Karis Anderson took to the stage to perform a classic Tina Turner hit before the 2025 live semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent.

Fans of Britain’s Got Talent learned that the first semi-finalist of the 2025 season’s opening performance was once a member of a popular girl band. Karis Anderson, who is currently leading the cast of the popular West End musical Tina, gave a stunning performance to the long-running series’ debut.

The 35-year-old singer reprises Tina Turner’s role in the musical, which follows the Goldeneye singer’s life and career until she passed away in 2023. Karis gave a stunning performance on Britain’s Got Talent, which featured the 1966 River Deep Mountain High Ike &amp, Tina Turner singer.

Many people were shocked to learn that Karis had a career outside of the West End, despite the fact that many were only blown away by her powerful vocals. The singer is a member of the girl band Stooshe, which she co-starred with Courtney Rumbold and Alexandra Buggs.

After responding to a request for auditions, the trio formed their band in 2010 and signed a record deal with Warner Music in August 2011. Their debut album, London with the Lights On, was released in 2013 and peaked at number 8 on the charts along with the hit singles Slip, Love Me, and the Number 3 hit Black Heart.

The powerhouse vocals of Karis shocked those who tuned in to BGT on Saturday night and wished they could have chosen her to win. One user wrote on X: “Tina Turner singing Karais Anderson should win Britain’s Got Talent.”

While another typed “The amazingly fabulous Tina Musical to begin”! Stooshe fans may be disappointed that the group hasn’t released any music since 2016 and doesn’t appear to be planning any additional music.

Last year, the band posted on their official Instagram to confirm they have no plans to release music. Alexandra from the band wrote: “Hey loves, I’m sorry to say we aren’t announcing new music before I get your hopes up.

Your girls are expecting (having been around for a while, lol), and I’m starting a new business in the parent and baby market.

Vinnie Mckee, a Scottish singer, and the Swiss dance group The Blackouts made it to the grand final on Saturday night. In order to reach the final, Vincent won the support of the audience.

While The Blackouts were automatically sent through after judge Amanda Holden gifted them the first ever golden buzzer of the live semi final shows. For the 2025 season there has been a rule change where one judge is nominated each episode and granted the power to slap the golden buzzer and grant an act finalist status.

Amanda hit the buzzer and the team passed, being wowed by the team’s technical difficulties, which had caused them to be delayed to the stage. Fans have expressed mixed opinions about the rule change, with many feared that the final will be overfilled with judges’ favorites rather than viewer favorites.

And many home-bound viewers cried foul at the live studio audience’s indescribable yells at Amanda after each performance before The Blackouts received their reward. One user complained on X, “The audience won’t stop watching #bgt because the golden buzzer is already wreaking havoc in the semi finals.” Another person expressed concern that #BGT will be shut down by this audience.

During the live semi-final rounds, the inclusion of a golden buzzer drew the attention of many viewers. What a joke, the commentator said, “Basically, the judges may as well just pick the finalists and forget about the semis.”

Another phrase was written, “A live show golden buzzer is completely unnecessary.” What if she completely presses it? #BGT. In other words, it’s so the judges can fix it! “And another raged:”

Others took to social media to blast the format of numerous semi-final shows that lasted for more than a month. One person complained, “Seconds the Semi Final episodes #BGT for the next 6 weeks.”
