Baddie Winkle, the internet savant, passed away at the age of 97.
This evening, her great-granddaughter shared the news with her three million Instagram followers, saying “an era ended and a star ascended.”
A star ascended as she captured a picture of her late loved one. Helen Ruth Elam Vanwinkle, my great grandmother, danced to the tune of “Jesus.”
She embodied “joy, rebellion, and tenderness in one.” Her love for many different realms will last forever, and the crown is eternal. This is not a goodbye; it is a superstar’s “See ya later.”
“Oh no, I’m so sorry,” Over the past few years, I’ve enjoyed watching her grow into a household name. In the afterlife, she’s going to definitely shake things up. One fan wrote in the comments section after the news broke that she was sorry for you and your family.
Another person added, “Loved me some Baddie!” She taught us all that life has no end date, inspiring us all. I appreciate you sharing her with us over the past few years. My girl, Shine Bright!
Helen revealed that her great-granddaughter Kennedy assisted her in starting an Instagram account and becoming a viral sensation when she spoke in 2018 at the height of her early social media success.
She helped me create an account on a new smartphone by teaching me everything I know about the internet. I didn’t understand why anyone would care to see my photos online, but to my surprise, tens of thousands of people liked my snaps, she said at the time.
I now have more than 3 million Instagram followers, including Beyoncé, Rihanna, and a select few Kardashians, after four years. I’ve been Nicole Richie’s reality show, Missguided, and the clothing company I work for. I wore a flesh-colored catsuit (left), covered in rhinestones, and a matching, blinging walking stick, as her plus one, according to Miley Cyrus.
Helen worked as a factory clerk before becoming everyone’s favorite Instagram influencer. She lost her husband Earl when he was killed in a car accident on their 35th wedding anniversary, and her life wasn’t going well.
20 years later, Helen lost her son David to cancer, which is heartbreaking. Your son should never be yours. Years of fighting ensued in an effort to move past their deaths. Every day I long for them. You have to take what you get, she said in 2018, “that’s life,” she said.
“This is a new chapter in my life, and it’s actually getting more interesting. But I don’t believe I’ve changed very much, right off the bat. Helen can do extraordinary things that she hasn’t been able to do with Daddie Winkle. I occasionally act as Baddie and occasionally as Helen.
“I have had a lot of opportunities thanks to Being Baddie. I created a list of everything that was still on my bucket list, including flying across the Grand Canyon in a helicopter across the country and shaking my ass at a Samba class in Rio. I’ve managed to get to the London superclub G-A-Y to DJ and I even flew by Buckingham Palace, but sadly I didn’t get to meet the Queen. Not that she would have believed what I said, “She could do with a little more color.”
