After beating Aaron Hill 4-1 in the third round of the Belfast Open on Thursday, Mark Allen will face Jordan Brown, who is also a home favorite, in the quarter-finals.
In the opening frame of the Waterfront Hall, Allen punished Republic of Ireland player Hill for his error before scoring a 137-run break.
After falling into the final eight frames, Allen won the next three, allowing Hill, a three-time ranking event quarter-finalist, to respond with breaks of 24 and 65 to level in the second.
In the following round, the world number eight will face fellow Antrim man Brown, who defeated Shaun Murphy 4-2 in their final-16 match.
Brown and Murphy took a three-frame lead before Murphy resisted with two frames in a row, including a 135, break.
However, the home favorite won in a tense sixth frame to take his place in the final eight.
