On Friday afternoon, a portion of the Pentagon Lodge, a student accommodation building near the Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ikwo (AE-FUNAI), in Ebonyi State, collapsed.
Before the incident, some students reportedly eluded the three-story building, which reportedly had cracks in it. No casualties were confirmed at the time of writing this report, but several students’ belongings were thought to still be inside, especially those who had evacuated.
According to sources close to the school environment, one of the five different blocks, Pentagon Lodge, was a part of the collapse.
Elom Iyke Ubochi, AE-FUNAI’s public relations officer, gave an interview to Channels Television’s correspondent in Abakaliki.

He thanked the collapser for colliding during lecture times, which suggested that many students would have been evacuating and attending classes, which would have reduced casualties.
There are no casualties, according to what I’ve heard so far. During the school day, students attended for lectures and other activities, but sadly, some of their properties were impacted.
There hasn’t been any human casualty in the private accommodations outside the school environment, but we’re expecting any students who are affected by the incident to report it to the dean of student affairs.
