Brooks Koepka quits LIV Golf to focus on family life

Brooks Koepka, a five-time major champion, left the lucrative world tour before the 2026 season, according to LIV Golf’s announcement on Tuesday.

The 35-year-old Koepka has not yet announced whether he plans to play on the PGA Tour. He only has one year left on his LIV contract. He left in June 2022 when LIV announced he would sign a $100 million contract to boost its bid to compete with the PGA Tour.

Following the 2025 season, Brooks Koepka will no longer compete in the LIV Golf League, according to LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil in a statement. Brooks prioritizes his family’s needs while remaining more close to home.

Koepka had a lot of highs and lows during his time with LIV. After spending the majority of his days playing in LIV’s comparatively non-competitive environment, which included 54-hole, no-cut tournaments, it gave LIV a significant boost of credibility.

Koepka did sound like the 2018 and 2018 US Open champion and the 2023 PGA titlist was approaching.

At one LIV event, Koepka stated, “I have a contract obligation out here to fulfill, and we’ll see what happens.”

His official third-person statement did not provide any future hints.

“Brooks Koepka will leave LIV Golf,” he announced. He expresses his sincere gratitude to Yasir Al-Rumayan, Scott O’Neil, his teammates, and the LIV Golf leadership team. Brooks feels that this is the ideal time to spend more time at home because family has always guided his decisions. Brooks will continue to be a major proponent of LIV Golf and aspires for the club’s future success. Brooks will keep fans informed about the upcoming events and continues to be a passionate golfer.

Koepka’s 2023 victory in the PGA Championship means Koepka can compete in all four majors next year, but the PGA Tour requires LIV exiles to miss their most recent LIV tournament for one year. His last appearance was on August 24 during the LIV Golf Michigan event, which lasted for one day.

The PGA Tour had the option of providing an exemption, but it also chose not to provide any hints in its statement.
