Amy Winehouse’s dad Mitch appears in court as he sues her close friends

Amy Winehouse’s closest friends, Naomi Parry and Catriona Gourlay, have faced the late singer’s dad, Mitch, in court, after he accused them of auctioning off the star’s personal property

Amy Winehouse’s dad has faced the singer’s closest friends in court. Mitch, a former London cab driver, accused Naomi Parry and Catriona Gourlay of selling the late musician’s personal items.

The pair, who were often seen with Amy, are being sued for the sum of £730,000. They both deny the allegations made against them. Today, a trial commenced at the Royal Courts of Justice and is expected to last several days. Mitch is suing both Perry and Gourlay in his capacity as the executor of Amy’s estate.

Two friends of Amy Winehouse “deliberately concealed” that they sold dozens of her personal items at auction after her death, barristers for the singer’s father told the High Court.

Henry Legge KC, for Mr Winehouse, said in written submissions that the items included a silk mini-dress worn by Ms Winehouse in her final performance in Belgrade, Serbia, which Ms Parry auctioned for 243,200 US dollars (£182,656) in 2021.

He said: “Ms Parry and Ms Gourlay deliberately concealed from Mr Winehouse the fact that they were auctioning the items consigned by them to the 2021 auction and that they were claiming ownership of those items.”

He continued that Mr Winehouse believed that all the 834 items in the 2021 auction catalogue were owned by the estate, but that the two women were “asserting ownership of over 150”.

The barrister also said that Ms Parry was “instrumental in persuading Mr Winehouse to auction the estate’s items”, but did not tell him that she “stood to gain from his agreeing to do so”.

Mr Legge said that after Ms Winehouse’s death, Mr Winehouse was approached by Darren Julien, of Julien’s Auctions in Los Angeles, in 2014 regarding an auction of her belongings, which Mr Winehouse initially declined.

Mr Julien then contacted Ms Parry, who indicated that she would be willing to sell “my collection” in 2018, with Ms Gourlay indicating she would be willing to sell items in 2019, Mr Legge said. Mr Winehouse then agreed to auction items in 2021, which raised around 1.4 million dollars (£1.05 million) for the estate, with 30% of the proceeds going to the Amy Winehouse Foundation.

But Mr Legge said that Mr Julien “did not take steps to correct Mr Winehouse’s obvious impression that all lots belonged to and were being sold by the estate”. The barrister also said that Mr Julien told Ms Parry in a text message after the auction: “I do think he will go a little nuts when he realises all the big pieces were yours”.

He continued that both women then sold further items at a second auction in May 2023. Giving evidence on Monday, Mr Winehouse said: “I assume that, being so close, Amy would have given them some things, but 150 items, I just cannot believe it.”

At a hearing in July last year, the High Court was told that there was evidence of “suspicious circumstances” surrounding two Amy Winehouse auctions. Mitch, who is an executor of Amy’s estate, claims that Naomi and Catriona sent “various items of personal property owned by Amy during her lifetime” to auctions in 2021 and in 2023.

During the hearing, both Naomi and Catriona were instructed to provide more evidence to Winehouse in relation to the 156 disputed items which were gifted to them by the Back to Black songstress or were never owned outright by Ms Winehouse.

Both Naomi and Catriona deny the allegations and deny “wrongfully” acquiring items and said that they would “frequently lend” Amy items due to their love for “fashion and style”.

Items sold via a US auction included dresses from Amy’s cancelled tour in 2011, a Fendi bracelet and bag, make-up and other items of clothing.

In February 2024, both Naomi and Catriona shared on social media that they were gifted items by Amy during her life for over “a decade”. They also claimed they spoke about them in the press and to “Mr Winehouse himself.”

They also stated that their “ownership was never questioned until they were sold.” After their various projects, including Beyond Black – The Life and Style of Amy Winehouse and several exhibitions, they said that they made the decision to auction some of the collection titled Property from the Life and Career of Amy Winehouse, which they said was in “collaboration with Amy’s estate”.

It’s claimed that Naomi and Catriona’s decision to put the items up for sale in “their own names and on their own behalf” converted Amy’s property to “their own use”. Mitch is seeking £534,192.90 in damages from Naomi and £198,041.07 from Catriona.

Beth Grossman for Naomi said that Mitch had received “extensive” information, which was “sufficient” to prevent any “hampering” of his case. She added that Mitch had “considerably greater funds available for this litigation”. Grossman added: “The relevant incidents all took place many years ago, in some cases around 20 years ago; Ms Winehouse has sadly been deceased since 2011, and concern exchanges between women who were close friends.

“This is not a claim arising in a corporate or particularly formal context: the very nature of personal interactions such as this is that there is unlikely to be a large amount of documentary evidence and it is likely that memories may have faded in certain respects.”

Meanwhile, James Fennemore for Mitch said that the case would “primarily involve and turn on a detailed scrutiny of the defendants’ case in respect of the circumstances in which they say the items came by them.” He added that there was “little or no detail about the circumstances of the alleged gifts” and there was “evidence of suspicious circumstances surrounding these auctions.”

Amy tragically died aged 27 on July 23, 2011, at her home in Camden, north London. Following two inquests into her death, her cause of death was ruled to be accidental by the way of alcohol poisoning.

Pitch Perfect star Rebel Wilson and wife expecting second child

Rebel Wilson and Ramona Agruma-Wilson are expecting their second child. The Pitch Perfect actress and her wife Ramona have announced they are set to become parents once again.

Sharing the exciting news, Ramona wrote: “The happiest news in our family, it will be 4 of us soon! Baby number 2 is on her way. I love you @rebelwilson.” Rebel also commented on the post, sharing: “Baby, so happy for our gorgeous babies!”

Rebel and Ramona previously welcomed daughter Royce Lillian Elizabeth Wilson back in 2022, who was born via surrogate. The actress has been open about motherhood and her experiences.

Sharing a post on Mother’s Day earlier this year, she wrote: “Being a Mum to this cutie pie is the BEST thing ever! Happy Mother’s Day to all the brilliant Mum’s out there but especially to @ramonaagruma and my Mum, sister and grandma! Go Mums!!!”

Rebel and Ramona made the exciting announcement

Back in 2023, Rebel expressed her desire to have more children as she called her baby a “miracle”.

“I would like to have another child. It’s just like, well, is that possible? I would have to do IVF. We’ll see how it goes. I would like to have more children. Roycie is such a miracle. And if she’s my only child, then amazing,” she said.

Announcing the arrival of Roycie back in 2023, Rebel said she was “forever grateful” and also heaped praise on the couple’s “gorgeous surrogate”, who she said gave them the best gift.

“Beyond proud to announce the birth of my first child, Royce Lillian, born this past week via surrogate. I can’t even describe the love I have for her, she’s a beautiful miracle!” she said.

“I am forever grateful to everyone who has been involved, (you know who you are), this has been years in the making…but particularly wanted to thank my gorgeous surrogate who carried her and birthed her with such grace and care. Thank you for helping me start my own family, it’s an amazing gift. The BEST gift!! I am ready to give little Roycie all the love imaginable. I am learning quickly…much respect to all the Mums out there! Proud to be in your club.”

In 2022, Rebel explained how her journey to become a mum had been “devastating”. Speaking of her work on The Almond and the Seahorse, she said: “During the filming I received some terrible news that all my harvested eggs up until that point had not survived being thawed. So I’d lost a huge amount of weight and been through three surgeries at that point and no viable embryos.

“It was devastating.” I knew that my desire to become a mother was so strong that I needed to keep trying. It was feelings of loss, feelings of hope – and it all played into my performance [in the film]. It was a very emotional time.”

Katie Price worries fans with dramatic weight loss as she poses in racy Santa outfit

Katie Price has worried fans with her weight loss as she posed in a risqué Santa outfit ahead of Christmas and teased that a music comeback could be on the cards

Katie Price has shown off her dramatic weight loss results whilst posing in a racy Santa outfit. The ex-glamour model, 46, certainly got into the festive spirit as she donned the eye-catching costume for her Instagram followers over the weekend.

As the former I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! star showed off her pins in fishnet tights and left little to the imagination with her plunging minidress, it was completely evident that the star had dropped the pounds.

Katie completed the whole seasonal look with a Santa hat, and let her dark locks flow free as she adopted a sultry pout. Clearly loving the camera, the showbiz legend struck a pose on the staircase, and at one point, had her pet pooch snuggled in behind her. Some fans were concerned for the star, and took to the comments section of the social media post to tell her.

One wrote: “I adore u. But u need to put on some weight. Coming from love [red heart emoji,” whilst another said You look nice in this pictures – some pictures you look terribly thin.” But others had nothing but praise for the former Page Three girl , with one writing: “Beautiful photos xxx,” and another said: “You look outstanding” as they emblazed their comments with a string of heart-eyed emojis.

In the caption of the post, Katie wrote: “Something exciting is coming soon [microphone emoji],” seemingly teasing a comeback to her music career, which has so far seen her bid to represent the UK at Eurovision, and infamously duetted on the Disney classic A Whole New World with then-husband Peter Andre. In 2017, Katie teamed up with former X Factor star Craig Colton to release I Got U, and earlier this year, it reached number two in the UK charts.

But this is not the first time Katie, who shot to fame in the 1990s under the pseudonym of Jordan, has sparked concerns over her dramatic weight loss. In November, Katie revealed she had medical tests over her weight loss. Katie, who has previously denied using weight loss medication, said she doesn’t know why she has lost so much.

Katie said she needed to get stitches removed after cutting herself with a knife while cooking. Now, Katie has sparked concern as she modelled a black tracksuit.

She shared a snap of herself in an black outfit that featured a pair of fitted leggings and a zip-up jacket. The mum-of-five gushed: “So comfy it’s unreal.”

Speaking on Snapchat, Katie had told her fans: “I’ve been up early at the doctors so she could do some bloods and because my veins are so s*** they had three attempts. They could only fill two tubes up, so I’ve got to go back in two weeks.

“And I’ve got to have my stitches out then because they looked at my little stab wound that I did. The reason I’m going to the doctors is because I keep losing weight and I don’t know why. So that’s that.”

At the time, Katie came under fire for showing off her latest treatment as she got lymphatic drainage on her stomach. Some social media users warned it was “dangerous” to promote her very slim look.

One posted in the comments underneath: “Ridiculous. Stop promoting this unnatural and underweight look to impressionable young girls.” Katie previously said she had lost weight earlier this year because she wanted to.

She said on Rob Moore’s Disruptors podcast: “Yes, I’ve lost weight. Yes that what I’ve wanted to do, I’ve wanted to lose weight.” Explaining why she felt she needed to drop a dress size, she continued: “Because the past three, four years ago when I broke my feet and I was in a wheelchair for 10 months because they said I’d never walk again.

“And obviously, you put weight on being in a wheelchair. Then I did all the IVF stuff, that also puts on weight. So yeah I did put on weight and I hated it.

I felt uncomfortable and it wasn’t me. Now I’ve gone back, now the IVF that’s all come out, and I’m more active because I could do more because of my feet, and I’m horse riding again. Then naturally, I’m going back athletic again.”

Last year, Katie admitted she had never been happy with her body. She told Louis Theroux on his podcast: “I always said I haven’t got body dysmorphia but there’s definitely something, I don’t know what it is…I’ve never looked in the mirror and thought I’m pretty or whatever.”

EastEnders legend supported by co-stars after announcing major life update

The former Martin Fowler star and his wife have confirmed ‘terrifying’ personal news

Former EastEnders star James Bye admits ‘he doesn’t have a clue’ after confirming life-changing news.

The 41-year-old is famed for playing Martin Fowler on the BBC One soap between 2014 and February 2025, after his character was brutally killed off during the show’s 40th anniversary special.

Following his EastEnders exit, father-of-four James and his wife, Victoria, have purchased a small farm, which they plan to renovate and acquire new animals.

Although the couple, who got married in 2012, have admitted they are “terrified” as they “haven’t got a clue” about running a farm. The surprise announcement was made by James and Victoria on their Life of Byes Instagram page as they shared a video from their new piece of land.

Taking to the caption, they wrote: “Hello you lovely lot…Right, I’ve been promising I’d keep you updated on our next step but life has been a bit messy lately and well, there’s been a lot going on… Bit I guess in a nutshell – we’ve gone and done something a bit mad.

“Yep, we’ve gone and bought a small farm. Yes, a farm. Despite the fact I don’t even own a pair of wellies and we have absolutely no idea what we’re doing. It’s a huge change, it’s terrifying, it’s exciting, and it felt like now or never.

“This year was a big one, and something in us just said: go for it. So here we are – slightly mad, slightly overwhelmed, dreaming big and winging it bigger – about to restore a long-empty little farmhouse that’s far too small for our family of six, wrangle chickens, attempt to drive a tractor, and somehow build a new future for our boys in the middle of a field. You know, as you do.”

They added: “And because life has a sense of humour, James heads off on tour with his new play in January (so if anyone is offering tractor lessons for a slightly knackered mum of 4, please form an orderly queue!). We’re excited, terrified, and mostly just hoping we’re not completely unhinged.

“So there you have it… our next adventure starts here… and of course, I’ll be filling you in on all of our shenanigans along the way. Wish us luck… I think we’re going to need it.”

James’ former EastEnders co-stars wasted no time in congratulating the actor and his family on their new farm.

Zack Hudson actor James Farrar wrote: “LOVE YOUS”, while Nish Panesar actor Navin Chowdry simply added a string of love heart emojis, as did Lorraine Stanley, who played Karen Taylor on the soap.
