The Football Association (FA) has charged Bristol City and Millwall with a mass brawl between players and coaching staff at Ashton Gate this month.
For their individual roles in the incident, Joe Williams, Harry Cornick, Ross McCrorie, Joel Coleman, and Dave Livermore have also been charged.
An offside flag prevented Millwall from scoring an equalizer in the 59th minute thanks to a goal from Mihailo Ivanovic.
After the game, Lions boss Alex Neil and Robins head coach Gerhard Struber appeared to be holding hands, with Bristol City skipper Jason Knight appearing to push Neil twice in the chest in a brawl that quickly turned into a bigger melee.
For their roles in the brawl on Saturday, December 6, the FA has charged both teams, Robins players Williams, Cornick, and McCrorie, as well as Millwall goalkeeper Coleman and assistant head coach Livermore.
An FA spokesperson claimed that “Both clubs allegedly failed to ensure that their players and/or technical area staff did not act in an inappropriate, provocative, or violent way after the game ended.”
Only McCrorie, who was substituted for Mark Sykes in the 64th minute, actually played in the game.
Williams and Coleman didn’t play in their teams’ matchday squads, and Cornick was an unused substitute for the Robins.
The match officials didn’t witness Cornick and McCrorie’s behavior, according to the spokesperson, but it was “was caught on video and allegedly constitutes violent conduct.”
