On the final day of the German city of Leipzig, the European Artistic Gymnastics Championships, Briton Jake Jarman won a silver medal in the men’s vault.
The 23-year-old won European vault gold in 2022 and 2024, but his second vault was less precise and averaged 11.733.
With a score of 14. 799, Armenia’s Artur Davtyan clinched the gold medal, while Ukraine’s Nazar Chepurnyi won with a 14. 593.
I’m more frustrated at myself, according to Jarman, “with mixed emotions.”
“I had a great first vault, but I was so anxious that I had to do my second vault.” I’m really happy, overall.
Jarman’s first vault score was 15.2, marking the first time a male competitor had over 15 on the apparatus at these championships.
However, he was let down by the second vault’s execution, which led to a 14.266 score and a lower average.
