Johan Tham, the husband of Call the Midwife star Jenny Agutter, passed away at the age of 81 after battling cancer. The Swedish hotelier and property entrepreneur who was in charge of restoring Cliveden House to its former splendor passed away on November 17.
After meeting at the Bath Literary Arts Festival, Jenny, who also appeared in The Railway Children and An American Werewolf in London, wed Johan. Jonathan, a son of the couple, works as a general practitioner in London. Jennifer previously claimed that being married was “lovely” and “very grounding,” but the actress acknowledged that when they first met in 1989, they had no idea who she was.
She stated to the Daily Mail, “One of the benefits of meeting people and forming relationships as an actor is that people don’t know who you are before they meet you.” That’s challenging in any relationship, especially for men.
Johan and I initially didn’t seem to know who I was at all when we met, but he wanted to find out, which made a big difference. 31 years later, I’m still learning more about him.
Johan and his first wife Anna Lallerstedt had two stepchildren and a daughter named Johanna, who is now a special needs teacher.
Jenny’s son, who arrived five weeks early on Christmas Day, is a dramatic real-life birth. Jenny was a prisoner of war in 1990 when she was away celebrating with her family in Oxfordshire.

Jenny recalls his birth in an interview with Yours Magazine, saying, “I called my obstetrician and he inquired whether I was in labor.
“I told him I didn’t know because I hadn’t gone through it or anticipated him.” You’d better come in, he said, and I’ll see you.
Jenny concludes, “My son arrived very late, and I was there all day.” A long day was it”!
Viewers adore Jenny Agutter’s heartfelt portrayal of Sister Julienne on Call the Midwife.

The 73-year-old actress has been a fan favorite since the very first episode of the BBC period drama first aired in 2012. Sister Julienne is a force to reckon with, empathetic but forceful, and as if frequently the voice of reason among Nonnatus House’s nuns and nurses as well as the wider Poplar community.
On December 20, 1952, Jenny was born in Taunton, Somerset. Due to her father, Derek, being a former member of the British Army, she reportedly spent time living in various locations around the world, including Singapore, Cyprus, and Kuala Lumpur as a child.
Jenny was spotted by a casting agent at a boarding school in Birmingham between the ages of 8 and 16. After starring in East of Sudan in 1964, Jenny re-entered the world as a 12-year-old actress.
She made her first appearance in the BBC’s adaptation of the well-known book in 1968 in The Railway Children. Jennifer reprised her role in the 1970 film adaptation of The Railway Children as Roberta.

The actress made her third appearance in an ITV movie version of the book in 2000, this time as the mother. She reprised her role in the movie The Railway Children Return in 2022.
Jenny has appeared in numerous television shows and movies, including the smash-hits American Werewolf In London, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Walkabout, with an incredible, and very successful, acting career spanning more than six decades.
