Bridget Jones has returned to the silver screen for the fourth and final time.

The romcom heroine is back in Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy, which sees her navigating life as a widow and single mum.

It stars Renée Zellweger, reprising her leading role, alongside new cast member Leo Woodall, playing her much younger love interest, Roxster.

Another notable addition to the franchise’s cast is Nico Parker, who portrays Chloe, Bridget’s hyper organized nanny.

Viewers are first introduced to the character when another mum recommends her service to Bridget, with the warning that she’s “very pretty” before she brutally quips: “but doesn’t matter Bridget, because you don’t have a husband.”

The leading lady later echoes the compliment when she meets Chloe and gushes “she looks like a film star.”

But who is the BAFTA-nominated actress and where have you seen her before?

Born in December 2004, Nico grew up watching the Bridget Jones franchise.

When she was asked to feature in the fourth instalment, the London-born actress admitted that she was “so excited” adding that she wanted to “be in the Bridget Jones world.”

The role comes just five years after the star’s acting debut.

What else has Nico Parker starred in?

Nico is widely known for playing Sarah Miller in the post-apocalyptic drama The Last of Us. She appeared in the first season as Joel Miller’s (Pedro Pascal) daughter.

The 20-year-old actress was praised for her performance and earned a BAFTA award nomination in the Supporting Actress category.

In 2024, she starred opposite Woody Harrelson in Suncoast, a coming-of-age drama about a teenager who strikes up an unlikely friendship with an eccentric activist.

The drama was a critical success, earning an impressive 77% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Nico’s performance earned her the Dramatic Special Jury Award for Breakthrough Performance at Sundance Film Festival.

Nico’s film debut was in Tim Burton’s 2019 live-action remake of Dumbo. The breakthrough actresses starred alongside Hollywood heavy-hitters Colin Farrell, Michael Keaton and Danny DeVito.

Aged 14 at the time, she had not previously considered a career in acting because she “didn’t want to just follow in [my] mum’s footsteps.”

However, she found her love for the craft during the audition process. “Throughout the auditions I was like ‘Oh I’m really enjoying this,’ and then I got the part and then as soon as it started I was like, ‘This could be something I really wanna do,’ but I never really considered it as what I would do.

“I didn’t want to just follow in my mum’s footsteps, but now I’m following in my mum’s footsteps,” she revealed in a 2019 interview with People magazine.

The rising star has recently taken on another fantasy role as Astrid in the upcoming remake of DreamWorks’ How To Train Your Dragon.

Who are Nico Parker’s parents?

Nico parker is the middle child of Westworld actress Thandiwe Newton and director Ol Parker. Newton has built a glittering career in film and television, notably starring in The Pursuit of Happyness, Norbit and Mission: Impossible II.

Meanwhile Nico’s father is famed for writing and directing Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. Most recently, he penned the romantic comedy Ticket to Paradise, which stars George Clooney and Julia Roberts.

The couple tied the knot in 1998 and have three children together. Their eldest daughter, named Ripley, made waves in 2023 for penning Netflix’s hit show, Everything Now.

In 2023, The Cut quizzed Nico about the trending term ‘nepo baby’, often used to disparage children of celebrities who have benefited from their parents’ influence in the industry.

She acknowledged her privilege, saying: “[…] I think it’s incredibly important to recognize that with your parents being prevalent in the industry, it’s way easier to get in the room.”

“It’s so important to know how many people would dream of being in that room, and how lucky you are to be there … Especially when you start, your parents know people, and you’ve known people since you were small, and they want to give you a chance because they like you. That is a reflection of your parents,” she concluded.
