ve got the medication that’s helping me right now.” I remember agonizing when I realized that I wasn’t going to make it to Cyprus. However, you know the doctors were excellent, and I’m currently receiving pain relief, so we’ll just have to wait and see how it turns out.

Gemma previously mentioned how much she changed since losing weight. She claimed that all she ever wanted to do was look “natural,” and that this was all she ever wanted to do.

As you may well know, I’ve always had a fuller face. My eyes do my best to have a smile. I still want to look natural. However, this is inadvertent. What has occurred? Although I’m 44, this is reaching levels I had no idea it would.
