Following an alleged incident in Westminster last year, TV journalist Graham Linehan was once more in court after allegations he harassed and damaged a trans woman’s phone.
Father Ted co-creator Graham Linehan has admitted to throwing a trans activist’s phone after an argument. The comedy writer is currently on trial in London.
He is accused of harassing trans woman Sophia Brooks. The claims include damaging her phone during an incident outside the Battle of Ideas conference in Westminster on October 19 last year.
Linehan allegedly insulted her before grabbing her device, according to Ms. Brooks. Linehan claims that it was a reaction because of his high level of adrenaline. Before the alleged altercation, he also asserted that trans activists had ruined his life.
Linehan admits to throwing the phone, but he denies harassing Ms. Brooks on social media between October 11 and October 27, 2024.

Additionally, he denies that her phone was a victim of criminal damage. According to reports, the damage cost £369.
On Wednesday, one of the defendants in court was Katherine Harris, the co-founder of LGB Alliance UK. During a panel discussion, she claimed to have witnessed Ms. Brooks stand up to the camera.
Brooks was referred to as a man by Harris, who said: “It was a deliberate, intimidatory move on his part, and he would not stop.” He was taking pictures of anyone and everyone at his disposal, which was obtrusive and aggressive.
She continued, “It appeared as though he wanted to get everyone, to get everyone in his power through his camera,” she continued. That was the message. The disruption was complete.
Additionally, Linehan’s friendship increased. The allegations of the phone grabber were finally heard last month in court.
Prosecutor Julia Faure Walker claimed that Linehan, the victim’s attorney, “relentlessly” posted messages about the victim on social media, adding that they were “obstructive and unacceptable.”
According to the prosecution, the purpose of these posts was not simply to report events, to express political opinions, to criticize, to assist in the identification of perpetrators, or to solve any crime. Instead, they were abusive and vindictive, which reflected Mr. Linehan’s deep dislike of Ms. Brooks. Ms. Brooks did not provoke any of these posts. The posts were not requested.
Faure Walker continued, “The defendant sent the relevant social media posts is not in dispute. The defendant seized and threw Ms. Brooks’ phone, which is not in dispute.
The prosecution detailed the alleged criminal damage incident at the time in an online post that Linehan had previously claimed she was a “domestic terrorist” and claimed occurred after Ms Brooks approached Linehan while filming.
He was called a sissy-porn watcher and told to “go away groomer, go away you disgusting incel.”
Linehan, who was born in Dublin, is a Dublin-born author who also co-wrote The IT Crowd and Black Books.
