This autumn it’s all about wrapping up a cosy chocolate brown fur coat, so I tracked down two of the best ones to shop on the high street – and they’re both under £65

Considering the cold weather means our outfits spend the majority of their time hidden underneath a coat or jacket, it stands to reason that this season outerwear is the star of the show. The chilly temperatures means we’re looking for something warm and cosy, but the fashion lover in us knows there’s no reason that a warm jacket can’t be stylish too.

Faux fur coats might not be exactly groundbreaking for autumn and winter, but there’s a reason they’ve stood the test of time. Perfect for instantly elevating even the most basic look into something a little more luxurious and put together, a fur coat gives you a leg up even when the rest of your look is lacking, and this year it’s all about embracing rich, chocolate brown tones.

Whilst designers might have given us some styling direction, the high street has already dropped some seriously expensive looking options, and there’s two that I couldn’t resist getting, and I’ve been wearing them on repeat. The criteria was warm, soft, and easy to style, with a budget-friendly price tag also ranking high on my check list… and these two coats delivered.

New Look’s Brown Faux Fur Coat – £64.99

When I spotted Molly-Mae Hague wearing a brown Mongolian-style faux fur coat at the start of the year, I immediately filed it away in my mind as one to watch for autumn. Whilst Molly-Mae’s £550 oversized Brown Mongolian Cropped Coat from De Savaray was definitely outside of my budget, when I spotted this affordable one land on New Look’s site this autumn, I had to snap it up.

It’s ultra soft and luxurious feeling, with a long pile that makes it look more expensive than its £65 price tag. Its collarless neckline and boxy fit give it a modern feel, and it fastens with hook and eyes up the front if you want it closed.

I will say these hook and eyes prove almost impossible to fasten due to the amount of faux fur around them, but it can be done with some patience. Even if you’re only wearing jeans and a jumper underneath, this is a piece that instantly elevates any outfit. It’s also my go-to when I want to put together in no time.

Brown Tipped Faux Fur Jacket by JD Williams, £75.

I now realize that I told them both for less than £65, and that wasn’t a lie. You can currently use the code TREAT to save 20% on all fashion items, bringing the price down to £60, despite the JD William fur coat’s average price of £75.

With collared lapels and a slightly slouchy fit, this jacket is more of your classic faux fur coat, and it strikes the perfect balance between classy and cool. For a winter wedding, you could wear this with jeans and trainers for an afternoon at the pub.

The softness of this jacket is something I can only praise it for. It keeps you warm in the cold with a luxuriously silky, soft, and beautifully thick layer. Additionally, the front hook and bar fastenings are a little challenging to use, especially with cold hands!

Both jackets come in a wide range of sizing options, which I enjoy, and are generously sized so you can get a thick, chunky knit underneath while still wearing your regular size. In your wardrobe, I’ve already worn them with jeans, midi skirts, heels, and trainers this autumn, and I’m confident that they’ll work just as well with mine.
