Following his split from an actress from Call the Midwife, cannabis saga heartthrob Olly Rix officially announced his new romance with a co-star on Instagram.
The 40-year-old actor, who plays dashing surgeon Flynn Byron in the long-running BBC series, is dating 28-year-old Anna Chell, who plays nurse Jodie Whyte alongside him.
Olly and Nellie’s relationship became official when he shared a number of romantic photos from their summertime adventures on Instagram with sweet photos of the two. Summer with Anna and Nellie was written alongside the images.
As the pair officially opened Instagram, fans flocked to the comments to express their happiness. One person gushed, “You are actually made for each other. This is so cute.” Another person said, “My heart is so happy.” A third person wrote, “I never realized they were such a cute couple.”
After meeting on the set of the BBC medical drama, it was reported that they were present. The actor teased his followers on Instagram by posting a picture of Anna, which sparked rumors that the two co-stars were becoming romantically involved and getting closer.
They were pictured attempting to masonry together at a stonemason’s workshop in June when he posted a photo of them having fun together.
Matthew was a three-year cast member for Olly on Call the Midwife, and The Sun was the only source of information to join Casualty. Following the conclusion of his brief, illustrious romance with 41-year-old Helen George, who also plays a nurse, Trixie Franklin, on Call the Midwife, he made a comeback role in the Saturday night drama.
She also starred alongside her real-life partner, Jack Ashton, 38, who was the father of her two children, Matthew Aylward, the wife of Olly’s character, in a 2023 divorce.
“Olly’s in a really good place right now, at the end of his time on Call the Midwife,” according to an insider, after finding himself uncomfortably thrust into the spotlight toward the end of his time there.”
He has quickly transitioned to his new role on Casualty, found a new home in Cardiff, where the drama is shot, and is enjoying a blossoming romance with Anna.
“Drama’s devotees will undoubtedly be analyzing their scenes together to see if there are any hints of chemistry between them, assuming they haven’t already noticed any.”
Olly and Helen had previously been frequently photographed getting close together as their respective real-life partners split this year.
She split from actor partner Jack Ashton, whom she met on the BBC show in 2014, four months after making the announcement.
After seven years together, Olly and his makeup artist girlfriend Natasha Fagri ended their relationship around the same time. In the middle of 2024, their relationship came to an end. Olly unfollowed Helen on Instagram after the pair “drifted apart,” according to sources.
