Former EastEnders star Melissa Carter has opened up about her struggles and non-acceptance of living with a health condition. The 33-year-old former actress is best known for playing Lucy Beale on the BBC soap from from 2004 to 2010.
The mother-of-one has reinvented herself as a self-help and health guru since quitting the soap and acting in general. The Confident Mama, the TV personality, encourages fans and followers to love their bodies.
Melissa, who acted under the name Melissa Suffield, has also revealed that she was diagnosed with SIBO in 2023. The digestive tract is affected when too many bacteria migrate from the large to the small intestine, leading to discomfort, diarrhea, vomiting, diarrhea, and maladsorption of nutrients.

This month, Melissa marked her two year anniversary of being diagnosed on the condition – and acknowledged that she does wonder what she did wrong that provoked the health issue to form. Writing in a post on Instagram, she wrote: “Today is a tough day. This day 2 years ago, me and River got sick with whatever the infection was that gave me SIBO. From the next day onwards, I was symptomatic, and I have basically been unwell ever since.
I constantly replay that day in my head. What if we had not taken the train that day? What if we hadn’t eaten out? Suppose we had stayed at home. How different would my current life be. Without my will, I wouldn’t have lost more than 3 stone. Without the magic remedy that would make me feel better, I wouldn’t have spent more than £20,000 looking for solutions. I’ve never been more alone or anxious than I’ve ever been. I wouldn’t be concerned about traveling farther than a mile from my house. Without altering who I am as a person, the very core of who I am would not have changed.
She continued, “I don’t like to dwell on the past in this way because it’s really bad because it’s really bad, but on days like today, crap anniversaries, it’s really hard not to. Therefore, I’ll try to reframe it.
She continued, “I wouldn’t have learned a lot about nutrition, medicine, and the digestive system without getting SIBO.” I wouldn’t have been able to assist literally hundreds of you who claimed that my content helped them learn about SIBO and that they had to share their stories. Without the opportunity to band the drum and raise awareness for the numerous sufferers who receive little help, I wouldn’t have had the chance to do so. Without that, I wouldn’t have understood my potential strength.
The EastEnders alum rounded off her post, writing defiantly: “So ultimately, as much as I with this hadn’t happened to me, you bet your ass I’m going to use it as a force for good.” SIBO is described by the NHS as a common condition, caused by “the presence of excessive numbers of bacteria in the small bowel causing gastrointestinal symptoms.” The condition can also be controlled through medicine.
Melissa has gained a sizable following online thanks to her encouragement to love oneself and the human body. And she regrets having a bad image and has been deeply personal about her problems.
She shared a number of images from her recent post that show her in a bikini while positioning herself in a position that “rolls” formed on her body.
One of her biggest regrets was asking Robert to delete photos of her with River when he was younger because I didn’t like how I looked, the actress, who is married to cruise director Robert Brendan, wrote in. Family vacations Holidays . big events I’m sure I’m never there, but there are photos of everyone else.
“It sucks to look back and not see yourself. So take it from me. This Christmas, be in the picture. Even if your jumper feels tight. Even if you ate more than you planned. Even if auntie Karen made an unhelpful comment (I feel like we all know an auntie Karen, don’t we?) Because one day, those photos won’t be about how you looked, they’ll be about who was there”

Be a part of the memory, she urged her followers. Give yourself the joy you deserve. Keep in mind these difficult times of your old. When you’re no longer with them, leave something to look back on to your loved ones.

One typed: “Thank you for showing the world not to be embarrassed by your body no-one knows what we go through and your body is a beautiful thing so embrace it.” And another commented: “And the best part is the natural, real photos are the most beautiful!”

The Protection actress quickly refuted the notion that they were a “power couple,” admitting that they can be “hopeless” when attempting to organize themselves and jokingly said, “I’ve never heard that one before.
We are both on the air,” she continued. Other than that, we are fairly typical. You wouldn’t believe this morning that we were just trying to leave the house on time. Hopeless .

Prior to making their relationship official, the couple had previously been photographed holding hands at various showbiz gatherings.

This Christmas, two Love Island All Stars finalists from the 2025 season have sparked engagement rumors.
Love Island All Stars runners-up Grace Jackson and Luca Bish have set tongues wagging after fans spotted a clue in their festive Instagram post which prompted speculation that a proposal could be on the horizon.
The couple, who met on the ITV2 dating series earlier this year, shared a carousel of snaps from their first Christmas together on Sunday.
Grace and Luca were seen posing in white before taking a cold walk in front of their Christmas tree in matching outfits.

However, the grand gesture also attracted criticism from some fans, who were quick to point out similarities to the way Luca asked his former Love Island girlfriend Gemma Owen to be exclusive during their original stint on the show.
Despite the minor backlash, those close to the couple’s relationship appear to be very well-liked. Reuben Collins, Grace’s ex, recently shared his thoughts on the new romance with her during her first Love Island appearance.
He stated at the Nominal Fashion Show in London, “Luca seems cool, and he seems like a great guy.” like congratulations, as if I were just stoked for them.
He added: “And I like Grace, she’s a good girl, like I expect nothing less for her, she deserves the best.” Grace and Luca narrowly missed out on winning Love Island All Stars, finishing second behind Gabby Allen and Casey O’Gorman in a surprise twist.

Kelvin Fletcher and his wife Liz have faced a challenging time following a “devastating” fire, but the couple have now shared a “huge” update.
Last October, the family of six were enjoying some downtime away from their farm when they received a distressing call from a neighbour about a fire at their farmhouse. The fire rendered their home uninhabitable, forcing them to seek temporary accommodation. However, more than a year later, the family has returned to their cherished farm.
Kelvin Fletcher stated in the season three finale of Fletchers’ Family Farm, “This one’s huge.” After renting out after a fire in the farmhouse for a year, we’re finally taking delivery of our new lodge.

Liz shared her harsh realities of dealing with the aftermath of the fire after the first portion of their new temporary home on wheels arrived.
She stated, “These things, dealing with the fire, take so long as you can ever imagine. It’s a full-time job, trying to do everything, including the surveys. Additionally, we haven’t even begun the process of removing the house and beginning the construction work.
So this just seems to work a little more effectively, a little more effectively, and less likely to require us to be in two places at once, despite being temporary.
The hardest part of our relationship this year has been feeling so disconnected as a family, Kelvin continued. We are so happy that we can go back to the farm and get back together.
Liz jokingly described their current housing situation as a “posh caravan” in a lighthearted manner, exclaiming relief and excitement over this significant change.
The best feeling comes from returning to the farm 24/7.
Kelvin acknowledged the “challenge” that lies ahead as they move forward with this exciting chapter of their journey in a voiceover.
Our desire to return to the farm has finally begun, despite a long journey. But before we can move on, we must adapt to lodge life, which presents a whole new set of challenges.
There are six of us, Liz said, not your typical caravan.

She then enthusiastically stated, “When we do the renovation, we’re here, we’re on site, we’re back, and it’ll just take the edge off of the upset of the fire,” “I think.” We’re back on the farm.

Hannah joined her friend Nadia on ITV’s Loose Women in 2024 to discuss the need for the NHS to approve the drug. She said at the time: “I don’t know how long I’ve got, some statistics two to four years, some say three to five, I am 3 years in and it’s scary. It’s not a fairy tale, it only ends one way. All we can have is extra time and this drug would have given me that, more time with my daughter.”
