In Milton Keynes, Stephen Bunting defeated Jonny Clayton 8-6 to win his second Players Championship tour title in 2025.
The 40-year-old Englishman won the 25th round of the competition against Clayton, who had an average of 101.74 in the final.
Bunting made amends by putting together a strong performance in the final of the previous day’s competition at Arena MK, losing 8-7 to Jeffrey de Graaf.
The “Bull” opened the scoring with two early breaks before the Welshman cut the deficit to just one, 5-4, before the “Bull” took a 4-1 lead over Clayton.
Bunting’s 10-dart leg, however, swung the momentum his way, and he held his resolve to win the final set.
Bunting told the PDC, “I was disappointed not to win on Monday, but I’m happy to reach two finals and win over the line.”
“We are getting some wins against some top-class players,” I said as we entered the in-depth phase of the season.
