‘I was in the room when Prince Harry mocked Trump and one thing left me speechless’

The Duke of Sussex went viral this week after making a surprise cameo on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Now a fan has revealed what it was like to watch the wild skit live

Prince Harry has had a busy week dipping his toe into the glossy world of TV, following in the footsteps of his wife Meghan Markle. And now one fan who was in the crowd during his viral comedy sketch has revealed what it was really like to watch live.

The Duke of Sussex made a surprise cameo on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Wednesday, performing in a toe-curling skit where he potrayed himself trying to land a gig as the “Christmas prince” in a Hallmark movie. Colbert probed Harry on why an actual prince would want to star in such a production, leading Harry to joke in response: “You Americans are obsessed with Christmas movies, and you’re clearly obsessed with royalty, so why not?”

When the show host challenged him on whether Americans are really “obsessed” with the monarchy, cheeky Harry quipped back: “Really? I hear you elected a king.” The joke appeared to be a nod to the recent “No Kings” protests in the US, aimed at the Trump administration.

Also alluding to CBS’ recent lawsuit settlement with the US president, the duke joked that he would “do anything” to land the Christmas film role, saying: “I’ll record a self-tape, I’ll fly myself to an audition, settle a baseless lawsuit with the White House – all the things you people in TV do.”

There’s famously no love lost between Trump and the Sussexes, with the Republican leader having taken aim at Meghan Markle on numerous occasions. He’s called her “nasty” in the past over her critical comments, something he denied – despite there being an audio recording. More recently, he said the duchess was “terrible” but said that he wouldn’t “deport” Harry.

As Harry’s astonishing skit with Colbert went viral on social media, one woman who was in the crowd as the Trump jokes unfolded has revealed her thoughts on the whole sketch. Cathy, a royal fan, commented on The Late Show’s official Instagram page to deliver her verdict.

The woman, who goes by @sunshine_cat8 on the platform, giddily wrote: “I was actually THERE!! I had no clue that Prince Harry was going to come out and do that. We were told Michael Shannon and Jesse Buckley. The audience went crazy. Let me tell you.”

Continuing her review of Harry’s new-found talent, she added: “It was a fantastic skit so funny and we were all shocked at the acting chops our Prince Harry had lol it was a great show”. Other fans replied to Cathy’s tell-all comment, with one writing “I’m so jealous lol” and another adding: “looks super fun”.

But it’s not gone down so well with other viewers. One royal expert believes Harry should be stripped of his titles to make it clear to the US public that his views and comments are his own, and do not reflect that stance taken by the Royal Family.

The prince’s comedic comments about Trump just months after the US leader and First Lady Melania flew to the UK for a whirlwind state visit, in which both Trump and King Charles spoke fondly about each other and the relationship between the two nations.

Tom Sykes, editor of the The Daily Beast’s Royalist newsletter, wrote: “I think the Royal Family has no real choice. Harry believes he’s free to speak his mind now that he’s no longer a working royal.

“I think if he were truly living as Harry Wales, a private citizen, that argument would hold water. But he isn’t Harry Wales. He’s Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex. And in the American imagination, he still carries the full aura of a prince – a representative of the monarchy.”

Prince Harry slammed for ‘larking around’ in insensitive move as ‘painful truth’ exposed

The Duke of Sussex has been criticised for a recent TV appearance which pointed out the cruel irony of his comedy sketch and his current celebrity lifestyle in the US

Prince Harry has been slammed for a surprise recent TV appearance, which exposed the cruel irony between his awkward comedy skit and his current celebrity lifestyle in America. The Duke of Sussex made an unexpected appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, in which he featured in a sketch portraying himself as he tried out to become a Hallmark film ” Christmas prince”.

The talk show host questioned why an actual prince would wish to star in such productions, leading Harry to respond: “You Americans are obsessed with Christmas movies, and you’re clearly obsessed with royalty, so why not?”

When Colbert challenged the notion of an American “obsession,” Harry wisecracked: “Really? I hear you elected a king,” in what appeared to be a nod to the “No Kings” demonstrations aimed at the Trump administration.

Harry has since received a wave of backlash for his brief appearance, with many wondering why the Duke opted to appear on the late night talk show in the first place. According to former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond, the appearance missed the mark entirely.

She told the Mirror : “I can’t for the life of me think why Harry chose to do this. What was in it for him? The result was an onslaught of criticism – for a rather stilted performance, for a political joke and for the timing (with his father in law in hospital and the State Banquet at Windsor).”

While some royal watchers found the joy in Harry’s skit, Jennie Bond believes there was a painful irony in the comedy sketch, in which the prince begged for a role in a fictional Christmas film.

She said: “I like Harry, and I rather admire the way he’s willing to laugh at himself, but this just seemed so unnecessary. It was also rather too painfully close to the truth: a Prince looking for a role and willing to do anything to secure one.”

With the TV appearance coming at the same time the Royal Family were hosting the German president for a historic state visit in Windsor, Jennie added: “The contrast between Harry larking around as a LA celebrity and the dignity of his family back home exercising their soft power at a glittering banquet was stark.”

Jennie’s comments were echoed by another royal expert, as Tom Sykes, editor of the Royalist newsletter on Substack, called for Harry to be stripped of his titles as a result of the TV appearance, to make it clear to the US public that his views and comments are his own, and do not reflect that stance taken by the Royal Family.

Harry’s comments about Trump just months after the US leader and First Lady travelled to the UK for a whirlwind state visit, in which both Trump and King Charles spoke fondly about each other and the relationship between the two nations.

Jennie said that all in all, Harry’s appearance on the show was tone deaf, and he would be better off sticking to his other philanthropic efforts, instead of trying to pursue a career in showbusiness.

She said: “A bad choice, Harry: you are not an actor or a comedian. Stick to your charity work and campaigning on issues you care about. Or, indeed, just stick to being a great dad and husband – you seem to be wonderfully good at that.”

Corrie’s Emrhys Cooper ‘felt like he was going to cry’ after huge transformation

Former Corrie star Emrhys Cooper has revealed that a subtle change to his appearance left him overcome with emotion and gave him a completely fresh outlook on life

Emrhys Cooper admits his whole outlook on life changed after a huge transformation. The former Coronation Street actor had spent years being bothered by his appearance after a dentist whacked temporary bonding onto his veneers after an accident involving a bottle and a drunken friend.

Despite having been happy with his appearance, he noted that the colour of the bonding started to wear away and the chips became more visible than ever, something that affected him at work when he was filming. However, the actor, 40, says he “never felt deserving” or “financially secure” enough to fix the thing which was getting him down.

But after years of lapping up the life of showbiz in Los Angeles, where he had been living, Emrhys embarked on a new sober lifestyle and instantly made a decision to fix his appearance, which he says changed his overall outlook. Reflecting on looking to replace his veneers, he told the Mirror: “I’d gotten some wild quotes in LA, so after doing a lot of research, I looked into Turkey where I’d heard good where I’d heard good things.

After multiple consultations, I chose Dentakay, and I’m so glad I did. The experience was seamless and truly incredible. I felt like Adele getting superstar treatment.” Emrhys, however, was adamant that he didn’t want the stereotypical Turkey look; instead, he wanted a more natural look, something which his dentist was in agreement about.

“When I got my new teeth, I genuinely felt like I was gonna cry. For a long time, I didn’t believe I deserved to fix my teeth,” he admitted. Emrhys added: “Now it’s given me a huge boost of confidence and a deeper sense of self-worth. I’ve been fortunate enough to stay busy as an actor since getting my new smile, and I’ve absolutely noticed a difference in how I’m showing up, no longer self-conscious and trying to hide my teeth on camera.”

He continued: “For years I prioritised everything except my health, going out, partying, trips, you name it. Now seeing what Dentakay has done for me, it’s opened a new door of possibilities. It might sound cheesy, but a smile can really change your life. I don’t mean that in a vain look at me way, but in a genuinely empowering way.

“When you take care of yourself, you show up differently in the world. I’ve had multiple implants and root canals. And now we understand more than ever that the real dangers of neglecting your dental health are linked to issues like heart disease, inflammation, and even increased risk of cognitive conditions such as dementia.”

But Emrhys revealed he was quoted “between forty and one hundred grand” for the treatment in Los Angeles, whereas he paid around £5,820 for the treatment at Dentakay. And while there has been increased coverage of Travel Tourism and the downsides of this, Emrhys had nothing but praise for his team. “I did a lot of research, and I spoke to four different dentists,” he explained.

He admits he felt “listened to” when he expressed his desired look, which is something he could have never expected. Speaking about ensuring people do research, he said: “I think it’s important to do your research and find the right place for you. I’m just speaking from my personal experience. They were incredible from start to finish.”

After seeing the end results, he admits he “teared up”. “It was something that had bothered me for so long, and to see my smile how I wanted it to look finally was just a huge sense of relief,” he commented. And this has followed through to his exciting work projects.

Now, his thoughts are far from his appearance. He said: “It was just nice to not be in my head about the way I looked, because that can really take you out of the present moment and and and spoil some of the fun and and rob your joy. So I noticed I had freedom because I wasn’t so wrapped up in my physical appearance, which I shouldn’t be anyway.

“But you know, the fact that my veneers were discoloured and I had chips, multiple chips on my veneers, it was something I thought about. And when the camera was in close, I would be paranoid. And it was just liberating to feel free of those concerns.”

Lavish Christmas decorations

Mark and Michelle are known for going all out at Christmas but this year is extra special because of Palma.

The couple have shared pictures of their lavish decorations for the festive period on Instagram, which include an enormous Christmas tree in their grand hallway, which is decorated with giant red velvet bows and lights.

Entering the house, there are two elegant garlands strewn with lights and red baubles, which are also entwined up the stairs. Complimenting this are silver baubles hung from the ceiling, which gives the mansion a magical feel.

Sources say the Wrights plan on making this festive season “one to remember”, with “no expense spared” as they go all out. An insider close to the couple told OK!: “Mark loves Christmas and he’s wanted a family for a long time, so for him it couldn’t get any better.

“He’s like an excited puppy dog and cherishing every minute of it. It means the world to him.”

Select guest list

Mark and Michelle are both working parents, but family is their priority according to the source, who confirmed that the actress’ family will be coming down from Manchester for Christmas.

Explaining that the Wright family will also be joining in with the celebrations, they said of Michelle: “She’s been really busy but family is her priority. It’s lovely to have some special time together, especially because at one point she and Mark were practically living separate lives because of work.

“Her family are coming down from Manchester but it’s very much a Wright Christmas – family comes first and it’s very important for them to be all together. It’ll be lovely seeing all the kids together.”

Baby Palma’s first Christmas

Although only nine months old, Palma, looks like she’s already sorted for Christmas after her mum, Michelle, uploaded an adorable snap of the tot.

Proudly posing in matching Christmas pyjamas with her daughter, the Fool Me Once star, told fans the sweet set was ‘available for all the family’. “Matching with my girl,” read the Michelle’s post caption with a white heart emoji. It’s been a busy year for the celebrity couple, who became parents for the first time in March.

Michelle and husband Mark welcomed Palma and announced the happy news with a black and white photo of the their bundle of joy, snuggled in a crochet blanket.

The couple shared: “Together we have a new love to share. Our little girl. Palma Elizabeth Wright, 06.03.25.”

Holly Willoughby ‘to sell car’ from crash that left scooter driver with fractured neck

Holly Willoughby has reportedly enlisted the help of a car dealer to sell her Mini Cooper car in an attempt to ‘move on’ from car crash that left a motorist with a fractured neck

Former This Morning host Holly Willoughby has reportedly made a big decision after being involved in a car crash earlier this year.

Holly is said to be desperately trying to sell her car after she was involved in a car crash which left a scooter rider with a fractured neck. The TV presenter, 44, is now said to have taken on a car dealer to help sell her Mini Cooper as quickly as possible, after she accidentally hit the scooter driver off his vehicle.

Earlier this week, Holly pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention as the incident is now in the hands of the court. The car is believed to be worth an estimated £25,000.

A source told The Sun: “She wants to get rid of the Mini now and has got a dealer to come and sell it for her. “

They added: “The faster she can get it off her drive and gone for good the better. Holly wants a fresh start and doesn’t feel right driving the car again after what has happened. It really has shaken her up.” The source continued: “She was so upset by the accident and did everything she could to help the man. Now she just wants to move on and get rid of the Mini.” It’s estimated her car could fetch up to £13,000.

Earlier this week a court heard how Holly, who appeared in court documents under her married name of Holly Baldwin, pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention colliding with a scooter rider near her £3m home in August.

A hearing took place this week at Lavender Hill Magistrates’ Court in London, although Holly, whose name appeared in court documents as Holly Baldwin – which is her married name – did not attend. The former This Morning star pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention via post.

Holly’s legal representative, Aisling Byrnes claimed the married mum of three had a “momentary lapse of judgement.”

She went on to say: “She is extremely remorseful. She left her vehicle and went straight to the driver of the moped and offered him water and her phone and remained at the scene until the officers arrived. She admitted guilt at the scene and pleaded guilty via post as soon as she got the form.”

The court was shown footage of Holly turning right into a side street in her £25,000 black Mini Cooper without indicating and hitting the oncoming white Piaggio scooter. The victim, who was not named, was seen flying off his bike after hitting Holly’s car. He sustained a fractured vertebra in his neck and a broken toe.

Holly received a £2,444 fine which included costs and was penalised with six points on her licence. This comes after she made the decision to quit her role on This Morning, soon after it emerged that a kidnap plot was being planned by a man named Gavin Plumb.

Plumb was found guilty of plotting to kidnap, rape and murder Holly and was sentenced to prison for life with a minimum jail term of 16 years. At the time of her departure, she said she had made the decision to leave the ITV daytime show to spend more time with her family.

Taking to Instagram two years ago, she told fans: “I have let ITV know today that after 14 years, I will not be returning to This Morning. To everyone who has ever worked on the show over the years, thank you so, so much. This is such a difficult goodbye, you are incredible and I forever will be proud of what we’ve done together.

She added: “Most of all, thank you to the wonderful viewers. You’ve been so loyal, so supportive and the very best company every day. Richard and Judy said ‘we only look after this show, it will always belong to the viewers’. Thank you to everyone at ITV for being supportive.”

Holly then went on to say: “To every guest who has sat on our sofa, thank you. It’s been an honour to just be part of it’s story and I know this story has many chapters left to go. Sadly, however, I now feel I have to make this decision for me and my family. “I will miss you all so much.”
