Noel and Liam Gallagher have been seen holding hands in a historic snap during their Oasis come-back tour. The brothers took to the stage in Cardiff for the first show of their reunion tour.

The pair have clearly put their differences aside after the band first split in 2009 as they have now been seen closer than ever on stage. The brothers held hands as held them up for the thousands of fans in the Welsh stadium. Tonight was the first night of their come-back tour that fans have been waiting almost two decades for.

Noel and Liam have been open about not seeing eye to eye over the years but they have now put this to one side much to the delight of their super fans.

The pair announced last year that they would be going on tour 16 years after splitting. At the time of the announcement, they shared a video to promote the comeback when Liam was heard saying: “When we both come together, you have greatness. “

Their set list has consisted of hits such as Roll With It, Fade Away, Morning Glory and Stand By Me. They began the show with their song Hello.

However, the gig was thrown into chaos as one fan had to be rushed out on a stretcher after falling ill. There was a medical incident in the crowd, and one person had to be taken off on a stretcher.

An onlooker revealed that one gig-goer was seen being carried off by the medical crew, with people waving to get out of the way.

The woman who needed medical help was being guided across the front of the stage in the pit area, right by the barrier. The incident happened during the band’s song D’You Know What I Mean before they went on to sing Stand By Me.

Cardiff marked the first of 17 shows across the UK, with fans set to flock to London, Manchester and Edinburgh too. Oasis will also play in Dublin before the band takes the show on the road to North America, Mexico, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Chile and Argentina.

Noel had given an interview where he discussed the huge universal appeal of Oasis. “A new generation recognises how Oasis wasn’t manufactured. It was chaotic, and flawed, and not technically brilliant. We were rough and ready guys from a rehearsal room, and people recognised it,” he said.

He added: “I didn’t invent anything. I had good taste in music, a cool record collection, I could write a melody simple enough to make it work, and it was 50% inspiration and 50% copying. “

The brothers got straight into the hits, blasting out Oasis anthems in the Cardiff sunshine and thrilling more than 70,000 fans in the stadium, many of whom had been enjoying drinking in pubs around the venue all afternoon.

It was estimated more than 100,000 people travelled to Cardiff yesterday, with some hoping to get a last minute ticket or just to be there to celebrate in the pubs and bars as they partied late into the night with Oasis songs played on loop.

The hotly anticipated tour is the culmination of months of speculation, a feverish ticket sale, and a long, long 16-year wait from fans.

Oasis have not performed together since August 22 2009, when they played V Festival in Staffordshire, during their Dig Out Your Soul Tour. The band’s next scheduled gig at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris on August 28, 2009 became the stuff of rock legend… for all the wrong reasons.

Backstage, as they waited to go on the brothers exchanged a series of blows before Liam is said to have gone for his brother while ‘wielding his guitar like an axe. ‘ Noel stormed out and was unable to be coaxed back round by their manager leaving the set unplayed.

After years of funny yet frustrating jibes from the brothers, fans thought a comeback would never happen. However in August last year wild rumours began to circulate before Oasis officially confirmed that Britpop dreams were coming true.

A feverish clash for tickets ensued with the tour selling out in 10 hours – with error messages and dynamic ticket pricing infuriated fans who missed out.

But those lucky enough to have snapped up the golden tickets will be heading out to see the band this summer in the UK and Ireland and beyond.

After two nights in Cardiff, Oasis will be heading home to Manchester’s Heaton Park, before moving on to London’s Wembley Stadium, Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium and Dublin’s Croke Par.

The group will then be packing their passports and heading to Japan, South Korea, South America, Australia and North America. A movie, produced by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, is being made in conjunction with the reunion tour.

The rock band was led by lead guitarist Noel and his brother, lead vocalist Liam, during their 18 years together.

Oasis signed to independent record label Creation Records in 1993, rising to fame with the release of their debut chart-topping album Definitely Maybe on August 29 1994.

Liam Gallagher’s subtle gesture to Noel reveals truth behind Oasis reunion

EXCLUSIVE: Oasis first announced the reunion tour last year, but some fans were concerned Liam and Noel Gallagher could fall out before the tour even began

Liam Gallagher spear-headed Oasis reunion as subtle gesture to Noel uncovered(Image: PA)

When Oasis first announced their reunion tour, many were concerned brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher would fall out before they ever got to the stage at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium. Considering the duo were at loggerheads for 16 years, it’s no surprise those who bought tickets were sceptical about their reunion.

But now, almost a year after their tour was announced, Liam and Noel arrived on stage hand-in-hand as they raised their arms to the sky while 70,000 fans screamed in excitement over the special occasion. Body language expert Judi James exclusively revealed to The Mirror that the brothers “gave the fans a celebratory ritual that almost suggested an air of sibling peace and harmony, walking out with their arms raised together in acknowledgement.”

Speaking to The Mirror, she said: “It was really enough to see them on the same planet, in the same vicinity or on the same stage and getting through their set without anyone walking off.

“But they gave the fans a celebratory ritual that almost suggested an air of sibling peace and harmony, walking out with their arms raised together in acknowledgment.

“Analysis of the ritual is fascinating. It’s Liam who has grabbed Noel’s wrist to raise their arms, suggesting he’s the one wanting to push the idea that they’re reunited for real. He also places a confident and controlling hand onto Noel’s shoulder, raising his maracas in the air in what looks like a V sign to signal victory. “

Noel Gallagher
Noel seemed ‘shell-shocked’ or ’emotional’ at some point(Image: Daily Mirror)

While belting out their biggest hits, there were moments where Noel looked “rather shell-shocked or emotionally overwhelmed”. During Half The World Away, Noel needed to take a minute to take in everything around him.

Judi said: “His arms hang at his sides, his head tilts forward and his lips appear clamped. He looks like a man holding his breath like the rest of the fans in the hope that the sibling bonds hold firm this time and they get through their tour in a state of (almost) total harmony. “

It’s not an Oasis concert with Liam singing with his hands behind his back while Noel is ‘hunched over his guitar’.

“The stage placing looks a little more evenly balanced than all those years ago, with Noel appearing to be lined up with his brother, and the signature poses are still intact, with Noel hunched over his guitar while Liam poses as the edgy rebel, hands behind his back, head tilted back, looking like a guy who is using his mic like a public address system,” Judi continued.

“Liam still looks angry but in a good way. Noel’s expressions as he sings mimic a wince of pain that shows the intensity of his performance. But it’s the combined rituals of two brothers that have previously made warring bros like William and Harry, JR and Bobby and Thor and Loki look like best buddies, that would have got the fans choking with emotion. “

The hotly-anticipated tour is the culmination of months of speculation, a feverish ticket sale and a long 16 year wait from fans. A shock comeback was unveiled in August 2024, with the band declaring: “The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised.”

A chaotic rush for tickets followed with 17 dates announced across London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Dublin before the band announced more concerts in North America, Mexico, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Chile and Argentina – giving fans around the world the chance to hear the hits live again.

In a heartbreaking post from 2019, Diogo’s wife Rute – who he married only two weeks ago – had said that death could not tear them apart. She wrote alongside a photo of them: “Seven years ago two kids, 15 and 16 years old, began their story. Two friends, same class, that never even dreamed what the future could bring!

“Who would’ve thought that it would turn out like this. . who would’ve thought that seven years later we would have lived in three different countries, visited ten countries and we still are the same two kids! Happy! We know highs and lows but we keep pushing and overcoming our own goals, holding each other’s hand. “

Heartbreakingly, she then added: “We grew up together and we’ll grow old together too! Seven years ago we said it would be until death tore us apart. Today I say not even death can do that. “

Liam and Noel Gallagher put their differences aside last year when they announced that they would be reuniting for a come-back tour and some fans cheekily booed them

Liam Gallagher was booed by Oasis fans during his first come-back tour date in Cardiff. The reunion tour kicked off tonight in the Welsh stadium but it seems not all fans were too happy.

Liam asked the crowd “Anybody here from Manchester? Anyone here from Burn-aaage? ” which was met by a whole host of booing. However, this didn’t stop the frontman from continuing his performance.

He ignored the boos as he shook his tambourine before launching into the band’s next song. The tour came after brothers Noel and Liam announced that they would be getting back together to perform last year.

Despite the months of preparation for the upcoming gigs, it seems that Noel was in no rush to get in stage. He was spotted enjoying the build-up to the epic Oasis reunion at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.

Cast first played at 6pm as the first of two support acts. Several fans camped outside of the stadium 24 hours before the show began to try and get the best spots.

However, they didn’t need to do this, they were then given wristbands to access the front pit in the standing crowd. ITV Lorraine correspondent Nick Dixon revealed that some ticket holders had been waiting outside the Principality Stadium since yesterday in the hopes of getting to the front of the stage.

He explained: “Some of the more passionate fans with tickets have been queuing up at different sections of the stadium since yesterday because they want to get in there as soon as the doors open at 5pm and rush to the stage. “

He then finished the segment by explaining they had been upgraded which left the superfans “deliriously happy”.

Oasis’ Cardiff show thrown into chaos over emergency as fan rushed out of crowd on stretcher

One fan had to be rushed out of Oasis’ reunion gig in Cardiff tonight on a stretcher after falling ill. During tonight’s reunion gig, Noel and Liam finally reunited after 16 years – but there was chaos in the crowd when one ill fan was given medical assistance.

There was a medical incident in the crowd and one person had to be taken off on a stretcher. An onlooker revealed that one gig goer was seen being carried off by the medical crew, with people waving to get out of the way.

The woman who needed medical help was being guided across the front of the stage in the pit area, right by the barrier. The incident happened during the band’s song D’You Know What I Mean, before they went on to sing Stand By Me.

The gig is Oasis’ first for several years, with the brothers – Noel and Liam Gallagher – having famously fallen out. The band are now back together and are set for a huge world tour, with fans stunned to see them back on stage together once more.

Ahead of the tour, Noel had given an interview where he discussed the huge universal appeal of Oasis.

“A new generation recognises how Oasis wasn’t manufactured. It was chaotic, and flawed, and not technically brilliant. We were rough and ready guys from a rehearsal room, and people recognised it,” he said, “I didn’t invent anything. I had good taste in music, a cool record collection, I could write a melody simple enough to make it work, and it was 50% inspiration and 50% copying. “

In a separate interview, Liam spoke about their reunion. Asked what makes a great frontman, he said: “I mean being able to sing is good. Just getting on with your job and doing it, and trying to get a vibe going and looking cool. “

One Oasis fan revealed she had sold her ticket to the opening gig after a comment Liam had made. Ahead of the first show, Liam faced a backlash for using a racial slur on X, with one person responding to him: “Liam, you can’t say that. “

Following the incident, Liam removed the tweet and apologised for any offence caused. He wrote: “Sorry if I offended anyone with my tweet before it wasn’t intentional you know I love you all and I do not discriminate. Peace and love LG x”.

However, one fan decided to sell her ticket after his post. She had said: “I’ve been I’ve been a huge fan since 2017. All of my adolescence I was just listening to Oasis – it got me through life and the music really saved my life.

“But I kind of stopped being a fan two days ago because what Liam said is completely not acceptable. As an Asian and as a Chinese person I could not deal with it just by keeping silent and accepting what he was saying. I just can’t participate in that anymore. Otherwise it will be disrespectful for my own community where I come from. “
