Shortly after one of his brothers announced a significant personal milestone, Brooklyn Beckham dropped the lengthy statement and accused his parents of “controlling” his behavior.

Brooklyn Beckham has been accused of “overshadowing” his younger brother Cruz with the timing of his bombshell statement accusing his famous parents of “controlling” him for most of his life. The 26-year-old aspiring chef has been embroiled in rumours of a family feud with Victoria and David Beckham for over a year, but he broke his silence on Monday, January 19, and insisted he “does not want to reconcile”.

Brooklyn said he had “no choice” but to “tell the truth about only some of the lies” that have been circulating in the shock statement, which included a number of accusations and damning allegations against the former Spice Girl and professional footballer. He claimed that his parents had “controlled narratives” about the Beckham family for the entirety of their relationship and that Nicola Peltz-Beckham, his ex-wife, had tried to “endlessly ruin his relationship” with him before their 2021 wedding.

Fans of Cruz, Cruz’s younger brother, 20, were unhappy with the post’s timing, and some even accused Brooklyn of trying to steal his thunder.

Cruz announced on his own social media just hours before Brooklyn’s post was removed that he was going on a special one-night only tour and would play a special performance at London’s The Courtyard Theatre.

Alongside a photograph of a “Cruz Beckham and The Breakers” poster which included details of the London gig, Cruz wrote: “First of many gigs go on sale at 10 Am on Wednesday, A night of new music, and a few you know (tickets in bio) can’t wait to see ya there.”

Following a post released the day before that teased a “show announcement on Monday,” the post received a “like” from his mother, Victoria. Some Cruz’s fans criticized his big brother for overshadowing the big picture in a subsequent post that included a number of photos of the band performing in a music studio.

One person wrote, “Brooklyn knew what he was doing by dropping that story at the same time as this. One more phrase read, “Your brother is ruining everything your family worked for over a dance, and it’s so sad. I’m so sorry that he chose to do this today.

Brooklyn was criticized for being “jealous” of Cruz, adding that “he can talk about it now but he chose Cruz’s significant moment.”

Another follower commented, “He had a lot of time to talk, and coincidentally Brooklyn does it at Cruz’s moment.”

There were also similar comments over on X, with one user writing: “Interesting how Brooklyn Beckham tried to overshadow Cruz’s band news by releasing his petty statements just a few hours after Cruz’s announcement. He really is a bitter and petulant person!”

Brooklyn appeared to rule out reconciliation with any of his family, including his brothers, despite the fact that his statement was mostly directed at his parents. He wrote, “I do not want to find a family.” For the first time in my life, I’m standing up for myself instead of being controlled.

He continued, “My wife controls me in a completely different way.” My parents have controlled me most of my life. I had a lot of anxiety growing up. That anxiety has vanished for the first time in my life since I left my family. I’m grateful for the life I chose, and I’ve found peace and relief in it every morning.
