Bronze and Yamal make history in Fifpro World XI

Lucy Bronze, England’s Lucy Bronze, won an unprecedented eighth consecutive place in the Fifpro Women’s World XI.

Lamine Yamal, the youngest player to play in the Men’s World XI, has also made history.

Bronze, a Chelsea defender, is one of six women’s world XI players.

After helping the Lionesses win back-to-back European titles, Chloe Kelly and Chelsea goalkeeper Hannah Hampton feature for the first time, as do England captain Leah Williamson and forward Alessia Russo.

Millie Bright, a Chelsea defender, did not play at Euro 2025 but is still eligible for the final English international.

Spain’s Yamal breaks Kylian Mbappe’s record of 18 when the Frenchman made the Men’s XI at the age of 19 with the signing of the 18-year-old.

Mbappe, Cole Palmer, and Jude Bellingham, both from England, are also present this time.

The Champions League-winning Paris St-Germain side has five players in the XI, including goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who is currently a part of Manchester City.

Donnarumma, who signed for Manchester City at the start of September, will join Defenders Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes, midfielder Vitinha and forward Ousmane Dembele.

Erling Haaland misses out on the starting lineup, but Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk and Barcelona’s Pedri complete the lineup.

Only professional footballers have cast their ballots for the Fifpro World XI, the only other global football award.

Defenders: Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool, Netherlands), Nuno Mendes (PSG, Portugal), and Achraf Hakimi (PSG, Morocco).

Midfielders: Vitinha (PSG, Portugal), Cole Palmer (Real Madrid, England), and Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid, England).

Ona Batlle (Barcelona, Spain), Millie Bright (Chelsea, England), Lucy Bronze (Chelsea, England), and Leah Williamson (Arsenal, England) are the defenders.

Aitana Bonmati (Barcelona, Spain), Ghizlane Chebbak (Badalona/Al Hilal, Morocco), and Alexia Putellas (Barcelona, Spain) are the midfielders.
