Brooklyn Beckham has broken his social media silence with a cooking video, prompting backlash after skipping his dad David’s knighthood and staying silent on the milestone
Brooklyn Beckham has finally broken his silence on social media after being accused of snubbing his dad David Beckham’s knighthood – only for his followers to start arguing with each other in the comments.
The 26-year-old content creator and foodie took to Instagram to show himself whipping up his signature smash burgers while promoting his hot-sauce brand. However, the post came just days after David Beckham, 50, was officially knighted at Windsor Castle last week in recognition of his services to football and British society and many of the replies focused on his absence.
The Ex-England captain was joined at the ceremony by wife Victoria, 51, and their children Romeo, 23, Cruz, 20, and 14-year-old Harper Seven. The proud family later enjoyed an intimate dinner where Victoria stunned in one of her own designs. The Ex-England captain described the moment as “emotional” and “special.” Meanwhile, Romeo and Cruz shared warm tributes to their father on Instagram, and Victoria penned an heartfelt post, calling David her “knight in shining armour… now it’s official.”
However, his son Brooklyn was missing from the celebration. His absence at the ceremony and failure to mention the milestone online fuelled speculation of a family rift.
A flood of comments under his cooking video shows fans criticise him for the move while others defended him. One person wrote: “No one cares mate, are you going to say well done to your dad?” Another commented,”“Why don’t you come to support your dad?”
However, some fans showed their support towards him. One wrote, “Let this man live. You know nothing about his family.” Another echoed the sentiment, writing, “Folks, he’s making a smash burger and trying to find joy through sharing his cooking. He’s not asking your advice and you’re not a family guidance counsellor.”
A third person wrote, ““Keep being you. No one knows what happens in families and the trolls are projecting all their fantasies of your family onto you, making everything your responsibility. That must be really tough. Breathe deep. This too shall pass.”
According to recent reports, the tensions between Brooklyn, his parents and his wife Nicola Peltz Beckham, 30, began years ago and has since escalated. Sources claim Brooklyn once told the family he wanted “no contact” – and that he even learnt of his father’s knighthood through the media.
A source close to the Beckhams told Page Six: “Brooklyn told his family he wants no contact and he’s not responding to those that try to connect.” Meanwhile, a source has told The Daily Mail that there has been a rift between Victoria and Nicola.
They said, “Victoria dislikes Nicola intensely and it’s been war behind the scenes pretty much ever since the wedding. It’s always been a tug of war about Brooklyn, and Victoria has not wanted to let go.”
Adding, “Victoria feels he has been absorbed into the Peltzes and that his life is all about that family… Even when Nicola and Brooklyn went out to Paris for Victoria’s fashion show, they stayed with her family because her mother likes to go to the couture shows.”
