After hosting more than 1, 000 In Our Time episodes, BBC Radio 4 host Melvyn Bragg resigned. Bragg, who has been a part of the program for 26 years, will stop working for BBC Radio 4 this week.
It’s been quite a ride for a program with a completely unoriginal title and a six-month contract, Bragg said. I’ve collaborated with a number of very gifted and helpful people at the BBC as well as with some of the world’s most renowned academics.
It’s been a great pleasure and privilege. I’m eager to keep working for the BBC on Radio 4! I appreciate you taking my time.
More than 1, 000 episodes of the television series Mirrorpix were hosted by Melvyn Bragg.
Since its launch in 1998, Bragg has hosted the program.
One of Radio 4’s most popular discussion programs, In Our Time explores a wide range of historical, scientific, and philosophical topics.
Melvyn’s passion for the arts, his intellectual curiosity, and his unwavering commitment to public service broadcasting over the past 60+ years have enriched the lives of millions, according to BBC Director General Tim Davie.
He has “introduced depth, insight, and humanity to our airwaves every week for more than a quarter of a century” through “In Our Time on Radio 4.” He leaves behind a remarkable body of work as well as a gold standard of excellence in broadcasting and interviewing.

“Melvyn has been a part of Radio 4’s heartbeat for over three decades,” said Mohit Bakaya, director of speech and controller.
He is considered one of the broadcasting greats because of his fierce intellect, wonderful curiosity, and extraordinary passion for knowledge.
“Despite missing him on In Our Time, he leaves behind a treasure trove of over 1, 000 archive episodes, a wealth of which is invaluable for those who love to learn. Working with him on new Radio 4 projects is a great idea.
In 1961, Bragg started working for the BBC as a general trainee before moving on to World Service. Between 1988 and 1998, he also spent ten years presenting Radio 4’s Start the Week.
Bragg received a Peerage in 1998 and a Companion of Honor in 2017, in addition to being an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society and The British Academy.

Pete Wicks has admitted that his best pal, Sam Thompson, is “petrified” of his close friend, Olivia Attwood. The Love Island alum, 34, who was reportedly in the ‘dog house’ with her husband, Bradley Dack, after snuggling up to Pete, 36, in Ibiza recently, will be presenting a special edition of Loose Women & Men today with the best pals, who present a weekly podcast together.
Olivia, who cryptically took to Instagram today saying she will “talk about what’s been going on soon”, speaks highly of Pete and even joked that he was her ‘type’ during their Kiss FM show. However, Sam, 32, is said to be scared of the plucky presenter as Pete opened up about their relationship.
When asked if the Made In Chelsea star gets jealous of his close friendship with Olivia, Pete said: “He supports me in everything, but I do have to remind him that he’s still number one – even though that’s a lie! Also, it’s quite funny because he’s absolutely petrified of Liv.”

The perky pair recently visited the White Island, and their tongues wagging as a result.
This Morning star Olivia was said to be ‘in the doghouse’ with her footballer hubby Bradley after the raucous get-away to Ibiza, in which Olivia and Pete were seen partying with their work mates and were papped at Ocean Beach and later on a yacht together.
Olivia was spotted stumbling close to Pete, who wrapped her arm around her while she relaxed out at sea while sporting a sizzling black bikini. After Bradley’s amused team-mates shared the photos on Gillingham’s WhatsApp group, Olivia’s husband of two years is said to have been left ‘livid’ by the photos.
Sam, Pete’s pal, posed a question about the drama in the most recent episode of their Staying Relevant podcast, and he responded with a remark. When Sam was questioned about what he believed would occur, TOWIE legend Pete responded, “Going to get off my t*ts”!
He continued, “Liv and I on work trips, what usually happens is we get to the airport early, and by the time we step onto the flight, we are intoxicated.”
Olivia, by contrast, has maintained an open letter to Pete, who calls him his “work wife.” She revealed to Pete in an episode of their radio show that he was her “type” before their trip to Spain. She is currently single and has split up with Maura Higgins earlier this year.
And she has now taken to Instagram with a cryptic message, sharing: “We can chat about what’s going on soon. I know you have questions, but just not this week, because if you haven’t noticed – I’m kinda busy.”

It’s been a tough few weeks for the Pricey. After a previous video of her appearing to count wads of cash with her daughter, Princess, went viral after former cage fighter husband, Alex leaked it. Days before Katie’s other ex, Peter Andre, publicly slammed the OnlyFans star, saying he was ‘sick of the lies’.
In a shocking Instagram post after Katie claimed she was banned from attending her daughter’s 18th birthday by Pete’s management, the Aussie hit out: “For sixteen years, I have stayed silent in the face of repeated lies from my ex-wife and her family, out of respect for my children and loved ones, but staying silent has been incredibly frustrating. That ends today.

“The latest comments about my children’s welfare and living arrangements compel me to set the record straight.
“For well-documented reasons, and for their safety, Junior and Princess came into my care in 2018 and remained with me until they reached adulthood.
“In 2019, the family courts issued a legally binding order to enforce this arrangement. I have never made this public before, out of respect for my children.
“In 2011 and 2015, publicly documented court cases, found my ex-wife had made false claims. She was ordered to pay substantial damages and legal costs, and to apologise, to me and my management. The same falsehoods are being repeated today.
“Unfortunately, there are many more lies and baseless accusations I have yet to address. Those will now be dealt with in the coming months.”
After his bombshell statement, a spokesperson for Katie told the Mirror: “Kate is in a much better and clear headspace and is at peace with the situation, this was in the past and she doesn’t feel the need to bring up tit for tat comments, but more importantly she’s dealing with this the right way and it’s now in her lawyers hands. Kate will no longer be gaslighted and bullied as she once was…”
And in response to the counting cash video leaked by ex Alex, a representative for the star said: “This is a video that was shared with Katie’s Trustee in Bankruptcy several months ago and Katie has fully complied with the Trustee’s investigations into the same.

Celine Dion has confirmed that she was supposed to perform at the Eurovision Song Contest in Basel earlier this year, but a secret health scare stopped her from getting on stage.
Despite being in Basel at the time, the 57-year-old singer, who won the contest for Switzerland in 1988, did not appear on screen or in the final.
Celine, 57, has now revealed that she was in Basel during the 30-year anniversary of her album D’eux as part of a new documentary about the success of her Eurovision performance but was forced to withdraw at the last minute due to a secret health issue.
Celine said to the audience that she would “love nothing more” than participating in the semi-final.

Only hours before the show, Eurovision’s Director Martin Green CBE also hinted at a physical appearance from the singer. When asked if she would perform, he responded: “Father Christmas exists, and you’ll have to wait and see.”
After Celine’s private jet touched down in Basel, fans anticipated her participation in Eurovision.
Celine, however, did not play in or watch the Grand Finale. According to French news website Le Parisien, she was supposed to sing the song Ne Partez Pas Sans Moi, which won the Eurovision championship, during rehearsals.
However, Celine had to leave the venue because she had a seizure that prevented her from singing when she arrived. Instead, four of the contestants from 2024 performed a tribute to the singer.
Since 2022, Celine has had a very limited number of nerve disorders, including stiff person syndrome, which has had a significant impact on her performance. She was able to perform at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris from the top of the Eiffel Tower, but the following year, she had to reschedule several dates of her Courage World Tour due to spasms.
Following the devastation of her 73-year-old husband’s death from throat cancer in 2016, which left her raising their three sons on her own, she learned of her health struggles.

Recent reports claim that Celine is “meltingly rehearsing to perform again” and is recovering well. She’s doing great, her health is in good shape, and she’s hitting the high notes once more, according to a source inside of RadarOnline.com.
She continues with her physical therapy to treat her SPS while gently rehearsing at home. Thanks to all the vocal exercises she’s been doing, she’s moving pretty well and has a wonderful voice.
