Carlson succeeds Northeast as Glamorgan captain

Kiran Carlson has been named as the club’s captain for 2026 at Glamorgan.

The 27-year-old succeeds Sam Northeast and will take charge of Glamorgan’s first-ever County Championship appearance in 21 years.

Carlson has led the Welsh county’s limited-overs teams for four years, including two One-Day Cup victories, while Northeast led Glamorgan’s first-class side as they finished second in Division Two last year.

Carlson, who rose up the county’s ranks, has “developed into a key player within the squad, combining consistent performances with strong leadership skills,” Glamorgan claim.

Carlson described the role as “extremely honoured and privileged.”

“I’m very excited about what Glamorgan’s future holds.” In a successful season for the club, we’re all thrilled to play for Wales and look forward to doing the country proud.

Since taking over for the 50-over format in 2021, director of cricket Mark Wallace stated: “Kiran has developed his captaincy and leadership.”
